Grand opening 3/23/24

They are now open til 1:30 daily for those who get a late lunch break. The new seasonal garlic spread needs to be made permanent. I should note that they make bagels the way they need to and that all their sandwiches are done the right way. They are very liberal with the cream cheese making sure it squeezes out with every bite and the hole in the middle is filled. Ask for it  double toasted for a little crunch and adding a little roast to your sesame and/or onion bagels without losing the chewiness of the dough.

Boichik Bagels on Sacramento St. is superb--because they respect the schmear! Not only do they get the cream cheese ratio right, but they also make some proper bagels. The staff explained that their bagels are made fresh daily in Berkeley and delivered to their locations, ensuring consistent quality every time. Their bagel-making process--proofing, boiling, and baking--is done the right way, bringing serious East Coast vibes to the Bay Area. The texture is spot-on, with a crisp exterior and a perfectly chewy interior. When I got my bagel, I was pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of cream cheese, and from the presentation alone, I knew this place was going to be solid. Beyond the bagels, I absolutely love the dark blue and white decor and their logo design--it adds a clean and stylish touch to the space. The whole setup, from the open-concept kitchen showcasing the staff's cleanliness and sandwich-making to the fridge stocked with bagels to-go, is well thought out. Prices are very fair, making it easy to justify grabbing a baker's dozen (or two) to share the glory. If you're looking for a legit bagel spot in SF, this is it. I'll definitely be back for more!

Garlic bagel with chive, cream cheese, and cucumbers

I came on a Saturday after a fitness class and it wasn't too busy. There were a few people in front of us, but overall the time it took to order and have our food ready was fairly quick. There is an indoor seating in the back if you want a place to sit and eat your bagel otherwise there's also a few coffee shops down the street that have benches if you're in the mood for that. I haven't had a good bagel in San Francisco in a while and honestly, this is my new favorite. I am a savory bagel kind of gal so I opted for the garlic bagel with chive cream cheese and I like some crunch so I got cucumbers. The bagel was so good. It was soft, warm and perfectly flavorful! They do offer bulk as well as tubs of cream cheese So I would definitely wanna come back and get a dozen next time

For whatever reason, I had a craving for a New York style bagel even though San Francisco is clearly San Francisco. I ordered the Classic-3 oz of nova lox, chive cream cheese, capers, onion and tomato all on a toasted Everything bagel. My gripes below: What bagel establishment closes at 1PM? Why would you run out of Everything bagels an hour before you close? I signed up for text notifications regarding my order, why did you wait until I showed up to notify me that you were out of Everything bagels? I told you my name and order, yet received Gabriel Edward's order which was the same as mine on an Everything bagel-lol should I have taken his instead? Maybe I'm spoiled by living in the better coast, but this was not a New York style bagel, $16 for my order felt like a highway robbery. The bagel did not look let alone taste like a bagel, there was a gross amount of chive cream cheese to make up for the lack of other ingredients. How or why people label this a New York style bagel establishment or the best bagel here in San Francisco-you've either never been to New York or are accustomed to mediocre bagels...

Came here after a run club and the bagels came out fast! About 5-10 min later. Good: - Fast service and lots of options! - Eggywich bagel with daily special cream cheese avocado was amazing, so tasty and fills you up! Bad - Expensive bagels, one was $16 and you can get a whole sandwich with that - No seating indoor, cute ambiance just can't indulge too long Overall this place was a good find for bagels in the area!

Don't sleep on this bagel spot! The bagels are fresh and smackin! Ordered a toasted sesame bagel with the seasonal sun dried tomato and pesto cream cheese spread. Drool worthy, finger licking goood! Price is definitely reasonable especially for the quality of the bagel and spread. Though the bagel is small sized, it's a good portion amount. This spot is like your Noah's Bagels but I hate to say this.. but even better! SF native approved!

Ok YUMMMM If you're looking for a quality bagel sandwich in the city, Boichik is a reliable spot. As a Jew myself....I can attest these are some tasty bagels and hit the spot when I get that craving. Perfect portion size too

Everything bagel, sundried tomato cream cheese, nova lox, avocado

This review is for my bagel order via DoorDash. My friend and I both unintentionally ordered the same thing! Build your own bagel {everything bagel, toasted, sundried tomato cream cheese, nova lox, and avocado}. Tbh, I noticed that there wasn't much protein option. No sausage. The add-on items started to become quite pricey. Delivery was fast. For 2 bagels, it was close to $38 (with tax $3). I appreciated how stuffed the bagel was. They didn't skimp out on the cream cheese or nova lox. Bagel was perfectly toasted. Honestly, 1/2 of the bagel can quickly fill me up! Overall, I can why this place is popular and has multiple locations in the bay!

Classic on salt bagel

TLDR: Way overhyped. Have the columnists/"professional" food critics (*eye roll* most seem to really suck at their job LOL) actually had multiple variations of authentic NY bagels? I doubt it. I've been hemming and hawing re: how to rate Boichik. After taking some time to ponder, I lean 3.25 stars. Not terrible, but if they have a line and Noah's across the street is empty...even though I'm no fan of entities like Noah's, time is money and there ain't no way I'm waiting any amount of time for a bagel at either establishment. Laundromat though...I'll travel through rain, sleet, snow, up and over a mountain for their bagels ;P I really really (REALLY!) wanted to like this shop. I don't eat bagels often, but when I do, I want it to be worth it (have gluten sensitivity, but a gluten-free bagel is never the same as a gluten-full). Sadly, this bagel ended up not being worth it. Longer: We were in the area and needing something to sop up the remnants of a late night. Ferry Building Farmers Market was overrun with people and I remembered reading about Boichik's newest shop in FiDi. I walked in about 30 minutes before close and selection of bagels was down to the last, plain dregs. If you want options, show up earlier in the day. I love an egg everything (aka eggything at Boichik), as does my boyfriend, but they only had one left ;(((( so I took one for the team and ordered my Classic sandwich (3 oz of nova lox, chive cream cheese, capers, onion and tomato) on a salt bagel (BP has been acting up lately, so I need all the additional salt I can get lol). The bagel was salty enough, the portion of lox and cream cheese was definitely fair for the cost, but I was surprised at the size of the bagel itself and lack of chive flavor in the cream cheese. My rec for Boichik to make this better: red onions need to be soaked in water longer to remove some of their bite AND there needs to be double or even triple the amount of chive currently used to make the spread. Boyfriend wanted his (eggything) toasted with hatch chile spread - easy enough! Bagel was well coated with the seasoning, but the cream cheese coulda used more chiles to really bring out some FLAVOR; was more like a sprinkle of hatch vs thoroughly incorporated. Even though BF got the flavor of bagel he desired, overall, he was also disappointed. Queue the sad trombone ;,,,( After we finished, BF and I discussed giving them a second chance some time in the future. But after more thought, I'd rather drive across the city to Laundromat 10x before I walk east or fight FiDi traffic again. And if I'm in the neighborhood during the day, Philz will get my business for a breakfast burrito. If you like Noah's Bagels, definitely give Boichik a chance next bagel craving!

I'll preface with the ol' "I'm a native New Yorker and yadda yadda yadda" so my credentials support my opinion that the bagels here are delicious and comparable to what I had growing up. I've had the classic a couple times now and each time was great. Definitely a full meal (not a huge one, but it was good fuel on my way to a hike) with how much they stuff the bagel with cream cheese and friends. All of the ingredients in my order were fresh and top notch, no complaints here. My only qualm is that the bagels here are pricy! The main reason I'm trying Boichik now and not when they first entered my domain way back in their/mine/our(?) Berkeley days was because the bagel pricing didn't increase with insane covid food-inflation rates. So, relatively, Boichik Bagels doesn't feel as extravagant as it did a few years ago. And while I think the bagels here are comparable to the ones I had growing up in NY, the ones I had growing up were from random city supermarkets (think the equivalent of Safeway), not fancy-schmancy delis dedicated to one thing and one thing only. These bagels are good but, at this price, they're more of a special treat than a morning pick-me-up. Especially with how pristine the inside of the shop is (which is definitely a good thing)! It's just a different experience from the bagels I'm used to.

The Mensch $10.50 /whitefish salad with tomato and cucumber

My husband told me about Boichik Bagels recently so we visited with our pup to their Sacramento St. location. I see a sign of another Boichik opening soon on Fillmore St. and possibly another one on Battery St., so stay tune for those locations. Clean and airy aesthetics here on Sacramento St. This is more of a take out location. Recently tried The Mensch, white fish salad with tomato and cucumber and it was delicious. Not too many places serves white fish here (that I know of), so it's nice to have it. I usually go for a standard Sesame bagel with cream cheese so that's what I had on another visit, and sometimes I make it fancy and add tomato. It must have been a super fancy day on a recent visit because I also asked them to add (daikon) sprouts! Was going to try the egg salad also but the staff I spoke with that day doesn't seem to know if it was good, so didn't get it. Maybe another time. Boichik is an endearment term for a young boy/man, a nod to the owner, Emily Winston, who recalled being nervous when first came out and visited her grandmother and got called, "my little boychik". What a cute and sweet story.

Love this new addition to the neighborhood! Walking in, I didn't quite realize what all the options were or how to order. Thankfully there are some menus near the counter that you can pick up and browse. They have daily specials and also seasonal specials. I decided to go for the daily special that day on an everything bagel and I wanted to also get a container of their seasonal cream cheese special. When I went up to the counter, they said they were out of the seasonal cream cheese. However, they were able to grab me a small container for $1 since they had some on the line! The bagel was so good. I wish I paid more attention to what was in it but I ended up inhaling it in a few bites. I recommend coming on the weekday when it is a little quieter because there is definitely a line out the door during the weekend.

Very dangerous having this open only three blocks away! Great staff, the bagels you know and love, plenty in the freezer to take home, and appreciate the daily specials. The new seasonal pesto and sundried tomato is very tasty but I'm a devotee of the Mensch (whitefish bagel sandwich) on a salt and pepper bagel.
