Love this place. I used to live down the street & I would stroll here every weekend for my caffeine fix ! Their standard coffee is great (much better than Turquoise Coffee 1 block over, srrytosay), & so are all their other drinks. Their spice chai latte is HEAVENLY, & they are always accommodating when I ask for half the sugar. The girls are always so sweet and friendly & I can't help but feel at home here. They have great acai bowls but now they've adopted the 'new' super fruit --- pitaya ! (Aka, a new fancy way of saying 'dragon fruit' ) which is *gasp* even tastier. It's blended to the perfect consistency, not too sweet, & topped with granola, strawberries & blueberries... Basically, if you give me a reason to eat pseudo ice cream for breakfast, I will gladly do it. Everything else they make here is equally delicious (hummus+avocado sammich with a side salad is my usual pick), & I've been very lucky to be able to call this my neighborhood joint. Every time I have been there the servers are always a little rude, this time in particular was worse. When I went to the counter to pick up our food and drinks I accidentally grabbed someone else's drink. When we realized we went up to the counter and the lady said "yeah you stole someone else's drink" and then pointed out the other person and said "they're right there". Who does that!? She didn't even replace the drink with what we paid for. There food isn't even that good. Definitely the last time we will be going there! read more

I enjoy Starbucks as much as the next guy but I love the occasional mom-and-pop feel that this coffee shop provides. The tea and coffee are exceptional as well as the customer service. Unfortunately, I am always so turned off by the staff and their lack of quality customer service and friendliness. Honestly, every time I decide to give them another try, I walk out telling myself I won't go back. They never smile or seem friendly when I go in, and I never feel welcomed. Java Earth is my go-to coffee spot in PB! I studied here for several days in a row earlier in the year, and came to love the ambience and the people! The food is GREAT! You can't go wrong with an acai bowl or the PB Bagel. The coffee is also delicious, especially their Dirty Chai. The baristas are great, and it is usually reasonably easy to find an open table most days (except for the weekends, gets busy in the morning). The only thing is that if you are coming here to study, plugs are limited, so come prepared in case there isn't one available. read more

This is a updated review from 3 stars to 1 star. I like ONE DRINK there. I get it the same every single time. I go in about 2-3 times a week. We can just say I have distinct characteristics and if you cant recognize me after 2 months of going there then I'm sorry but then your one unobservant motherfucker. Iv worked in the restaurant business so yes of course I always tip. I know my drink and right when I took a sip this morning I knew it was wrong i hadn't even left the counter when I asked to have it remade. The big girl with really pretty eyes rolled those suckers right in my face and said I would have to pay for another one if I wanted a different drink. I didn't want a DIFFERENT drink I just wanted what I ordered and paid for. Regardless, being the broke college student I am I didn't want to pay another 6 bucks for a stupid coffee, but when I sat down thinking about it I was like hmmmmmm Iv probably tipped well over 30 bucks here total I should honestly get what I god damn paid for. So I went up again still having only taken one sip and nicely explained the situation to the other girl working. She squinted her eyes at me like I was asking some off the wall request and then finally said yes they would remake it. I'm going to assume Java Earth is family owned and I get the whole nickel and dime kinda deal. I worked at a juice bar in La Jolla that was very small and family owned, even if a rando walked in and didn't like something I would apologize and asked if I could remake it for them. When I am in the area which is quite often, I seem to migrate towards a pleasant, spunky, cheerful, inviting place. where people make you feel special by remembering your name or order. On occasion I work with different people and when given the chance I bring them in to either have their amazing bagels that I think come from some place not of this world or their always fresh and made to perfection coffee blends. Last but not least they are certainly a great asset to the community by having holiday and special events all year round and will also recommend to all my construction friends who live off this thing called caffeine!. Dear Java Earth: I tried sending an email directly through your website, but you have a specific plug in download requirements just to submit comments that I wasn't going to download. This review is based not on the food or drink, which is fine, but on your dog policy. I've come to your coffeeshop several times for coffee and food and have noticed that you allow dogs inside the shop. I have seen owners with their dogs either propped up on the counter where food is served to customers, or owners carrying their small dogs, hovering over the counter as well. And just a few minutes ago, a customer's small dog walked, off-leash, behind the counter and into the staff area, where food and drinks are prepared. This was alarming. I'm not sure if you're aware that as a food establishment, your shop is subject to the local health code ordinances that does not allow pets inside the establishment. You have a sign posted in the bookcase next to the counter announcing this to customers, although it's easy to miss because it's fairly low close to the ground (maybe the dogs can see it more easily). As a dog owner myself, I understand how cute and family they can be--I treat my own dog like my kid. But a dog's cuteness and companionship should not supersede sanitary and hygienic conditions at a food establishment. Dogs can bring fleas, ticks, can sneeze and spread saliva through the air, making food contamination a real problem. In my visit today of over three hours, I did not see your staff ask folks to leave their pets outside, nor at least ask whether the dogs were service animals, as allowed under the federal ADA (is the animal a service animal for a particular disability, and what is that disability? Sorry, I'm a lawyer so I couldn't help but to get all legal and cite the law.) Please address this issue with your staff and customers so that those of us who leave our pets outside can enjoy an indoor food experience in a clean, sanitary environment. read more

This review is about studying and working at a coffee shop. My most favorite coffee shop in SD to work and study!!! Music is perfect, not too loud, very bright, great energy! My favorite spot to work is the couch by the windows..... I have got some important stuff done here sipping on their great coffee and snacks. They chairs are comfy and lots of charging spots. No loud PB street noise like Better Buzz coffee which is horrible horrible..... it should be named bitter buzz with horrible chairs designed to break your spine! Yikes. Don't go there, go to Java Earth Cafe instead for studying / working. You will love it. read more

I just moved to PB and I've been looking for a new study spot. Love this place so far. The baristas are friendly, and have gone out of their way to be accommodating. Their lattes are standard 3 and 4 shots, so I can't complain about that, and the beans they use have great flavor. They also have soy and almond milk available for milk substitutions (maybe even coconut milk?). I haven't tried much of the food, but it all looks pretty good. As a study spot it can sometimes get a little noisy, but I just pop my earphones in and zone out until it becomes the perfect kind of background noise to get stuff done. All in all, great place to go. I'll definitely be back, frequently! read more

This coffee shop is pretty cool. They have good food, quality coffee, and great customer service. I really like their breakfast burritos, but my go to food has got to be the acai works bowl. It is delicious and packed with fruits and flavor. I particularly want to share my experience I had a couple weeks ago. I was indulging in my acai bowl, sipping my coffee, and in my casualness I inadvertently set my bowl only part way onto the table. This allowed gravity (my old nemesis) to take hold and send my only 20% enjoyed bowl, plummeting to the floor. With the shamed look of a dog who has just shat upon the rug, I slunk my way back to the counter, and informed them that I had made a bit of a mess (it looked like an Acai grenade had exploded). Not only did Olivia reassure me not to worry about the spill, but she had them make me a fresh bowl. This above and beyond customer service blew me away, and is why I am leaving them this awesome review! read more

I love love love Java Earth! As a local, I frequent this place and am always greeted with a warm smile. The girls working there are fantastic. They make it a point to ask how you are doing and to get to know their regulars. They quickly learn your order and even remember the special way you like it. Iced tea sweetened with lemon? No problem! They also have a great selection of food from pastries and breakfast burritos to acai bowls and sandwiches. There are just tons of options! Their frequent buyer program is also very convenient, they keep track of your purchases on the computer and look you up by name each time so you don't have to provide any type of card. Also, if you have a gift card from another coffee shop they run promotions where they will trade it in for credit at their store. The interior was semi-recently redone and looks great! Love this place!! My friend and I go to yoga every Sunday morning and come here for breakfast after. The thought of breakfast here is what gets me through the hour of twisting my body like a pretzel. Their açai bowls are really good but their burritos are my personal favorite. My friend gets the bagel with peanut butter, banana, cinnamon and honey and she loves it. They have a wide range of teas to choose from and they can make any of them into an iced tea for you. Really nice laid back coffee house feel. LOVE THIS PLACE. They're not very friendly unless you've been going there for a while, so I've noticed. They're turkey wraps suck, one peice of deli turkey with tons of lettuce in a HUGE tortilla. Awesome place to grab a coffee with really unique specials and easy customizations to your order. I LOVED that you could order coffee ice cubes because I HATE really watered down iced coffee on a hot day.
