First found through other reviews but had to try when driving from Purgatory to Durango. The food and views did not disappoint. We had the Veggie Burger with frys - it was incredible. Only regret was not ordering another! read more

James Ranch Grill - View from picnic table - New American Near Me - Durango, Colorado

We had a birthday party for our adult twins this week at James Ranch. Even though it was crowded the employees were very friendly. So nice since many places, especially ones that are under staffed, the employees are unbearably rude. I get it, it's tough to be pleasant when you're slammed, but James Ranch manages it. I live in Dolores and James Rsnvh is my new favorite restaurant in Durango! read more

The burgers here are amazing! The meat is fresh and juicy, and they have specialty sodas that are delicious and refreshing. There are also gluten free brownies and macaroons, as well as regular cookies and treats. You can eat at picnic tables, or bring a blanket to sit on the grass. There are goats for the kiddos to pet, and space to play and roam while waiting for your meal. Also, the view is beautiful. I definitely recommend this place! read more

James Ranch Grill - The view from our picnic table - New American Near Me - Durango, Colorado

Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. Highly suggest this place and the setting is perfect for these Covid times. You can taste the freshness of the farm to table food. The the mayo is made on the farm with the fresh farm eggs. Staff is on point as well. Extremely friendly and this is a place I will come every time I'm out near Durango. read more

Fresh, fresh, fresh & tasty! The meats & veggies here are amazing. All organic ingredients grown or raised. Make this stop for lunch or dinner north of Durango. read more

Beautiful place with great views good food to boot! If it's cool outside they have seating inside but summertime you need to experience the outdoors! read more

Fabulos oasis, and felt awesome to eat outside COVID free and distanced with the huge outdoor patio to stay safe . And masks! Ty owners. We had the goatcheese beet salad, I never would order beets and may...not again but it was good. Fingerling potato fries (seriously they were potatos) they were yum, and the ketchup was delish. Hubby got a moanworthy burger. The ranch, seriously to DIE for! The best ever, amazing. Oh did I mention all the fun animals kiddos can pet and feed? Definitely a must stop, bougie marker selling super fresh meats and cheeses. Awesome. read more

James Ranch has always been a favorite of ours. But now with their new dining options it is even more special. The farm fresh food is always amazing and the setting is unbeatable. The inside out cheese grilled sandwich is something you can only get here. You don't want to miss this place when in Durango. read more

Location is great and their staff is super friendly. The burger left a bad taste on my tongue for hours and the only way to add some decent flavor to the burger was via some mustard. The fries were cold and nothing special and the price tag was as high for what ended up on your plate. They also charged refills and for soda that wasn't that great. I was super disappointed with my meal and Grass Burger although not the best is a better option. read more

We asked for our burgers to be med well and they were med rare... fries were okay. The staff was not friendly and could learn some simple hospitality to welcome guest since I'm sure most are traveling from out of town as we are. 4 of us spent $70 for 4 burgers, 2 fries, and water. read more

Amazing burger. Beautiful view. Great service. Plus the market next door is super cute.

Horrible. I went to the James Ranch Grill with a friend who loves it, mostly the location, I think. I was underwhelmed initially, because it is acoustically impaired--noisy--and has the look and feel of an assisted-living cafeteria. This, on top of an overpriced menu, left me thinking that the food must be amazing to command the price of the "Basic" Burger that I ordered. "Medium," I told the woman at the cash register. My friend got her burger which had good presentation and appeared cooked the way she ordered it. Mine arrived 5 minutes later and I cut it in half. I was bright red and bloody. I didn't need to put it to my lips to know that it was rare. I brought it to the counter and gave the plate to the cook, a young long-haired guy who said, "it is too rare?". I said "yes, this is not medium." Seemed simple enough. In my reality, when a customer is dissatisfied, you try to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. The "cook" began to argue with me saying that because of their quality of meat, that it was organic and local, yada yada yada, that this WAS medium. I think I may have let out a tiny laugh at this point, and I said, well, no, medium was grey around the edges with pink in the middle, not bright red running blood. He argued a bit more and I started to get annoyed and turned away. At this point he said he would fix it. Ten minutes later the woman brought me the meat which was by then scorched through and through--dark brown on the outside, dry and grey on the inside--and on the barely identifiable original bun and lettuce, tomato, etc. that were a completely enmeshed soggy mash. I ate part of what they brought because I couldn't deal with any more of the nonsense, and we were out of time. Horrible food, made infinitely worse by the worst service I've experienced in a while. read more

I'll keep this simple. Some of the best food you can have while in this area. Burger with green chilies was terrific. The veggie burger was so good we have recreated it at home! Great little place. Great atmosphere. read more

The owner of Country Sunshine B&B recommended this restaurant during our stay with them. It was everything he said it would be plus more, the staff was very accommodating, and you could see their smiles through their masks! I have Celiac Disease and I don't get to eat at these kinds of places often, but they use sunflower oil and have GF buns..... hands down the best Gf meal I've ate in a very long time! My husband does not have food allergies and he as well said his meal was AMAZING! Also when your get done eating don't forget to stop by their Market, it's what my dreams are made of! read more

Fresh food on the farm. Sitting outside with amazing views. My wife and I enjoyed our date and will certainly return when we make it back this way. read more

Grass fed beef- enough said! We ordered 2 different burgers for 2 of us and no sides for our lunch. They were both so delicious we each ordered another. Probably the best burgers I have ever had and I worked in 2 five star restaurants before... Property is nice but would love to see them expand the places visitors can go - it would be nice to see more of their acreage. read more

Awesome family owned business. The view is beautiful and atmosphere is great. The wait is sometimes a little long but that is because they have so many customers! I would highly recommend the signature burger. read more

Beautiful setting, really enjoyed our meal, very friendly and the market was amazing.

My wife and I went to lunch and the food was great, and the place was amazing. We were scouting for a unique place we could have lunch or dinner with a group of customers we invited to Durango for later in the summer. Ok so why 3 stars. They do not take American Express. I never really understood why independent restaurants take this hard core line against taking AX. I have engaged dozens of owners over the years and they all say the same. AX charges to much. So your telling me your extra fees are more then my future business and the future business of me entertaining 20 customers. Durango has a lot of amazing restaurants and it is a pretty competitive market. Sadly we won't be back. There is a small diner 2 miles away that understands that some customers prefer AX. read more

20/10 The food was warm and amazing. The service was super great too. They have adapted well to the pandemic. The view is so nice. They give you many options... I will definitely come back read more

The grass fed burgers, gourmet fries, and the squash based veggie burger were all cooked perfectly and delicious. Expect to pay $15-20 per adult depending on how our choice of beverage but the food, service, and gorgeous setting in the heart of the Animas Valley make it a good bargain. read more

Went last month on a whim and suggestion from a neighbor back home. We visit Colorado alot and this was our first time to Durango area. I had the green chili Pico burger... TO DIE FOR!! so juicy and delicious. My buddy had beet salad (i think). He said it was super tasty. Service and atmosphere were good. Would definitely go back and recommend as a great place to eat. read more

This is one of our favorite places in Durango. The atmosphere is great, the staff is super friendly and the food is amazing

We went with friends and it was close by. I guess my expectations were guiding my taste buds. I had the basic burger (cause if you can't do the basics then give it up) and the burger was just OK. I know they advertise as a farm to table experience but I didn't see any of that. This is a great place for kids but it's not the gourmet place of which others speak. read more

OMG the burger most def lived up to the hype, I almost broke down and had seconds but my pockets couldnt afford it. The flavor was impeccable. The atmosphere was delightful. The only downside is I felt it was a little pricey for the size. But I will be a regular most def! read more

Stopped in for dinner after being in Ouray for the day and had a great experience. Excellent, fresh burgers and the setting overlooking the valley could not be beat. After dinner, we walked around the grounds, which out kids enjoyed. We also stopped into their market which had a variety of high quality meats, cheeses and produce. read more

This is a pretty cool place for a burger. They encouraged my friends not to have their burger cooked "well done" to get more flavor. Sorry, but it is well done for me these days. Regardless, my burger was pretty good. For me, it is a rare occasion that I rate a burger as being better than the one I can make at home...so sorry, it is just 4 stars for me today. I also had a side salad which was actually better than most I that I have had. Seating is outside and there is a little self guided tour you can take to learn about the place. Next time I am in the Durango area, I'd eat here again without argument and highly suggest you try it. But please understand, there is not a large selection to choose from...in fact, it is a very limited selection. read more

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Do I dare say this is the best burger I've ever had? Yes. Hands down! I'll be dreaming about that burger for months. Durango was a pit stop for my husband and I while on our honeymoon. We knew we would eat lunch somewhere in the town so I searched Yelp. We're both on a gluten free diet by choice (not Celiac), and we crave burgers now and again. Finding places that serve gluten free buns is hard but finding places that make their own?! Pretty much nonexistent. I ordered the signature burger and my hubby got the jalapeño popper burger both with GF buns and potato chips. It took about fifteen minutes to get our food. It didn't seem that long because we were sitting outside at one of their picnic tables enjoying the beautiful view of the farm. The burgers were phenomenal! Juicy, natural, grass-fed beef cooked to perfection. The GF bun was flavorful and it would've tasted great all by itself. Everything was simple but they used such high quality ingredients that it didn't need to be fancy or elaborate to taste great. All I can say is I'm really sad that we live 6 hours away from this place. It might actually be a good thing because I would want to eat here everyday and I'd be broke! If you're in Durango, do yourself a favor and eat at Harvest Grill & Greens!! read more

Stopped by this place on the recommendation from our AirBnB host. Great outdoor seating, grass fed beef and good local beer. My son and I had the Green Chili Pico Burger and it was great. This was just a great relaxing place for a simple meal. Great space for kids read more

I guess a place with all five star reviews doesn't really need my 2 cents, but...the hamburgers were the best we've had in, forever. Sitting at a picnic table looking over the lush river bottom was a bonus. So good we bought some frozen ground beef to go and don't you know I got credit for being a fantastic grill master just a few days later. read more

Everything about this place is great. The setting. The views. The chickens and goats. The cool sheds they work out of. The market. And best of all the food. Small menu but what they offer is high quality ingredients and expertly prepared food. The burger was one of the best I've had. Thick, juicy, cooked just the way I asked, an egg on top that oozed goodness through the burger and a delicious bun. The chips appeared homemade and were crisp and perfectly seasoned. The side of the day, potato salad, was just o.k. My wife had the Belford grilled cheese on focaccia bread. She loved it but said it could have been cheesier. read more

What a great find! Beautiful location and great food, done the right way. A true farm to table experience.

You just can't beat Farm-to-Table for quality and flavor! No joke - this was the best burger of my life! I also had their summer salad - and WOW - the lettuce had a delicious hearty flavor I've never tasted before. My City Gal tastebuds just got elevated to a whole other level! read more

Very good burgers and a really nice atmosphere outside dining is nice and they have some tables inside as well. Everything was very fresh. The Only thing I did not like was that they charge you for drink refills... I felt like for the price point they shouldn't nickel and dime you to refill your drink. - That being said the lemonade was TOP NOTCH I'm pretty certain it was homemade and I did pay $1 for an extra refill because I really enjoyed it. ( plus I drank a whole large cup before my meal was really) Also this place is kid friendly. So that's a nice plus! Overall this was an awesome dinner experience! I highly recommend it if you're in the area! read more

The best burger you will ever eat! In the city you always hear a place is "farm to table". This place takes that term to a whole other level. Here you actually get to eat at the farm! The scenery is gorgeous in the summertime. My only advice is to make sure you add an egg to your burger. You won't be disappointed. read more
