Walked in on Valentine's Day and there were seats available at the bar for my husband and I. They had an amazing valentines special that we enjoyed, I went in for the setup because I was craving the soup, I swear it's the best in town. It gives a dive bar vibe from the cocktail side but the restaurant is a nice dining experience.

I came to try the taco Tuesday menu.I never in my life imagined going to taco Tuesday at a basque restaurant, but I'm glad I did . The menu has amazing specials. You can try a few items , leave full and happy without breaking the bank . You can tell Chalet Basque is a local favorite, the people inside sat chatting with each other at different tables creating a cozy inviting atmosphere. The staff inside were kind , courteous and fast . Wait time here is minimal. The decor is vintage, showing the history of the restaurant, city and basque culture . Curiosity brought me here , I tried steak tacos , chips and salsa , and the smash burger. The food came out promptly and was freshly made . Everything was delicious, it tasted as if it was made to order . I enjoyed everything. My favorite was the shredded beef tacos , and the smash burger . The meat was so flavorful and juicy. I enjoyed my time here tremendously. I recommend.

During a road trip up to NorCal with some friends, we stopped in Bakersfield for gas and I suggested we get basque food for dinner. There are many options in Bakersfield and we opted for Chalet Basque since it was open later. Chalet Basque has a fairly large dedicated parking lot, but given that it was busy Valentine's Day we got one of the last two spots. We also got lucky getting a table without a reservation. Service was absolutely phenomenal with extremely friendly servers and was the highlight of the meal for sure. The restaurant was very rustic and lots of hearts were added for Valentine's Day. The dining areas are split into multiple rooms. As for the food, the oxtail dish was a bit cold and I have had better. They also failed to notify us that they had run out of stuffed mushrooms until the very end of the meal when we inquired why they had not arrived yet. The "setup" with all of the sides were plentiful, fresh, and very tasty though. Prices were also fair for the quantity of the food given.

It's been a bit since we've had a chance to stop into a classic, local favorite Chalet Basque Bakersfield on Oak St. It's under new ownership and they've really brought it back! Dinner tonight was amazing I had the Roast Beef (which was fork tender) and my husband had the Beef Bourginon which was delicious and flavorful. Our favorite staff member, George, was still there giving fantastic customer service as usual. If you haven't had a chance to go in lately, check it out!

I was very pleasantly surprised by our recent visit to Chalet Basque. I hadn't been in several years after it seemed to go down hill for a long while. I'd heard there is new ownership, so decided to come in and give them another go. The service was quick and pleasant, and most of the food lived up to what we expect from Basque food in Kern County. I really enjoyed the beef bourguignon, my mother in law loved her fried chicken with garlic, and my husband said his pork chop was "okay." (I thought it tasted oddly fishy.) Everything else was very good.

Didn't get greeted when we entered Didn't get seated until asked. Slow and bad service. Proteins over cooked. Ignored the entire time. And they took forever for the bill. Do not waste time and money. Very disappointed. Also the food looks like it has artificial dyes in it.

Garlic Parmigiana Wings, home made ranch dressing, and fries

Compliments to the chef, these are not your average garlic parmesan wings! These were made with LOVE! We are talking about fresh garlic and parsley, minced and sautéed with butter and parmesan cheese. House ranch is on point and perfectly crispy fries. Hands down beats many competitors with quality and price! Happy hour deals are an extra BONUS!

I have just visited the cocktail lounge recently and I must say Jeffrey provides great service and delicious drinks. Manny who has been here for years is always so friendly. Now I have been informed that ownership has changed. The focus is on higher quality of meat & produce in the kitchen. Also staff has been expanded to provide the best in cuisine and service. I'm looking forward to dining here soon.

I guess because it's a sports bar restaurant, and it's in Bakersfield. I got the shock of my life. It turned out, this was the best barbecue food I ever had. Not only that, but it's very affordable. I would say a bargain. I didn't have to spend 100+ dollars for 2 persons, like a lot of so called high quality barbecue restaurants. The briskets and ribs were amazing. Delicious, flavorful, and melts in your mouth. Sides were also delicious. The service was good too. You just go up and get your order. It took a little time, but the staff is helpful and friendly. I'll be back here again, the next time I'm in Bakersfield. Maybe I'll visit the Buck Owen's museum. Bakersfield is truly the Texas of California, although I've only been to El Paso, Texas.

The service is prompt, order at the counter and find a seat. It's nothing special, just a well orderd eatery with something for everyone. The California Burger - First Time Visit…read more First time trying The California Burger and ordered it for pickup. Right off the bat, the staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the prices are very fair, which already puts it in good standing. I ordered the California Burger, which comes loaded with avocado, onions, pickles, shredded lettuce, onion, 2 little half slices of bacon though, tomato, cheese, and their house sauce. Big plus that the avocado was fresh! and they didn't skimp on it (thank you ), and I really liked the shredded lettuce instead of the usual sad leaf situation. The sauce deserves a shoutout too! it's genuinely tasty and ties everything together nicely. Overall, the flavors were pretty good. Now for the honest part: the patty itself was a bit dry, which is kind of a big deal when it's the main event. That said, the generous amount of sauce definitely helped counteract the dryness. And honestly, when you're starving, there's a moment where you just say "whatever" and keep eating--and I did . It wasn't horrible by any means, just not quite on the level of a couple other burger spots I usually go to. The patties are on the thinner side, but that seems to be the norm at most casual burger joints these days. This feels like an easy fix though, cook the patties a little less and this burger would level up fast! Would I swear off this place forever? No. But if I know there's a better burger option open, that's probably where I'll go first. That said, if it's a Sunday, I'm craving a burger, and all my usual spots are closed... yeah, I'd consider coming back. Maybe. Solid spot, good flavors, and a little tweak away from being even better.

When we walked in we were greeted right away and told to sit wherever we wanted. It was pretty empty but got busier as lunch went on. About 8 minutes after we sat down, Karina (our waitress) came over. She was very friendly and brought us some rosemary lemon waters and a complimentary appetizer of butter-toasted sourdough with an onion garlic spread. I enjoyed it a lot and it was definitely a nice little touch. For the first 10 minutes though we were wondering where the menus were until we realized you have to scan the QR code on the little card that sits on the table to look at the menu! Ha, It would've been nice to have that mentioned when we sat down, but once we figured it out, it was easy. The place is pretty chill. Good verity of music playing. Atmosphere felt lively, lots of chatter as background noise, large windows that let in a lot of natural sun light so it feels open and inviting. They also brought out a free sample of their strawberry fresca, which was super fresh and refreshing. Not too sour nor sweet. We both ordered the Western burger with onion rings and sweet potato fries. Also had to get me one of those fresca's and my hubby got a coke. 25 minutes later our food arrived, and man did it look phenomenal! The burgers are stacked high, patties were thick, juicy and cheesy. The buns all glistening, and it was super saucy, just beautiful and well presented. Lol. Fries and onion rings come in cute little baskets and pots too. The beef tasted so clean and buttery! Completely melt-in-your-mouth awesomeness. Very gourmet and high quality. The bacon was perfectly cooked with very little fat and had such a rich, clean flavor and was just really done well. Quality top notch for sure. The onion rings were unlike any I've had before. They weren't super crispy, more soft and tender, but the flavor was so good it didn't even matter. They were huge and the batter was savory and seasoned well. The texture kind of reminded me of a funnel cake, soft with a little crisp.. very different from your typical onion ring. Their chipotle aioli ranch paired perfectly with them too. (My left over onion rings reheated to crispy perfection in the air fryer the next day!) The sweet potato fries were also really good and had sauce drizzled over the top. My husband mentioned it would've been nice to have some extra sauce on the side for dipping, though. Paid about 68 in total with tip. Not bad. Overall, we really enjoyed everything and are looking forward to coming back.
