Full disclosure: I'm borderline obsessed with Jersey Mike's. They cut the meat and cheese fresh when you order, which I think makes a big difference in flavor. At this particular location, the staff is all young kids but they are always very friendly, never pushy or acting like they would rather be anywhere else... you know what I mean. The owner/manager is always very friendly and I think it's the best bang-for-your-buck sandwich out there. WAY better than Subway. My favorite order is the turkey and provolone on wheat. I'm totally DONE with this place !! done-done-done ! The owner lady knows nothing about how to run a business. I "used" to come in specifically for the Rosemary Parmesan rolls. It's been over FIVE times now that I went in there for that, and she say's "Oh, sorry, We're out of that, we'll have to bake some more, sorry ... So I walked out. Multiple times. What kind of owner would allow that to happen ? The last time this happened a couple of weeks ago, she yells across the counter real loud: "Oh, well why don't you call ahead of time and check?" Call and CHECK ? WTF, - as a owner/supervisor, it's YOUR job to make sure you have INVENTORY! If you see a bread type running LOW, why can't you bake more AHEAD of time ?? What, the bread doesn't keep ? Why is it SO hard for you to "manage inventory" ?? How hard is to make sure you have all bread types available whether you use it or NOT ?? If I was running the joint, I'd be making extra bread, whether it gets used or not! Never coming back, period. I just can't believe that this woman would crap on her regular customers like this. Found a new, better place anyhow right around the corner: The 'iron grill'. In just the few short weeks that I've been going there, they are calling me by my first name, "remembering" what I like, and get this: they are NEVER-EVER out of supplies, - EVER ! I've heard great things about Jersey Mike's, but apparently this location is not under the same standards as the rest of the chain. Upon entering the place, the on duty manager shouted a racially related comment to my Vietnamese friend about his last name in front of the entire store, which alienated him from the minute we set foot inside. The sandwich artist that took our order spent about 15 minutes cutting the meat for our sandwiches, followed by an even slower artist who took about 10 minutes to ring us up and place toppings on our sandwiches: A total of 25 minutes to receive a TO GO sandwich order on lunch hour...not good to say the least. There was a line of five people forming when there should have been no line at all The sandwiches tasted quite good, but this location needs to take a course in speed, service, and diversity education. I grew up in NJ and lived in Philly for several years as well. Trust me, THIS is the real deal! The first time we visited, before we ate, we warned them that we would probably be critical. Well, it's been SPOT ON every time! My children refer to the owner as their West Coast Nonna. We love coming here. Great subs, great service, the owner seems to be there all the time, she's very nice. As far as the "not Wawa" comment in another critique, to those of you not trying to be East Coast savvy, Wawa is basically a Circle K. I'll take a Jersey Mike's done Mike's way in Covington over a Wawa sub in Pennsylvania any day. As far as the rolls go, nobody makes hard rolls outside of the east coast, must be the water or something. The subs here are good, but a total rip-off; the meat portions are about half of what they should be for the prices they charge and the "fresh slicing" is a gimmick. Don't come here unless you like being taken advantage of by corporate scheisters. read more

SLOW, the dude that was obviously the owner/manager, and not proficient at his job (maybe someone called in sick) was making sandwiches on a Sunday afternoon. Food was edible, but no better than a subway. All the fuss about slicing meat in front of me for each sandwich really just made me want to take a nap until it was done. At least ask the group ahead of time what they are all getting so you can slice enough meat for all their sandwiches instead of wrapping and unwrapping the same thing 4 times. It is going to take a lot of convincing for someone to get me to go back. Highly recommend! The place had a steady stream of customers, and was worth the wait. They slice the meat as they go, subs are huge, and prices are same as competitor stores with chain-looking subs and mass produced cold cuts. Homemade cookies, and the woman who owns the store is incredibly outgoing. Nice bonus: supporting a local businessperson who cares about her customers and her craft. This was my first time trying a Jersey Mikes sandwich. My first impression was that the place was super busy. It wasn't that there were so many customers, the employees seemed frazzled and all over the place. The options are kinda limited honestly. Only two kinds of bread to chose from. I got a pretty basic sandwich but I was really surprised by how bland it was. I also really hated how they dumped dried oregano all over the sandwich fixings. Very strange addition. Depending on who's running the register I've repeatedly been over charged and have over 8 seperate reciepts to prove it. Owner has an attitude mixed with a smile, but the employees are always great. The sliced ingredients have gotten thinner and thinner to the point one can see the daylight even through the meats and cheese. Time to cast our vote by proxy and move on to a better place like MSM Deli in Tacoma, bigger, better, and way cheaper by about $6 for the equivalent sandwich! read more

Went here Sunday for some subs and the wait was long, but worth it. The customer service has been second to none every time I have stopped in. Jersey Mikes in general has higher prices so it should be expected when you come in. The price is the only reason I don't give it 5 stars. The management seems very dedicated to serving the customer the best they can and the food has been great everytime. read more

#13, lettuce, tomato, light smear-o-mayo, deli mustard, and LOTS of pepperoncini's. I get it the way "I" like it and it is always superb! Will never eat another sub anywhere else. Being a Jersey girl, born in Point Pleasant, where the first sub shop opened in 1956 and now living in Wa State for many years, I was psyched to discover Jersey Mikes in Covington.The owner, Pam and I talk like old friends while I wait for my mouthwatering Jersey sub. Although the sandwiches are usually really tasty the past few I purchased were not the best, I'm not certain if it was the sub itself or the bad taste the young lady left in my mouth with her eye rolling and her " I hate customers" attitude. She has messed up my order before by putting the wrong meat and bread together. This place deserves more then 5 stars.. just for customer servise they go beyond what you might expect from a sub place.. they also make anything you want and they remember what you like from the first few times I went there. I started eating here after my daughter's dance team did their fundraising event last summer. Ok- the food/sandwiches are delicious. I totally love this place. It usually has a long line, but it is always worth the wait. Everything is fresh at the place and it is made right in front of you with the meat cut right there. If you are looking for a good place for a sub, this is the place. Can get a little pricey, but totally worth it. The only thing that I wish would be better is that as someone who has a wheat allergy I was a little nervous about how they cut the bread. They don't clean up after the last one, so it could potentially be a problem. Cutting white bread over the crumbs of wheat bread it could transfer. Hasn't been a problem for me yet, but it could be for someone who is more allergic. read more
