There are breakfast and lunch options available, yet I didn't see many patrons ordering anything on a cold, January 2019 day. Not even some of the snack items, which were pretty much muffins and cookies. The coffee selections of espresso, regular coffee, and iced coffee (Americano with an espresso shot was my choice) was actually quite good. Customer service was not bad. A memorable experience? Well we stopped here for some breakfast and coffee drinks. All they were selling to eat is muffins. No breakfast sandwiches and burritos. The honey muffin was cold and pretty dry. I think it had been frozen. We ordered Mocha Frappe drinks. I couldn't taste the mocha just a big taste of caramel which I'm not a fan of caramel. I don't know if he got it wrong or they just add caramel to it on their own. We spent $24 for 1 coffee, 1 muffin, and 2 small mocha frappes. We will try the donut shop next time we are in Fredicksburg. read more

Ordered a mocha. It tasted like weak hot chocolate. They were pleasant and offered to make me another one. It was only slightly better. My friend put up with her hot chocolate which tasted like warm milk with peppermint flavor. The counter people are not making the espresso shots themselves. A machine does all the work. I would suggest recalibrating the machine, getting a new machine, or get rid of the no-brainer machine completely and go traditional with trained baristas. read more

My wife and I enjoyed our early morning breakfast at Java Ranch. The coffee, breakfast biscuit and breakfast croissant were really delicious. We came in on a Tuesday morning--it wasn't too busy, but it had quite a few people inside nonetheless. For those worries about COVID, the seat spacing is well-spread out, however it seemed this particular morning masks when entering were optional. Some people came in with them, others did not. I decided to add Hazelnut flavoring after the fact and it was really good. The restroom is OK, nothing fancy. Such a cute, quaint coffee shop located in Fredericksburg! (hence the name) We were looking for the closest Starbucks (although I had a feeling there wouldn't be one anywhere near), and our GPS directed us here. No problem for me since I love visiting local coffee shops! They weren't terribly packed, but there was a good crowd. A lot of people were drinking coffee, but we did see some pitchers of mimosas. Aside from the baristas welcome (not) he did make a good dry cappuccino. The coffee wasn't burned very smooth and creamy and most kids do not know what a dry cappuccino is so it was nice to see he did. My mom works with the local sheriffs department and the staff here ALWAYS treat her exceptionally great...in and out of her uniform. It's great to know that there's a community full of locally owned businesses that continue to show everyone equal respect (especially with all the stories you hear in the news recently). The coffee is great and the coffee shop is located on Main st. The shop is nestled between many stores and prime local shopping! The shop does get very busy, especially in the mornings but the employees do a great job keeping the line moving at a fast, friendly pace. My whole family loves this place and I always try my best to go as much as I can when I'm in town. I will always recommend this place to anyone. Honestly making this one star solely based off of their cold brew. Not to be a "coffee connoisseur" but if you know coffee you know what cold brew is supposed to be and theirs tasted like actual water. I got lavender vanilla and cream and I'm telling you it tasted like a hint of lavender in water. I'm not even convinced there was actual cold brew in the drink at all. I just love discovering new coffee places and this little cafe was a fun find! I ordered a large white mocha and the coffee was strong and smooth. The drink was well made and priced competitively. The customer service was friendly and the staff looked like they enjoyed the tourists coming in. They don't have a full menu- but they have an assortment of muffins and kolaches that looked pretty appetizing. Sunday morning 10:30. Three very uninterested teenagers making coffee. Not friendly. No urgency. Huge line. I asked for an oat milk latte, the guy pours in 1/2 cup of regular milk, then says "oh" and finishes the drink with oat milk. I was standing in front of the counter and he handed me the coffee and said: here is your oat milk latte. What the heck?? There was regular milk in it. What if I am allergic?? Unacceptable.
