I have been extremely forgiving of the failures of this location. The good: ======= If you ask enough, you can get generous portions of veggies. The owner, a diminutive woman with nice, silver hair is mostly friendly. The poor: ======= The lettuce is usually rusty and won't last overnight in the fridge (but I know it CAN last a couple of days when they give me good lettuce because that's what I got the first time.) The slicer is shared between meat, cheese and veggies, which usually turns me away - but I really wanted some veggies and the weather has been deadly hot. They don't have side containers so if you want your bacon on the side to stay crispy until you get to your office or home - they stick it in a pair of drink cups taped together with scotch tape. The non-lettuce veggies vary in quality. The horrible: ======= I had an error on a phone-in order where I wanted all of the bacon (only) on the side and extra bacon. I got charged for 3 sides of bacon and I STILL got bacon on the sandwich, which I DID NOT WANT. I called, talked to the owner and she effing berated ME for ordering wrong, not being as familiar with bacon pricing as she is, REFUSED to even acknowledge the error on the sandwich, insulted me with seeming to insinuate I was ripping her off - when my order was, in fact, WRONG. She followed up by rudely hinting at me to go look at the prices the next time I was in the store - as if me knowing the pricing would have somehow enabled them to make my order correctly, with the bacon ON THE SIDE. After waiting a while before deciding to give them another try, I went back yesterday, a Sunday, and on my order I requested a side of bacon. The girl who was trying to get the drink CUPS to hold the bacon couldn't get them apart easily with her gloves on and decided to TAKE OFF one GLOVE, reach inside the cup with bare hand and separate the drink cups that were supposed to hold BACON. That's DISGUSTING and, I sincerely hope, illegal. Gloves are NOT optional. I was seriously apprehensive after this but... I decided to go back again, hoping the owner would be there and quality would be normal. Everything was fine as I waited for my order to be made until I noticed the young man in back (while the tall, slim, young woman made my order in front) wiping up something from the floor with dish towels. No problem, I assume they can sanitize the towels...until he picked up the towel from the floor and WIPED THE COUNTER BESIDE THE GRILL. I have worked in food, I've had a food handler's permit and I've worked in a variety of restaurants. In every one of those cases, that would have gotten that employee written up or fired and perhaps could have resulted in closure of the location by the health department. This is NOT Wawa. Not even close. It's not even a jersey-style sub, except that they have oil--but then, even Subway has oil. I really don't care how long it takes to slice meat, although I agree it takes forever, but I can't stand their bread. It's "soft" and a little flaky, and has a nice bit of fluffiness to it. Sort of like a french style dinner roll. Okay, if Subway does it, because they're not claiming to have Jersey style subs. But every time I get in an easy bite, I cringe. OMG. Last friday was a zoo. The staff were overwhelmed and thus they were not following standard sanitary guidelines. So disappointing. The woman in charge was yelling at everyone; including customers. The guy making hot sandwiches was apparently only able to make 1 at a time. So ridic. I won't be back. I love the subs from here especially The Big Kahuna Cheese Steak. The service is usually on point but I called once to olace an order and the young kid put me on hold. I was on hold for 15min. I drove there and told him, hey im still on hold. He apologized and helped me immediately but the girl behind the counter had such an attitude. I wasn't even mad or a dick about it. When I ordered two subs with wheat bread,she gave me attitude because it was the last two wheat breads they had. Very unprofessional. He was nice the whole time but, I don't need attitude because of your lack of memory or shortage of bread. Great food usually good service. Maybe I'm a poor judge of this place because I'm from New Jersey and used to frequent the original Jersey mikes. As such, this likely is more of a reflection of the franchise than any specific location. The bread is not right, too light on the meats and toppings, meats and cheese are cut too thick. One of the best Jersey Mike's. The customer service is outstanding and all the workers go out of their way to make the orders just the way you want them. There is an awesome manager there that has a great sense of humor, forgot her name but I'm sure you will find out right away. Food is same as any other jersey mikes. I've been going here for 5 years consistently and one thing has never changed and that is there QUALITY always top notch and the staff and owners are friendly and always eager to help you out around the menu to try new things. This is my favorite Jersey Mike's. The staff is always friendly, the place is always clean. The staff are all well trained and you always get what you ask for, and they go the extra mile to make sure that you do. Never have I been to a more cheerful Place to eat. It seems as though Elizabeth knows her customers quite well and her staff is just as good. Full disclosure: I'm borderline obsessed with Jersey Mike's. They cut the meat and cheese fresh when you order, which I think makes a big difference in flavor. At this particular location, the staff is all young kids but they are always very friendly, never pushy or acting like they would rather be anywhere else... you know what I mean. The owner/manager is always very friendly and I think it's the best bang-for-your-buck sandwich out there. WAY better than Subway. My favorite order is the turkey and provolone on wheat. I've heard great things about Jersey Mike's, but apparently this location is not under the same standards as the rest of the chain. Upon entering the place, the on duty manager shouted a racially related comment to my Vietnamese friend about his last name in front of the entire store, which alienated him from the minute we set foot inside. The sandwich artist that took our order spent about 15 minutes cutting the meat for our sandwiches, followed by an even slower artist who took about 10 minutes to ring us up and place toppings on our sandwiches: A total of 25 minutes to receive a TO GO sandwich order on lunch hour...not good to say the least. There was a line of five people forming when there should have been no line at all The sandwiches tasted quite good, but this location needs to take a course in speed, service, and diversity education.
