One of the best Mediterranean spots in Bakersfield! The restaurant is clean, modern, and welcoming, with friendly staff and great service. The chicken is juicy and perfectly seasoned, while the rice, salads, sauces, and warm pita bread are always fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous and well worth the price. What keeps me coming back is the consistency honestly great food and excellent service every time. If you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food in Bakersfield, this place is a must-try! read more

Popped in for a quick lunch. Was looking for a light lunch and this hit the spot. The staff is friendly and attentive. The service was quick and the food was hot. The restaurant is small and has quite a few tables that you can easily arrange to accommodate a large party. The food here is Mediterranean and is so yummy. I ordered the falafel plate and subbed rice for the fries. It was a large portion so it is shareable if two people are looking for a filling snack or light lunch. The falafels were crunchy on the outside and moist inside- made perfectly! The hummus was served with fresh lemon juice and was fresh. I asked for some sumac to sprinkle onto my plate and it elevated the flavors. The dessert was delicious. I love pistachio anything and in baklava, it's my favorite. While I prefer a buttery pastry, this one was delicious and not too sweet. They have so much more in their menu, such as lentil soup, chicken soup, kabobs, kufta, stuffed grape leaves, and baba ganoush!! Definitely coming back to try their other dishes. Enjoy! read more

BOMB BOMB BOMB!!! Haven't had this place in a long since since 2021, not because it wasn't great the forst time just forgot. I placed my order through uber for pick-up and OMG THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINTMENT. Food was ready at the time it was ready and it was cooked to perfection. The rice has such a beautiful savory taste. The chicken was so juicy with great flavor. The fries were cooked the way I asked NO SALT but had their own flavor. The beef peta things are new for me but 10/10! The only thing I will say i didn't enjoy is condiments such as ketchup or hot sauce were not offered or placed in bag as I seen when I got back to work. They also didn't include utensils but I always keep extra in my locker. 100% recommend this place. Atmosphere is chill. read more

Really enjoyed this place for lunch the other day. I ordered baba ganoush and a gyro, both were excellent. Though the gyro was a bit small it had great flavor! I didn't eat there, but took it to go instead . The inside was cut and cozy and the gentleman assisting me in taking my order was very nice and helpful. I'll be back again read more

I really wanted to like this place most especially since the young gentleman on the register gave amazing service. Patience, kind, and gave great customer service. If I can rate with just his service, it'd definitely be a 5 star. Unfortunately, my disgust come from the chicken!!!! I literally bit into raw meat. That was the most disgusting chicken I ever had. I was afraid I was going to get sick, but lucky enough I caught it in time. This place apparently don't use a thermometer! Very disgusting experience. Never returning. read more

Due to the favorable reviews. I decided to try out this little spot during my recent overnight stay in Bakersfield. I'm a big fan of mediterranean food and I've eaten at many different mediterranean restaurants. In my opinion, this place was just okay, but certainly nothing special. I ordered the beef and lamb shawarma plate which goes for $14.99. The plate came with a generous portion of meat and rice, salad and hummus. I thought the hummus was actually quite tasty, but the shawarma was just mediocre. It was chopped up into small pieces and somewhat on the dry side. I don't think I will likely want to return to this particular restaurant. read more

Wow! Worthwhile stop in Bakersfield for those heading to Vegas=LA. Food was phenomenal! Flavor bomb. High end food for slightly higher fast food prices So worth it. Below was $56 with three dinner plates and appetizer. Bargain for the quality. Took about 10-15mins and worth the wait. Service was friendly. BEEF N lamb kabobs cooked to perfection so juicy and perfectly grilled with all the right spices. The rice was so good and best hummus so creamy with tangy lemon. Salad went great with everything. Kufta Plate(ground beef n lamb with parsley and spices) was AMAZING! Highly recommend. Mujarda (bulgar lentils onions) so good I dont find this often so whenever I see it I order. Definitely Unique may not be everyone's favorite but its mine and they make it well. Falafel was so nicely crispy with one of the best tahini sauce. Food Togo container was very sturdy and even had vents on top. Mujarda read more

Ordered a "Large" hummus for our Fourth of July bbq. Paid $6.99 for the Large container. The clerk handed me the bag with the hummus and a pita. When I got home I opened the bag and pulled out the hummus. Only half a container. Not even one cup of hummus! I called the manager to complain and he hemmed and hawed, but didn't offer more hummus or a refund or an apology. No more Hummus Express for our family. read more

Easy parking, gets hot summer evenings, food is good and fresh. I even heard a group of people next to me who said they come here frequently and they love it. Falafel was fresh and crunchy and excellent. The place was clean. They had options for tips which I'm not a big fan of. I still did tip a little bit. read more

Hummus Express - Sun hits in the evening, but still stays OK inside - Falafel Near Me - Bakersfield, California

Believe it or not - I was at a LOSS FOR WORDS - (funny huh?) when I saw the hamburger, drink, and fry combination ordered by two patrons that were sitting at our table. I MEAN SPEECHLESS! Oh my goodness! Have never seen a hamburger bun so fresh and fluffy, not to mention the contents of the burger! Reminded me of the A&W RootBeer Burger days! But wait - it gets BETTER! Seriously! The french fries they serve with the burger combo are simply sublime in my culinary world. These fries are gourmet all the way. Crispy on the outside, tender and moist and tasty on the inside. You just can't stop at one. No way! They need to enter them in a french-fry contest! For real! If you are unsure of what Mediterranean food is all about and haven't been to Hummus Express, boy, are you missing it! And, of course, if you aren't a fan of "Mediterranean" I betcha those fries will getcha! Check Hummus Express out!! You'll be SO glad you did! read more

Delicious and filling meals for fast food prices. This is a counter service place with quick efficient service. They are obviously working hard. The plates include salad, rice, hummus and pita in addition to the entree. For lighter appetites the wraps are a good choice. It's a small room with about 10 tables. You'll get some nice Middle Eastern music too. Had to keep my wife from dancing. read more

A great find in Bakersfield! A coworker recommended this spot to me, and I am so glad I stopped to try it. I ordered the Chicken Kabob Breast Plate and could tell it was made fresh. After ordering, the meal did not come out for 10-15 minutes, but I did not mind since I knew it was cooked to order. The chicken kabob pieces were huge and extremely flavorful! Also, service was fantastic and I was able to substitute hummus for baba ghanoush. Located in a Walmart shopping center, there is plenty of parking available outside of the restaurant. read more

As always before I travel to a city I look up 2 things, BBQ and Mediterranean restaurants, quite different but still 2 of my favorites. I saw the 5 star rating for Hummus Express and was looking forward to having one of my dinners there. I was totally blown away that that 5 star rating was worth it. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with the Greek salad. 5 stars for sure. I went back the next day and ordered the chicken shawarma gyro. That thing tasted great. Seriously this food is so worth coming by because of the taste, quality and size. 5 stars easily! read more

Just tried to eat a chicken shawarma I purchased and there were hard chunks of chicken and the bread was so hard I could barely eat it. I called and told them and the kid said sorry. I've been wanting to stop by for a while after my neighbor brought me some lentil soup. We decided to stop. I noticed it was busy. I didn't wanna wait too long. I was not feeling very good. I asked about their soup and what they sold them most. I ordered the beef kebab. My husband ordered the chicken fries. We were thinking OK we don't wanna wait that long so we're done. Let's just get it to go and go home. While waiting, the owner comes out and introduces himself tells us about how the food is prepared and brining us lentil soup . Very delicious by the way. We went ahead and ordered a large lentil soup and an appetizer he suggested. We had lunch and saved the rest for dinner. We still have lentil soup left over. Very generous and clean. I will make it one of my regular places. Very happy customer. read more

The place is cute and small. The music was very loud and was hard to talk with the people I was with. The service was ok, not very helpful. I asked a few questions about the specials and got very short answers. The food seemed to be reheated. Like it was cooked earlier and then cooked again. The meat was tough and the fries over cooked. The sauce was good. They did put the garlic sauce on the fries after we asked for it on the side. All and all it was I place I really wanted to try but it wasn't the place for me. read more

Every time I go there, the food is exceptional and the staff go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself.

Little Mediterranean place in a large complex with Walmart, Red Lobster, Lowe's etc. The service was prompt and friendly. Water and cutlery is self service . But the highlight is the food. Ordered the chicken shawarma plate , came with side of Greek salad, hummus, 2 thin roti and saffron rice. It was topped with delicious garlic sauce- which made me ask for an extra side of sauce! The lamb kabob, also had a healthy portion of lamb, rice , salad and hummus . The rice was flavorful. Also had a bowl of lentil soup- hot thick and hearty. Portions are large . You can probably share 1 course btw 2. There was something broken with the restroom handle. Tip, keep in mind any order of kebob will take 15 mins to prepare read more

This Mediterranean spot is surprisingly good--don't let the unassuming exterior fool you! I came here with coworkers and ordered multiple plates. Standouts included the lamb kabob plate, baklava, falafel, and arayes. It was my first time trying arayes, and I'll definitely order it again--it makes a great appetizer. The plates are quite generous, so the portions are definitely worth the price. read more

We order from here quite often, but lately, I don't know who is cooking their rice because it's extremely salty. If you like salty food, you'll love it -- but I'm definitely not a salty person. We usually get the chicken (breast) kabob plate. Their rice used to be good. We also usually order a side of grilled veggies -- well, they might not know the definition of "grilled" because lately, they've been serving practically raw onions. Today I had to ask them to re-grill the veggies because when I ordered over the phone, I specifically asked for them to be extra grilled -- but it seems they didn't get the memo. This will be the last time I order from here. read more

I was in Hummus Experess eating quietly with my wife when another customer picking up his order walks by and make a loud remark to us.. "Its straight fire, right?" We pleasantly responded to this gentelman with agreement. (he was a bro) My first time at Hummus Express and If i have to be blunt it was great!! I orded chicken shawarma and my wife got the chicken kabob plate and we ordered Cali fires to share. Nitty gritty: chicken kabob: Juicier then juicy fruit Hummus: I wish i had a bowl of it Salad: not my fave but wife loved it(i dont eat much salad though) Chicken shawarma: dryer than kabob but good flavor tahini sause: good but not as good as sultans on stockdale/coffee Garlic sause: bomb af hot sause: out of this world, better than mexican taco truck salsas Fries: crispy (i ordered them with tahini but next time going with garlic) I liked dining in but it only has a few tables and its a bit akward. I feel like this place like hummus express isnt an appealing enough name. i passed this place 10 dozen times with never stopping by. Should def think about rebranding. read more

What a horrible experience with the hunger we had and the expectations we had because we absolutely love mediterranean food. This has been the worst experience I've ever had eating out because you know eating out his pricing but to receive something that you're willing to pay good money for and it'd be burnt meat overcooked chicken try my steak kebab literally charcoal pieces is absurd I wish I would've went back to get a full refund because the only thing my family for could eat all those plates was just the lettuce and fries. Again, just very disappointed.! Stick to flaming skewers the original Mediterranean food here in Bakersfield. Total regret of almost $70 read more
