This review is worth mentioning for my recent visit on 8/22. Don't know what it is but customer service was terrible. I would say about half of the employees normally are super friendly, and half seem like they have a chip on their shoulder. Went to order some of the Chinese food and even though he saw me standing there, still ignored me. Ordered my food, and barely got any interaction. Then when I went to go pay, I decided against the self check out and went to pay at the line. The lady (Diane) said NOTHING. Didn't say hi, didn't tell me my total, nothing. Even when my 2 year old said hi. Despite him being ignored, I told him that he had good manners and some people don't. Please tell me this isn't the norm!!! At least 20% plus more expensive on items we normally buy. Ridiculous. And our checker refused to scan our safeway card. We've used it before and it works for "card savings" prices. It's been awhile since I've been in this store. I usually frequent other locations but this was convenient tonight. First: Don't eat the Chinese food. It was once great a deal but no longer. That's saying a lot because if I'm hungry I'll eat almost anything. Sad thing is I normally buy a salad from the deli but they didn't even look good. A few of the prepackaged pasta salads were about to expire and looked sad... they should've been marked down. I even went to meat department thinking I'd buy a piece of marinated fish to cook and the meat department smelled bad. Second: the produce looked good. My go to grocery store now that i live down south! What i love about this grocery store is that they have more organic food options than the other regular grocery stores i have gone to. They also have a Starbucks located inside so if you want to keep yourself 'sane and awake while you shop for food, head on down to Starbucks before you start. Theyre located inside, at the right side of the main entrance. Plus Haggens has their own mini cafe where you can order to go or sit down and eat in their little cafe. I am writing this review because I am hoping the right person at Haggen will read this and be able to correct the problems. I have been a Haggen shopper for the last six years and have usually been happy with everything there. The last 5 or 6 months, there has been a serious problem with offensive odors towards the back of the store. I am not sure what is causing the odor, but it is pretty bad! The other serious issue is the fruit Fly/gnat problem in the bakery cabinets where the fresh breads are and donuts, muffins, and cookies are. It is unsanitary in the least. The fact that these little bugs are all over the food and are laying eggs on these baked items is even more disturbing. I truly hope that Haggen can correct these problems so it feels like we are shopping in a clean and sanitary grocery store, especially at the prices we are paying to shop there. read more

You know the truth of the matter is, I really like Haggen Food & Pharmacy for it's well manicured isles, groceries and deli. There was however an unusually strong fishy smell at the deli counter where what appeared to be the dregs of older fish were stacked/displayed. Haggen's offers such a variety of little eateries where one can enjoy sushi, fried chicken/fish, stir-fry and a variety of ready made sandwiches (which appeared a bit dry). Now the 'bad' part. Prices. On our retirement incomes we could not afford to shop at Haggen's often. As an example, we purchased some frozen Dungeness crab at Fred Meyer's at $6.99 per pound. Haggen's price: $14.99 a pound. Yikes! The crabs appeared the same, stacked on ice, but where is Haggen buying their crab from, or is the price an indication of mark up? From time time I really enjoy getting around the store (handicap scooter) and observing what a clean environment looks like. Staff was extremely tentative and helpful. As a matter of fact a young man offered to fetch me a scooter having observed me walking in with my cane. Nice gesture. The entire store provides for an enjoyable shopping experience, but sticker prices might keep it a look-see vs look-buy. read more

I have to give a HUGE shoutout to the Haggen's bakery in Lake Tapps for creating this tasty masterpiece! Not only is this mouth-watering treat visually stunning, it's downright delectable. The decadent cream cheese frosting pairs perfectly with the soft and moist red velvet layers of cake. I'll be honest, grocery stores aren't the first place I look for a gourmet treat unless it's a last minute emergency. I know that sounds snobby but usually those toothache-inducing cakes are overpriced, dry, and lack any flavor dimension at all. Design-wise, they made exactly what I was hoping for (fall themed.) On August 24th I went to the Haggen store near Lake Tapps in Auburn to get my prescriptions filled. As always the pharmacy people were wonderful and they took good care of me. I then went to the bakery and got a load of jalapeño bagels. Personal note: the bagels are awesome with jalapeño pieces cooked in as well as slices cooked onto the outside - best ever, I have my entire neighborhood hooked on them! As I was loading up the bagels the paper bakery goods bag tore down one side making it necessary to carry the bag lengthwise to keep the contents from spilling out the tear. I then proceeded to the checkout stands with the self checkout being the only till open. I paid for the bagels with my EBT card and the attendant asked if I needed a bag to which I nodded yes. She promptly added the $.08 charge for the paper bag. Now I want to paint a picture of the situation: I was holding a small white paper bag filled precariously to the top with pill bottles since I get a full 90 days worth at a time for each of my numerous meds. Also, I was holding a partly torn bag of my trove of bagels, which was also precarious. Also, I was carrying my cane as I had had a stroke recently and yes, I am an old guy. Fumbling with my wallet without it spilling everything onto the floor is challenging for me. I had just finished paying for my bagels and I was plenty ready to leave the store but because the attendant charged me the $.08 for the large paper bag which did not ring up on the EBT card because it isn't food, I had to pay the fee with cash. I don't carry change as a rule so I had to stick a $5 bill into the computer. This resulted in me having to open my wallet yet again to insert the newly received four one dollar bills and also the $.92 in change into my pocket. So here is my complaint. I was obviously having a bear of a time while looking silly because my hands don't work properly when I am also doing my best to even stand up without falling and as a result of an additional fee of $.08, which is against the Washington State laws on EBT purchases, my physical challenges were multiplied. I have the receipt that shows the bag fee charged on a purchase of EBT food items so there is no disputing the obvious. Why did the computer allow the attendant to break the law, surely I am not the only one. I don't care about the $.08 but the added burden was quite aggravating. I forgive the self checkout attendant because she is undoubtedly robotized by the nature of her tasks, but I do not forgive Haggen corporate for checkout software that is not compliant with State laws (ref: https://apps.ecology.wa.gov/publications/documents/2107018.pdf). A response from the store would be appreciated. read more

I came specifically for kombucha, my co-worker said it's tapped and you bottle it yourself! I was excited but not having ever done it much to my dismay it comes off the tap like beer! It foamed up quite a bit. The 64 oz "Growler" was $6.99 and then .20 an ounce. I didn't get to full mine fully due to all the foam. At checkout I mentioned I didn't know the secret to the pouring to avoid foam. Debbie the checker said pour it like beer to tilt the jug. I was like ooohh! She did not charge me the full 64 oz, but only 55 oz. I was satisfied. We shall see how this goes and if i return. Lovely store and products, staff helpful and outlet impeccably clean. As soon as I found out this was close to my house i was excited and started going as often as I could. I am eight months pregnant with a serious donut craving and we don't have very many good classic donut shops in the area. Out of all the grocery store chains haggen has the best fresh donuts, USUALLY...except for the last two months every time I go in there they don't have any of their classic donuts, they've been making an abundance weird flavor donuts instead...It's clear nobody wants to buy those, and they aren't making enough or any at all that day of the classic flavors so they either sell out immediately or dont have any available but the case is full of odd choices. I appreciate they're trying to be creative, but I was buying dozen donuts multiple times a week when they had the donuts I actually buy... very standard, glazed twist and regular cake donuts... they have a surplus of blueberry cake donuts and pumpkin spice cake donuts which to be frank, i accidentally bought once and they were awful...It would be really awesome if they started making more of the original flavors for those of us who preferred classic donuts over jazzy gimmicks like legendary donuts next door. I make a point to stop in every day that I work just to bring a dozen donuts with me to work and the last two months that I've gone in I've left empty-handed and gone out of my way to stop for no reason with a craving for the classics. I still love you guys I just thought I would leave a review hoping somebody sees it and can maybe advise the bakery to stick to the basics no need for random bells and whistles with a legendary donuts in your parking lot...you guys were my go to because I prefer your bakery over theres because you were making the classics and I have no idea why you started making all these weird flavors instead of the basics. While working down the fill from Haggen, you don't have that many options when it comes to lunch. It's always nice to get something that is not "fast-food". But after today, I will gladly drive further or grab something out of a drive-thru window instead of going to Haggen. The new remodle looks great, but I didn't think you would need to jack up the prices so bad that it forces people to stop coming in for a nice, quick lunch. I was already surprised at the salad bar hike in price, $9/lb for a salad, and believe me, it adds up really fast. Today a few coworkers and I go in and see it is now self-serve Chinese food for $9/lb. While before you could get a side and 2 entres for $8 and it was well over a pound, now you want me to serve myself, and try and make the portions do-able without going over a pound?! My meal that normally costs $8 and some change, came to $14.03 in total and wasn't half the amount that it was before the self-serve station arrived. You've lost not only one customer, but quite a few from my work place today. read more

I like the look and layout of this store and I like that they carry some unique, organic and healthy products, HOWEVER, in my opinion the store is lacking in several areas. If you come late at night they will not sell you some Kombucha items (I don't know any other grocery store that does this), you will not be able to purchase a gift card such as VISA (I don't know any other store that will not allow you to purchase a gift card regardless of what time it is), the registers are closed for thirty minutes and you cannot purchase during that time and lottery is shut down at a certain time and you cannot purchase tickets. Additionally, I've had a couple of cashiers watch me while shopping and it was very obvious and made me feel uncomfortable. I know retailers have to watch for theft but the way they did it seemed very unprofessional. read more

I use to come and spend 50 dollars or more a day on random things (i have a shopping problem) Having a Starbucks inside makes it easier to shop..but the prices are wack. I online shop now and avoid haggen. I live 2 mins away from it but it's no longer convenient. Also the flower arrangement really are ugly..use to love the combos but recently no... my husband asks me what kind of flowers do you want ? This is a review for Haggen's in Auburn, WA, near Lakeland Hills. This is not your average supermarket. How do I put this without sounding snooty, but this is way above your average super market, and compares with some of the best supermarkets in Bellevue. They are near Lakeland Hills, where people have lovely homes, jobs, and money. The prices are higher, but the quality of food is much better than, um.. average Auburn. It is just pleasant to shop here. If you want a special bottle of wine with your dinner, they have a trained person dedicated to wine selection. They have food items that cannot be stocked at other super markets. Their plants are better than you can find at most nurseries. What can I say, it's just really nice to shop here. Yes, you will pay more, but you will get quality for everything. For example, if you are looking for PRIME steaks, equal or better than Costco's, for a special occasion, you can find them here. They are a little more costly than Costco, but much more convenient. The cookies and baked goods are the best anywhere. When their lunch area opens up again, you can get a salad bar equal to none. read more

The store is great in the fact that there are a lot of unique things, locally made in Washington. The prices are high for groceries though. We have been loyal Haggen customers for 4+ years and overall have loved the store. The staff have not always been welcoming, but we've never been made to feel uncomfortable in the store until today. Unfortunately, we had just a terrible customer experience that we feel compelled to share. We walked in without a mask as we have numerous times before and this time, the store manager chased us down into the produce section. He asked us if we had masks. I asked if they were required. He replied: "did you not see the huge sign in the front of the store?" in a very arrogant and condescending tone. We respect that the store has its policy, however many other customers were walking around without masks and were not approached. There is a way to approach this more tactfully and respectfully. Based on this experience, we do not plan to shop at Haggen for the foreseeable future and would ask them to do better. read more
