Great place to grab a coffee and work on the computer, or a pitcher of beer and enjoy an afternoon with friends. The food and coffee are always spot on. There is usually parking near on the surrounding streets. It vicinity to Ocean Beach and the San Francisco Zoo makes it convenient. I will continue to visit Java Beach! read more

My boyfriend and I go her religiously it's convenient and great food for breakfast lunch or even dinner. My favorite are their mocha's and fruit and granola bowl with honey yummy! Kelly's Cove is a super tasty sandwich fresh Turkey and pesto! My only qualm is that there are tons of people that take up all the seating and don't buy anything just utilizing the wifi. This always takes up the space from paying customers with no where to sit. Other then that this place is a must staff is always friendly and sweet at well ! read more

This is the second time in a row where I ordered a salad and they forgot a key ingredient. The first time they forgot my chicken and I didn't realize until I was already on my way home. The second time they forgot avocado; luckily, I decided to check my take-out box (which was barely full) before I went home. The workers there don't seem happy, nor do they seem to know what ingredients go into their salads. Even their apologies are lazy. If I'm paying $16 for a salad, there should be better attentiveness into making it. If I'm paying $4 for added chicken, there should more than 3 thin strips of chicken in there. All the employee has to do is grab the right ingredients and mix them up in a box. It's not that hard. It's the bare minimum that is required of your job, so do it properly. Java Beach is a cool little place to have a delicious sandwich and get a quick coffee. It is a good place to stop by right before visiting the San Francisco Zoo. Unfortunately, it isn't the best place to hang out and study. First of all, it is very crowded and there isn't that much seating available. The prices are pretty high for a coffee shop. I don't blame them, they have high demand, I would do the same, but for someone who wants a place to study for finals ( I go to SFSU) it isn't ideal. Other then that, I like the ambiance and the food is simple, yet delicious. They have good desserts and there is plenty to choose from, as long as you have some extra cash. read more

I found this Gem just taking a joy ride on Muni. I wanted to get coffee at my usual spot Star-bid-ucks but then thought let's go to Martha Bro. So, I hop a Muni and decide to "Let it Ride " instead of offboarding at Marthas. Then a little sighting seeing via Muni for the 15minute ride to the end of the N-Judah line. The train dropped me out at the beach's doorstep, and as soon as I walk off the train I see a few people chillaxing sipping coffee. Bingo lets give this place a try and enjoy the beach scenery. I ordered a coffee with 2shots & a pastry. It was 3.50 for two shots of espresso and coffee( I think they called it a nitro). The place is nice with many coffee and food options. They loose a star for a dirty bathroom but I assume with all the homeless folks & beach goers in the area that's a tough issue to combat read more

Taboobis and i were waiting for Java to open up over on this side of the tracks [Taraval] that is. There is no better feeling than to sit outside and sip coffee or tea, eating a pastry and looking at the ocean, smelling the ocean. I love coffee so much i have 6 pounds in the closet just in case their may come a time... you know. When i took a sip of their coffee.. DAMM! ACID REFLUX out the but. I tried to water it down by pouring 5 ounces of milk, cream, to dilute it, but i ended up dumping it in the street. I really really love my coffees but come on, Nobody makes it that strong. IT hurts soo. I went back and asked for their version of fairy pea coffee, again diluted by one half, again i couldn't drink it. This place says beach café all over it. The outside is painted with the beach colors of blue, yellow and white and the Java Beach sign is shaped like a surfboard. This place has great, friendly service. A peppy young girl took my order of a vegetarian bagel, green tea and an apple muffin. It's a big order but after you surf pretty hard, this is the place to be. When I got my sandwich, the onion bagel had been toasted to perfection and had the right amount of cream cheese. It also had lettuce, onion and tomato, tasty. The apple muffin was to scream about, seriously what did they put in that thing? It was amazing. The green tea was also good. I like this place because it has healthy food at a reasonable price, the décor is inviting and it has indoor and outdoor seating. The best part is that it's close to the beach and the zoo (you'll see a ton of families here, most of the kids ordering ice cream of course). I always have some serious nostalgia when I'm here- it was the place I studied for my SATs in high school, and now years later, I came back to grab a quick coffee and to visit. Lots of huge pros. It's right by the beach with a great vibe and an awesome staff. The interior is clean with great wood furniture and a boardwalk-esque feel. There's also plenty of outdoor seating, but away from all of the power strips. Service was fast and friendly, and they have a pretty large selection of pastries, sandwiches, and an extensive bagel menu that I'm looking forward to trying out next time I'm back. The service is slow, but they have a lot of space for you to sit and set up your laptop. I think they have free wifi (not sure since I bring my own). The food is excellent. I I prefer the paninis and breakfast bagles (they get the bagels fresh from the House of Bagels every morning). The coffee and the hot cocoa are very good too. Excellent find! We were tired from traveling and this was our first food stop in San Francisco. Sandwiches were large and ingredients fresh. I went to grab a quick sandwich because i ran a long run and was hungry. I came in and got an iced vanilla latte, which was good. I ordered a Beach Club which took 20 minutes to make and they ran out of avocado. They made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, but avocado is expensive and I waited 20 minutes. They finally agreed to give us money, and I expected to get two dollars back since they charge an extra two dollars for it, but they ended up giving me only $1.50. Been here many times over the years. It's the place to go if you are down by the Zoo. Their coffee is good but they really need to freshen up their coffee that sits out more often b/c after sitting it gets that burnt bitter taste. Delighted with my hot chocolate and cinnamon toast- not just any cinnamon toast but a Pullman Bread cinnamon toast- a thick slice of fresh toasted bread topped with brown sugar, butter and cinnamon - so simple but so delicious- the hot cocoa is so perfect on a brisk day. My kids loved the grilled cheese sandwich - 4 thick slices of bread topped with Ooey gooey cheese- so delicious- you know it's good when you talk about the food days after! I love this little cafe! I came in on a Saturday & it was crazy busy, but I expected that- it's right across the street from the zoo! Despite the tons of customers, the staff was extremely friendly and super accommodating. My latte came out much faster than I expected given the packed house. Their unsweetened chai (they carry Bay Chai--thank you!!) is my favorite part of taking my little one to the Zoo on free day.
