I come here on occasion. Its close to the Balboa theatre and is the latest open coffee house in the Richmond district. It's quiet has free wifi if you need it and good Hot coffee and sandwiches. Cakes and muffins and more. Very laidback with a few outside tables . Occasionally I can't seem to get the schedule they have live music which is nice especially for this end of town not much. It's very comfortable with an odd kinda way .

    turkey sandwich on sourdough

love getting a chai with espresso and with a bit of simple syrup as it is fairly spicey really liked their turkey sandwich, super flavorful and fulfilling (it had the hard stem of a pepper in it lol but that doesn't feel like it warranted taking off a whole star) very cute ambiance, plentiful seating, and service has been consistently pleasant and fast

Came here with a friend because we needed a place to sit and talk. This was the only place nearby that opened late in our neighborhood with refreshments and desserts. The cafe has a quaint, warm, cozy ambiance. Order at the counter. Street parking.

4 out of 5 stars Simple Pleasures Café is my go-to for a cold beer and calm vibes--until tonight, when a toddler went full Aladdin's Genie meets Jurassic Park. Screaming, flailing--this kid had range, baby. Still, nothing beats sipping a brew with good people under the city sky. Even with a tiny tornado in the background, this place keeps its charm. Next time I'm bringing earplugs and a juice box--just in case.

An Outer Richmond gem, Simple Pleasures has been a mainstay since 1978, offering coffee, sandwiches, bagels and pastries. We ordered drinks and a sun-dried tomato pesto cream cheese bagel, which was delicious! Prices are very affordable and there are many regulars in the crowd of customers! It's a small bustling warm and friendly spot worth stopping by if you're in the hood.

I just gave it 5 stars becuse everybody else has and I see no need to bring down the rating.) On the way back to our car from TJ Cafe, i noticed, through the window, that the wall of bottles was actually topped by a big sign saying non-alcholic! Having been a member of a non-drinking community since 1962, I was fascinated to see such display and dropped in to check it out We spent some 15 minutes with Josh, an ex-bar tender, explaining his philosophy on the social need for community life withoug depending on alcohol (See his Youtube channel: "Josh the non-Alcoholic" for more on this). Josh gave my wife a free cup of coffee since TJ Cafe down the road had no had free refills, and we entered a draw to win a bottle of non-Alcoholic French wine. Josh surprised us by telling us that the French wine industry is going big on non-alcoholic wines. I bought a can of Vanua Bliss - a Mango flavoured Kava drink - vastly different from the Kava served to me during my 3 years stay on Tanna, New Hebrides (1977 to 1980) which was made by youth chewing the kava in their mouths, spitting it out on to a coconut sheath, then pouring water into it and squeezing it into a half shell of a coconut and cerimoniously handing it to you under the shade of a huge Nambunga tree as the twilight deepened! Such are memories made of. While Kava is not alcoholic, it does have some muscle relaxant properties and give a weird buzz of the tongue. I wish him well in his endeavour to allow the teetotaler community to enjoy the social aspects of drinks with their meals, without worring about the alcohol destroying our brain cell and livers!

Not only does it have all of that, but the drinks aren't just pretty to look at, they're actually so good. I also love how community-oriented the space feels. It has such a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. I even signed up for their rewards program because I already know I'll be back. I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.
