Working in Tehachapi and stopped by this restaurant for the first time. The woman who took my order was pleasant and I received my order promptly. I ordered a pastrami sandwich for $15. Unfortunately this may have been the worst pastrami sandwich I've ever had. The meat didn't seem fresh and had literally zero flavor. The only saving grace was the mustard and pickles. Don't know if I caught them on an off day but for the price I would expect fresher and tastier pastrami. read more

I called this morning and asked their hours because it's Easter, and I was told "5 pm if we have business, 3 pm if we don't". How do you mess up a salad? Put dried out meat the texture of jerky on it. Cook claimed he didn't notice that the turkey was so old it looked like jerky. Guy running the counter was fine offered to have salad remade or refunded. Replaced salad with a B.L.T. So much salt on the fries they were inedible. Bathroom was filthy. The wife and I thought we should try some where new to eat, big mistake. We walked into the restaurant and the place was completely empty. The server looked like she was having her lunch break in one of the booths. She had to get up during her break to take our order. My wife ordered the mushroom burger with fries and I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast plate. The burger was really thin and tasted weird. The chicken fried steak seemed like it was just fried crunchy batter with no meat at all. The hash browns were way undercooked and the ice tea had a bad metallic flavor to it. The Ambiance was nice but there were quite a few tables that had left over plates from customers still left on them. All the tables were dirty, we had to wipe down the one we chose to eat at. All in all, the place seemed nice but the food was not enjoyable at all. My stomach and toilet hated me a short time later after eating there. Go at your own risk. read more

AWESOME! This is the place that fell off my radar, unglamorous but Big in mouth-watering food. I'm in town briefly, It was open on New Year's Eve which I am grateful for. They offer comfort food at an affordable price that doesn't break the bank a crowd pleaser I adore a delicious spicy Pastrami! especially American Jewish hot pastrami. Got two breakfast burritos with avocado added. One with chorizo added, the other in a box with gravy. I repeated the order and she read it back. Still came wrong We also ordered the sampler. It's supposed to have onion rings, fried mushrooms, and fried zucchini. It looks horrible and tastes just as bad. I think this is the final straw with Primo's. They dont make good food read more

I posted this review on Google and I'm reposting it here. I've been a customer of this Primo's for almost 15 years. Every Saturday, like clockwork, I call and order a sausage breakfast burrito to go. I get there ten minutes later, and they usually have it ready, or maybe a short wait. It's never a problem. The counter staff has always been incredibly nice to me, and we often chat and joke while I pay for my food. Today I ordered over the phone my burrito to go, came in a few minutes later, paid for my food and stood to one side to wait for it to be finished, about 5 feet back from the PICK UP window on the left. The place was empty except for a few people at one booth. I'm standing by the menus on the wall, reading them, and the cook steps to the window and gruffly asks, "What are you doing there?" He was someone I'd not seen there before. I usually recognize the cooks. I said, "Just waiting for my food." "Well, you need to go sit down." "I'm getting the order to go, so I figure it's easier just to wait near the window. It's no problem." "No, you HAVE to sit down." he actually points to the booths like a school teacher. "I'd just like to stand, I sit a lot all day." I replied, keeping my tone calm. "I'm telling you to SIT OVER THERE!" he says. "What's the problem? I always stand when I'm about to get my order, there's never been an issue. This is the Pick Up window. I ordered my food To Go." Well, he told me to leave and he made the counter lady, who looked ashamed, give me a refund. I said, "I'm going to speak to the owner about this. I've been a good customer for almost 15 years." He smirked and said something that sounded like, "Yeah, good luck with that." If the owner of Tehachapi Primo's reads this, know that as a town local, I've been enjoying your burritos and sometimes onion rings on an almost weekly basis since 2008. Your staff has ALWAYS been fun, friendly, and good at their jobs. I have no idea what this cook's problem was, and I tried repeatedly to ask him why he was throwing me out. He refused to answer and just smirked at me. I have never said this before, but he needs to be fired. He's losing you customers, such as this one. I got the steak dinner. It was disgusting. The steak was thin, about a quarter of an inch thick, gray without any grill marks and mostly fat. I took 3 bites and then gave it to my dog who will eat anything. The dinner came with greasy French fries, fried zucchini spears and French-fried onion rings. Service was okay. No ambiance. I'm a Burger guy and I had heard a lot of good things about Primos. My wife and I decided to give it a try. The restaurant was empty, service was good it's a great atmosphere depending on your likes. We ordered a couple burgers. The restaurant was so cold by the time our burgers got to the table they were already cooling down. I got Steak fries with my order and they were great my wife got the onion rings super crunchy my wife liked them and I thought they were pretty tasty as well . Back to the burger... thin patty not great flavor thankfully I got bacon on mine so that helped. Over all I liked the restaurant and the service and the sides were good but the burger is not worth the price. IMO read more

The place is very old, very dark and very dirty. It is, what we used to call, a greasy spoon, type of eating establishment. You order at the counter and they deliver it to your table but the table are sticky and the banquets are torn and wobbly. The food is terrible. Greasy, tasteless, and mine was not exactly what was stated in the menu. To top it all off, the place is expensive! $10 for a tuna melt and frozen fries. Don't go unless this is the type of place you want to experience. read more

I ordered onion rings to go... order was ready when I got there and was, which I was glad about. The taste.... eh. I use to LOVE their onion rings. But they didn't really impress me this time. Average hole in the wall place with a diner-like menu. The prices are certainly a "Cheap Eats" level. The value is good, but the fries are charged separately on the sandwiches. Breakfast is served all day and the burgers are about average these days. Maybe they are #1 in this small town. Don't order the salads, they are simply an afterthought in this establishment. The service is friendly, but the staff won't bring you food to you if you are sitting downstairs. I should not have tipped them when ordering. read more

I love Primos. The wait is sometimes long but usually worth it. I LOVE THE SAMPLER!!!! They have good ranch always a plus!!! Bathrooms could be cleaner and sometimes I wonder if the drink station gets taken apart . I thi no k it would be difficult to find something on the menu that isn't yummy. We have so many favorites!! Only concerning part I struggle with the is when I see the cooks touching things like their phones and than cooking food. Lady that took our order was the same person as our waitress. Ordered the pancake and egg special (comes with sausage and bacon). Asked for based eggs and got them fried. The hash browns, bacon and sausage were perfectly made and the right amount of seasoning. The pancakes flavor was good however the texture felt too moist, wasn't undercooked but they added something that didn't go with the pancakes. Would not order pancakes again unless recipe changed. Service could have been better as we were only checked on once. I also ordered the pastrami french fries, first bite I didn't like, second bite I got pastrami, chili cheese and fries all together. That dish wasn't seasoned well enough and chili was watery. The fries were soaked in chili sauce unfortunately. I give this zero out of five. I always try to give places the benefit of the doubt but if you're going to have breakfast it won't be best in this little town. read more

I am very disappointed in my experience today. I went to Primo burgers And I ordered almost $100 worth of food. When I got home I realized that they had screwed up 5 of my Combos. At first I was just going to suck it up and feed my family food I knew they didn't want. Then when my son bit into his burger he pulled out a red hair. My daughter also found a red hair in her burrito. When I respectfully called back and told the manager of their mistake Christina was very very rude. You would think a manager would want to fix this mistake, but not Christina. She was the rudest person I've ever encountered in that restaurant. She decided to raise her voice and even hung up on me when I asked if she was going to fix my combos. I used to be a regular here, I'd spend $100-$150 every single week. Ordered 2 cheeseburgers on monday ask for them to medium rare they said no problem. Got them back to the house the burgers looked liked they were cooked the day before well done and the lettuce and tomatoe and onion did not look or taste fresh. Disappointing to say the least.. Will not be back. Also we had to heat the burgers up in the microwave as they were just barely warm. read more

Heard this place has awesome breakfast burritos, so i had to try it!!! With weather being windy and only 57f degrees I see why this place serves breakfast all day. . I had the combo breakfast burrito (ham, bacon, sausage), topped it with the mild red salsa mixed with the hot green salsa and washed it down with a caramel iced coffee (should have ordered a hot coffee)!
