I've been here twice and both times I got the Blintzes out of nostalgia. You don't really find blintzes on menus often, so if I find it on a menu I'll almost always go for it. I really enjoy this spot and it feels like a bakery breakfast spot I used to work at when I was in my early 20s. It's definitely not a trendy spot, but clean and maintained. Both times I went with family and could enjoy a relaxing chat without feeling rushed or urgency to leave since the location isn't super busy. At some point I'll probably try something besides the blintzes, but maybe not since they're really enjoyable. read more

We love coming here for breakfast. Something to keep in mind... They're only open until 2:30 PM and closed on Tuesdays. There is plenty of parking nearby. We have tried so many things and they have all been awesome. The crab and asparagus omelette is incredible and my wife loves the bagels. Our servers are always attentive and our great about answering any questions we may have. When we're done with our meal, we usually pick up either a pie or a loaf of bread to go. I used to frequent this place with family so many years ago and after visiting recently, I remember why we stopped. This place used to be packed and busy from open to close. I was surprised by the empty seats at the location. The place wasnt as welcoming despite the place looking the same as it did before. I ordered the crab benedict. It was supposed to be on an English muffin. It was on two pieces of stale bread. The crab was just okay. My friend thought the bagel wasnt bad though. Its just a bagel with cream cheese. We also ordered a mocha with two shots. Tastes like a decent cup of coffee. Our server was nice though. Left us alone and didnt bother us. You have to pay at the front to close out your bill, which we didnt mind as we spent a good time here catching up. Overall, it was ok. We used to love this place. Was a go-to with the kids on the weekends. The past several times we went was such a disappointment we just stopped going. The service is consistently poor and it's so expensive now. The food itself is good- we always get omelettes, but they charge like luxury hotel prices for being in Kent. They used to be packed all the time and now it's always dead which I think means other people feel the changes as well. The vibe is just not the same. We stopped by Wild Wheat to pick up some pastries after noticing this bakery while drinking boba nearby. This place seems to be more of restaurant, with bakery items in a couple of small cases near the front counter. Plain Croissant ($5) - The lamination and proofing are very suspect, resulting in overly large air holes rather than a consistent honeycomb structure. The bake is a little too hard, so the crust is dark golden brown and the interior is dried out quite a bit. Finally, the rolling of the croissant dough is not the best, creating a pastry that's kind of lumpy and off center. It's not a very good croissant at all unfortunately. I guess it tastes fine though, so that's something positive. (2/5) Almond Croissant ($5) - The croissant base is the same as above, but then they fill with almond frangipane and top with sliced almonds. The frangipane filling is somewhat gritty, sweet with great almond flavor, but has bit of strange taste in addition, like raw flour. The way they roll the croissant is also a little suspect since it results in a large nubbin on the side. (2/5) Marionberry Cheese Danish ($5) - This one's not bad. Very smooth cream cheese filling with plenty of tart yet sweet berries. The hard bake on the crust works well in this pastry to balance against the more moist filling/topping. (3/5) Ham & Cheese Croissant ($5) - This croissant is laminated in very thick layers, with the top being more like brioche rather than croissant. It's quite buttery in taste, with the ham flavor penetrating throughout. It has lots of cheese, kind of funky in taste and nice. If I think of this as a ham & cheese pastry, rather than a croissant, it's actually pretty good. (4/5) Chocolate Scone ($5) - This is a very bready and dry scone. Good number of chocolate chips on top I guess, but otherwise kind of meh. (2/5) Overall I found the pastries to be below average to average. Clean, well-spaced restaurant with friendly staff. A solid menu with some uncommon options. Portions are gargantuan, which I tend to find a bit off-putting. However the food is tasty, and one can always share or take the leftovers home. My fellow diners ordered omelettes which they really enjoyed. The crab omelette was generously filled. The latte was good, but it was served like a cappuccino. A double shot was the perfect amount of coffee to milk ratio. My vegan plate was good with a few surprises. The sautéed veggies were topped with fresh spinach and sprinkled with Kalamata olives which really elevated the dish. The home fries were nicely crispy, which I love. but could have been warmer.The falafel (garbanzo patties on the menu) were flavorful but cold. The winner of the combo was the helping of beans - creamy with a terrific flavor. I'm glad I ordered some bread to sop uo thé broth. We ordered bread and pastries to go. I opted for coconut cake. A nice flavor, but the cake was somewhat dense and on the sweet side. The sugar cookie with sprinkles was cute and not overly sweet. I look forward to trying their sandwiches. We have dined at Wild Wheat several times over the years and have always enjoyed it, even thought of it as a local gem however haven't been in some time. We went recently dined in on a holiday Monday and were very disappointed!! First, the state of cleanliness was very bad! The dining room needs a deep cleaning! Thick dust was observed on the worn, paint-chipped chairs and in low traffic areas of the floor; many pictures were hanging crooked on the walls; grime was visible on the walls and floor; the bathroom smelled heavily of urine. When a public space is this dirty and neglected, one wonders how unsanitary the kitchen might be! Service wasn't attentive - never had our drinks refilled or even checked on to ask how things were. The food was good and portions large but prices high even by current standards. Also it was a bit sickening to sit in the dining room. The owners and management need to work hard to improve from the OKAY rating from the Health Department and do some deep cleaning to return to the special restaurant it was years ago. We do not plan to return at this point. read more

OK, so I did return, still dreaming of the good desserts I've had there before. This time I was noticed and asked for my order as soon as I walked up to the counter. Told the clerk I needed time to see what was available. Clerk came back in 2 minutes again asking, almost demanding my order, as if they were in a hurry. I quickly ordered two items though I would have liked more time. The chocolate croissant was not good. It was a last-minute pick for Mother's Day brunch. And it did not disappoint. Maybe because it's off the busy areas, but we had only a short wait for a table for 6. We had called in advance and they do not take reservations, but it was early enough and we were expecting the worst for a special day like this. A table was prepared promptly when we arrived, and we were seated shortly. A round of coffees and the usual favorites-- moist fluffy pancakes, really generous serving of tasty crab omelette, eggs Benedict, pancakes, French toast. Sides were toast with house made jam and butter, and potatoes cooked perfectly. A little on the pricier side by the servings for one would be good for two hungry persons, or two meals. Service was warm and prompt. The inside was not too noisy for a busy morning. Overall we are so happy we picked this place on what would have been a stressful bush meal. What happened to this corner restaurant/bakery in downtown Kent? This used to be so charming and the go-to place to have breakfast or lunch with friends! I hadn't been in a few years, and all of that has changed. First thing I noticed was the food safety rating had dropped to "OK." Second this was the dirty entry mat (Weather has been rainy, but looked like it hadn't been cleaned or swept for weeks.) The flooring has been removed to reveal raw, stained and cracked concrete. It was fairly busy and super noisy! We were seated right away, which was nice, and the staff were friendly, but the menus were ragged and hard to read through the worn "clear" plastic. Prices have skyrocketed (like everywhere) and though there are lots of items, many of them are so similar it's hard to choose. They used to have amazing muffins, but now the bakery case is half full of cakes and half pastries & cookies that looked to have been purchased elsewhere. The hot water for my tea was not quite hot enough, and the mugs are small. The food came promptly, but somehow my eggs and toast were both just warm... butter didn't even melt. The scrambled eggs were dried out and crumbly. The breakfast potatoes (a mountain!) were not evenly cooked; little burnt bits (scraped from the pan bottom?) were mixed up with undercooked big chunks. Fortunately there were so many, I could pick out the best. My partner's omelette came out fine, but had the same potato issue. The wait staff kept the coffee topped up, which was nice. All in all, I won't be back. Super sad to lose this gem. read more

Lovely brunch spot in downtown Kent. A friend recommend this place to me when I first moved to WA. She said her out-of-town family LOVES the raspberry jam, enough to request to have it shipped! That tidbit was enough to intrigue me plenty to try. I've since been a fan and have shared a meal with friends and family many times over the years. The portions are hefty, the food is fantastic and not overly salted or seasoned. Last visit I had their mushroom omelette and goodness, was it delicious! It was FILLED to the brim with perfectly sautéed mushrooms. The house potatoes are also delectable. Each potato chunk is crisp and tender. And their bread? So good. I haven't had a piece of toast from here I didn't like. Add a little (or a lot) of butter and their famous jam and you're in for the best food baby nap in the afternoon. Service is consistently great as well. This last visit their lunch menu wasn't available and service was a little slow - but my group and I were there at 1 pm (they close at 3 pm). My guess is they may have been short staffed. Otherwise, everything was still good. This is a very home like place in a quaint part of town. Reminds me of a family business that grew over time. Very casual environment with plenty of seating. We arrived around noon on Sunday and it was busy but we were able to be seated right away. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They had a nice looking bakery area with lots of options. We ordered coffee which was much better than I expected. Also the pancakes and challah French toast. The French toast had almond paste in it along with cinnamon powder. The pancakes had buckwheat and were fluffy and tasty. Overall our experience was very good and we definitely will return. Enjoy! read more

So many things to note. This place has really gone down hill over the years. 1st thing that struck me was the "OKAY" food rating in the windows they recieved in May 2025. 2nd thing is how much more expensive it is to dine inside then doordash. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Literally would be cheaper to DoorDash everything and eat on the patio outside. *Ex. 1 pancake is $6.95 but only $5.50 on DoorDash. And $15.50 items are $18.95 when dining in. Also, extra maple syrup is $4? A 16oz Latte comes with a single shot and is $8? Flavors cost another $1. Milk substitute is another $2!? Price gouging left and right. For a place that barely passed inspection. Service is nothing special either. Especially for $23 stack for 3 pancakes. Idk how this place is still open with plates like Lezette, Sweet Notes, Macrina, and many more within a 10 minute drive. Haven't been here in close to 2 years and now I definitely remember why. When I traveled to the Northwest this used to be a regular stop. The vibe was relaxing, cozy but not sedentary. The bakery selection used to be amazing with an ample selection. The food was always on point. A few days ago we had breakfast and it was disappointing. The place looks a bit jagged and used. The restaurant now has a weird vibe, as though it's cold and without personality. The bakery display case appeared to be broken on one side so everything was stuffed into one unit and honestly it just didn't look fresh or inviting. The staff was nice but transactional. At the counters. Our server was very pleasant and to be honest, was the only reason why we didn't leave. The food was very pricey, 32 bucks for their top omelette but the portions were quite large. It competed with breakfast pricing that we found in Seattle's finest restaurants, which isn't a bragging point. My friends were all asking me "are you sure this is the same place you loved?" The raisin bread we were served was a bit old and crumbled apart. The portable mushroom omelette was delicious. Potatoes were great. I might consider this place again but I would probably pass for another. I want to love it. I just couldn't find it during this trip. read more

Ummm eggs Benedict on the waterfront in Kirkland at Beach House costs $15! I'm not understanding why it's so expensive at Wild Wheat. HOWEVER, I am still giving it 5 stars for the bread loaves because they are super delicious and I enjoy them. I also had a pastry once that was some kind of blackberry tarte that was very yummy! Love this place. Paulina was incredible. She introduced us to all kinds of bakery items like the fresh baked bread, danishes, bear, claws, etc. my favorite was the almond croissant. I order Grandma's Blintzes with a side of scrambled eggs. My friend ordered a side of bacon and some French toast. They have very large portions and it was delicious. Greeted and seated by a nice-enough worker, we found a table near a window for the views. Our seats had crumbs on them, but we sat down any way. We ordered their $5.00 coffee - mine, a decaf that was extremely sour. Having to ask for refills while they were able to refill every other tables' without question. Our water was the same. No refill unless you ask for some after having to wait to get anyone's attention first. At least it was cold and the glass was clean? If I have to ask for more water or coffee, it's too late. Our meal was fine. I could have baked a crumbly wet quiche at home for much much less. My daughter got waffles that were waffles- nothing to brag about. The $6.95 4 strips of bacon though- I'll brag about $6.95 bacon because they were $6.95. When people go out to eat, it's primarily for the food but also for the experience. If I wanted "okay" food, I should have stayed home. At least my family would have treated each other like we were wanted or welcomed. I typically leave 22% or more tip- depending on the service. Today, I left 15% and that is saying A LOT. If it were up to my husband, he would have left nothing. Definitely not the same owners. How could it be? Nothing is the same except the name. We drove 30 mins to go check this restaurant out and I'm sad have to leave a bad review. When you drive in bad weather with snow coming down on a cold day excited for a hot breakfast and it's not good. It sucks plus we spent $70! I had the $26 crab omelette, daughter had the biscuits and gravy, husband eggs Benedict. All of us were disappointed even my 14 year old and she usually likes everything, I mean just no flavor at all. Even the potatoes weren't good. I watched the waiter talk for a long time with the other staff and I had to get up and remind him about my cappuccino. Just a disappointing experience. Tried Wild Wheat for the first time 2 weeks ago with my dad on a Sunday morning. Paid $55 after tax, tip for 2 omlette plates, no drinks. After paying I went to the restroom where I saw a pile of rodent droppings. Men's room has an open drain directly in front of the urinal, and fomica wall cover is bulging. As I walked to the front counter I saw rodent droppings under the side counter and next to the pastry case. For the restaurant to be so heavily staffed, and for none of them to notice or clean this up on a busy morning was very concerning. I can only imagine what back of house is like. I've called 3 times and left my number, but no manager from the restaurant has responded. I hope they take this situation seriously. I won't be returning. read more

First time I enjoyed this spot was in 2016/2017 and it was one of the most delicious pancakes I have ever had. However, recently came by here in 2019, 2021 and in 2022 and each time I was hoping for the same quality of food. I was craving chocolate swirl cookies (my favorite from here). I saw a slice of carrot cake while browsing and decided to get that as well. When I was being rung up, I was told 2 chocolate swirl cookies + 1 slice of carrot cake is a total of $14. Upon further inquiry, a more experienced waiter corrected the price to be $2 per cookie (went up from $1.5 a few months ago) and $8 for the cake slice.
