The yelp reviews were correct - the burger is AMAZING! Meat is really delicious, and the toppings are really fresh. Not to mention that the farm is great - for several reasons: 1. Dog friendly - and really, truly friendly towards dogs; they were super welcoming and let our eager Golden Retriever meet the baby goats: Hansel & Gretel. 2. Views - so stunning! 3. Farm animals - baby goats, chickens; one of the owners let visiting kids feed the baby goats out of bottles 4. Friendly, family run farm 5. And once again, one of the most delicious burgers I've ever had. We can't wait to return! read more

Oh my goodness!!!!!! This was one of the best burgers EVER!!! From grass fed beef to the on site made cheese it was perfect!! The caramelized onions were even tasty... and I don't like them normally. The homemade ice cream was soooo tasty too! Basic strawberry...oooooo yum!! read more

James Ranch Grill - New American Near Me - Durango, Colorado

Great burgers and very nice setting! We always bring our guest here for a night. It's not the cheapest burger in town but they are good.

delicious n scrumptious !!!! Fun for the whole family!!! Even dog friendly!!! Its pricy but definitely worth the trip

My family and I visited James Ranch while we were in Durango for the day last August. We loved Harvest Grill & Greens...the food, outdoor seating, beautiful view, everything! I ordered the Signature Veggie Burger and it was spectacular! I would definitely order it again. read more

If you haven't yet been to the James Ranch Grill, you owe it to yourself to go once they open for the season around 5/31. The burgers, topped with thin crusty fried onions, and served on a homemade bun are among the best I've ever had, and I've had quite a few! The coleslaw is quite tasty. It's a real pleasure to sit at picnic tables under their huge trees. There's lots of room for children to run and play. I haven't been to the summer concerts here, but am told they are special, too. Enjoy! read more

This place is exceptional. Great service, outstanding food. And the bread and vegetables from the market are some of the freshest I've ever had. The James Ranch is a must visit when in Durango. read more

Is love too strong an emotion to describe the ranch? We split the Signature Burger and the Veggie Burger with the kale salad. It's the first time I've ever finished eatong before my husbnd lol. The food was fresh and delicious included the gorgeous gluten free bun! YUM! The absolute best burgers we've ever had! Our dog Matilda lounged on the cool green terrace enjoying a couple bites of our food before partaking in their doggie treats. She gave it 2 paws up. We purchased a couple packs for the road. She also enjoyed seeing the little goats. I admire their philosophy at the ranch... go read their blogs! I'm big fan of local produce and meats and quality farming. I love love love they have several generations running the enterprises with respect for the environment. I loaded up on delcious artisian cheeses and beef to take home. Luckily the rv we rented has a freezer and fridge! We were full so took gluten free brownies and cookies for snacks and Strawberry Rhubarb ice cream. Tonight we dine in style at the intermediary rv site. Oh nd I forgot to mention Mason's hine made fudge! Yep had to have it along with their hand crafter lotion and lip balm. Since we had Matilda with and I'm in a walking cast we didn't do a farm tour nor see the produce/flower gardens. That'll be for another time. The beautiful lush green fields and happy cows was an impressive back drop! I admit I was stalking the farm on social media for the pst 2 weeks after discovering it as dog friendly and gluten free friendly. I was not disappointed in the least! Make an effort to drop in for a real treat. Check the their schedule first as I believe they take a rest on Sunday. See ya next year! read more

Had the Pico burger, not that great had a strange taste, French fries over done tasted burnt. Expensive for a burger, best part the view and outdoor seating. read more

Amazing food and environment! We ordered the steak sandwiches and the burgers which were all flavorful. The fingerling potatoes perfectly crisped and the kale slaw was so delish! They had several beers on tap and were refreshing. And to top it all, we sat at picnic tables outside in the back overlooking the farm, mountains, and river. Can't get better than that, esp during this time of Covid. read more

One year later and we were not disappointed. The burgers are just as delicious as the first time we came. Durango is our "go to" vacation spot and Harvest Grill & Greens at James Ranch will always be our "go to" place for the best hamburgers we have ever enjoyed. While seating is outdoors with magnificent mountains, pasture, and river views, they do have a couple of covered areas. This year we stuck with the Signature burgers complete with fried egg and bacon - while there are other items on the menu, these burgers are so uniquely tasty that I couldn't bring myself to try anything else. Perhaps, if we lived in Durango, we would be more willing to sample their other menu items. (Note: I seldom order a burger if there are other choices on the menu. Burgers just aren't my thing. Only ordered a burger the first time based on the reviews). As mentioned in other reviews, a small market is on the property. The market sells products from either their own ranch/farm or small, local suppliers: meat (open range, grass fed), amazing cheeses processed at the ranch, produce, and ice cream. This year we took the time to learn a little more about this family owned ranch. There are brochures in the market which explains how their land and animals are cared for. In addition, we enjoyed chatting with Stan, grandson of the couple who started the ranch. Based on our conversations with Stan (whose advice on the ice cream was 'spot-on'), we appreciated even more this family's dedication to quality and responsible farming (i.e., raising animals which are cared for and sustaining the land by rotating crops, natural fertilizers, etc.). Location: The first time we came here, we missed the ranch and had to double back to find it. This year we learned...the location is just past Honeyville (if you're coming from Durango), on the opposite side of the road. read more

So good. Got the burger and my wife got the steak sandwich. Everything is fresh and the atmosphere is fun as heck

This is by far my favorite spot to eat at in Durango area. Best farm to table experience I've ever had. I LOVE bringing new people to check out this unique ranch, grocery, and grill. The inside out grilled cheese (add egg, onions, and tomato) is always my go to. Also, love their super sweet goats Cookies and Creme, who love to be petted and loved on. This spot is currently closed for construction and counting down the days till they re-open. I probably visited this Ranch once or twice a week.. Worth every penny! read more

Talk about farm to fork, you can hear the cattle lowing in the background and play with their new baby goats (Snicker and Doodle). Menu is somewhat limited and social distancing outdoors. Had hamburger and scrumptious steak sandwich with fingerling fries. Very tasty. Market has fresh meat, goat cheese and produce in season. A little pricey but definitely healthy and supports local ranchers and farmers. read more

I'm giving this 4 stars because of the location and atmosphere. I went in August when the evening weather was perfect for outdoor seating and the view was incredible. The food, however, was just ok. I got the inside out cheese melt. My friend got the steak sandwich, though, and it was better. I'll definitely try something different next time! read more

On our recent trip to Durango this was our families favorite place we ate! The food was amazing. So fresh and delicious. The view was fantastic. Our kids had so much fun running around, playing the lawn games and petting the goats. We could have stayed there all night. Everyone there was so kind and helpful. And seriously the food was amazing. I would go there again and again!! read more

Yelp location was wrong. But the food is s Astonishing! Farm to table and cooked perfectly. read more

we ate here 3x during our week-long stay. beautiful views and goats for feeding. daily food specials and the fries are amazing - we got them every time. Also, what's unique is the crispy grilled cheese on the sandwiches. A bit pricey but we expected paying more for better quality, locally-sourced ingredients. read more

You'll never taste a better burger. They are so juicy they melt in your mouth. We traveled miles out of the way just to eat one of these marvelous tasty burgers. So fresh and the place smells so good. read more

The positive is it's a very pretty location and ranch. Not sure what the hype is about the food but very dry hot dog with onion and relish and bacon burger was just ok. We had 2 teas, burger and dawg for almost $30. read more

We were looking for a dog friendly place to eat around Durango and this has to be the best dog friendly place in the area, hands down! The views are great! The picnic tables look over a pasture of cattle and then the mountains are straight in front of you. Now while we were there the wind did pick up and it got a little chilly. No worries, they have a tent area set up with tables. We however didn't go inside because dogs are not aloud in that area. But if it is a cold day still go because they have a warm area where you can eat. Now onto the incredible food. The burgers were amazing. They were the perfect combination of fat and lean meat. The bacon was so good, you can tell a major difference in the taste then something you would buy at the store. The cheese is also made on the farm and is phenomenal. I also had the chili which had huge chunks of beef and three different beans. It did have a little too much cumin, but that's just me being picky. The side of the day with the burgers was roasted potatoes with thyme and rosemary. I could have just ate a basket of those and would have been fine. They also have a small market where you can purchase the beef, pork, and cheese that they make on the farm. Over all it's just a great experience. When we are in the area again we will defiantly be going back. read more

I read about this place in a magazine prior to our visit to the Durango area and knew we had to stop in for dinner! It certainly didn't disappoint - the burgers were fresh, flavorful and downright amazing...what do you expect from farm-to-table though! The staff was so welcoming and sincerely glad to have us as guests. The view from our picnic table was perfect and we even got to pet the goats on the farm. Such a great experience! read more

GO HERE - awesome burgers, BLTs, great setting on a little farm. Prices are similar to what we pay on LA for top quality - $12 for a burger (comes with a great side of slaw), $9.50 for BLT sandwich on focaccia bread. Worth every penny. read more

My sister in law and their family live in Durango, CO......so we went to the Purgatory outdoor recreation park and ski lodge. Afterwards on the way back to Durango, we stopped at James Ranch Harvest Grill. All I can say is WOWZA! All the beef, vegetables, and cheeses are locally grown and crafted right at the ranch. The food was magnificent and the outdoor eating area has an exquisitely relaxing view of Mother Nature in the mountains.....natural vistas at their best! Please......if your in this area ever.....do yourself and your family and friends a HUGE Favor and don't miss eating at this place! read more

Mt wife and I love to eat here. The food us always very good, and the staff is always very friendly. I recomend this place to everyone.

The best tasting burgers anywhere near Durango (and really beyond too). 100% grass fed beef, Belford cheese, the freshest buns...it's a meal eating one of these burgers. So glad it is literally 4 minutes from me. And in the fall/winter some of the best chili you will ever have and the Mountain Monte Cristo sandwich is a must have too. read more

Awesome burgers and sandwiches and they have a market on-site where we bought their cheese, eggs and veggies. Really nice spot, will definitely be back next year! read more

Very scenic place. Perfect for kids to explore the farm animals and run in the grass. Burgers were excellent, I would rate this the third best burger I've had in my life - but who's keeping track! I went with the signature burger with the added egg, no condiments, very high quality meat and ingredients. read more

Fantastically moist burger. Buns are amazing, too. I've been here twice and the food does not disappoint. Also check out the little market because they have delicious cheeses, ice cream, eggs and beef. Loved the hen and her chicks and the beautiful view of the cows in the valley. read more

If you ever find yourself anywhere near Harvest Grill, do yourself a favor and stop by. The view is beautiful and the food is delicious. Best hamburger I have ever had. I love the fresh egg and bacon on top! Tasty gluten-free buns and everything is local and amazing. My favorite scenery to view while sitting and eating. Great for kids to play in the grass while waiting for food too! My favorite place in Durango. read more

Words are insufficient to describe how wonderful our experience here was. Both the food and the ambience were absolutely out of this world and clearly reflect the care and attention the owners put into their craft, their farmland and their home. We really felt that "love" in every aspect of the experience. The burgers were phenomenal as was the service - we must have stayed two or three hours just soaking in the views, watching the cheese-makers in action and conversing with the whole crew there. Will 100% be back again next time we're near Durango! read more

I have not found a better burger in Durango. It can't get any fresher! It's grown right there on the farm where you eat it!! Fantastic

Delicious food, beautiful setting, wonderful distractions for your kiddos (feeding the goats, looking at the chickens, outdoor games)... We enjoyed Harvest Grill so much we came back two days in a row. I highly recommend the inside out melt and signature burger with the carrot and kale salad. read more

10/10 burgers, steak sandwich, & steak salad! I literally can never choose among the menu items, because they all are amazing/delicious choices. This place is a must when I come to Durango. It is expensive but so worth it. I have to take a to-go home as well! F.Y.I. Sometimes I buy the steak salad if I want to be a little healthier (although you can't feel too guilty since their meat/produce are organic) and I've notice how amazing my skin looked after I ate lol. When I get the burger I always take one bun off to cut major carbs. Most places I order protein style but they're bread is 10/10 I let myself eat one side at least. I have to add that they sell produce and meat in their nearby market. The ice cream is a great option. Also I tried one of their peaches and OMG. They are the epitome of ORGANIC PRODUCE. Literally the best peach/organic fruit I've ever eaten! I'm in awe of this place. 10/10 I think I've said enough, but they're service is the most friendly and amazing, so I'll stop here! 10/10 read more

A must! I come to Durango at least twice a year. My family and I make it a point to come here. Amazing food and amazing scenery. The burgers are really good but what is insane here are the grilled cheese sandwiches. Add bacon, onions, and green chile if they have it. With the homemade jam on the side to dip it in, their farm fresh cheese and bread make an masking combo. Seriously, come to this place. Not Far out of town and an amazing stop!! read more

This is the best farm to table place I have ever been. My friend and I were driving through Durango on a road trip, and we are so glad we made the detour off of our route for this place! Everything served and in their market was straight from the farm. The food was delicious and is very accommodating to dietary needs/desires. There was a relaxed feel with the surrounding farm, river, and picnic tables with outdoor games surrounding it all. read more
