Our smiling server, Blanca was amazing, answering our questions about this truly badass menu. While it was breakfast time, my eyes wandered to the lunch and dinner items which look quite tempting. I ordered several items to be able to sample a few creations as well as my husband's breakfast combo plate (hash browns, sausage, scrambled eggs and a biscuit) The Big, Beautiful Belgian Waffle- is as light and just wonderffle!!! I sampled the biscuit with gravy which was peppery and light and this one out-biscuits my prior experiences elsewhere. Two eggs with hash browns and an orange rounded out my treats. If anyone saw the table with 4 big plates they would report me for overdoing breakfast. I loved every bite of what I tried. While we were there a little boy was celebrated for his birthday. The staff sang and posed for photos with Oliver. He was pretty thrilled! If you are cruising down Tehachapi Boulevard, pull on in to Village Grill. You will love the warmth as much as the delicious foods!!

They enjoy eating here and usually have no problem. It took a good 20 minutes before our server took our drink order, and even longer to take our dinner order. We all three ordered because I changed my mind and decided I wanted a club sandwich, I also ordered a salad and so did my friend. We never got them until our meal arrived, and even then one was forgotten. When one of my friends received her order it was the wrong one. She ordered a chicken sandwich, not a burger. The burger that did come was burnt; luckily that is not what she ordered. We had to ask for refills as our server was walking by. She never once came to our table to see if we were doing OK. My friend said this was definitely an off night for this place. 12/23/25

Taking in all the special vintage items kept us occupied. I wished we could partake of the amazing looking pies they sell but, alas, we were not only satisfied but hoping to see more sights. We love Tehachapi and Tonya, with her wonderful personality will be a fond menory of this trip. My husband, who draws pictures, handed her some wee sketches and she was so gracious. Our server was a gentleman and he was so kind to us, especially with our kids. The chips were warm and the salsa had the perfect level of spice. My husband ordered chile Colorado, the pork was so tender and the sauce was delicious. I ordered the steak fajitas, honestly the best I have had in a long time. I recommend ordering the pot beans, instead of refried. They are made fresh, with strips of bacon on them. The rice was tasty and fluffy. I also wanted to mention that we really enjoyed the Albondigas soup. The Albondigas were very tender and well seasoned. The ambiance was so relaxing and a very nice environment a enjoy a dinner with our kids. Our kids loved the quarter machines up front, gave them something to do while we waited for our food. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious We will be back soon!

The Chile Verde has shrunk in both size flavor and increased in price. It is simply not the same it is too mild; if you want it more spicy they have an up charge, which is nuts. The tacos were extra greasy and the enchilada sauce was bland. Even the two salsas are literally like nearly tasteless. According to the waiter, the owners like it watered down because they think the community doesn't appreciate spicy foods. This is insane. Tonight, I thought things couldn't get worse, but of course I was wrong as another server, not the waiter brought the meals and literally knocked a full glass of water across the table, soaking me and my partner. Other than bring us extra napkins there was no other comps. The place seemed slower than normal for a Saturday night, so maybe the town is noticing the same thing we are. The bathrooms are disgusting. I hope they fix this stuff because it has really given us pause about even coming back.

The purple slaw had the perfect acidity to cleans the palate after bites of brisket. A side of Buffalo Cauliflower was a tasty warm up. If I love your welcoming outlook, attractive establishment, and your services I will happily praise you. Well, tonight was a five star time at Midori. Tonight we landed in Tehachapi for a restful 3 day stay. As senior foodie citizens, early dinner at Midori looked like a fine idea. This beautiful restaurant is very convenient to our hotel. We were greeted by the owner who obviously has years of experience in her field based on the beauty of the cuisine and the flow of regular customers she greeted while we were there. The menu is amazing! Tempting sushi, Korean favorites- choices are many. My husband ordered a Bulgogi dinner bowl which was very good. It arrived at the table very quickly. I tasted his meal and was happy because he can be a tough one to please. I thought I would just have a small dinner, but being an explorer, I wanted to sample two special rolls. The "Tehachapi Morning" and the "Sunrise" were gone in a flash as these are easily the best sushi I have ever had. We both agreed on the fantastic sushi rolls- excellent! Delicate slices of lemon (sun analogy) atop the Sunrise roll make this my new favorite anything! The flying fish roe/caviar, tobiko, (versus sturgeon caviar) is refreshing on Tehachapi Morning. It gives a very delicate and classy appearance to an already beautiful creation. My small dinner, plus a small and hot saki became a memorable disappearing act, but no longer small! The sushi chef was great! I love that in such a lovely inland region we can be shown an elegant service by an obviously talented front and back staff. I hope you will stop in while you are in the area and be as pleased and comforted by this high quality experience as were we!
