Well this a two in one review because we stopped by twice, once for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was fast, fresh and delish. We ordered huervous rancheros with egg whites and moco loco. It was more than enough to full our bellies for zip lining. The patty for the moco loco was cooked perfect and egg was on point. The second visit was not as great. We ordered a veggie wrap to go and waited outside for the order. It took 45 minutes for a wrap and side of pasta to go. The wrap was nice and big however waiting for 45 minutes for ingredients that did not need to be cook was disappointing. We are up in the air about stopping here again while on vacay. read more

Awesome local spot in Kaanapali for affordable food and drinks. While we only got a couple cheap beers on draft, we stayed for the experience. The vibe inside was divey and comfortable, with walls filled with all sorts of random things to ogle at, like a museum of memories. Everything from Polaroids taken by visitors, a variety of lanterns and mobiles hanging from the ceiling and random instruments, posters, and chotchkis lined throughout the walls. Lastly, the live music was great (nightly from 7-10p), playing a variety of classic rock songs on his electric acoustic guitar and even taking requests. I ordered some takeout on a Friday afternoon. I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and a side of garlic bread over the phone. The person that took my order was very friendly and hospitable. The inside decor is very cool and the food was promptly ready when I arrived. The fettuccine Alfredo was delicious and paired perfectly with the garlic bread. Terrible. We walked into the door and stood there behind a few other people. After far too long, we realized that you are supposed to seat yourself. So awkward. The people in front of us only had 3 and we had 6. Who gets the next table? Do they just take up a 6person table? Should I suggest that they allow us to cut ahead of them? What if another group comes in behind me? I wonder if there are more tables around the wall that I don't see? How many tables are there? Is the table going to be cleared off? These are all logistical questions that I don't want to be burdened with just to have dinner. After numberous employees walked by an seemed to purposefully avoid any eye contact with us and even turned away after we tried to flag their attention, we left. An amazing little hole in the wall! This place was right across the street from our hotel, walking distance. The interior is really fun, artsy, and eccentric! We spent most of our time looking around and pointing at the cool stuff on the walls. We stopped by for brunch, my husband had the loco moco and I had the blackened fish sandwich. Both were delicious! I loved the fish, it was so tasty and fresh. Service was quick, I think it was the bartender that was serving us and he was so nice. This place is something out of a nightmare. The service is beyond bizarre, borderline creepy. You walk in, and the restaurant is a dark cave covered in old artwork and clutter. It feels like you left Maui and are now in some sort of underground, as it smells like a basement. You might be weirded out by the walls being covered in psychedelic paintings of naked women, but then...after a closer look you realize you're in an alt-right establishment. I believe they had to clean up the political signs and artwork after reading the other reviews, but there are still many in every corner of the building. If none of this bothers you, and you'd still go for the food, DON'T. My egg was raw and it immediately made my stomach hurt. The French toast had a gigantic slab of cream cheese on it, and the pink syrup (that we didn't ask for) was so sweet, the whole meal made my mouth pucker. The food was so bad, I immediately regretted spending a penny in that establishment. Such a weird experience all around. Spend your money at any other local restaurant, that actually cares about Lahaina and serving quality food. read more

Read the random Qanon crap on the walls and decided not to bet on a good experience based on the weird start of the visit alone. Needed an afternoon pick me up so wanted to check out this local shop. Since it was mid-day, the place was a bit empty. (Walking by last night, I could see quite a few patrons.) I ordered a white mocha with almond milk. My drink was okay but I do prefer my drinks a little sweeter. While the friendly barista was making my drink, I soaked in the eclectic decor. Tons of polaroid type pix and stickers on the wall with random hanging decorations. Wish I took a photo. I'd like to go back in the evening to have an adult beverage (they had a bar on the other side of the shop) and enjoy the nightly live music! read more

We heard some good things about this restaurant so we decided to try it, but it was a big disappointment to us. We ordered fish sandwich and Fantapano, and they are both below average, sandwich bread was cold and dry, and the fantapano rice was kinda disgusting, plus the Fantapano was floavoless. They are apparently understaff, there was nobody seated us, and it took about forty minutes after place the order to get our foods served. They kept apologizing for delaying but I didn't not need an apology. I need good service and good food. read more

I've been coming to this family owned business for years, for three main reasons: amazing service, delicious food and its high value. Most restaurants in the area take advantage of the tourism traffic and tend to price their food similar to the resorts. Not this place, great tasting food that won't empty your wallet. Although we typically stay in our two bedroom villa that has a full size kitchen that's well appointed, we still go out to eat for majority of our meals. Two weeks in paradise gets expensive, so seeing reasonable prices is always welcome. I love the eclectic decorations throughout that shows off the wide range of patrons that dined here over the years. I've been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each menu offers the basics, sufficient for most appetites. Most recently we came here for breakfast and I had the Breakfast Burrito with chorizo and side of Spanish rice. Very delicious. The also have a coffee bar, smoothies and a full bar with awesome happy hour. I totally recommend this place. read more

Awesome little breakfast spot off the main path in Maui. We went here for an early breakfast before we went out for the day. We had pancakes, eggs, and the bagel breakfast sandwich. All were very good. The service was good, though we had to ask a few times to get a water for our son, so definitely some room for improvement there. One part that threw me for a loop was the pricing. At first it seemed like good value, but there is an up charge for just about everything. When the food arrived it didn't seem like the portions matched the pricing. However, when all was said and done, we were all full and the bill was very reasonable. This a is a very unique place for eating and drinking coffe and or alcolhol--it is definitely a one of a kind experience! This a local hang-out and a fortunate find for dry tourists. It is a museum that has accumulated over 28 years by the owner Farzad. All of the walls are covered with his art, poloroid photos of his friends and patrons, and eclectic sculpture. We first went there last night after a romantic evening/night on the beach watching the waves, stars, and clouds. Then we decided to branch out and go for a walk. We headed away from the beach and started walking inland. We crossed the main street towards the local strip mall. It was almost 10 pm, and there only seemed to be one place that was still open--Java Jazz. When walked in to the place there was so much to see, I wasn't sure where to start. It was almost overwhelming...but I got over it. They were already shutting down but I was able to order a chocolate milkshake (that wasn't on the menu). So, there I was slurping on a delicious milkshake and checking out 20+ years of accumulated art. I wished that I had my phone to take some pics. My partner sat at the bar sipping his beer. We slept in the next morning in our time share, and instead of making our own breakfast like usual, we decided to walk over to Java Jazz, and get a bite. I started with a delicious hazelnut mocha--thst was very tasty. I ordered Eggs Benedict with fresh Salmon. I suggested to my partner that we split it, but he wanted the Egg Special with 2 poached eggs with toast and hash towns. We should have just bought one instead of 2 orders because we couldn't eat it all (warning). They were delicious, but we should have shared. BTW, the Hollandaise sauce was made there instead a ready made product like some chain restaurants use. It was delicious!!! I remembered my phone and walked around to get some shots from the "museum". It was soooo much fun to be there. I love the owner's quirky sense of humor. This is a unique place to come to eat and/or drink and experience years of accumulated art and memories. Why not experience something really different. Instead of the same old tourist scene? Stumbled across this place while looking for a place to eat breakfast in the area. We had already been to Slappy Cakes and felt that it was a little overpriced so we were happy to find this joint. The ambiance is a little strange....but not really a bad strange, more like an interesting strange. It is dark in here, not your usual breakfast place and the decor was definitely interesting. There was a little cage of naked barbies hanging above the table we were seated at, a skeleton hanging near them, and there are tons of photos on the walls. I wish we took a walk past the bar, I'm sure there was a bunch of awesome stuff there too. We got seated right away....at a table right next to the piano. I think it was probably one of the coolest places to sit. It's a little hard to see but there are bathrooms on either side of the piano. My husband ordered the huevos rancheros, my son ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, and I ordered the 2 eggs with toast, bacon, and home fries. The bacon here is deeeelicious. Super crispy just how I like it. And I didn't even have to ask!! My husband enjoyed his dish and my son said he liked his pancakes altho he didn't eat too much of it. Went here for breakfast and it was overall pretty decent. The atmosphere is really fun and eccentric. The coffee was smooth and "local" per the waitress. The espresso was a little over extracted, but drinkable. The Hawaiian omelet was unique with pineapple and ham inside. It was served with crispy potatoes and toast (your choice of wheat, white, or sourdough). The lox bagel was good. Although you have to assemble it yourself (some people may like that). The server was nice, but didn't have a lot of recommendations. It did have a huge bar and it looks like it could be a fun place at night! read more

Fun decor/ambiance throughout the place. Fries are fire- for real probably the best I had on the island. BUT we had a super awkward experience here. The nachos are on the menu so while trying to order the nachos the employee was struggling to ring it in- he asked the owner/ manager where the nachos were at in the computer and he told him that they didn't have them anymore. He said "we don't have the nachos anymore man?" And the owner/ manager flipped out on him making a scene/ cussing at the worker saying something along the lines of "they're not on the f*ng menu, can't you read?" Then the worker said "why not? we have all the ingredients for them and they're so good man" which upset the owner/ manager even more- can't remember what he said after that but it was NOT nice and then he stormed outside to smoke. Mind you I was stand behind the worker super uncomfortable the whole time while the owner/ manager was staring at him and I both. I felt so uncomfortable/ bad for the worker. I would love to leave this place a great review but we were highly disappointed in the service. Good food and live music but highly under staffed. We ordered 3 meals and 3 drinks only received 2 of the 3 drinks after the food was already out and I had already reminded the server. The server never came back to check on us after the food was delivered and I Had to ask for the check more than 20 minutes after we were done eating. Waited again for him to come back to pick up the bill but eventually had to take it to him to cash out. Nice guy probably a good server just too many tables for one person to handle on any given night. I would not recommend unless you have plenty of time and no where else to be. Ok so from the outside super cool. We saw the chandelier and were into the vibe. After sitting for a few minutes after ordering you start to notice the trump and anti Obama items hidden in the items all over the restaurant. There is also a tv that plays odd items in the back. The images are mixed with the owners personal photos and then also weird trump/ qanon images. Im a social media personality for Mattel and the barbies are all over the place so i would have loved to post this place but the personal political items ruined the experience. The food wasn't the best but sometimes the restaurant and vibe can override this but it was very uncomfortable. I understand everyone has their own viewpoints and i respect that. Java jazz is my FAVORITE PLACE ON EARTH! Seriously! We always come here. We visit Maui at least four times a year and Java jazz is a mandatory breakfast spot for us. We love the owner farzad. Everything about him is great. We love the decor. I take pictures every time and love to see what's been added. This time I noticed one of the trump stickers got taken down :( makes me sad because I LOVED the "give no f*cks" mentality and the patriotism. Farzad is a TRUE American. Very passionate, and we appreciate that! The soup is the BEST. No matter which kind they have , you have to try it! I tell everyone about it. The waiter (I think his name is nader?) remembers our order every time and always makes us feel at home. I've never had a bad meal, drink, or experience here. This place was just bad all the way around. Workers don't acknowledge you when you walk in. We weren't sure where to sit, or what yo do finally a older gentleman said hi and had us sit, he was the only personable one there. We were sat in front of a tv that had a meme slide show and honestly some of the images could be considered offensive and include profanity , not suitable for younger kids. We waited a really long time and when the food came, it was not with the wait. Potatoes were half burnt and nothing was memorable. Waste of time and money. read more
