Absolutely beautiful and delicious! I would drive again just to stop here. Great outdoor space and cute little goats to visit with.

Was here for a little get away, the location is just spectacular the view was breathtaking and the outside seating was just perfect, Found the best snacks and gluten free loaf of bread in the little shop located in the restaurant. Will definitely be back! Service was excellent! read more

Heaven on earth! Beautiful grounds, darling store, and good food. I will make this a regular place to stop and enjoy when we are on road trips through Colorado. A must see! read more

We love this place and it's a must to visit when we are in the Durango area! The food is delicious and wholesome, the atmosphere is relaxed, views gorgeous, and the petting zoo is a hit with our kids. We also enjoy visiting the market and appreciate the food and curiosities for sale there. It's such a jewel! read more

Adorable farm to table eatery with excellent food! We loved the scenic overlook near the picnic tables and enjoyed eating outside with our dog. The menu has a great beer selection and we were pleased with the IPAs. We ordered at the counter and then quickly got notified when our food was ready. Burgers were perfectly cooked to medium and had a plethora of toppings. We did their special jalapeño popper burger and found it to be so flavorful! Afterward, we got some fresh meat and cheese from the market. This business has an amazing mission and you can taste the passion in their food. read more

Absolutely delicious, all fresh and homegrown and the staff are kind people! It's all family owned and you can tell. Highly recommend...

Great burgers. Order at the counter and then table service. Everything was very good, but the burgers were the star. Hubs got a steak sandwich but said the burgers was superior. The only things that was not our fave was the fries, which are more like steak fries. This will be your personal preference. Next time, I'd ask for mine crispy or opt for a soup or chili. Homemade sodas are so good. $200 for a family of 8 to eat (only 4 hot drinks). read more

Beautiful location, great menu. You can sit inside, but we opted for outside so the kids could basically run wild. This was everyone's plan as well apparently because there were tons of kids running everywhere. The ordering process is really easy, I liked the setup, it was easy to do unlike some other experiences we had in town during our stay. The food was not what I expected at all. There were lots of kale/beet/salad options, not just burgers are fries! Everything was really good. The fries were super home made. Loved. The store on the property is cute with some good stuff, but all you need to know about is the salted honey caramels. They will change your life. Especially the lavender. read more

The best burgers we have ever had! The concept is so cool. We wandered the property while we waited for our food. I'll be dreaming of the blue cheese burger until we come again! Thank you read more

Absolutely the best hamburgers in the Durango area. Stunning views from the terrace , so refreshing and relaxing! You can also enjoy some great products from the onsite store to enjoy at home . Completely worth a drive from town . read more

James Ranch is a terrific stop if you're in the Durango area. The grounds are beautiful to walk around, and it's exciting for the kids to get to see the animals. One of the days we were there they even had some goats near the restaurant in a small pen for the kids to iinteract with. You order your food when you arrive, and then they give you a buzzer to alert you and your food is ready to come back and pick it up. Overall it's a terrific spot. The food is good, but you have to really like hamburgers - because that's their specialty. I suggest calling ahead, because even though you can't make a reservation we have showed up and found busses and large groups of tours which cause significant delays in our ability to either order or receive our food. It's best to ask them which days they have groups coming in so you could avoid that. read more

We were pointed to this farm and grill by a Durango olive oil company employee. She wasn't kidding when she said the burgers are incredible! You can really taste how fresh the meat is!!! One of the best burgers I've ever had. I'm also super happy that their homemade buns never get soggy or fall apart. My husband and I enjoyed our burgers and crispy fries on the back porch in the perfect weather read more

James's ranch turned out to be the best food we had all week in Durango. Check out the outdoor area and the great views from there back patio and garden. I highly recommend the steak sandwich. Good luck! read more

Want to eat farm-to-table food alfresco surrounded by the animals you are consuming? This is the place. Stopped here for dinner a few nights ago with a dozen friends. We had to spread out across two tables, but no problemo. We managed to snag two tables under the ramada in case it rained again while we were there. As shown in the menu photo below your choices are burgers, dogs and salads, but oh they are wonderful. The choices include a veggie burger so good, two of the vegetarians in our group had to order a second. Expect a line at prime time - we waited around 10 minutes to order. It's kind of "fast casual" where you get a number and they bring the food to your table. It took a while as we were there at the peak, around 30 minutes for our food to arrive, but it was worth waiting for. The beef is grass-fed and cooked to perfection. The cheese is made from on-premise cows. The tomato tasted like homegrown, not a hothouse piece of cardboard. I had a daily special, a green chile pico burger. Just enough avocado and pico de gallo for flavor, but it didn't overwhelm the patty. One gripe: they were out of the gluten-free buns when we were there. If you want what they have on their narrow menu, you won't find better food for 100 miles. read more

Absolutely love this place and have loved it since 2013, before the restaurant was built when orders used to be taken out of the small wooden trailer. After three years I was finally able to travel back and had to stop by again. Food is amazing as it has always been, the quality is so fresh and that goes for everything sold in the market as well. Almost put 4 stars because some of the staff was definitely not as friendly as I remember and seemed kinda moody/annoyed, was slightly disappointed to be excited to be back for the first time in years and remembering a certain quality of service. However it was a busy weekend to no surprise and everybody has their off days, I will not let one off visit put a damper over the many perfect ones I've had here over the years. The food and beautiful views make up for all of it and our visit was still great. I came here for the first time when I was 12 years old, I'm 24 now and this is still one of my favorite places to go when I'm in town. Will be back next time! read more

DELICIOUS and healthy food! If you care at all about where your food comes from then you are in for a treat at James Ranch Grill. Best burgers in Durango. In fact, probably the best burger I've had anywhere! I love knowing that the burger is 100% grass fed and local. And, if you don't eat meat they have options for you too. (Gluten free options too) Summer time can be busy - but you can order ahead online. Every time I visit Durango I make a point to eat at James Ranch - there is nothing like this where I live. Thank you James Ranch for existing and offering top quality food !!! read more

Fantastic burgers. You can taste the caliber of high quality meat the moment you bite into your burger. The patty was juicy and tender. The fingerling potatoes were very good too. A little break from the normal French fry. The dining area both inside and outside were very nice. We initially sat outside on the picnic tables but the wind picked up and we didn't want dirt as a topping on our burgers. Loved seeing the goat and cows nearby. Great place to check out if you're near the area. read more

This place was highly recommended by a friend. It is a self serve place and it's very expensive. They said they cook their burgers pink throughout. Pink is fine...raw "Red" ground beef is not. It's over $15 for a burger that doesn't even include a side. In addition, we asked for some extra sauce and after spending $60 for 2 beers, 2 burgers, and 1 fry...they wanted to charge me for some more sauce. Way over priced especially when you have to order and do a pick up window. SO...,Disappointed. Never again!!!! To add to this...Cynthia made things right with our disappointment and we appreciate that. That's good customer service. read more

food was ok nothing special not worth it for the price.pretty much a tourist trap and not worth going out of the way

My group was made to move to accommodate another group . The food is always good, but be prepared for a long wait

Everything about this location was excellent except the BBQ Burger. I asked for medium and it tasted well done, so dry. It definitely needed the BBQ sauce to get it down. They need to add pork for more fat in the burger so it is more juicy or just a less lean meat like 85%. This was definitely not worth almost $20. What was excellent was the ambiance, outdoor seating with live music in the yard of the ranch with pine trees nicely spaced around and the picnic tables were spread apart well for privacy and pandemic precautions. read more

Great atmosphere with wonderful food. Enjoyed the outdoor seating. I love having goat cheese as an option for my burger.

First - this pains me to write this. We visited James ranch twice during our week in Durango. First visit - fantastic. I would have told people people this was one of the best burgers I've ever had! Second visit on a Monday. Drink girl seems grumpy and frustrated for fixing your drinks. Bothers by asking for a lid. They said burgers are cooked to pink - our table of 10 all had way over cooked burgers and burned fries. It was just ok at best. All that to say, I think they just had an off night. Bummed because if the price we spent for our meal, we had hoped for better. read more

We enjoyed this family run restaurant!!! We ordered at a window and did have to wait long for our food. The kids were entertained by feeding the goats and they were encouraged to feed them local weeds. The burgers were cooked perfectly, delicious, and there was a gluten free bun for my son! We also enjoyed the vegetables we bought from the market. We will definitely be back! read more

It is as awesome now as it has ever been. Went back for the 1st time in a few years, they have expanded and built up a good bit but they are still able to maintain that great quality and service. Burger was one of the best I've ever had and they produce a lot of the ingredients at the ranch. Chill picnic vibe with spread out tables and a lot of space to explore and for kids to roam. read more

A beautiful space with a small farm and wonderful food. While the burgers are cooked to order but not exactly as requested (rare definitely comes as medium), the food is still absolutely fabulous. Plus, they have local wines and beers, all of which are delicious. There is indoor and outdoor seating, goats to pet, and housemade gluten free buns. What more could a girl ask for? Nothing. Ordering to delivery was 15 minutes. Error in delivery corrected in 3 minutes after first delivery. Meat was tender, veggies were fresh, and all were happy. Highly recommended. read more

Heard great things and it was a very good experience. Tuesday night and there was a pretty long line but it moved fast. Able to find a table in the shade and had a nice dinner with the family. Live music was a nice touch. Food was very good - had hamburgers, grilled cheese, fries and chips. Pretty expensive for what you get but the quality was definitely there. Recommend the bbq, bacon, blue cheese burger. One of the best meals we had while on vacation in Durango. read more

We were on vacation last week in Durango and decided to try this place based on them being organic grass fed food. This place did not disappoint! The burgers were amazing! Mouthwatering flavor!! The potatoes/fries were so different but so yummy! And their tractor sodas were delicious! Also I tried their root beer float and it was hands down the best float I've ever had. I brought a couple pints of the ice cream that they used home with me! Also posting a good review in the ice cream company :) Basically, if you're in Durango, make sure to stop here!! Also the view while you're eating is breathtaking mountains and gorgeous land! What an awesome hidden gem! Thank you also for the excellent customer service! When we go back, I'm eating here like every night! :) read more
