Overall, 1 of our favorite food stops on this trip! Our order consisted of 1 order of bang bang shrimp, 1 spinach & artichoke dip appetizer, a shared seared salmon dish (not pictured), 1 blackberry margarita (not pictured), & 1 blueberry mule (not pictured). For me, the best part of our order was the bang bang shrimp. If I get to go back I'll just order 2 of those & call it good! The spinach & artichoke appetizer was good, but offered a pretty standard flavor profile. The seared salmon was the best salmon dish I've tasted in a long time, paring nicely with the mashed potatoes & roasted veggies that came with it. Both cocktails were amazing, but my wife said the blackberry margarita was fantastic. The most negative thing about GH was extremely limited indoor seating availability & the lack of reservations, but now you've been warned. It was a short trip for us, but we will be back to GH on our next visit to Fredericksburg for sure.

But the chef did not cooked the meat medium rare. It was well done and it was still delicious . The Manager provided a compensation for the error. The Chef might have had an off day.. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I was too full to order desert. I will go back and try the banana foster. The table next to is ordered it. The desert was enough for 2 people to share. The establishment is beautifully decorated. I recommend this place.

Initially, the hostess told us they couldn't accommodate our party, but then they changed their mind. The interaction felt uncomfortable, as she emphasized their policies for large groups and mentioned that they normally require a minimum of $145 per person. She ultimately allowed us to bypass that requirement as long as everyone ordered an entrée. Our waitress, however, was wonderful and provided excellent service throughout the meal. I ordered the clam and mussel pot, which I found surprisingly bland, though the bread was delicious. The rest of my group seemed to enjoy their meals much more than I did. Unfortunately, there were also some cleanliness concerns. A spider descended from the ceiling onto our table during dinner, and another bug crawled across the table. There was even a bug zapper in the corner of the restaurant that seemed to be going off constantly throughout our meal. For a party of seven, our bill came to around $700. Given the overall experience, the food quality, and the atmosphere, it felt a bit underwhelming for the price.

While passing through Fredericksburg with my wife, we were ready for a good German meal. Checking…read moreYelp, we discover that on a Tuesday evening, most of the German restaurants in town have already closed at 3pm. That's when Otto's stood out to us. Not only was it the first restaurant to show up on Yelp (very highly rated), but also it was OPEN. While it may have been an accident that we chose Otto's, it was a lucky break. They were awesome. It was very busy, so we had to eat on the patio, but our table had plenty of shade and a nice breeze from a wall fan. It's a block off the main drag, so you don't have to put up with lots of traffic going by. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food didn't take too long to come out. The selections were fairly extensive. The food quality, portion sizes and flavor were spot on. We also highly recommend the Black Forest cake.

It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. But my socks are still on, and they won't be walking back to Otto's. Extra star for the great location.

My husband ordered brisket, and my mom got some pulled pork tacos. The meats were perfectly cooked, and I loved the options for sides. Service was great. We sat outside and they brought our food out to us. Plenty of room to sit inside as well if it's too hot. Let's talk about what truly matters: THE BBQ SAUCE. This is the best BBQ sauce we have ever had! We bought two bottles and brought them home with us, and we are SO sad they are almost empty. We would love if they could ship it! I would give it as Christmas gifts, it's that good. If you're in the area, definitely stop at Slims BBQ. The only thing you may regret is not buying more BBQ sauce!

"Right there, Slims", we both hollered after searching the blocks our navigation system was guiding us. To us, it was not well signed but a quick visit out front revealed there was plenty of signage. Must've been the crappy navigation system we were using. About $38 worth of three meat items that came with two sides. We chose a red potato, corn salad and coleslaw. We also tired their very good Mac and cheese. The plate also came with two slices of tasty Texas toast. We also bought a Lone Star beer and an ice tea. All of their home made sides were delicious, but were even better the next evening while in the hotel room. The food and friendly service here at Slims was surprising. We weren't expecting such great all house-made food, but the warm Texas hospitality was almost a given. Thoroughly enjoyed this visit except for the flies on the patio. The flies weren't there when we sat down, but a soon as the food was brought out, it was like we were sitting in a horse stall, but that's ok, cause they don't eat much. Dicks Pretty tasty Texas BBQ
