There was a line out the door when we were there! Their creamy ice creams and big freshly made waffle cones was the attraction but I ended up ordering their affogato. It was good but next time I might ask for no orange peels. They were overpowering everything else.
It was packed and busy inside, even on a summer weekday, but the staff definitely got us in and out fast! You can try different flavors do decide what you want like any other ice cream parlor. There is some cozy table seating inside and benches right outside as well. I recommend trying the more unique flavors that you don't see as often at other places, such as Nuku Hiva or other Hawaiian based flavors. I loved that the coconut pineapple base had pineapple & coconut fibers in it, so you know fresh fruit is used. This is likely the best ice cream in the area!
This place has been all over my instagram, so I finally tried it when we went to Sausalito with friends. We samples 2 flavors and ended up getting the Chocolate Macadamia Nut. The place was super packed and busy since we went on a weekend, but the line moved fast. You can sit and enjoy your ice cream there, but there might be just 2 tables, so it's better to do takeout. Coming back to try more flavors! This was right after our Hawaii trip, so we loved seeing the Hawaiian flavors there.

fter taking the ferry to Sausalito, we were greeted by classic Bay Area weather--cold, windy, and definitely not what most people would consider ice cream weather. That didn't stop us. We made our way to Lappert's, and after the first few bites, we knew we'd made the right decision. Every flavor we tried was outstanding. Not a single one disappointed. The staff was incredibly patient and kind with our kids as they asked to sample what felt like half the menu before finally making their decisions. They never seemed rushed and made the experience fun for the whole family. Our son loved it so much that he went back for seconds, which might be the strongest review a kid can give. Our daughter and I both ended up with two scoops because choosing just one flavor felt impossible. There's something special about ice cream that's so good you're willing to stand outside in the cold, smiling between bites. Lappert's was one of the highlights of our day in Sausalito and a place we'll make sure to visit every time we're back.
It's one of my favorite spots for delicious ice cream, but this time the place was packed, chaotic, and it wasn't clear where the lines for ordering were--I think they need to be better organized. However, the staff was friendly when they served us. The place is small but modern.
I got the chocolate peanut butter flavor, and the ice cream was decent. The peanut butter came in large chunks, which I wasn't expecting, and they tasted salty for my liking. The ordering process was also disorganized. Staff take your order first, but then you have to get in another line to pay, which creates multiple lines and slows things down.
Service and ice cream options are a lot better than the options across the street. Best part was the service, very friendly and kind. 3 stars because 2 single scoop ice cream cones for $16 is criminal and I'm giving 3 stars so something can be done. But I understand it's an expensive area...
Unfortunately this location didn't have any vegan ice cream options aside from the sorbets (I'm dairy free!) so my mom had this vanilla ice cream! She got one scoop of the no sugar low fat vanilla ice cream with a waffle cone; she described it as creamy but not too heavy! The vanilla is not too sweet - which is huge coming from my Asian mom! The service was quick and the shop was so cute and cozy! There was a line but it moved quickly.

UGHHH the cookie monster ice cream is just sooo pretty and delicious - I am craving it! Lappert's Ice Cream is a great ice cream spot around the area. Huge scoops. Delicious ice cream. A very nice way to eat it is by walking around the water - some peace, serenity, and the blue cookie monster.
We ordered the sea salt caramel flavor, and it was huge enough to share. The flavor was so good -- the slight saltiness balanced the rich sweetness of the caramel perfectly. This flavor is not too swee, but does not stand out. The cone was crunchy, I believe they import cone from Italy. Overall, the store is nice. Interesting ice cream flavors, but it tastes like your standard ice cream.
this hit the spot after seeing the sunset up nearby at mount tam It's an extremely popular ice cream shop, but I think it's worth the wait. They have a couple Hawaiian flavors besides the usual options. I went with the Horchata Cajeta and it was perfect. The scoops are huge and the waffle cones are tasty! We ordered our ice cream and walked nearby to the pier to eat and enjoy the night atmosphere and views of SF across the bay. read more
Walked around Sausalito, worked up an appetite, and somehow the logical next step was ice cream. Since we were catching the ferry back to the city, we made a quick stop at Lappert's. I kept it classic with vanilla, while wifey went for the coffee. Both were yummy, creamy, and exactly what we needed before getting on the ferry. The line looked LONG when we got there, and for a second I thought, "Well, there goes the ferry." But they had the line moving FAST, so kudos to the crew for keeping things rolling. The place was BUSY, with a long line and people coming and going nonstop. The ambience had that fun, lively Sausalito tourist vibe, though. You could tell everyone had the same idea we did: walk around, grab something sweet, and enjoy the moment. Great little stop after a walk, especially when you need that "we have time for one more thing before the ferry" treat. Sausalito + walk + ice cream + ferry = pretty hard to complain about! read more

I stopped by Lappert's Ice Cream in Sausalito on a pretty warm Sunday afternoon. The place was a bit crowded, but we were able to get our ice cream quickly. I got a scoop of cookie dough in a waffle cone, and it tasted amazing. There were a lot of chunks of cookie dough, so it was definitely a very satisfying amount. I could see why there was quite a bit of a line for this. They seemed to have a lot of very good flavors. read more

We came in on a summer weekday afternoon. This shop is pretty small with only a little seating indoors & a little seating outside. It was fairly busy. Don't plan on being able to stay to enjoy your ice cream. We saw a list of flavors up on the wall. Because the counter was crowded with big groups before us, we couldn't get a look at the ice cream prior to our turn. I snagged quick pics of some cases between getting blocked again. There wasn't a line order per se & a worker would just call for whoever was next. Customer service didn't feel friendly or welcoming at all. It felt rushed with an obvious impatient attitude to hurry & tell them what you want, no offer of a sample or to answer any questions. We just decided to go off the flavor list on the wall for some tasty sounding straightforward choices. We got scoops of Vanilla Bean, Kahlua Truffle, & Chocolate Peanut Butter. The ice cream was delicious, flavorful, rich, & creamy. We got good sized scoops that we really enjoyed. read more

If you're in Sausalito, this classic ice cream shop is worth a visit. There was a long line when I walked past it, so I walked around for a bit before looping back...and the line was still long (so it must be popular for a reason)! I was able to sample some flavors and went with the Blueberry Cheesecake. Very creamy and reminds me of the Costco blueberry muffin in the best way. Also had a taste of the Mayor's Creation, which is a must try for espresso and chocolate lovers. We had our ice cream by the water, which was absolutely the cherry on top! read more

Such a cute stop in Sausalito. I've been to the Lapperts in Honolulu so i was pleasantly surprised to see it again. Got the Chocolate Macadamia Nut with the waffle cone. The waffle cone was extremely disappointing, tasted super stale. The ice cream itself was good, I liked how generous they are with the Mac nuts, I got a crunch in every bite! This place is a cute stop as you walk along the water. read more
Always see a line out the door when I'm here so finally decided to try it out. Cookie dough ice cream - the ice cream wasn't as creamy as I had hoped. The ice cream was on the icier side. The base was also bland so it relied heavily on the cookie dough and chocolate chunks. I expected more at its price point (basically $7 for a single scoop). read more
Came on a Saturday and it was quite crowded. We sampled the Kona mocha chip and rose and they were kind of rushing us so we ordered that. Due to the temperature it was quickly melting, so as the ice cream was falling we grabbed a cup to save it. One staff got so angry at us that we took a cup and insisted that we pay for it. First of all, typically ice cream places offer a cup when serving in a cone, and that wasn't even an option offered to us at payment. Would have happily paid for it initially if and when it was thoughtfully asked. Look at how big the two scoops are. Anyone with basic understanding of physics would see it's necessary. Second, paying for the cup was not an issue and the way he yelled at us was really humiliating. I understand it was a crowded day but do you really have to berate someone for a couple cents? A change of tone to say "hey sorry you have to pay for that cup by the way" would have been a decent choice. read more
I came here for ice cream one weekend afternoon. There was a line and a crowd when I stopped by. We are able to sample a variety of flavors and they have so many flavors available. They had a lot of ice cream flavors I have not had before, the ice cream was good. Got the guava sorbet which was fine, but the coconut pineapple and the nuku hiva were good. read more

For how long the line was, ice cream didn't live up to the expectation. Wasn't incredibly creamy or flavourful as hoped and there were other ice cream spots along the boardwalk that were less busy. read more
Soo many flavors to try! Went for the classic vanilla bean which hit the spot. Line comes and goes, gets pretty long so kind of hard to take your time and sample some. Kind and quick service! Place is nearby all the shops and water view. read more
Loved my chocolate cookies and cream scoop on a waffle cone! Sweet, creamy with big Oreo chunks. Popular ice cream chain in the heart of Sausalito and they definitely receive all the love from visitors judging by the long lines! Service is prompt and the scoopers are very accommodating as I sampled some flavors. They have traditional flavors like cookie dough but I also saw some fun ones like a Hawaiian type and ube. Inside is small with a few tables in the front so most get takeout and enjoy their ice cream near the water. Parking can be tricky but there's paid street and a paid lot a short walk close to the water/harbor. read more
I believe the last time I've been to this spot in Sausalito was when I was in medical school attending the American College of Physicians conference in San Francisco. That was nearly 13 years ago. I had a chance to return today. I remember the cookies and the quaint appearance of this neighborhood ice cream shop. The shop keepers were very kind and accommodating. I'm sure the flavor options have since changed. That was the first time I've had the Guava Cheesecake and the Chocolate with Macadamia nut flavors. They were both truly grand and were the delight of an afternoon sitting on the benches observing the beauty of the bay area this afternoon. Thanks for the memories. read more

A better way to refresh our palate is to get the Lappert's ice cream,so much delicious flavors to choose from,The line is long but they move in fast,thanks to the efficient staff.I personally love the Hawaii sea salt caramel,creamy and delicious while hubby enjoyed his cookie dough ice cream. read more
Popped into this place while visiting Sausalito in the Bay Area... and the day could not have been better. It was sunny and warm with a very soft and mild breeze. The line was a little long and I was worried however it moved along very quickly because the staff have the perfect set up for them to move efficiently and process their orders. The staff is very friendly and very patient because they recognize that there are a lot of tourist that pop into the ice cream shop that are not familiar with the process or the menu. The ice cream shop does not have too much seating on the inside as they want to maximize the space to get customers in and out however, they do have a few options for seating outside the shop. I was fortunate enough to find a table on the inside, so I was able to sit down and enjoy my ice cream while watching them get through an enormous amount of people. I ordered a hot fudge sundae with chocolate macadamia nut ice cream, and it was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The staff was very generous with the toppings and I love that every bite I took had either toasted almonds or macadamia nuts. The ice cream was not too sweet , which was a plus for me. I highly recommend this place however expect for the line to be long and wait times to be short. I waited less than 6 minutes to get to the front counter, so that was very nice. Enjoy! read more

Solid ice cream spot in downtown Sausalito! Usually there's a line, but luckily there wasn't one when we went. It was my first time back in 8 years, and it's just as good as I remember. I used to get the Cookie Monster, but this time I tried the Kauai Pie and I loved it. The mix of coffee, chocolate, and macadamia nut flavors is perfect. My boyfriend got the blueberry cheesecake and that one was really good too. I just got a single scoop, but they give you a generous amount. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

I arrived around 1 PM on a Friday and there were about 10 parties ahead of me. It took about 15-20 minutes to get my Guava Cheesecake ice cream. The weather was around 70* with a slight breeze so the wait wasn't too bad. Definitely shows how popular the place is. Seating is pretty limited with only 2-3 tables, and there's no dedicated parking lot but street parking isn't too bad. Guava Cheesecake ($5) - 8/10 I'm a big fan of strawberry and guava so I might be tad bit biased. I really enjoyed this flavor and couldn't stop eating it. The guava was nice and fresh. Super creamy without being too heavy. It didn't have that weird aftertaste that some ice creams get which was a big plus. I'd definitely visit again if I'm ever in the area. read more

Got a scoop of rose water & honey flavored ice cream in a waffle cone from Lappert's and it didn't disappoint entirely. The ice cream wasn't that flavorful but it had something that kept me eating and desiring more with every bite. I would come back and try a different flavor. Lots of options for flavors of ice cream here. Friendly and helpful service, willing to let you try different flavors of their products. The waffle cone was on or the best I've ever had! read more
