Always a 5 star experience at OPH Maple Valley! Food quality is consistent, restaurant is clean, and staff are always friendly and accommodating. Love OPH! read more

We've been coming to this location for quite a while now. I have never had a bad meal here. The coffee is one of my favorite diner coffees, and is always fresh and refilled in a timely fashion. There is a broad range of menu items, and the portion sizes are very generous and filling. We almost always have something to bring home with us. I am obsessed with their bacon, so will order it as a side to bring home. The food is very tasty, having ordered the same thing on several occasions, it's always consistent. Our servers have always been attentive, though I notice when it's busy, they are definitely running around a lot. It helps that the usually have someone dedicated to bringing the drink orders at the start of the service. I like the family vibe in here as well, the weekends are always full, making it a great overall experience. There's plenty parking around, and though it's busy I feel it's worth the wait. read more

I told the manager and all he said was " that's crispy potatoes our customer like that" well not all customers . Manager sucks he's rude. read more

Country fried steak was chewy potatoes were half done and asked for pancakes to replace both. Get home pancakes are literally raw and batter in the middle. So sad because this place usually is a 10 out of 10. Went with my friend and her eggs Benedict on biscuit instead of muffin. It took 40 minutes for Food to come out. :( Server was very nice and accommodating though. Had nothing to do with him. read more

Family friendly breakfast spot. Hostess seats you. Reservations recommended. We needed a high chair with our party and the hostess set one at the table before we were seated. Kids menu is paper and includes crayons. Sweet. Menu has a variety of items including chicken sausage, breakfast sandwiches and burritos, corned beef hash, Eggs Benedict and of course pancakes. The 'maple' syrup is not actually from a tree. Our waitress Maisie was excellent. Friendly and attentive, she did a great job. She took our drink order right away (coffee, water and juice), and kept the coffee and waters filled. A food runner brought the beverages over with cream for our coffees. Sugar, salt & pepper are on the table. Another food runner brought the meals. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Eggs were prepared as ordered. Nice casual ambiance with a fireplace in the diningroom where we were seated. High chair safety buckle was broken so if your little one need that check it out. We arrived shortly after opening and when we left about 90 minutes later the restaurant was filling up fast. Restrooms are clean, a diaper station is in the ladies room and the toilets are a little bit low accommodating children more easily. Love that! Parking is shared with other businesses in the shopping area. read more

No idea what has happened to this place. It was the areas premier place for breakfast food, now the food is gross, undercooked and the place is also filthy. Something broke. read more

Pancake House has a super cozy atmosphere and I love the location with plenty of parking, which is really convenient. Unfortunately, I found a hair in my omelet, which was really off putting. The service can also be hit or miss, so I'm unsure if I'll be back despite the nice setting. read more

When it all comes down to it, it's The Original Pancake House so you can't entirely be floored by it but understand what you're getting from what is a chain breakfast establishment. Prices are high for what it is but that's the Seattle area for you. My service was kind and the meal did the job. I just needed to eat a massive amount of food (omelette, hash browns, and pancakes) that loaded me up for a full day in Seattle. Ultimately it's a sufficient place to have a sit-down breakfast in this Maple Valley/Black Diamond/Kent area. I couldn't really find any other such options that gave that cafe style. read more

The food is ok but the cleanliness is bad. The ceiling is CAKED with grime and dust is pouring out of the vents and across the weirdly painted brown ceiling panels. My thoughts are if the ceiling vents have that much dirt in the dining room- what does the kitchen look like. read more

We had a great time here around noon on a Saturday. The staff were extremely friendly and several servers complimented my dad on his hat. I was thoroughly impressed with our service the entire time. The food was excellent with big portions. The omelette was almost the size of a large plate. It must have been a 4-5 egg omelette. My chicken fried steak was tasty with enough country gravy to smother the potatoes too. Pancakes were big, fluffy and had plenty of whipped butter. They were indulgent and delicious. My mom had the corn beef hash and ate it all even though it was a large crispy portion. (And she barely finishes a plate at any restaurant.) Just the slightly burnt way she likes it. Overall I was extremely happy with everything. It felt worth what we paid for it. read more

I am honestly just plain sad to be making this review. My family and I have been going to The Original Pancake House for breakfast at least once a week since we moved to Maple Valley over 20 years ago. We raved to just about everyone we know about the food, the service, the portions and even the person on the other end of the phone when we would call in an order was like speaking to a little ray of sunshine. Now its almost impossible to speak to a human when you call here. Im not sure when EVERYTHING started to change but it seems it was around 3-5 years ago. My husband gave up on this restaurant a couple years ago but I have been a patient fan and hung in. Today I Quit! Its not because the side order of toast was not close to what I called toasted, had no butter and the condiments I made sure to ask for apparently no longer include any jam or jelly. Now ive spent momey on a side of toast that has no butter, not toasted. was not toasted and come without butter or jam. I hi were 50% not quite done being cooked and the other half had obviously been re-warmed so many times the fork couldn't stab them and I thought I had chipped a tooth. I am not removing this family restaurant from being an option because the people Ive interacted with no longer wear smiles and are extreemly defensive from the word Hi. Im not recommending this restraunt because I am no longer able to pay 7 bucks for a few ounces of juice that is sent with no straw. Not one order or trip in has been pleasant or issue free. Its as if everyone involved no longer has pride in their work or the restaurant. Last time I was in I was walking on someone's scrambled eggs that had not been cleaned off the floor. I am quitting this restaurant because management doesnt return calls or apologize when mistakes have been made. Its "my fault" the toast wasnt toasted or that I dont like potatoes that were originally fried days ago. I am quitting this establishment because I have not had a pleasant experience here in years and they have proven many times in the last 3 years that they do not care if we return or not. Bottom line is I give up and no longer recommend The Original Pancake House in Maple Valley even though we loved them for over 20 years. read more

This is our "go to" family breakfast spot. I really appreciate the ability to be added to a waitlist as we are driving there, saves time upon arrival. But be sure you check in when it tells you to, there are always people waiting and they are doing their best to move people along. I love their menu - my family (on a regular) orders the... BISCUITS AND GRAVY Husband is a Southern boy and he loves these BG. Biscuit is perfectly textured and the meaty white gravy is delish. EGGS AND POTATOES Lighter side menu - you get their potatoes which are sooo good, no hashbrowns here, and you eggs. No matter how I order the eggs, they are really well done (good). I get an English muffin which seems made onsite. I always add a side of bacon - you get 4 pieces - and they are cooked to perfection. You can go wrong with this. There's also a variation of pancakes, waffles or French toast that graces our table and no matter which is your pleasure you won't go wrong. My mom had the crepes last time and those were really good too. The service is ALWAYS friendly and it has a very warm, homie, and clean dining feel. Very family oriented. Love this place! read more

So this is the Original Pancake house. I'm glad I found it cause I needed some breakfast. I'm not a Washingtonian so I had never been here before but my daughter brought home a sourdough breakfast sandwich the day before that was pretty damned good. Obviously the next day we had to go try this place out. I love breakfast. Let me rephrase that. I love a hearty breakfast and the OPH serves up hearty. I ordered the Vegetarian Omelette and my Wife had the Ham and Eggs both with coffee of course. Both dishes were excellent and enough to fill us up. My wife was trying to explain to me how the omelette was so fluffy and the technique used to make it so. I was so in to my food the all I heard was the sound of Charlie Browns teacher. Wa Wa Wa. Regardless it was a great breakfast and these folks are doing a great job. Definitely Recommended. read more

Came in on a Thursday morning for breakfast, restaurant was mostly empty. They told us it would be about a 5 minute wait. We waited for 10 min and never were helped again. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else. read more

Okay so we tried it again for the third time. To start we had to register and wait for a table for 15min. That would have been fine but there were empty tables everywhere. Then the waiter asks if we wanted anything to drink, Two coffees please one with cream. He asks if we needed more time, well we did just sit down so yes more time would be nice. So we ordered a Chicken fried steak, eggs over medium, a side of biscuits and gravy and a side of bacon. The chicken fried steak was "okay" at best. Gravy was not very warm, eggs were over done. The biscuits and gravy came and again the gravy was cold and barely covered the biscuits. I'm sorry but for $9.26 for one biscuit it better be smothered in gravy. The bacon though were a good amount was over salted and who deep fries bacon? Ever heard of a broiler? The waiter comes back and asks if everything is good. I say no, bacon is to salty and gravy is cold. He says he can get more gravy and dose so.Then we get our bill, what breakfast restaurant charges $4.29 per cup of coffee? Really??? All in all the waiter was just okay. The wait was to much to the point that we almost left and went to McDonalds. Probably should have! The bill ended up at $51.36 before the tip. NEVER AGAIN! My advice, save your money! Food has never been worth it any of the times we've been there! Ambiance is good. read more

STOP THE PRESSES AND HOLD ONTO YOUR SPATULAS! The Original Pancake House isn't just a restaurant--it's a spiritual awakening masquerading as a breakfast establishment! Every pancake that floats out of their kitchen is such a work of art, the Louvre has been desperately trying to acquire their griddle for their permanent collection! PEOPLE. These pancakes don't just melt in your mouth--they perform a full Broadway musical production on your taste buds! The butter doesn't just sit there; it does a synchronized swimming routine across your stack! Their maple syrup is so pure, it makes Canadian maple trees weep with jealousy and question their life choices! Their Dutch Baby? OH. MY. GOODNESS. It's so fluffy, NASA studies it to understand cloud formation! It rises higher than your hopes and dreams, and it's bigger than your average mortgage payment! Scientists have been trying to explain how they get it so perfectly puffed, but some mysteries are better left to the pancake gods. The apple pancake? FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT PHYSICS! This caramelized masterpiece defies the laws of gravity and good sense. It's basically an apple orchard having a party in pancake form! They must have an entire apple-cutting dojo in the back where fruits train for YEARS to be worthy of inclusion! And don't even get me started on their coffee--it's so perfect, baristas make pilgrimages here to commune with its divine essence. The wait staff doesn't just serve you; they CHOREOGRAPH your breakfast experience with the precision of a Swiss watch factory staffed by Olympic gymnasts! WARNING: Side effects may include: - Spontaneous outbursts of breakfast-related poetry - The inability to look at regular pancakes without shedding a tear - Developing a deep, meaningful relationship with your fork - Starting a support group for people who can't stop talking about their pancake experience - Your taste buds filing for emancipation because nothing will ever be good enough again BOTTOM LINE: If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then The Original Pancake House is basically saving humanity one heavenly stack at a time. 5 out of 5 butter pats! I honestly don't know how I feel about this experience Half of the staff I interacted with gave me a good feeling about their customer service and half did not. No one was at the host area when I arrived yet the person that ended up seating me, saw me although she was washing a table and ignored me. Another girl came to that desk and never even looked at me And ignored me. The , someone told the person washing the table to come help me so she did but didn't seem happy about it. So there's that. Then the person who took my order, was very nice and checked in on me a lot and made sure I had what I needed. So that was good I appreciated that they had gluten-free pancakes. I had the plain buttermilk ones. Something about them had a slightly odd taste and I'm not sure if it was the pancakes or the syrup but I didn't end up eating them all as a result I had an omelette with only ham in it since I cannot have dairy and it was very good. I think they bake it because it comes very fluffed up in a way that I don't think you can achieve unless you bake it. it's definitely something you crave later and is very different than every other omelette you get elsewhere I would go again for the omelette only but know that the customer service wouldn't be that great. And as long as I had my expectation set, I would be OK with it. If it was the same omelette that other restaurant carried, I wouldn't go back again. read more

Always wanted to try this place and boy I'm glad I did! I have been to other franchises before but in my honest opinion this by far has been the best for me. We were greeted with Audrey whom was extremely happy and we felt her very good energy. Right away we knew we were going to have a great experience. Tod, the general manager showed up and he was exceptionally good humored that brought smiles to our faces. Food was delicious and portions were good. I suggest the pumpkin pancakes for people trying to cut the carbs, extremely tasty and so sweet not necessarily needing syrup. The ambiance was nice and felt like home. Definitely worth trying, I will be back read more

Although this location is closer to where I live, I still prefer to go to the one located in Redmond. The pancakes served here in Maple Valley are thicker than the ones served in Redmond (I don't like thick pancakes, but do want them to be thicker than crepes.), and smaller. They taste good - I'll give them that. But because of how much thicker they are, it totally changes the texture of them, and since texture is a big deal for me, I end up enjoying them a lot less. The bacon has been perfect every time I've ordered it here, though. The tables have a nasty degraded polyurethane coating that makes them all feel sticky and unpleasant to touch or rest your hands on. The service there is very good - the people they hire are very friendly and attentive. The restaurant overall is very clean - including the tables, despite how the polyurethane coating may make them feel. The wait can be very long here, especially on the weekends. read more

If you are looking for a great breakfast place, where you can try something a little different, then you have to try The Original Pancake House. I had the Belgian Pancake, (I'm pretty sure that's what it was called) it was the size of the entire plate, no syrup needed, just butter, powdered sugar and lemon wedges to squeeze onto the pancake. It was amazing, and very filling. You know a place MUST be good when there is a little bit of a wait before you sit down. (The breakfast was totally worth the wait). It was very nice and clean and the waiter and manager were very nice and wanted to make sure everything was good. Another thing that I noticed, the manager or whoever the guy was who was at the front , checked on his staff, the customers, the quality and the place was nice and clean, I loved that they had a fireplace going and we could feel the heat coming off the fireplace. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area! read more
