This Safeway location is basically on par with the rest of them. It's not warm or inviting, but it's overall pretty clean and we all need groceries. Signup for the club card if you want the sales price on the shelf. Oh...and now they want you to download an app so you can clip additional coupons, too. You are both the customer and the product being sold. The self checkout machines have worked as intended. ID checks greatly depend on who's working that day, usually it's quick and easy. The biggest thing I've noticed about Safeway in general: watch those prices! Of the things I buy regularly some of them went from Safeway being the cheapest to now being double (literally!!) the price than other grocery stores! It's to the point that I stop by Metropolitan Market and PCC first, maybe even Whole Foods, and then possibly finish up at Safeway and I think that says a lot. read more

Just stood in line for pharmacy for over ten minutes. Switched to drop off line instead of pick-up care and a. A couple of ladies behind me moved up to my spot. 5 more minutes the ladies get called while I was still waiting at drop off. I've gone here several times to pick up dog food and other items , it seems like every time I'm in here it's a gamble on whether the Internet works or not because they do have digital coupons or Members Only coupons or something you have to scan while in the aisle for the coupon or the savings to work and when I open up the app for the Safeway, it just sits there and spins like it it trying to load .I have reset my phone to see if it works and I get the same problem. 4/5 times I got food from the deli counter (packaged), bakery or herbs, everything went bad before the expiration date. Manager told me to come back "tomorrow" for a refund, but hesitantly still refunded it. I told my bf I'm not shopping there anymore. He went and got a couple of pies there anyway. Horizon Elementary School had an event in which we needed 15 dozen donuts. I called and spoke with 2 associates in the bakery department about our oversized order. They were so kind and made the process so easy. We were able to pick up our order last night and serve them today. I hate this location. So many issues with shopping here. First off, there are MANY items on the shelves with expired dates. Also, for the last few months the shelves have been frequently empty with many items not being restocked. But the biggest issue is with online pickup orders. If you place an online order here the shopper will frequently mark many of your items out of stock. Today I placed an order and noticed in the app that she started marking my deli meats out of stock-so I messaged her and she stated that there's only one person working the deli and they don't have time to cut my deli meats so I won't be getting them. Um, what? That's kinda crazy. I'm a customer. Just cut the meat I paid for and figure it out. The shoppers also frequently mark items out of stock and then I walk in the store when I pick up the order and immediately find them on the shelf. It's really gone downhill in recent months and I highly recommended just driving up the road to the other Safeway and shopping there instead or at Fred Meyer next door. This place is a wreck. I've shopped here on/off for 20 years and the last 5 years have proven to be too much for this place. Hours after opening the commonly have no fresh bakery items out (just like this morning), the store is still full of carts, dolly's, and ladders w/people restocking so it's like an obstacle course trying to get through the store, and the floors & shelves are dirty . And the plethora of druggies/homeless that are allowed to loiter in front and around this store is ridiculous .I'm so tired of having to drive to other cities to shop - but I guess that's what they want. read more

They need to seriously remodel this store. It's so dated and old feeling when you enter. Employees at this store really aren't that friendly and walk right past you when you ask them a question. 10/10 do not recommend working here. I worked here for over a year and i don't know why i stayed so long. The management treats you like shit no matter what you do, you have to constantly deal with homeless stealing and being around the store. I even had to deal with a group of people trying to shoot it up cause they got caught stealing. I was a courtesy clerk and I felt VERY unsafe being outside getting carts alone at night due to all the homeless sleeping on the sides of the store. At 16 i was forced to clean up drug paraphernalia in the bathrooms after homeless being in there. read more

I stop in at 7:00 am often- on my way to work. This morning I got in line for Starbucks behind a store manager. The Starbuck manager was busy flirting away with him- she barely acknowledged me- and continued to fix his drink and still chatting with him. I was on my way to work- and couldn't wait. The staff here are very friendly and very consistent. But, i went in today the weekend of the 4th of July and they only have 4/6 lanes open when the lines are literally blocking people from walking by. I go in for hamburger buns and have to wait 10 minutes to get out of the store???? i wasnt going to write a review for this experience, but since it is a chronic problem at this Safeway that they wont fix, i did. I am surprised that this store has *two* stars. If it were possible, I 'd give them one. I just spent 10 min trying to buy a coke from the delicious. I was in a hurry, so it was especially onerous. Aft r the ice machine NOT working, and trying to get a refund, delivery clerk wiggles the machine, and gets ice o come out. COOL! Then the Coke comes out looking like cream soda. No, can't give me a refund, have to truck over to customer service. Then wait to put $1.85 back on my credit card. I would have been happy if thy had given me a bottle of Coke with the ice. In March, I bought a $400 Home Depot gift card on a Thursday, by the time I tried to shop of Saturday Morning someone had compromised the card and spent it all. We went back to Safeway and they said there is nothing they can do. And that it HAD happen before to another customer. That customer also bought a Home Depot card so we thought it was only for Home Depot store, but we bought a Jack in the box gift card in May and it was comprised also. And Safeway will not do anything about it. read more

I have tried over and over to shop here. It never works out. By the time your cart is ready the lines are out of control. Always 4-6 people deep. I have tried at different times on different days and always the same. I even called the manager but all they say is sorry. Well, you are the sorry one. I just head on over to Fred Meyers and get what I need. Usually no less than $250 a week on groceries. Also I do my best to bash this store with my friends - I find ways to get complaints in mainly because they suck and they never do anything to change it. read more

At least when I went there was only one human lane open and that was for 15 items or less. If you had more you had no choice but to use their new self checkout system! Doesn't work well in a grocery environment where you have lots of produce which doesn't scan so you have to look it up and a tiny bagging area. I used to be okay paying higher prices here (than say WinCo) because they bagged the groceries and it was more convenient, but now WinCo actually has better service since they scan it and provide ample room for you to bag (at cheaper prices too). This Safeway is good however I have an issue with 2 young men who were standing outside the store just outside the exit begging for money to support their high school football team. Bad idea! We particularly like some of the items in the deli, and make a trip to Safeway for our roast beef for sandwiches with the football games. Another area that we make a special stop for is their cake. This location is really great, and the prices are wonderful too. For a while they were getting pretty low on stock of some certain items in grocery but luckily and lately that issue has been fixed. I appreciate the attempt at making this location easily accessible but what in the hell happened! In the last 27 years, Covington was a little destination away from Maple Valley. This location has slowly dissolved into pure and utterly chaos! I am appalled. I went in yesterday and saw the disorganization. The staff at the Starbucks were leaned against the wall gossiping, the carts were barely organized. I was shocked by the stacks of cold case foods that weren't even within the cooling air by the front soup area. I went down the cereal isle and was convinced I was going to get sick. The amount of boxes shoved, Tetris ' ed in just to BE there, was appalling. After finding little to no inventory in the yogurt brand I wanted, I went up front to check out. Two cashiers and they had no back up until one of the cashiers sneered and said "oh Jackie is our back up, great!" Well, Jackie, HELP YOUR FELLOW EMPLOYEES!
