If you come to the Durango, Colorado area, you need to check out Mill Street Bistro in Bayfield. The ambiance has a great vibe. Although a small menu, there ia something for everyone. I went with two others and we all loved our entrees (Bistro Risotto and Shrimp Etouffee). I had the Bistro Risotto and it was delicious! The soppressatta salami added great flavor. We all shared a fried scallops appetizer to start and they were light and flavorful. Owners,Kelsey and Pete, have a great staff and put lots of love into their food. I will be back when I visit Durango again. read more

Good food and service, very nice atmosphere and staff. We visited the restaurant on a Thursday around 6:30. We made a reservation but would have been seated right away without it. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and much larger than it looks from the street, providing multiple different seating areas. We were seated in a small back room overlooking the nice backyard. We didn't realize there was outdoor patio seating or we would have chosen that. As it was, our table was very nice. The menu is small but presents a good variety. My wife started with the caprese salad, which was made with a balsamic reduction that was excellent. I had the petite southwest salad. Petite is still a very large salad and it was very good, especially the honey chipotle vinaigrette. For entrees, my wife had the crab cakes from the appetizer menu. The serving was three small crab cakes on arugula slaw. It wouldn't normally be enough for an entree but was plenty for a light dinner. My wife liked it very much. I had the smoke salmon pasta. This was the only dish that was just ok. It had a nice, light lemon dill cream sauce but no other flavors really stood out and the salmon kind of got lost. I liked it but will try something different next time. We ended by trying the two desserts - the strawberry rhubarb crisp (excellent, lots of rhubarb flavors and not too sweet) and the peach melba (more cakey than I expected but also very good). The staff was very friendly. We were waited on by multiple people and the chef even came by to check on the food. With a couple of glasses of wine each, the meal came to about $100. It was well worth it. This is a very nice option when looking for a nice night out in Bayfield. We'll definitely return. read more

Food: good, steak entree was too salty though; mac n cheese with pork was good Service was good BUT do not bring your own bday cake because you'll get charged $10 without even being told! Was told we were charged because they stored the cake, because they offer desserts and all restaurants do it. Hmm was actually the first time being charged. We have never been disappointed with any meal we have had at Mill Street Bistro. This is high quality food prepared in a manner worthy of a big city restaurant. Flavorful does not do the food justice. Order your steak the way you like it. That's the way it arrives at your table. Service and drinks are also first class. We recommend getting your reservations early. A real feather in the cap for Bayfield. Save the drive to Durango and save some money to boot! read more

My husband and I had a reservation for 6:45pm. Taking and delivering our drinks took forever. Then after being the for an hour, the waitress tells me they ran out of my entree 2 orders ago. This was our first time there with recommendation to go there. Sorry but won't be back. !So disappointed! read more

Food was well prepared with seasonally available ingredients. The service was excellent, timely, cordial. Our server answered all our questions about the dishes (duck, beef noodle bowl and blackened shrimp with grits). Cocktails were well made. The food is top-notch, it's great that every week there is a different menu which gives us tons of alternatives. Nice upscale restaurant and we don't have to travel all the way to Durango for great food. I'll eat here at the bistro anytime. This week I had the chicken lollipops that were excellent as an hors d'oeuvre and the coconut curry mussels also made a great hors d'oeuvre. Dinner was shrimp with grits and shepherd's pie also excellent very very delicious comfort food. Excellent wine choice and spirits. Staff is attentive and friendly. Traveling back to Southern California. We have been on the road 6 weeks. This restaurant is by far the best of any where we have eaten. It is in a little out of the way place in a small town but the food and service are extraordinaire. The restaurant looks like a house from the outside but inside it is well decorated and inviting with beautiful patio seating. The menu changes each week. We chose a pork dish that was perfection and so were the deserts. Put this place on your must do list if you're traveling through. read more

A delightful dining experience in a cozy setting with top notch service! This new restaurant is open only Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4 until 8 each day so a bit of pre-planning is suggested. Set in the colorful and quaint Mill Street district of town the ambience is perfect for a date night. With a menu that changes weekly part of the attraction is to find out what's new. My wife and I each had the lobster mac n cheese although the pork chop offering looked mighty tempting. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the cheese combination was marvelous and the chef didn't scrimp on the lobster. The portion was generous. With Durango only a stone's throw away you might be tempted to not give Mill Street Bistro a second thought. Don't make that mistake! read more

The first two times we ate here the food was excellent, as was the service. Something has gone wrong recently. Last week our drinks didn't seem to have any alcohol in them. This week we ordered the poutine appetizer which was supposed to have crispy, shoestring fries. It was served with regular fries which were undercooked and soggy. We also ordered the jambalaya. What we got was a bowl of rice with spicy tomato sauce, about six slices of sausage, and about six tiny calamari rings. And I mean tiny. The third entree was the pork tenderloin. Our guest felt the portion was small and dry. The drinks were okay because we had the mix and alcohol delivered separately. I hope they fix whatever is going wrong because we hoped to make the Bistro our special local restaurant. read more

What a wonderful hidden gem! Great atmosphere and welcoming staff. This was our first time here and my wife and I agreed that it was the best meal we have had in months. I had a cranberry, walnut, Gorgonzola salad for an appetizer and it was great. Very light with a vine grate dressing and Gorgonzola crumbles. For the entree, we both had the filet and lobster and both were cooked to perfection. My filet was super tender and most importantly NOT over salted. The lobster tail was probably a nice size 6oz tail with drawn butter, it doesn't get any better for me. We split a dessert since we were both really full by now. We had the chocolate mouse with raspberry's. Try this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. I never leave reviews, but this restaurant definitely deserved one. Jim Mitchell read more

What a wonderful addition to Bayfield! The food was incredible. We had crab cakes as an appetizer, my wife had the mushroom/sweet potato risotto, and I had the duck. Everything was delicious. The service was exceptional - very friendly and quite helpful finding solutions to my dairy allergy. The ambiance is very nice - it has a very welcoming vibe. We ate inside, but the back patio is beautiful. They have a different menu every week, so go with an open mind and prepare to be amazed! We will definitely be back!!! read more

So you know a place is good when you can't even make it a week without going back. The food is phenomenal and the menu changes weekly. We had a Cesar salad and prime rib. Salad was the typical Cesar. Prime rib was fantastic, flavorful and cooked perfectly it came with a horseradish sauce and mashed potatoes. I love this place. Finally a fine dining date night Restuarant in Bayfield. This little bistro is a true blessing to our little community of Bayfield CO. Excellent detail to professionally prepared food using only fresh ingredients. They are only open three nights a week but there are times we eat there twice a week. They also catered our company Christmas party and we couldn't have asked for more. They made it a memorable evening with our employees. A rather new restaurant but has already become a staple in the community! AND no need to go to DURANGO for good food. I'd been waiting for something that really caught my eye on their menu. This week (October 16th) they had Beef Wellington as an App. We had to go try it. First up, the restaurant is beautiful, a lovely atmosphere. Our waitress was a bit inexperienced (at least I hope that was the case) and not very personable. I asked for some herb tea but there was a very limited no-caffeine selection, stayed with water. My friend ordered the pot roast fettucine. She said the roast melted in her mouth but didn't rave about the rest. I started with the petite berry salad. It was a good portion, a little skimpy on berries and feta cheese. I was disappointed with the beef wellington app. There were two decent size pastries but not much meat, only a couple slices of mushrooms and the puff pastry wasn't very puffy or flakey. I know the place has had rave reviews and for small town Bayfield it is a refreshing change to have decent meal selections but if I'm being honest based on this meal I wouldn't rush back but I will give them another shot. Perhaps beef wellington was a bit of a reach, there is room for improvement on this particular dish. read more

Hands down the best meal I've had in the Four Corners area in a long time. Excellent service! Must try the coconut shrimp and Lobster Mac and cheese! Excellent wine and beer selections too! If you're in Durango or Pagosa this place is worth the drive (and you won't have to fight for parking). Perfect Date night! read more

wow. truly impressed with this place. amazing that something as high quality as this is in Bayfield. I've literally never had good lobster mac in my life until tonight. it's always just a total waste of chunks of tail completely erased by cheese sauce but JESUS this mac! must've been 6 or 7 WHOLE claws in my bowl. honestly it was shocking. the only knock on this place is the appetizers. please stop with the flatbread. it's pretty bland and the bread itself is clearly right out of the freezer. love the weekly menu turnover(keep that mac tho ). crazy how much room there is inside. you'd never guess after seeing the front of the building. staff was super friendly etc etc. read more
