Small family run restaurant worth seeking out!! I've heard good things about the Burritos at Jesse's and finally decided tonight was the night to try it. The family behind the cash register and flattop are so friendly and seem to know most of the customers. You can tell the food is made with love judging from the line of people waiting. I ordered 2 burritos to go, one being the Asada burrito because of the rave reviews -did not disappoint! When I got home, I saw how big the burrito was so my hubby and I split it, saving the chicken burrito for tomorrow. The green salsa is bomb and the flavors are so good! Saved Chicken burrito for lunch and cut into it, -check out all the clean meat inside wrapped with rice, beans, onions and cilantro. Just the way I like it! Jesse's is small but an efficient use of space with limited indoor seating. I will definitely recommend and keep on rotation!! read more

Great soft tacos and burritos. It's a small mom and pop shop in an old downtown Oxnard building. Nothing fancy. You order, sit and eat. For something different try the chicharon taco. It's spicy and seemed to be marinated prior. Pretty good carne asada. The carnitas are ok, the meat a bit too soggy for my liking. Overall, an excellent place to great food. read more

I'm torn about this place, so I'm settling on a solid 2.5 stars for now. The first time I went, it was pretty good. I ordered a simple Asada and Chile Relleno burrito with all the trimmings, and it was very satisfying. I loved the flavor of the salsa and how well-balanced the beans and rice were in the mix. The second visit was the complete opposite. The meat was dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while, the chile relleno was mostly egg and flour, and the burrito was packed with way more rice and beans than anything else. It was a major disappointment. To be clear, this isn't an authentic Mexican spot--it's more like fast-food Mexican of the indulgent variety. That said, they can still pull off good food when they're on their game. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad night and that my third visit will be better. Here's to hoping! read more

Ordered Al Pastor fries, received bean fries. When I received the plate it was very heavy, once I opened it I then saw how many toppings it had on top. After eating up some fries all I tasted was the beans, I moved around the top and found bits of Al Pastor but hardly any. The picture on instagram and the one posted on here as a review show nothing compared to what I received not even close. The beans overpowered any flavor these fries could have had. The green you see is not the guacamole but the green salsa I asked on the side. Would I give them a try again? Probably not, I hate wasting money when I have been disappointed before. For reference on the pic I took I never moved anything around to begin with so this is exactly how I received my plate minus the green salsa I put before eating. read more

This used to be the spot to go. I've been coming here for over 12 years. The food has gone down in quality. We ordered burritos de cabeza and they had no flavor at all. After reading the other reviews it is true, they no longer put quality into their food and the price has doubled. The fat lady at the register was giving me a hard time because I asked for lemons and a spoon. Major attitude. You are better off going to the food trucks on the street. This place is not the same. And the horchata and salsas had no flavor. I literally was disappointed and $40 wasted for 2 burritos and 1 flavorless horchata. Do not come here. You will waste your money. read more

This has got to be the best burrito place in town. However,there is a first time for everything and today was their first time in all my visits that the tortilla wasn't completely heated so my burrito wasn't a burrito but instead a torn up mess. I'm thinking that the guy preparing the orders must've felt rushed to get the orders done. There were two other people in front of me and I have no idea what if any phone orders he may have had. Ah, another hole in the wall spot! These types of places hold so much promise, and I find that they often have the best food. We'd heard that the carne asada fries are the best bet here, so that's what we ordered. They were indeed excellent. A layer of fries topped with asada and cheese and sour cream and guac and pico ... it was heavenly. I recently seen a video on their instagram page of someone making a good looking burrito. It was breakfast time so I decided to go try it out. Not gonna lie. The burrito was better than I expected it to be. It comes with chilaquiles, beans and eggs done your way, but I add asada which was an extra charge. I think I found my new breakfast favorite. The service was very good and helpful. The location is small and convenient for pickup or even if you and a friend want to grab a quick bite to eat. The ambiance passes the vibe check. So, I always loved going to this place. It was near my house and just very convenient. Never had a problem with the food or service before. But, there was this one time I had ate there and I had gotten sick afterwards. I thought it mightve been just me. When I went to eat there again I got sick! Simply the best Mexican food, period. Every time someone visits our family from out of town we pick up Jesse's for them, and they literally will beg to eat there the next time they are in town. My Dad moved out of state and mentions Jesse's chile relleno burritos when we talk on the phone, the food is so good people are sad when they can't have it! Their nachos are to die for and I agree with my dad on the chile rellenos! Great food and great people, who work hard to make the BEST burritos (and other fantastic food) on the planet! There's a small seating area but most folks pick up to go. There's usually a line even mid week - but it's worth it!!!! read more

The process was super easy and made the wait feel seamless. We were seated on the "outdoor" patio, which was absolutely delightful. It's covered, so it feels like you're inside, but it's still open-air and pup friendly, which we loved. They even have a pup menu and bring out little metal water bowls. Our doggo was living his best life. The menu is large with tons of options. We initially tried using the QR code (which is great because it includes photos), but ultimately asked for a paper menu, sometimes it's just easier to flip through. My husband ordered The California (eggs, bacon, and pancakes). This breakfast also comes with toast and your choice of potatoes. We upgraded to the chili cheese tots, thinking it was just a small upcharge from the standard side, and didn't realize until we got back to the hotel that we were charged $8 for them, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the tots were tasty (just eat them quickly because they cool off fast!). His eggs were cooked perfectly, but the $3.50 upcharge to add blueberries to the pancakes felt steep, and the bacon was mostly fat and a bit overcooked. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with poached eggs, and the eggs were absolutely perfect. The dish was bursting with flavor. My only critique was that the beans were a bit too liquid-heavy, which made the tortilla very soggy, I couldn't finish as much as I would've liked because of that. The Bloody Marys, though? So good. Highly recommend! We both loved them. Our server was pleasant and friendly. Oh and there was a Char Man hot sauce on the table that was EPIC! Overall, we would definitely come back, we'd just try a few different menu items next time... except for the Bloody Marys. Those are a repeat order for sure.
