Pretty standard sandwhich spot in Kent. Walked in and there was three ladies just squatting in the corner as I ordered on the kiosk. There was many options to choose from and I decided to get the ham and cheese grilled sandwhich and the chicken club! It was pretty standard, they brought out the food for us very nicely and it was warm. The total was very pricey at $29, for two sandwiches. I wouldn't come back here, the place was sticky, sandwhich is something anyone could make, and it wasn't anything special. I felt like it was store bought meat and bread. read more

At first glance I was excited to see this taco salad. Then I looked closely and thought it was strange to see cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, carrots and huge chunks of tomatoes. Looking for a breakfast burrito and this place had it written on the window along with an excellent food rating. I decided to give it a shot so I walked in. First thing I noticed was the espresso machine was broken along with most the other machines in the place. It was clean so I will give it that. Older lady, nice at first, behind the counter took my order, thought it was odd she still had her cooking gloves on and didn't wash her hands at all. She proceeded to take my $20 bill and sift through all the money in the register and handed me all of my change, not once removing her gloves. At this point, I knew dirty food was inevitable, as she started to touch all of the ingredients of my breakfast burrito. I had to kindly ask her to please stop and change her gloves, which in turn caused her and the other lady started yelling all sorts of absurdities at me in Chinese. I walked and asked if they changed their # and she said it may have been blocked accidentally but they don't know how to fix it. I was shocked. Love this place and love the people who work there! My husband and I have come here many times since moving to the area last year and they are always so friendly and cordial. It is very comfortable inside and the prices are reasonable. I have gotten multiple items from here, but my two favorites are the Reuben and the Honey Dijon chicken wrap. Here are my main things against the place: 1. In the morning, whoever is manning the fort needs to have a cheerier disposition. It's almost like there's this disdain for coming in to the place in the first place. Like how dare I, as a customer, walk in. I don't expect them to be uber-friendly, but enough to feel like I am welcomed. "Good morning". "Hi there"... 2. The prices are a bit high. I usually just go for the breakfast but even then I have a hard time justifying the price. I can't imagine the sandwiches so I just steer clear. 3. The little 1-ply toilet paper tissues that are on the tables are NOT napkins. If anything those are to place your drinks on (the ones they serve with cocktail glasses at hotels). Some of the food is messy (sauce, grease) so those "napkins" don't quite cut it. I get it: a strong, independent store that don't need no mainstream items but it really leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Go with me on a journey... I walk inside and immediately smell the strong best-part-of-waking-up-but-not-Folgers-aroma of breakfast food variety. It hit me as if I had been asleep until the moment I walked through those front doors. I mean, seriously, if the very definition of aroma. There was a couple sitting near the door by the window engaged in some morning chitter chatter. The rest of the spotless and organized restaurant was empty except for another gentleman, orange vest-clad, waiting for his meal (which ended up being a very delectable-looking double fried egg, bacon, and toast combo). One woman was in the kitchen, making it happen, and there was another guy who was making rounds around the restaurant. Once he delivered Orange Vest's breakfast, he came to me, right to me. When I say to me, I mean grabbed his order book and stood a few feet from me with a welcome smile. Something about the fact that he didn't go behind the counter like something procedural or protective was kind of dope. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and wasn't sure what to expect. This place was selected on a whim mainly because Starbucks had too long of a line. I waited, but not long. It was barely five minutes before there was a small white bag held out at the pick-up table by the woman who had been cooking. I grabbed my apple juice (oh yea, I also bout apple juice) and picked up my breakfast. I work nearby so I was at a table and ready to eat within minutes. First bite...my God, man... it was York Peppermint Patty status. I felt the sensation. I didn't go anywhere, mind you. I just had the sensation. Besides, I had to work soon. No time to go anywhere sensational. Each bite was a different experience, better than the last. Sometimes there was more bacon in the bite, other times, more cheese. Always egg. And the egg... lightly seasoned, just enough. Fried. The bacon, nothing crispy, not a ton of fat, just porkly deliciousness. The cheese was melted to perfection. I felt like it melted even more so when I ate it. It didn't harden and it didn't taste like some Kraft sliced cheese knockoff. I mean, it wasn't Kraft sliced cheese either. The bagel was heated up, but not toasted. If it was toasted, I didn't notice. Just a warm soft bagel sandwiching a trio of long-time breakfast combinations: bacon. egg. cheese. All in all, an incredibly flavorful meal. And for under $5. Kind of want to go back tomorrow morning. At some point, during lunch, I'll try one of their sandwiches. So for now, because of personable service, a clean and put-together establishment, and one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had, I'm giving Joe's Deli a five star rating. read more

So here I am on my way to get my transmission fixed for the umpteenth time in Kent (the seal seems to keep leaking) and I'm early for my 9 am appointment so I swing into this little joint next to Starbucks. I was actually headed over to Starbucks first, but when I saw the line wrapped around the building and the stream of people headed into Starbucks, I decided to Joe's Deli instead. Their breakfast menu is quite extensive with French toast, inlets, oatmeal raisin, biscuits/gravy and even croissant sandwiches! All amazingly priced at under 5.25. Granted, the omelets are more at 6-ish, but that's still less than most places up in Seattle! For those of you that have read the other reviews about pricing, I've posted images of their pricing menu so you can make your own educated decision. This joint might be confusing to some that walk in because customers are presented with what seems like a catch-all business that serves up 'power smoothies' next to Italian Sodas next to espressos next to soups/salads and there is even an extensive selection of candy (snickers, m&m's, etc). But odds are this place serves the Kent Valley well with such an extensive offering and the owners understand their customers well. I can tell you that my tuna melt was quite tasty as it was toasted and even had chunks of celery mixed in, which was a pleasant surprise! The soup was light and tasty with just the right amount of seasoning so as to not over power either the broccoli or cheddar. Overall, a good value for the dollar and I would come back again. read more

This is convenient to my work and I will certainly be back. Some of my coworkers had been raving about breakfast burritos, which I also have taken a liking to. This is where they have come from. They are a great deal and very tasty. This particular visit was for lunch. I ordered a club sandwich and a side salad. The ingredients were all fresh and the portion was perfect. I was pleased that the salad was more than just lettuce, they included other fresh vegetables; tomatoes, mushrooms, and cucumber. I love Joe's Deli. I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience here. The owners are beyond nice and always willing to customize my sandwiches for me because I'm picky about toppings. (I not a fan of most condiments and sliced tomatoes gross me out.) If I had to recommend something I would recommend the hot meatloaf sandwich. I took my daughter here for a late lunch/early dinner...Holy crap! This places is WAY more expensive than it looks! For her to get a soda, cookie and a sandwich it was just under $12! I was NOT impressed when I paid the bill, but thought...well hopefully the sandwich makes it worth it. Then we get the sandwich and it was on bread that is no better than Wonder bread, and barely any fillings at all. My daughter said it tasted good, but I would NEVER recommend anyone to go there. Don't get me wrong, I was not expecting a "foot long" but I used to work in a deli and we had 2-3 times more fillings and the bread was made fresh daily by a local baker.
