This was my first trying this location and tbh it isn't bad but it's not great either. The inside was not fresh, as if the ac was going out. It was so packed for being Mother's day. The wait time was horrible. The chicken was dry 7/10 but has good flavor, it is dry and doesn't come with grilled veggies. The hot sauce has good flavor but isn't spicy 6/10. The cucumber salad is refreshing 9/10. The potatoes with garlic sauce were something I haven't had but were a 8/10. The beef pita was SO DRY, HARD and didn't really have any flavor 3/10. The rice was cooked perfectly but didn't carry much flavor 6/10. The chickpeas salad was good 8/10. The side bread was shockingly delicious 10/10. I finally tried their wrap after a recent conversation with a friend where we spent 15 minutes singing Sultan's praises and comparing our regular orders. I'm glad my friend recommended their wraps so adamantly. The wraps are surprisingly affordable and astonishingly delicious (well, perhaps the deliciousness isn't that astonishing as all their food is delicious). I grabbed a beef kefta wrap and a chicken kebab bowl with hummus in case the wrap alone didn't prove filling enough, but the wrap was quite filling. I might do 2 wraps in the future with the hopes of leftovers. On my most recent visit, there was a very kind young man behind the checkout who provided amazing service. He was very attentive and took the initiative to check in with all recently placed orders and online orders. He even updated customers on the status of their order if he noticed they had been waiting a little bit. I definitely appreciated this as a customer. read more

Let me start out by saying this is my wife's favorite restaurant. My Syrian coworker also felt this is the best middle eastern food in Bakersfield. This is a small, unassuming dinner in a prime location, this place is always busy. You order your food at the counter and you eat. The servers are swamped and a little dry. Looking for a healthy meal during my business travels, I went to Sultans Mediterranean Grill since their menu looked healthy, and they were conveniently located in the same plaza as Trader Joes where I was picking up healthy snacks. When I entered, it looked promising. There was plenty of seating. This was served cafeteria style where you order and they scoop the item. I ordered the #1 Chicken Kabob Plate ($16) and swapped out the rice for All Salad ($3). For the sides I picked the hummus and eggplant. The scoops were large, but not tasty. The salad was overly dressed. The cashier was really slow and holding up the line despite everyone else being fairly efficient. It was also annoying because they wouldn't ring me up until the food was done, so I couldn't even walk around the plaza and be productive. The utensils are self-serve, so one more thing for the customer to deal with. Not sure why the staff was so slow. The box was sticky and oily on the outside from whoever handling the chicken also touched the outside of the box and didn't care to wipe it down. As for the chicken, it was dry and overcooked with burnt edges. I had to cut off so much of it to make it edible. The salad was overdressed. This is one of my favorite places for a quick lunch on a busy day. Today I ordered the falafel Shawarma and the mint lemonade. This place can be really busy and today was my lucky day, because there was no one in line. The staff are nice and the service is quick and professional. Because they make everything fresh and when you order, it can take a bit longer to get your food. However, it is well worth the weight. Since it wasn't too busy this time, the staff was doing a great job clearing and cleaning the tables. Based on my last review, however, I did not use the bathroom. Enjoy! read more

UNDENIABLY the best Mediterranean spot in Bakersfield. No contest. Wide myriad of sides, flavors are out of this world, and everything made as fresh as you can imagine. Your whole plate will be colorful and better yet, delicious. For kebabs, they grill to order so you'll be waiting quite a bit especially if you have to go through their usual long lines. I do think the wait is incredibly worth it. Not a single bad side on here and everything is worth trying. My personal favorites are the ezme and baba gunuj. Again, healthy and flavorful. The roasted potatoes with garlic will leave you wanting more. Plates are hefty and you won't complain about quantity for sure. It's so much food and we regularly safe half for lunch the next day. The service is always a little rough but the food is worth it. I walked in on a Saturday at 6pm and the line was so long! The restaurant was packed and they had so many people working but it took 25 minutes for me to get my food and I took it to go because there was no space. But there's a lot of seating inside and out. You will most likely have to wait for your food but it's fresh. So I am not going to complain. 3 of us ate and had a variety of dishes. No one complained. Our only issue was the soda machine had several flavors out of order but they weren't marked. So had we known, we would not have purchased fountain drinks. Just got our food, usually a great experience here, not sure what happened today. There was a small hair in the rice so I threw it all away. They did not give us any sauce on the side although I asked & my plate had only 2 of the garlic potato wedges, usually it's more. Horrible service and very rude staff. I order from here at least once a week but it has always been over the phone. I have never ordered inside the restaurant until today. The young girl who took my order was very rude and condescending. Such a lack of concern or care for the customer. I am so disappointed and although I really like their food, I will never be back because of this. Sultans, sultans... Where to begin? I discovered Sultans back in 2022 when I moved here and has quickly became a semi-regular treat for my family. The ambiance could use some enhancement but the food is the real deal, this place rocks. The food is all delicious and I haven't yet had anything I didn't like. I've tried nearly everything on the menu but I keep going back to the beef kefta. The seasoning and texture are just perfect and the garlic potatoes are also amazingly good with generous portions. Lately I default to the beef kefta wrap with everything on it. If I want the potatoes I just make it a combo and I'm set. Staff are friendly and helpful and I've never had a bad experience here. With the plate, I usually have food leftover. The staff is nice! There is seating indoors and there is seating outside as well. They lack basic customer service and food safety. Handle part of utensils was making contact with food. Every single food item in the side bar was cross contaminated. Did not see a single employee change gloves or wash hands in the 30 minutes it took to get my order. They were dumping new batches of side dishes right on top of the old. Salad was wilted and browned. Nothing looked like it was cleaned for the whole day. Prep bowls were not washed or cleaned between uses. Like at least clean the place as you go?? It's really disgusting. There is also no sense of urgency. I come here maybe once a month and every visit has been worse and worse. Walked in to a very clean little place and greeted by 2 lovely sweet ladies. We got the kefta plate and shawarma plate. It comes with 2 sides of choice and there were A LOT of choices! I seriously wanted and can have all the sides as a meal like what urban plate offers. To the owner if you're reading this, can totally offer a 4-5 sides combo or something for those who wanted a lighter salad option meal. We got the tabbouleh, cucumber salad, tzatziki, and eggplants. They lady offered to allow me to mix cauliflower also to try it out which was super generous and let me and they give a generous portion especially for the price. Although I'm comparing to downtown LA and SGV area plus sales taxes. Their garlic spread/sauce is good but a bit less garlicky than Zankou chicken (if you have tried that, that is). But still good. We also couldn't help ourselves and I got cheese fatayer and baklava. The baklava was not overly soaked with syrup which i prefer more and was delicious. I love the food at this place, it is amazing, but every single time we eat here it takes so long to get the food. We've tested out coming when it's empty and it still takes so long. When we came and it was empty it took them so long to put the kabobs to cook. Not sure if there is lack of communication of the staff of which orders needs to be made, but the way they have you pay after your plate is done is ridiculous. They should have you pay for your food so they can cue up whose food is in which order and what food needs to be cooked! read more

The portions are generous and the beef was full of flavor and perfectly cooked and so was the baba ganoush, it has a nice smoky flavor to it. The bowl also came with toum which was a satisfying amount of garlic. Got this to go and they also provided plastic forks and napkins. The attention to detail and quality of food is how I define that. You order at the counter. I ordered a chicken kabob and a beef kefta. The meats are deliciously spiced and grilled perfectly. I like that they were cooked to order, not mass cooked sitting under a heat lamp. They were served with a Mediterranean hot sauce & humus. You can order meals, bowls, wraps or just sides like I did today. The restaurant is very clean. It is family owned and has been open for 5 years. You can tell they take great pride in their business.
