Wagyu burger and onion rings for 18 bucks and a mahi-mahi sandwich with fries.
Andrew F.

This is certainly a very unassuming and unpretentious restaurant. I actually hesitated to go in because it looks so plain. But it's got good food and great prices. It's very clean. This is just about the first restaurant you'll come to after touring around the western side of the island. I enjoyed the burger and onion rings. The onion rings were nice and crispy and a good size onion. They probably could have included one or two more rings but the price was right. The burger was cooked precisely to my specifications. It was nice and thick and juicy. The mahi sandwich could have been a little larger. The bun could have been toasted. The tartar sauce was a little bland. The service was great and attentive. There was a nice cool breeze blowing through the window on this Hot August day. The view was just fair, overlooking a golf course and down to the coast.

Not only is the food solid and delicious, the prices are MORE than fair, especially for the Hawaiian prices lately. I ordered the breakfast Moco Loco and side of hash browns. They both were exactly how you would wish they tasted! My partner ordered the breakfast combo plate and side of banana macadamia pancake. The pancake was SOO freaking good! The banana flavor hits your mouth immediately causing bliss. The combo plate had two eggs, sausage links and bacon. I almost forgot to mention that I had a cup of coffee that, hands down, blew away every other cup I've had eating out all year... no kidding! All this came to under $40, +tip. Try and beat that!! I also discovered this was a family -run establishment, which made my heart smile. The server, I believe her name was "Robbie" was a total sweetheart and very friendly and helpful. Hopefully you will get a chance to meet her... TLDR: Come here for solid food at rock-bottom prices!

We visited Wailuku Coffee last month (September 2026)…read more Before our trip to Maui, I made sure to search for information on good coffee shops in and around the Kihei district where we were staying. There were a bunch of coffee places extremely close to us, such as Kraken and Akami (both worth your time btw), but after a few visits to a wide selection of coffee places, we kept returning and making an effort, to get to Wailuku. What I liked about this place was the general décor and vibe. It was clearly a local hangout and was active whenever we visited. Its close to a bunch of shops and some older buildings to check out, such as an old cinema a few doors down. The coffee is bold and flavorful, plus they have a wide selection of food. I tried their Breakfast Wrap with Bacon and avocado, and it was super tasty and substantial in size. This became a regular breakfast for me. They left their doors open, which not only brought a nice breeze in, it also enticed local birds that would waltz in and around the shop, giving their approval and pecking up crumbs. Nice people, great coffee and food, plus not too far from the airport, which was also the reason with did one last visit there on the way back home. The place has character and characters; soak 'em up!

Since it was Sunday, I decided today was the day. I'm not a big coffee connoisseur because of a health condition I have and caffeine can affect me but I do love coffee (even if it doesn't love me) but I'll usually go with a Tea option or Smoothie. I decided on a simple smoothie so I got the Keiki Smoothie with Banana, Strawberry and Apple Juice. I asked the waitress what sandwich is the most popular and she said the Turkey Pesto Melt and boy did that hit! It really was the BEST sandwich. It was on a crispy, flaky...and might I add...buttery croissant with thick slices of turkey, tomato, creamy pesto aioli and melted provolone! It came with some chips and dill pickle on the side. The only downside was the price-it was about $17 so I'm sure I'll treat myself once in a good while to this. My small smoothie was $8 but refreshing nonetheless. I love the vibes inside with hanging plants and art work throughout. There was someone doing remote work or school in the corner with her sleepy golden retriever next to her, a few locals outside and some visitors inside. The workers are friendly and I saw one clean the outside tables right away after a few parties left. A nice spot to hit up for some nice breakfast, lunch and a coffee with a friend.

It's the perfect blend of casual and upscale. The food was outstanding. We ordered the mahi mahi and the swordfish, and both were cooked perfectly--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The cocktails were equally impressive and some of the best we've had on the island. Be sure to save room for dessert because the malasadas were incredible, especially with the three different dipping sauces. What really sets this place apart for families is everything beyond the food. There were ducks, geese, koi, and other animals roaming the plantation grounds, which kept the kids entertained before and after dinner. Tin Roof…read morefit the bill...it is located minutes from the airport and we found their food was a great way to start our vacation. I ordered the fish sandwich and my husband had the mochiko chicken with garlic noodle ( garlic noodle +$4). The fish sandwich came with American cheese, tartar sauce and perfectly fried fish fillets. Mochiko chicken was crunchy - it came with crunchy rice crackers bits with a soy sauce based sauce. My son had the poke which also had the rice cracker bits. We all enjoyed the Poke as well. I also ordered the Bibingka which was their chocolate butter mochi with sprinkles. I never had chocolate butter mochi before, (only regular butter mochi from family potlucks) it seemed it didn't have that coconut flavor that you get with regular butter mochi but I am glad I tried it. The food overall hit the spot. Staff was kind and welcoming. You can order online but we opted to order in person and the wait was not long. (We got there before 5pm). This is a take out place so you need to plan. We knew we wanted to do a Costco run before checking in so we just ate in the car. Costco is super close by which made Tim Roof very convenient as well.

The mochiko chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, and I really liked the crunchy bits sprinkled on top, which added some extra texture. However, the chicken itself was extremely bland and barely had any flavor. I was expecting something spicy and well seasoned, and it really could have used a LOT more sauce to give it some flavor. The garlic shrimp was probably the better of the two dishes. The shrimp had a nice garlicky flavor, but I really didn't like that they were fried with the shells on. It made them pretty difficult and messy to eat because you have to peel off the shell while trying not to lose all the garlic, seasoning, and crispy breading stuck to it. The mac salad was decent but nothing special. It was a little bland for my taste, and I wish there had been more potato mixed in since the potato was the element with the most flavor. Another downside is that there was absolutely no seating, so you'll need to plan on taking your food elsewhere to eat. This was pretty inconvenient, especially if you're not staying nearby and want to enjoy them while they're fresh. The cashier also wasn't particularly friendly, which didn't help the overall experience. Overall, I think this place is a bit overhyped. The food wasn't terrible, but the mochiko chicken really missed the mark in terms of flavor, and between the lack of seating and service, I didn't think the experience was worth the hype.

Loco moco beef patty was tender, moist and cooked properly. Had that earthy beef taste from the seasonings or was that just the natural flavor of the beef? Corned beef hash loco moco had that lightly grilled exterior with moist interior. Not too salty. I could taste the corned beef. So good! Beef stew loco. Wow! Never had that combo. Beef was tender, veg was plentiful. Excellent beef stew! We upgraded from white rice to their fried rice and were glad we did. Looking for a kid and family friendly Restaurant with Local and Filipino Cuisine? Look no further…read moreand head to Tante's Island Cuisine in the heart of Kahului at the Maui Seaside Hotel. Our Ohana and family friends have been eating here for years. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If you're looking for a place to have a small gathering or celebration, they do catering and had a small party near our table (we were told to be quiet during a prayer for that party which we respectfully did). Our family of 7 ordered a variety of food. My nephew is Vegan and there was a Veggie Stir Fry he ordered with Tofu. My Brother in Law who is on the pickier side and likes it "simple" got Beef Teriyaki with Macaroni Salad. And my mom and niece love their Filipino food so mom ordered a Tamarind Soup with Shrimp and Vegetables called Sinigang and my niece ordered a Peanut Sauce dish called Kare Kare. My dad, sister and I stick to our favorites. He got his usual Baby Back Ribs (which I didn't get to picture), my sister got Sautéed Mahi Mahi with Lemon Caper Sauce and I got my usual Local Favorites Combo that had the most tender and savory Beef Teriyaki and crispy Mahi Mahi with Tartar Sauce on a bed of Cabbage. The Molokai Sweet Potato is a must when you get a side but this time, I did crave some greens so I opted for a side salad with Papaya Dressing. Your Meal isn't complete without Dessert! And Filipino Ice Dessert I might add...Halo Halo (which literally translates to "mix mix"). Being the true Fil-American that I am, I don't like to "Mix Mix" because I prefer my Ube Ice Cream in tact lol. I explained this to my Brother in Law from the Mainland who also said this is the first Purple anything he's ever eaten haha! But this is a refreshing ice dessert to end the meal since it has fresh cantaloupe, avocado, coconut, banana, and jellies, and the ice is creamy with an evaporated and condensed milk mix. If you want to "mix mix" let your inner Filipino out! Our visiting family had a great time catching up and enjoyed our yummy meal together. The Filipino aunty servers are always top notch and serve your food with Aloha. We probably only waited 15 minutes or so for the food as well which is always appreciated especially when hungry.
