Horrible. I went to the James Ranch Grill with a friend who loves it, mostly the location, I think. I was underwhelmed initially, because it is acoustically impaired--noisy--and has the look and feel of an assisted-living cafeteria. This, on top of an overpriced menu, left me thinking that the food must be amazing to command the price of the "Basic" Burger that I ordered. "Medium," I told the woman at the cash register. My friend got her burger which had good presentation and appeared cooked the way she ordered it. Mine arrived 5 minutes later and I cut it in half. I was bright red and bloody. I didn't need to put it to my lips to know that it was rare. I brought it to the counter and gave the plate to the cook, a young long-haired guy who said, "it is too rare?". I said "yes, this is not medium." Seemed simple enough. In my reality, when a customer is dissatisfied, you try to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. The "cook" began to argue with me saying that because of their quality of meat, that it was organic and local, yada yada yada, that this WAS medium. I think I may have let out a tiny laugh at this point, and I said, well, no, medium was grey around the edges with pink in the middle, not bright red running blood. He argued a bit more and I started to get annoyed and turned away. At this point he said he would fix it. Ten minutes later the woman brought me the meat which was by then scorched through and through--dark brown on the outside, dry and grey on the inside--and on the barely identifiable original bun and lettuce, tomato, etc. that were a completely enmeshed soggy mash. I ate part of what they brought because I couldn't deal with any more of the nonsense, and we were out of time. Horrible food, made infinitely worse by the worst service I've experienced in a while. read more

Fabulos oasis, and felt awesome to eat outside COVID free and distanced with the huge outdoor patio to stay safe . And masks! Ty owners. We had the goatcheese beet salad, I never would order beets and may...not again but it was good. Fingerling potato fries (seriously they were potatos) they were yum, and the ketchup was delish. Hubby got a moanworthy burger. The ranch, seriously to DIE for! The best ever, amazing. Oh did I mention all the fun animals kiddos can pet and feed? Location is great and their staff is super friendly. The burger left a bad taste on my tongue for hours and the only way to add some decent flavor to the burger was via some mustard. The fries were cold and nothing special and the price tag was as high for what ended up on your plate. They also charged refills and for soda that wasn't that great. The owner of Country Sunshine B&B recommended this restaurant during our stay with them. It was everything he said it would be plus more, the staff was very accommodating, and you could see their smiles through their masks! I have Celiac Disease and I don't get to eat at these kinds of places often, but they use sunflower oil and have GF buns..... hands down the best Gf meal I've ate in a very long time! My husband does not have food allergies and he as well said his meal was AMAZING! Also when your get done eating don't forget to stop by their Market, it's what my dreams are made of! read more

Grass fed beef- enough said! We ordered 2 different burgers for 2 of us and no sides for our lunch. They were both so delicious we each ordered another. Probably the best burgers I have ever had and I worked in 2 five star restaurants before... We were scouting for a unique place we could have lunch or dinner with a group of customers we invited to Durango for later in the summer. Ok so why 3 stars. They do not take American Express. I never really understood why independent restaurants take this hard core line against taking AX. I have engaged dozens of owners over the years and they all say the same. AX charges to much. So your telling me your extra fees are more then my future business and the future business of me entertaining 20 customers. Durango has a lot of amazing restaurants and it is a pretty competitive market. Sadly we won't be back. There is a small diner 2 miles away that understands that some customers prefer AX. read more

Went last month on a whim and suggestion from a neighbor back home. We visit Colorado alot and this was our first time to Durango area. I had the green chili Pico burger... TO DIE FOR!! so juicy and delicious. My buddy had beet salad (i think). He said it was super tasty. Service and atmosphere were good. The grass fed burgers, gourmet fries, and the squash based veggie burger were all cooked perfectly and delicious. Expect to pay $15-20 per adult depending on how our choice of beverage but the food, service, and gorgeous setting in the heart of the Animas Valley make it a good bargain. read more

Stopped in for dinner after being in Ouray for the day and had a great experience. Excellent, fresh burgers and the setting overlooking the valley could not be beat. After dinner, we walked around the grounds, which out kids enjoyed. We also stopped into their market which had a variety of high quality meats, cheeses and produce. read more

This is a pretty cool place for a burger. They encouraged my friends not to have their burger cooked "well done" to get more flavor. Sorry, but it is well done for me these days. Regardless, my burger was pretty good. For me, it is a rare occasion that I rate a burger as being better than the one I can make at home...so sorry, it is just 4 stars for me today. I also had a side salad which was actually better than most I that I have had. Seating is outside and there is a little self guided tour you can take to learn about the place. Next time I am in the Durango area, I'd eat here again without argument and highly suggest you try it. But please understand, there is not a large selection to choose from...in fact, it is a very limited selection. read more

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Do I dare say this is the best burger I've ever had? Yes. Hands down! I'll be dreaming about that burger for months. Durango was a pit stop for my husband and I while on our honeymoon. We knew we would eat lunch somewhere in the town so I searched Yelp. We're both on a gluten free diet by choice (not Celiac), and we crave burgers now and again. Finding places that serve gluten free buns is hard but finding places that make their own?! Pretty much nonexistent. I ordered the signature burger and my hubby got the jalapeño popper burger both with GF buns and potato chips. It took about fifteen minutes to get our food. It didn't seem that long because we were sitting outside at one of their picnic tables enjoying the beautiful view of the farm. The burgers were phenomenal! Juicy, natural, grass-fed beef cooked to perfection. The GF bun was flavorful and it would've tasted great all by itself. Everything was simple but they used such high quality ingredients that it didn't need to be fancy or elaborate to taste great. All I can say is I'm really sad that we live 6 hours away from this place. It might actually be a good thing because I would want to eat here everyday and I'd be broke! If you're in Durango, do yourself a favor and eat at Harvest Grill & Greens!! read more

Small menu but what they offer is high quality ingredients and expertly prepared food. The burger was one of the best I've had. Thick, juicy, cooked just the way I asked, an egg on top that oozed goodness through the burger and a delicious bun. The chips appeared homemade and were crisp and perfectly seasoned. Very good burgers and a really nice atmosphere outside dining is nice and they have some tables inside as well. Everything was very fresh. The Only thing I did not like was that they charge you for drink refills... I felt like for the price point they shouldn't nickel and dime you to refill your drink. - That being said the lemonade was TOP NOTCH I'm pretty certain it was homemade and I did pay $1 for an extra refill because I really enjoyed it. ( plus I drank a whole large cup before my meal was really) Also this place is kid friendly. So that's a nice plus! Overall this was an awesome dinner experience! The yelp reviews were correct - the burger is AMAZING! Meat is really delicious, and the toppings are really fresh. Not to mention that the farm is great - for several reasons: 1. Dog friendly - and really, truly friendly towards dogs; they were super welcoming and let our eager Golden Retriever meet the baby goats: Hansel & Gretel. 2. Views - so stunning! 3. Farm animals - baby goats, chickens; one of the owners let visiting kids feed the baby goats out of bottles 4. Friendly, family run farm 5.
