Pies and cakes at Jane's Bakery in Tiburon
Rachel H.

Twice as nice, Jane at the Cove has taken over and expanded the original Sweet Things space, leaving some favorite treats, increasing its bakery offerings and doubling its store footprint. You'll still find a lot of their "old school" Sweet Things original baked goods, alongside new breads and treats. Jane's is relatively close to the freeway, so worth a venture if your sweet tooth is calling. Today I needed a cafe with internet access but with actually good desserts (no thanks Starbucks) and solid tea and espresso drinks, so I came to Jane's and grabbed a lemon blueberry slice, an oat milk chai, and got some work done. I found my cake chilled and needing time to sit out and soften, but although not the perfect temperature, it was moist, sweet and flavorful. The new remodel at Jane's bakery has modernized the original space, but left some of the qualities and desserts that made the former Sweet Things sweet and nostalgic.

The luscious treats beautifully displayed

This is one of those bakeries you cannot pass up! In the parking lot by Nugget Market, but skip Nugget and come here for delightful sweet things. The variety of cakes, pastries cookies, and more will make your mouth water eyeing the beautifully made things in the counter displays. Just plain YUM! I got an assortment of cookies, boxed exquisitely, to take to a friend for an after lunch treat and they were absolutely delicious. Do not miss this small piece of bakery heaven!

They taste delicious, this pic doesn't do it justice.

Thank you Sweet Things for saving the day, as I wanted something special for my daughter's big day graduating Class of 2020 Bowdoin with a Neuroscience degree. We were all devastated not being there due to Covid, and to witness her walk on stage and celebrate with her friends, faculty, and people who inspired her the last 4 memorable years of college life. With such a huge accomplishment, she deserved only the best aka special treats from an exceptional place that knows customized/specialty baked goods. They've been in business for many decades, and I grew up seeing "Sweet Things" pastries everywhere from SF to Marin to the entire Bay Area. I figured this will definitely cheer her up. I took a picture of the cookies, didn't have time to take the cupcakes when her siblings bit into them like it was their special day - SMH. She was ecstatic for a quick second, then back to being sad, then happy again due to a roller coaster of emotions. I totally feel her pain, it's a huge milestone, yet we couldn't be on campus to celebrate in Maine with endless lobsters. Go figure, a Cali kid who went to Maine for college, and loved it. In many ways, it resembles the beauty of Marin and the stunning coastal landscape. Thanks again for making the delicious cookies & cupcakes unforgettable, and staying open during this crisis. I love supporting local businesses and always will. 'Til we meet again ~ happy baking & see you on Yelp (SYOY)!

I loved the tree leches and the ice cream cookie. Simple sweet and buttery goodness. Textures were on point. Do it.

I have loved Malibu Farm in Tiburon since the beginning; I was there the first week they opened,…read moreI've been back many times since, and I've genuinely rooted for this restaurant. I even named my Cavalier King Charles Malibu;) so that should tell you something. I'm usually there with a medium to large group of friends or family, but today it was just two of us and my dog. We arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation at 5:00pm for which we had specifically 'requested' outdoor seating. There were plenty of empty tables outside, presumably because so many people were still at the wine and cheese festival nearby. We were seated inside, and when I asked about several empty two-tops outside in the shade, I was told they couldn't accommodate us and that they "don't reserve or hold outdoor tables." Fair enough except I could see three empty tables for two being "held" outside. When I pointed that out, the explanation suddenly changed: those tables were apparently being held for people who had been waiting at the bar "for hours." We went Nextdoor even though we were risking our movie time ...and 45 minutes later 2 of those tables were still sitting empty. What bothered me wasn't simply not getting an outdoor table. I've owned multiple service businesses myself, and I completely understand that restaurants have seating systems, reservations, staffing issues, and circumstances customers may not see. What turned me off was being given one explanation, then a contradictory explanation when I questioned it, followed by an attitude that was unnecessarily rude and completely dismissive and disrespectful. If there was a legitimate reason those tables couldn't be used, just tell me. I can handle an honest answer. What I have a much harder time with is being told something that clearly doesn't add up and then being treated rudely for noticing it. So awkward. Being in Tiburon and having a beautiful location doesn't excuse treating customers this way. Servino's would never have acted this way in 1000 years and theirs food is so much better!

What a great place! The weather was great so we took a nice shaded table on the deck, with a great view. Although, Angel Island was on fire...LOL! Controlled burn or something like that. Our server was great! She also had an assistant that was fairly new to serving but it was great having two people taking care of us. We chose a great Cote du Rhone and parmesean fries to start. So good! We had a lot of catching up to do! Stef ordered the panzanella salad with shrimp. I was a bit jealous! It looked really good! Since I was having a big dinner later, I ordered the fennel and orange salad which came with kale. This was really good and light but filling! It was a great afternoon catching up and just enjoying the view! Definitely worth coming to in this quaint little coastal town!

Can you imagine paying $15 for a slice of chocolate cake, only to open the box and find a tiny sliver? Honestly, I've seen little kids get bigger slices of cake at a birthday party! For the price, we expected a reasonable portion, and what we received was incredibly disappointing. It's unfortunate because the atmosphere and service were enjoyable, but the dessert was definitely not worth $15. We left feeling let down and expected much better.

It's a bougie coffee spot in Tiburon (one of the richest neighborhoods in the Bay Area) and the view definitely lives up to the location. They have glass windows everywhere where you can see the mountains where the 10 million dollar homes sit on or have the view of the bay. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can soak it all in either way. The drinks were the highlight for me. The chai latte had a good spiciness to it and wasn't overly sweet, which I really appreciate. And the affogato? Amazing. Absolutely get the affogato. One big miss though -- they have a variety of pastries in a glass container, but I saw flies flying around inside it. That's a big no no for me and completely turned me off from wanting any. Hopefully they get that sorted, because the pastries looked tempting otherwise. Heads up: parking nearby is paid, so plan for that. Overall a lovely spot for a scenic coffee morning -- just stick to the drinks for now.

I kept it classic with vanilla, while wifey went for the coffee. Both were yummy, creamy, and exactly what we needed before getting on the ferry. The line looked LONG when we got there, and for a second I thought, "Well, there goes the ferry." But they had the line moving FAST, so kudos to the crew for keeping things rolling. The place was BUSY, with a long line and people coming and going nonstop. The ambience had that fun, lively Sausalito tourist vibe, though. You could tell everyone had the same idea we did: walk around, grab something sweet, and enjoy the moment. Great little stop after a walk, especially when you need that "we have time for one more thing before the ferry" treat. Sausalito + walk + ice cream + ferry = pretty hard to complain about!
