I ordered the corned beef and hash, but pointed at the menu while ordering and ended up receiving chicken fried steak. I debated sending it back, but didn't have time. The steak itself was a bit tough still, but the breading and sausage gravy were excellent. Eggs were really good, and hashbrowns were okay. I'll try the home style potatoes next time. Even with my order getting mixed up, I still enjoyed my meal and plan to return and actually try the corned beef and hash. Update- Stopped in for the corned beef. It would be great if your establishment posted ACTUAL hours of operation. We arrived at 1:45 to find the doors locked with a posted close time of 2pm. I get it, late diners are drag and you all want to go home, but I've never come across this type of behavior in a restaurant before. The posted hours should be your hours - end of story. Couple this with my first extremely poor experience at this establishment, where our server was entirely focused on the owners family, (I know because pictures were up during the grand opening) and I am never bringing my family back. In fact I should have left a review for that travesty of an experience and I don't know why I was willing to give a second chance to begin with. These Fairwood locals will now spend 30 minutes to get to a cafe in Kent with better hours and service. read more

Nothing fancy atmosphere, but very clean and comfy. Service was excellent and their menu is rich with unique and delicious choices, along with all the traditional items, as well. We had two of their items off the seasonal menu; banana Nutella stuffed French toast and a Monte Christo. I really hope they keep those forever, both were fantastic. Food came out pretty quickly but was cold. There were 4 of us. Others in our party ordered a breakfast croissant - which he loved. My husband ordered hash and eggs ( which came with toast). He liked it but hash browns were cold) and my daughter-in-law ordered Chilaquiles which she loved. My husband said best coffee he's had in a long time. So basically we'll give it another try. As I entered the restaurant, I noticed it was not full with lots of seatings. The interior was bright, reminds me like you're in a classic diner. As I joined my party, we were seated immediately. The menu was very standard and has all your basic breakfast/lunch foods. Prices are a bit hefty. I decided to order the farmer's omelet which includes sausage, ham, onion, bell pepper, and cheese with a side of toast and hashbowns. Overall, I thought my breakfast platter was just average. Nothing too special except if you want to shell out some cash. I understand that they're fairly new, my meal should not cost $20 with tips. So I went on a date with my husband for breakfast I ordered pancakes bacon and eggs my eggs were slightly overcooked and my pancakes and bacon sadly we're not anything extraordinary!! I also ordered a mimosa but it's easy to make mimosas, especially when you pour yourself My husband breakfast not to bad, he did not bother eating his hash browns as you can see in the picture they're very undercooked. Also ordered a Hawaiian coffee which was served somewhat lukewarm I did not bother to finish. We came in after going to a concert in Seattle. We were so excited to support a new establishment, however, it was a let down. When we walked in, we were ignored for around 10 minutes. No one at the host stand, there's a sign that says wait to be seated. So finally we flagged someone down and got seated. Server seemed new, kinda shy, totally get it. She told us the soup of the day and walked away to grab waters. When she came back, we started ordering and they were out of every single thing we ordered. LOL. How frustrating when the server hasn't mentioned anything from the beginning. I ordered biscuits and gravy, "oh we are out of gravy", then I ordered the eggs Benedict, "oh we are out of hollandaise", then I just settled with an omelette because God Forbid they are out of eggs. Then my friend went to order the avocado toast, "oh we are out of avocados", so she ended up with the spam sandwich.... Style and feel of place is very casual and like a diner. Lots of seating so place should accommodate larger groups and also has counter seating. Ordered ham croissant sandwich that came with havarti cheese, country potatoes on the side, along with a just bit of fruit as well. Not the typical croissant but it was good. Ham was like a carved ham too and not typical deli sliced. Sandwich had some weight to it and was delicious. Didn't wait too long but I did come in the morning and very few diners inside. The eggs were perfect, over easy, hash browns perfect and the sourdough toast was good. They give you your toast dry with a patty of real butter, I wish they buttered it right out of the toaster. We live a few minutes away and are excited to have a local cafe now down the street! It is a bit pricey but does make sense per the small business aspect - I.e for the price charged, if you went to a chain you would probably get a side of pancakes/toast in addition to your omelet/entree whereas here you do not get that. I ordered the vegetable omelet and my husband got the chicken fried steak. We were both pleased with our orders and the quality of how the food turned out. The veggie omelet had a lot of flavor and generous amount of vegetables inside. My husband noted the chicken fried steak had decent flavor and was very crispy on the outside. We came around 10:30am on a Saturday and didn't have to wait for a table but by the time we were checking out, we did have to wait a little to get the check as the restaurant filled. I give them 2.75/5. I understand that we visited during the soft opening, so hopefully changes can be made accordingly. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Pros: the chicken fried steak was crispy & tasted good. Eggs were cooked perfectly (asked for soft scramble). Coffee was good. Cons: the chicken fried steak was VERY thin. The eggs & the hash browns were bland. The price is WAAAY too expensive for the portions. (~$19). And didn't even come with toast. For context, traditional diners that are priced similarly usually have at least DOUBLE the portion size. AND comes with toast. We had to pay extra for it (~$2). Increasing the portions would be better than reducing the price, since labor costs would still be about the same if they increase portion sizes. We really needed a diner like this in the area, so going forward, I hope they can make the proper adjustments. I'll return & try their other menu items. read more

Had breakfast this morning for the first time at this cafe. My friend told me how good it was the last time he was here. Sadly there are small portions for the price and they charge $5 for 3 small slices of avocado! There was only one waitress for the whole place and we waiting a very long time to get more napkins and a refill of water. Wile eating my refied beans, there was a rock that I ended up eating a piece of. The beans obviously weren't cleaned very well. I showed the waitress the pieces of rock and she just told me that it's never happened before. She took the plate away and gave no apology or discount for the food. We won't be back!:( read more

Always love supporting our local businesses, it took a while to come here because I was nervous about the reviews but we had a great time and delicious breakfast! The interior is so cute, old school diner feel but clean and spacious with great lighting. The servers are wonderful and so sweet, we never felt neglected. My husband got the corned beef hash which he enjoyed, and I got the strawberry cream cheese French toast with cheesy scrambled eggs and bacon and hash browns- all delicious! Nice crispy bacon, the cheddar in the scrambled eggs was actually mixed into the eggs. We also had mimosas and they brought us the remainder of our bottles to finish the brut, which was great. Their coffee is also good, and they have the flavored creamers we always look for in diners! We will be back quite frequently to work our way through the menu. The country gravy was satisfactory on the chicken fried steak. The chicken fried steak, however was either deep-fried in a fryer with dirty oil or it was really overcooked. The meat inside was dry and the outer crispy part was dark brown and had a bitter taste to it, like it had been burnt. I would be willing to give it another try at this place. I don't know that I will order the chicken fried steak again though. read more
