I was craving Mexican food for lunch and Buelnas hit the spot! I was visiting family in Tehachapi and really wanted some yummy tex-mex style Mexican food and was so happy that I found it. The beans were the perfect consistency and had so much flavor. Even the rice tastes yummy! The enchiladas have the right amount of sauce and were just what I was wanting. My cousin got a pastor burrito and says it was super delicious. I thought it was nice that they also will serve it with sauce or "wet" if you like. The service was excellent and friendly. The ambiance is a simple vintage style mexican restaurant with booth seating and local art for sale on the walls. We were also given warm, flavorful chips w/salsa before our meal started. Stopped by here after a long hike. Found this restaurant and the fusion of Mexican and Persian food piqued our interest. Ended up with the Mexican side of the menu. Also had some micheladas to go with our dish. The service, the chips and salsa, and the serving size were good. The taste was okay. Nothing too exceptional that would actually make me go back, unfortunately. Maybe if we chose the Persian side of the menu it would've been different. So I guess, that still deserves a return trip. read more

Needed dinner and we decided on Mexican food. Chips were fresh and crisp, waitress was friendly but a little preoccupied with another customer/friend - our food came out warm not hot, I think the man in the back finished cooking and didn't tell her, and she didn't check. Bummer. Food tasted not exactly greasy but like vegetable oil. After that the flavor was fine but nothing memorable. This little spot is a gem. It's not fancy, very low key and old fashioned like an old school diner. Jonathon, the person who has served us twice, is very accommodating and helpful. Had a bad experience with Buelna's Grill. The order was almost an hour until delivery after being told it would take 27-30 minutes. The quesadilla was soggy, the tortilla was burnt, and the chicken was so salty we couldn't eat it. The tacos looked like the chicken was squeezed out of a tube and they were also too salty. All the food went in the trash. The whip cream on the dessert had melted and curdled in the caramel sauce which ruined the dessert. We won't eat at this place again. read more

A surprising find! The kabobs are fantastic. Located next to a defunct cinema, it's easy to miss this unassuming small place. Food is reasonably priced and portions are large. The interior is a bit run down but clean. Wait staff is courteous and happy to recommend selections. Would recommend to anyone passing this area. read more

I ordered through DoorDash. I'm not impressed. Food was too salty to enjoy them. Even the serving sizes not worth $16. The rice on the Veggie Kabob was a tad undercooked. Not a good first experience. I don't think I'd order from them again nor will I recommend the place. read more

NEVER EAT HERE. I'd give them zero stars but that's not an option. I've never returned food in my life. I have been all around the world. Wanted an authentic Mexican meal in Tehachapi. I bought a bunch of food for our dinner last night. Avocado Salad: "mixed greens, avocado, tomato". It came with iceberg lettuce and topped with canned pineapple rings. Gross. Not as advertised Tortilla soup: broth, canned diced tomatoes, celery and a bit of chicken. NO SPICES OR FLAVOR AND NO TORTILLAS. Shrimp burrito: topped with cheese when I asked for none. Inside only 2 small pieces of shrimp. Inedible. I asked for no dairy and they put cheese on the side of beans. And the beans had zero seasoning. Needed spices and salt. I brought all the food back the next morning. And asked for a refund and showed him that we couldn't eat it and didn't eat any of it. I was very cordial and polite and he, the manager, ignored me from the get go. He asked if I had a receipt I said no because I paid cash and nobody offered me a receipt. He offered to make another batch of food to match it and I said no I will never eat here again your food is gross. I don't want it. He said there's nothing I can do what great customer service that is. You would think that it would be worth it to treat your customers with some sort of respect and apologetic, but no rude. read more

Don't let the name fool you it's the same Las Palmas ( former name) Yes, new owners and more expensive menu but the dining room still looks dirty and beat up. They have a new menu with higher prices and some Persian food. I decided to try it but didn't have high hopes as soon as I walked in. I ordered carnitas and also ordered beans for the chips since I can't have seeds of any kind. When they brought the carnitas it had tomatoes with visible seeds. I had to send back, who puts tomatoes in their carnitas? I then ordered 2 cheese enchiladas. When I got them they were cold and gross. The waiter was the only one working the front and all the tables so maybe it sat for awhile. The other dish we ordered was a Persian dish. Unfortunately, that was not enjoyed and was told they would never order again or probably not returning. I feel the same, so disappointed by all the Mexican places in town. Was hoping this was going to be different. Last note, the waiter does not wear a mask if that is an issue for you. read more

I found this little gem recently, and my kids and I are hooked! Jonathan has been our waiter since we have been there... we went back last night, and he "claimed" us as soon as another waitress tried to help us! lol The food is delicious from the soup and salad, all the way down to the fried ice cream (and other delicious desserts)! I'm SO happy to have delicious, authentic tasting Mexican (and Persian) cuisine in my town! It was really hard choosing between the chicken shish kebab dinner and the chicken mole dinner. I opted for the perfectly prepared shish kebab dinner and I wasn't disappointed! Delicious chicken together with grilled onions, green peppers and spicy pepper served with a white and yellow rice combination. My better half enjoyed the chicken fajita burrito that was so big it barely fit on the dinner plate! Really friendly service and remarkably reasonable prices. Good good, customer service and drink. We tried no the Mexican and the Middle Eastern dishes. Not all selections of middle eastern food was available, which was unfortunate. Had to settle for another dish which was not as flavorful as I hoped. The "beef kabob" style fish was bland, and the saffron rice was weak. On a side note, If you have ATT cell, there is no service available so, don't expect to meet people there and text them to check how soon they'll arrive. Overall, I'd try them again, but hope the restaurant menu doesn't change or X crossed off. The interior is utilitarian, meaning there is no real theme inside welcoming the guests. No background music to provide a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant was cold temperature wise. For a new restaurant to the town, first impressions are critical for survival. read more

Buelna's is a solid spot for Mexican food. They also serve Persian food, but I haven't tried it in the two times I've been there. The guac appetizer is great and they serve the chips warm with tasty salsa. The flautas appetizer is on-point. My go-to order both times has been the tostada grande with shredded beef. The hubs gets the tostada too with carnitas. The portions are huge--I took half of mine home and had it cold for breakfast the next day. It comes with the standard beans, lettuce, sour cream and guac in a fried tostada shell. The place was busy at 6 p.m. on a Friday night, but we were able to get a table right away. The ambience is hole-in-the-wall, which is fine. Definitely coming back! read more

There aren't a lot of Mexican options in Tehachapi. This place is kind of a hole in the wall, in a good way. Considering the price point, the food was great-- both quality of ingredients and preparation. It was better than a lot of places that are more expensive. Full service bar. Fresh chips & house made salsa. There wasn't anything forced, pretentious, or gimmicky. The service was friendly and not over the top. I'd recommend they use a fresh lime mix for the top shelf margaritas, but it wasn't bad as is. I'll definitely go back. read more

I was in Tehachapi on business and decided to stop in and try this place out. The first thing I noticed was such a wide variety of options on the menu. If you're in the mood for Mexican the mole looked delicious, but I decided to try out the Beef and Chicken Kabobs and I was not disappointed. The kabobs came out perfectly cooked and we're seasoned very well, I like spice so I asked for a side of sauce and the server offered me two different options and recommended the green sauce since I like extra spice. It paired so well with the food, I devoured my plate, including the charred Serrano pepper and roasted tomato.
