My son used to attend Kentwood high school and this place is right across the street. It was an easy drive from my current location and there is plenty of parking around the back. You have to drive around a little coffee stand and then take a short drive to get to the back of this place. Very cozy little convenience store in Deli. I opted for the 12 inch egg salad sub. They packed it full of ingredients and it was busting out of the paper that it was wrapped in. Service at the Deli was outstanding and the cashier in the front was equally as polite and kind. I recently stopped by Foss Grocery and Deli and was thoroughly impressed! The service was friendly and quick -- these ladies really knew what they were doing behind the counter. The deli itself is excellent, and everything is made fresh to order. I grabbed a sausage breakfast sandwich on a bagel (you get to choose your bread), and it was a really good size for just $6. Perfect way to start the day! I also tried the turkey BLT for $9.99 on seed bread. It came out thick, crunchy, and hearty -- exactly what I was hoping for. You can get it toasted or not, and it was loaded with all the veggies, including pickles. The several pieces of bacon were cooked perfectly! Every bite was fresh and satisfying. This spot seems super popular with the teen kids from Kentwood High School right across the street, which makes total sense -- it's a convenient and tasty option. The quintessential neighborhood corner market. I'll typically avoid here during school days/hours. But outside of that, they have all your food/drink essentials. A very large selection of various drinks and snacks makes it the perfect stop for said items. But the true hidden gem is the food! The fresh made sandwiches aren't gourmet by any means but it's a good home made sandwich. And the pizza made fresh is surprisingly delicious! It's one of my daughter's favorite spot for a quick lunch. The people are always super nice there too and when they bake cookies, those are great too! Upon entering, there's a pizza creation corner, there you'll see sweet ladies making Foss' famous pizzas! They sell by the slice or call ahead and order a whole pizza to take home! Only comes in one size (large), starts at $8.99 for a cheese, $9.99 for a pepperoni and extra toppings cost extra $1.25. I read a few reviews about this mart making pizzas, so I had to try it out myself since I'm down the street from this store! Took a large pep home, and the fambam loves it! My 4-year old daughter who would only eat cheese pizzas, fell in love with Foss' pep peetz! The dough is fresh, thin, and slightly chewy, which I love! Pepperoni is delicious! Right amount of cheese, however, the sauce is a little on a sweeter side, which I don't really mind. Cuz it tastes yummers! Came during lunch rush so there was quite a line at the counter. The three ladies working behind counter seems nice and friendly. Definitely will come back to grab a pizza home when I'm too lazy to cook! Move over all the big name pizza chains in the area! A few months ago I started working out of our new office located just across the street. I love this little grocery and deli store! I found it remarkable that most everyone who visited was known and greeted by name. As one who lived in Renton for many years it was like time travel back several decades. They make great pizza by the slice, wonderful sandwiches, and have a great snack and wine selection. Beer too, but I like wine! Plus regular essentials like milk, bread, meats, etc. Was wonderful to find a video online about them and realized I've been here many years before. As a kid on Sunday drives with my Grandpa and Grandma we'd stop by to say hello to the owners (circa late 50s early 60s). Awesome friendly service and heartwarming to see so many in the community think likewise. This place is usually pretty busy for all the same reasons I love this place. read more

This place may look like a run down market but inside you will find a wonderful family and their awesome deli! You can buy your typical things that you might find inside a gas station here: chips, candy, drinks, etc. But if you're hungry, they offer a deli with made to order sandwiches, pizza and they even do coffee! I came here with my brother to get some lunch. They make your sandwiches to order and you can pick your bread: white, light wheat, dark honey wheat or sourdough and also your cheese: cheddar, American, provolone, swiss, and pepper jack. Getting extra veggies cost 50 cents, extra cheese is $1 and extra meat is $1.50. However, they are so generous with what they put in your sandwich that I don't think the extras are necessary. #1 Chicken Caesar. If you like chicken caesar salad, then you will love this. This is basically a salad into sandwich filling form but so much creamier and dreamier. They definitely do not skimp out on the filling here. You aren't going to find any dry pieces of chicken breast in this sandwich because they make sure that everything is creamy and moist. You can add lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles to this as well. Every bite is just packed with delicious flavor. Definite must try. #2 Walking Turkey. You can get the classic turkey sandwich with cheese or you can get it with cranberries and cream cheese (almost like Thanksgiving!). I decided to go with the classic kind and get mine with added avocado (50 cents) instead of putting mayo and mustard on mine. I chose swiss cheese and added the tomato, onion, lettuce and pickles. The dark honey wheat bread is definitely hearty and is such a good combiner for all the elements. There is a lot of turkey in the sandwich and the veggies are fresh. I love how the avocado was super green and creamy when they made my sandwich. Overall, good hearty sandwich. It's about $5 for the sandwich which could probably buy you a footlong from subway but there was definitely a home-y feel to this sandwich. It's comforting and all the ingredients feel fresh and natural. The family here are very nice and make sure your sandwich is made exactly how you want it. This is THE PERFECT convenient store. Like many they are all the same. But not this one. UNBELIEVABLE Shame on FOSS MARKET. We have been going to Foss Market for many years. When the Pandemic hit we tried to go more often to support this community store. We have watched Kentwood students going to and from the store before school after school and even at lunch time. Our students have shopped many times. So it makes me so sad to have witnessed the behavior of the owner today, 06/13/2020. Our seniors have lost everything due to the pandemic. No prom, ROTC, Band, Choir & Orchestra all lost competitions and trips. Kids that play sports lost seasons. All these kids lost education and the right of passage known as a formal graduation. So back to today 06/13/2020....Kentwood Staff put on a Parade of Seniors, we all decorated our cars and our seniors put on their caps and gowns. We then drove in front of KWHS to the roundabout then turned to go past many teachers and faculty and well wishers in a parade of celebration. After this many families pulled into the parking area behind Foss Market and Cafe Elite. The Owner of Foss came outback to smoke her cigarette, and started yelling at everyone to get out of her customers parking spaces, we were there to order a sandwich from the deli inside. But the owner kept yelling and told us how much business we were blocking. This event lasted less than an hour from start to finish. Less than 60 minutes after all the patronage that has been given here.. No compassion for these students. No support for these students. Just threats to have everyone towed. Yelling big breaths of cigarette smoke. Unbelievable. When I pointed out the support we all have given to them she bellowed "too bad I can lose you I will get other customers". I will never shop here again. I would challenge everyone that heard this to leave negative reviews and to not shop at this store. Spend your money where it's appreciated. Spend your money at places that support our kids not just take. I still am in shock. read more

Wonderful mom-and-pop style grocery and deli. They are an old-fashioned convenience store, that sells everything from fresh produce to canned goods to camping supplies. They have a deli that serves delicious, made to order sandwiches and a coffee stand. I just ate their pulled pork with coleslaw sandwich and it was amazing!!!!
