My family and I recently had a week long trip in Durango, CO. We were staying at the Lodge at Tamarron and this little restaurant was only 5 minutes away. It's placed on a beautiful hillside where you can see the dairy cows and you can even go in and hang out with two friendly goats, Snicker & Doodle. Out of our 7 days on our trip we ate at James Ranch Grill 4 nights because it was so amazing! The roasted beet salad was to die for and the burgers were delicious, all of their ingredients coming from their own ranch or being locally sourced. There is also a little market. The ambience is indescribable, all the picnic tables outside and we were lucky enough on our last night there was a live band playing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone over in the Durango area because it's a once in a lifetime experience! read more

Had been looking forward to coming here on our vacation. Burgers were ok and fries were good. Expected a bit more for the price. A burger and fries and a little apple hand pie ran $29. Plus when I asked for ranch to dip my fries there was a charge for that. Beautiful scenery and very friendly staff but I probably would not return. I had hoped for the tour but I guess no tours because of covid(?). Also kind of surprised to pay $9.50 for a plastic glass of Chardonnay ‍pretty place with pretty good food. read more

I wasn't fan of the burger, especially when mine had a lot of nerves inside the meat. The rest of the party liked theirs. We did go back another day and this time I had the BLT. Fries are delicious! Legit burger!! I wish they were closer to town, but it makes it a special treat :) I came here once before winter set in and it was beautiful! The outdoor seating is awesome because you can sit beneath the trees and enjoy the scenery. We petted the goats in the pen near the benches then watched the cows in the field. They bring your food to your table so all you have to worry about is getting your condiments (ketchup and mustard to the right of the ordering area) The first time I tried James Ranch my burger was a bit too pink in the center, but this time around it was perfect! I love the fresh veggies that come with the burger too; the pickles have a delicious crunch. Since the weather turned cold they set up a tent to the side of their mini market which was awesome because we didn't have to sit out in the cold! We warmed up with some yummy potato leek soup (actually not that creamy which I liked), then dug into our burgers (1/3 pound whoaaa). Only downsides: it's kind of a drive and they don't have fries. read more

Wow!! You get to eat outside with so much space! And the food! We had a burger, the steak sandwich, corn, and slaw. Probably the best burger ever. You don't get more local than this -- anywhere we've been at least. The burger was the softest and juiciest. I had a rose from a vineyard and Colorado and was pleasantly surprised. When we went they texted you when your order was ready, so you can sit and enjoy the pond and greenery, or browse their store that was full of fresh produce, cheese, meat, sweets, and local gifts. One of the best meals I had while in Durango. This was a great find. Harvest Grill and Greens is a food truck located on the James family ranch. The ranch and the food truck are family owned and operated. They offer up a farm-to-table menu with most of their items coming directly from one of the family farms. I had the Signature Burger with Yukon gold roasted potatoes. The potatoes were good but the star was the BURGER. It was cooked perfectly to my liking, medium, and was so fresh! It was served with caramelized onions, lettuce, Belford cheese and an incredible rosemary-garlic mayo. It was served atop a nicely toasted bun that provided a great subtle crunch. My only regret was that I couldn't try more! I really enjoyed the food, the staff and the atmosphere. I will be back as soon as possible. Happy eating. :) read more

The burgers here are amazing! The meat is fresh and juicy, and they have specialty sodas that are delicious and refreshing. There are also gluten free brownies and macaroons, as well as regular cookies and treats. You can eat at picnic tables, or bring a blanket to sit on the grass. There are goats for the kiddos to pet, and space to play and roam while waiting for your meal. Also, the view is beautiful. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Horrible. I went to the James Ranch Grill with a friend who loves it, mostly the location, I think. I was underwhelmed initially, because it is acoustically impaired--noisy--and has the look and feel of an assisted-living cafeteria. This, on top of an overpriced menu, left me thinking that the food must be amazing to command the price of the "Basic" Burger that I ordered. "Medium," I told the woman at the cash register. My friend got her burger which had good presentation and appeared cooked the way she ordered it. Mine arrived 5 minutes later and I cut it in half. I was bright red and bloody. I didn't need to put it to my lips to know that it was rare. I brought it to the counter and gave the plate to the cook, a young long-haired guy who said, "it is too rare?". I said "yes, this is not medium." Seemed simple enough. In my reality, when a customer is dissatisfied, you try to remedy the situation. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. The "cook" began to argue with me saying that because of their quality of meat, that it was organic and local, yada yada yada, that this WAS medium. I think I may have let out a tiny laugh at this point, and I said, well, no, medium was grey around the edges with pink in the middle, not bright red running blood. He argued a bit more and I started to get annoyed and turned away. At this point he said he would fix it. Ten minutes later the woman brought me the meat which was by then scorched through and through--dark brown on the outside, dry and grey on the inside--and on the barely identifiable original bun and lettuce, tomato, etc. that were a completely enmeshed soggy mash. I ate part of what they brought because I couldn't deal with any more of the nonsense, and we were out of time. Horrible food, made infinitely worse by the worst service I've experienced in a while. read more

Location is great and their staff is super friendly. The burger left a bad taste on my tongue for hours and the only way to add some decent flavor to the burger was via some mustard. The fries were cold and nothing special and the price tag was as high for what ended up on your plate. They also charged refills and for soda that wasn't that great. The owner of Country Sunshine B&B recommended this restaurant during our stay with them. It was everything he said it would be plus more, the staff was very accommodating, and you could see their smiles through their masks! I have Celiac Disease and I don't get to eat at these kinds of places often, but they use sunflower oil and have GF buns..... hands down the best Gf meal I've ate in a very long time! My husband does not have food allergies and he as well said his meal was AMAZING! Also when your get done eating don't forget to stop by their Market, it's what my dreams are made of! read more
