They're not very friendly unless you've been going there for a while, so I've noticed. They're turkey wraps suck, one peice of deli turkey with tons of lettuce in a HUGE tortilla. Awesome place to grab a coffee with really unique specials and easy customizations to your order. I LOVED that you could order coffee ice cubes because I HATE really watered down iced coffee on a hot day. Java Earth is my go-to coffee spot in PB! I studied here for several days in a row earlier in the year, and came to love the ambience and the people! The food is GREAT! You can't go wrong with an acai bowl or the PB Bagel. The coffee is also delicious, especially their Dirty Chai. The baristas are great, and it is usually reasonably easy to find an open table most days (except for the weekends, gets busy in the morning). The only thing is that if you are coming here to study, plugs are limited, so come prepared in case there isn't one available. read more

Food and drinks are good. Seems pretty popular. Friendliness is lacking in staff, they have a report with certain regulars but are pretty cold with everyone else. The staff always seems rushed and they don't really seam to care about the quality of the product they hand you, or that its even going to the right person. Ordered the works acai bowl and payed extra for peanut butter. I've ordered this twice before and it has been pretty good. This time they put out an acai bowl without peanut butter for someone else's order. When no one claimed it after about five minutes one of the staff took it in the back and slapped a scoop of peanut butter on top and gave it to me...didn't even mix it in like it normally is...wtf. A nice place in PB that makes me feel like I am not in PB. The crowd is not PB, the aura is not PB, and the people behind the counter is not PB. They are super cool, and the drinks are good. 5 will cover your butt there. It is nice and quiet when it needs to be, has a good background music choice (thanks to whoever picked the Pandora station that day i was there), and is very accommodating to larger groups (ours was a group of about 10). ANd of course, since it IS in PB, you are minutes from walking to the beach after you are done having your drink there. This review is about studying and working at a coffee shop. My most favorite coffee shop in SD to work and study!!! Music is perfect, not too loud, very bright, great energy! My favorite spot to work is the couch by the windows..... I have got some important stuff done here sipping on their great coffee and snacks. They chairs are comfy and lots of charging spots. No loud PB street noise like Better Buzz coffee which is horrible horrible..... it should be named bitter buzz with horrible chairs designed to break your spine! Yikes. Don't go there, go to Java Earth Cafe instead for studying / working. You will love it. read more

Good food, good coffee, good prices. It's far enough from Garnet that parking isn't a pain. A really good place to start the day or hit up for lunch. Upon entering Java Earth, I was pleasantly surprised to discover almond milk and coconut milk as dairy alternatives. While I love almond milk, I had my suspicions about how it might fare in a coffee drink - caffeine soaked cardboard came to mind. But after being reassured by the barista, I gave it a go. Well, my taste buds needn't have worried as they would soon be greeted with the most delicious mocha they had ever encountered. I would also recommend trying a fresh gluten/dairy/sugar free cookie. I know - all the good stuff taken out? No way it can be good. Friends, it can! and it is! Chock full of natural fruits and such - a tasty, healthy treat sure to make your taste buds jig with delight. This place is the jimmy jam. Cozy little neighborhood jaunt, especially perfect if you're within walking distance like me. The coffee here gives Starbucks coffee an inferiority complex. I've been on the iced coffee kick for quite sometime now, and they do a mean one, but my roommate recently turned me onto the iced toddy - brain ---- exploded. It's like Heisenberg brewed it himself. Proceed with caution on these, WAYY stronger than a regular iced coffee. If you're a fan of teas (I am), they have a pretty meaty selection of loose leaf teas as well. The breakfast is phenomenal as well. If there's a breakfast burrito on the menu, I'm ordering it. Only problem is I hate eggs & am allergic to cheese - which usually means trouble / looks of disgust & disappointment. The girls here are more than happy to accommodate - hash browns, sausage, black beans - all wrapped up and then grilled in a tortilla. You heard that last part right, and that's the highlight of the whole shabam- THEY GRILL YOUR BURRITO LIKE IT"S A FREAKING PANINI. simply brilliant. I'm told the fruit bowls and yogurt are awesome too, but I was too busy eating my grilled burrito. I love this place! The coffee is amazing and the food is great. I like the SoCal burrito with just a latte. The great thing is the medium espresso comes with 3 shots instead of 2 like most places. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. They have various dairy alternatives such as almond milk, coconut milk, and soy milk. Once they get to know you and what you get, sometimes it will be waiting for you when you get to the cash register. I love it! Everyone that works there is great and has a great attitude. While my latte was good (and strong) I had a problem with my oatmeal, it tasted like dirty water (ew!!). It's a fairly nice place overall, but the inside feels a bit stale....not sure if it's the lighting, uncomfortable seats or the multi color pastel wall colors, but for some reason I just don't like the vibe. Everyone here is so friendly! I ordered the lox bagel and it was delicious. They convinced me to get the acai smoothie and it did not disappoint. It was a little crammed for seating inside and we had to wait a bit to sit down, but that is to be expected at a small cafe. I would say that the friendliness of the staff made up for the wait! This coffee shop is busy in the mornings. I came in and got a coffee and toasted bagel . while i was waiting my coworker called and asked if i could get her a scone....so i already placed my order. I thought maybe my bagel will be done when i get there...sooo. I wait on line again...this time i said i would like a scone...mentioned again in case she forgot ..i also ordered a bagel...girl at counter says it will be right up....waited 15 mins for the bagel to come...no joke And when it did arrive finally...it was a burnt hard as a rock...also it was a cold bagel with cream cheese. I've been coming to this shop for years and it used to be my favorite local north PB spot for a bite and coffee. However there is a particular employee who works there that has single handily ruined this place for me. If you're reading this, and you know Java Earth, then you know who I'm talking about. I won't list her name, but I will say it's the short petite girl with long dark hair. Visit after visit she continually has an extremely poor DMV employee-like attitude. She never smiles, is always rude, and seems put off by any general request from a customer. After the first time of this behavior I just thought she was having a bad day, but nope, I've seen the exact same attitude out of her time and time again. If you hate your job and the customer service industry then quit and change careers. While overpriced the food and coffee at Java are pretty good, but I will no longer spend a cent at this place until this employee no longer is employed and management takes customer service more seriously. I've already taken my business to the brand new competitor 200 feet north on Cass called Second Nature. Their food and coffee are better, their space is bigger, and most importantly the employees are friendly! read more

Its very busy so not a place to go for quite time. The staff isn't the friendliest either. I like Perky Beans farther south on Cass st. What a great cafe to start your morning! I went inside to grab a coffee and right away the cafe aromas made me smile. They had an assortment of pastries so I decided to get a chocolate croissant. The lady was really nice offered suggestions that would go well with the croissant.
