Small family run restaurant worth seeking out!! I've heard good things about the Burritos at Jesse's and finally decided tonight was the night to try it. The family behind the cash register and flattop are so friendly and seem to know most of the customers. You can tell the food is made with love judging from the line of people waiting. I ordered 2 burritos to go, one being the Asada burrito because of the rave reviews -did not disappoint! When I got home, I saw how big the burrito was so my hubby and I split it, saving the chicken burrito for tomorrow. The green salsa is bomb and the flavors are so good! Saved Chicken burrito for lunch and cut into it, -check out all the clean meat inside wrapped with rice, beans, onions and cilantro. Just the way I like it! Jesse's is small but an efficient use of space with limited indoor seating. I will definitely recommend and keep on rotation!!

Ordered Al Pastor fries, received bean fries. When I received the plate it was very heavy, once I opened it I then saw how many toppings it had on top. After eating up some fries all I tasted was the beans, I moved around the top and found bits of Al Pastor but hardly any. The picture on instagram and the one posted on here as a review show nothing compared to what I received not even close. The beans overpowered any flavor these fries could have had. The green you see is not the guacamole but the green salsa I asked on the side. Would I give them a try again? Probably not, I hate wasting money when I have been disappointed before. For reference on the pic I took I never moved anything around to begin with so this is exactly how I received my plate minus the green salsa I put before eating.

Ah, another hole in the wall spot! These types of places hold so much promise, and I find that they often have the best food. We'd heard that the carne asada fries are the best bet here, so that's what we ordered. They were indeed excellent. A layer of fries topped with asada and cheese and sour cream and guac and pico ... it was heavenly. It was also very rich and very filling, so it took 6 of us to polish it off, but polish it off we did! Lost one star because seating was a bit of a mess and the tables were dirty.

I recently seen a video on their instagram page of someone making a good looking burrito. It was breakfast time so I decided to go try it out. Not gonna lie. The burrito was better than I expected it to be. It comes with chilaquiles, beans and eggs done your way, but I add asada which was an extra charge. I think I found my new breakfast favorite. The service was very good and helpful. The location is small and convenient for pickup or even if you and a friend want to grab a quick bite to eat. The ambiance passes the vibe check. I recommend giving it a go.

I'm torn about this place, so I'm settling on a solid 2.5 stars for now. The first time I went, it was pretty good. I ordered a simple Asada and Chile Relleno burrito with all the trimmings, and it was very satisfying. I loved the flavor of the salsa and how well-balanced the beans and rice were in the mix. The second visit was the complete opposite. The meat was dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while, the chile relleno was mostly egg and flour, and the burrito was packed with way more rice and beans than anything else. It was a major disappointment. To be clear, this isn't an authentic Mexican spot--it's more like fast-food Mexican of the indulgent variety. That said, they can still pull off good food when they're on their game. I'm hoping I just caught them on a bad night and that my third visit will be better. Here's to hoping! read more

This has got to be the best burrito place in town. However,there is a first time for everything and today was their first time in all my visits that the tortilla wasn't completely heated so my burrito wasn't a burrito but instead a torn up mess. I'm thinking that the guy preparing the orders must've felt rushed to get the orders done. There were two other people in front of me and I have no idea what if any phone orders he may have had. This used to be the spot to go. I've been coming here for over 12 years. The food has gone down in quality. We ordered burritos de cabeza and they had no flavor at all. After reading the other reviews it is true, they no longer put quality into their food and the price has doubled. The fat lady at the register was giving me a hard time because I asked for lemons and a spoon. Major attitude. You are better off going to the food trucks on the street. This place is not the same. And the horchata and salsas had no flavor. I literally was disappointed and $40 wasted for 2 burritos and 1 flavorless horchata. Do not come here. You will waste your money. read more

A friend of mine arranged a taco crawl in Oxnard. This was one of the stops. Very small place with only a couple tables. Nice employees. I ordered a carnitas taco with habanero. The meat was on the soft side but the salsa was fiery. Pretty tasty taco. read more

So, I always loved going to this place. It was near my house and just very convenient. Never had a problem with the food or service before. But, there was this one time I had ate there and I had gotten sick afterwards. I thought it mightve been just me. When I went to eat there again I got sick! I was merely a road-battered pilgrim, six hours removed from Oakland, washed ashore near the freeway at the velvet fringe of Ventura County, in that glossy new development called The Collection, where every building looks as though it was approved by a committee whose mission statement was: Let there be ambient lighting and retail optimism. My dinner choices arrived like mildly desperate contestants in a televised pageant. Cheesecake Factory told me the wait would be twenty-five minutes and that they would text me. Reader, I assume that text is now trapped in a ravine somewhere, being nursed back to health by quail. Then there was some steak place whose name dissolved from memory before I finished looking at it. So into Lazy Dog I wandered, hungry, tired, spiritually fragile, and very open to persuasion. And I have to admit: the place has a certain charm. From the back at night, Lazy Dog is weirdly enchanting. The warm lights, the patio glow, the bottles shining through the bar, the whole thing looks like a lodge designed by someone who wanted to seduce exhausted motorists into believing life is still full of promise. Yet the actual entrance is oddly easy to miss. The restaurant is basically playing hard to get. A chain restaurant with mystery. A flirt. A woodland princess in practical shoes. Inside, the vibe is part upscale sports bar, part polished suburban den, part "let's make everyone from picky teenagers to diet-conscious moms to semi-hungover road warriors feel included." Buffalo Wild Wings, but after therapy, better lighting, and a semester abroad. The seating is not what I would call voluptuous. You are not sinking into a cloud of velvet mercy here. But the room is lively, social, and good-humored. It hums in that specific modern way that says yes, you may order tacos, noodles, a burger, or a cocktail with fruit in it, and no one will judge your lack of culinary allegiance. The cocktail situation was fun. I had the raspberry sangria, which tasted less like old-world wine-country sophistication and more like Hawaiian Punch got hired by a vineyard. It was bright, sweet, cheerful, and only slightly ridiculous. A prom queen in a stemmed glass. I did not hate it. I also did not see God. 3/5. Service was reliable, friendly, and sincere, which in today's dead-eyed hospitality landscape feels almost mystical. No fake grandeur, no attitude, no emotional frostbite. Just kind, competent people doing their jobs without making me feel like an interruption in their evening. That deserves respect. The menu is broad enough to make you nervous. Burgers, Italian-ish things, Thai-ish things, tacos, bowls, pizza, noodles, probably a diplomatic treaty if you ask politely. Usually a menu this sprawling suggests culinary panic. But Lazy Dog somehow lands on the right side of chaos. Not transcendent, not revolutionary, but steady in a way that is more useful than many trendier places would like to admit. The fried hard-boiled deviled eggs were the surprise star. In theory, this is the kind of appetizer that sounds like America whispering, "What if we made the picnic more reckless?" In practice: very good. Crispy outside, creamy inside, faintly absurd, and impossible not to admire. 4.5/5. The shrimp tacos were also solid. Bright, fresh, avocado doing its usual California diplomacy, pickled onions bringing color and sass, and the whole plate looking just photogenic enough to make younger foodie civilians feel seen by the algorithm. 4.3/5. The shrimp Thai noodles were decent too. Not an oracle, not a revelation, not the kind of dish that makes monks ring bells in the mountains, but flavorful and more than respectable after a long drive. 3.8/5. That may be Lazy Dog's real strength. It is not trying to be a sacred culinary temple guarded by tattooed sommeliers and fermented foams. It is trying to be open late, fun, dependable, and welcoming enough to make a tired traveler feel the night still has one last good chapter in it. And after six hours in the car, that is not nothing. That is grace with parking. So no, this is not the hidden gastronomic throne of Oxnard. But it is a lively, late-night, good-energy landing pad with charming exterior glow, sincere service, fun drinks, and better food than a cynic might expect. Would I come back? Absolutely. Mostly because Lazy Dog fed me, comforted me, and acknowledged the passage of time, which is more than I can say for Cheesecake Factory. Also, points for being open until midnight, because some places close early as if adulthood itself should have a curfew. Lazy Dog, by contrast, understands the nocturnal needs of the weary, the under-caffeinated, the gossip-prone, and the mildly glamorized freeway drifter still chasing one last decent meal before surrendering to hotel-sheet oblivion.

Food: It's all about the fish tacos. The sauce is to die for, and all of the elements in the taco are perfectly balanced. If you want to go astray and get carnitas don't be afraid. I can vouch for the high quality meat they use, and my friend says the tofu tacos can satisfy vegetarian needs. I'm addicted to their carnitas--make sure to grab one Service: As Socrates once said (I think), "great fish tacos make long lines." Yeah, ok...you'll have to wait a bit. But for making such fresh food, the workers move the line pretty regularly--just enough, in fact, to not make you annoyed. The servers are also really friendly and efficient. They don't mind giving you extras or making special orders. Once your order is placed, it comes up quickly. Been coming here for 5 years pretty regularly and have never been disappointed. Portions are amazing, staff is super friendly and even when they are busy the food comes out really quickly. Highly recommend! read more

So yummy ! Best burritos and Awesomely priced! The staff there is nice and welcoming!I always get a burrito de lengua and the meat is so good ! Very hard to find a great place that sells good lengua meat read more
