I hate to give bad reviews but this really took went for the gold of awful. I will never be back to this "Burger Spot" First the order was wrong, asked for no onion lettuce or tomatoes but got it anyways. Meat was super salty and over cooked. I've never had meat that tastes like this did. Then the lettuce was bright yellow. To be honest the best thing on the burger was the purple onion, and I HATE onion. Milk shake was super watery and bland. It taste like when someone tried to make a milk shake at home for the first time and blends ice cubes and milk with no sugar and thinks it's the same. It's not.... I literally took 3 drinks and thew the rest in the trash. The last photo is of what I threw away. I hate throwing away food but I couldn't bear to eat this stuff it was that bad. I had no idea how this place has any good reviews at all. This was hands down the worst meal I've had so far in life. Please save your money and stomach. Go to a gas station and you'll find better tasting food! Walking up I thought "hey this place seems a little rough around the edges they probably have great food!" As most small places that look like this do. I saw the water damaged windows, clacks in the walls and had hoped to find a jem but in fact found a turn. Not even a polled gold one just rotten and disgusting. The restroom was disgustingly filthy, had black marks all over it, I had to pee and ended up using my own hand sanitizer when I left because I didn't even want to touch the sink. There was black all over the sink, toilet was stained, all the devices covered in black marks. I'll never come back and warn you to do the same. I'm really sad to write this but I need to be honest. I hope they get some things fixed and learn how to treat customers one day. read more

Classic old school joint feel with super friendly Staff and great food. The place is old & showing it's age, but the food is delicious. My wife & I split a combo Angus Burger, the young lady was nice enough to cut in half and put a tomato on the side. (I hate them, wife loves them). The Burger was grilled just right and the bun stayed together even with being stuffed with fixins. The crinkle fries were crispy, but not over done. We love a good crinkle fry and these were great. I ordered fried mushrooms and they were perfect, been a long time since I got a great mushroom. Not to.much breading and the mushrooms were just right. We came back after walking around town and grabbed a Shake. Nice & thick, a great shake. Definitely the spot !!! read more

We came here to eat lunch before a movie, I have been wanting to try this place out since I moved to Tehachapi. I still want to come back to try out the ostrich burger! We all got hamburgers except me, I got the grilled chicken sandwich and it didn't disappoint. There was one girl working the counter but she was friendly and got our orders out pretty quick. The restaurant is a little burger place with a couple of games for the kids and some tables. It's a nice place to stop if you have a craving for a yummy burger and fries and a shake. read more

This is the fourth time I've eaten here and the first two times were good, they got the order perfect. I tip in the jar 20%+. The last two times I have asked for a burger with no cheese and got cheese both times. A younger girl with piercings took my order the last two times, I understand she is not making the food but something was lost in the translation to the cook. I'll live with it but I'm just not a cheese fan on a burger. Also the amount of salt on the burger was unbelievable. Choked it down last time as it was borderline too much salt, this time I took a few bites and threw it out. Also the place was empty when I arrived and my order was called out and I had to pick it up at the counter this time. We love this place. We eat often here. The Burger Spot has been a local fixture since 1969 when Mark first moved to Tehachapi that he remembers. I wasn't even born yet. Had to come try this local spot in Tehachapi because of the Ostrich burger. From the looks of it this seems like it could be the local hang spot for teenagers. (That's just my opinion). Service was pleasant. Mousa was very attentive, whatever we needed he supplied. He even graciously cut my burger after I forgot to ask when I ordered. The restaurant is small and cozy with lots of nostalgia in it. They have Ms. PAC and Galaga, old school video games. I had a blast playing Ms. PAC. The food was decent, my husband enjoyed his ostrich burger and I particularly love crinkle cut fries. Nice little place to have an easy going meal while on vacation. read more

I've been wanting to go here for a while and since the Wife and I were in town from Bear Valley we thought we would give it a try. I highly recommend coming here if you're craving some burgers, fries, and other foods. We got two burgers, chili cheese fries, and the fried mushrooms. Oh the food was very good and the service was great. You just walk up to the window to a happy and cheerful girl ready to take your order. She was very nice and helpful with all of our burger needs. The root beer I got was very delicious also. It was busy when we showed up for lunch and I can see why. The ambiance is a classic burger spot with booths to sit in with some games to play if you want. Lots of parking is available also. Great location with great food. Well this average looking place was a nice surprise! The fish sandwich and Pastrami burgers were divine. Krinkle Cut fries are awesome.

Ordered a BLT and got served a pastrami lettuce and tomato sandwich 30 minutes later. The pastrami had been purposely overcooked and salted to be disguised as bacon. Was a salty mess and inedible. Disgraceful that an employee would try to cheat you and pass that off as a BLT rather than just say "sorry we don't have bacon". Absolutely gross, don't recommend. read more

I ordered two double cheeseburgers the price on the menu says $8.49 but I was charged an extra $1 per hamburger. I asked what the additional cost was for & was told since they were double cheeseburgers there's an extra fee because they need to use more cheese. I don't mind paying $9.49 for a burger but if that's what I'm being charged then that should be the price listed on the menu not $8.49. read more

Best veggie burger and fries I've had in ages! The burger was a garden burger patty which I really appreciate now that everyone is using the gross impossible meat. Very good basic burger place with decent prices for substantial burgers. We each got classic burger combos with burger, fries, and fountain drinks for $8.99 each. The burger was filling and had very good flavor. it did ~not~ taste like a typical fast food chain burger. I had a moment of nostalgia for when all burgers were this good and tasty. (Alas, such is not the case, usually.) As always, tonight's review has us traveling with a stop here in Tehachapi. Reviews seemed mixed but leaning towards decent food so we placed a phone order. Ortega burger combo and a pastrami sandwich combo. The Ortega burger was good according to my partner. She said the chili actually had a decent heat to it. The fries were ok, frozen crinkle fries. The pastrami sandwich was a big let down. Very small portion by other restaurant standards. Maybe it was because it was night time but the pastrami was overcooked, obviously been sitting most of the day, drying out and just not very good. I get keeping food warm and ready to serve a crowd. But there comes a point in which you toss the dried out meat away to keep customers happy with relatively moist pastrami. I hope that if we return and try it again, we will do do earlier in the day and I will review them again. read more

An old establishment in an old town bringing that old fashioned feel. That is what the Burger Spot is all about. Its a small place. A handful of small boothes, a table, and a small bar. Not a whole lot of room to stand and order. There is oldies music playing for that extra atmosphere. I love it. My fam came here for lunch to checl it out. We ordered a double cheese burger combo, pastrami burger combo, and a jr. burger. $25 and change. Prices are a little high but the food was good. I had the pastrami burger. Good sized and well portioned. Nice pastrami crisped up on the griddle before being placed atop the burget. Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and cheese rounded it out. It was an enjoyable burger but a bit salty. Even for a pastrami burger. The fries with the combos were good too. Crinkle cut and dusted with seasoned salt. I would have prefered them a little less cooked but I still ate them. We were all full when we finished our lunches. We thought about dessert but decided there was no room. Just like there isn't much room at the boothes here for us bigger guys. The benches are too close to the table and the table has a leg on the outside edge. Makes things uncomfortable. That is my one primary issue here. But that my problem and one I have run into elsewhere many times before. Its just the way I'm built. Anyhow, enough about me. This is a nice small local burger spot in Tehachapi. I had to come up here to do some work on a property and needed a quick lunch spot. I did not want to go to a run of the mill fast food joint and wanted to support a local business. After a quick Yelp search (of course) I found the Burger Spot. I decided on the Pastrami Burger Combo, comes with fries and a drink (I subbed onion rings for the fries). Although after the fact I noticed they had Ostrich burgers and wish I would have tried one just to see what it tasted like. They give you a lot of food here and the burger is a good size. My pastrami burger was very good, a lot of flavor with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions. Very good choice. The onion rings were very tasty, although a little over done, but not too bad, still really good. They also have free refills and serve Pepsi products, the ice they have is slush ice, my favorite kind of ice in a soda, so bonus. If you are up in the area, check out the Burger Spot, you can also walk around the little downtown area that has some cool shops and a rail station, classic small town America vibe, I love it.
