My wife and I came to this restaurant because we looked online at the menu and there were 2 items I was very interested in: The tempura cauliflower and the chicken cordon bleu. We get there, and asked if we have a reservation...uh oh....it was Valentines Weekend, but they did find a table for us. Then we get a waiter who I believe was the busboy to help out and we are told right off the bat that the tempura cauliflower AND the cordon bleu were sold out. Well, damn... this is not a good start. I took a look at the menu and I saw a portobello mushroom appetizer that sounded interesting so, we started with that. We then got some garlic bread to munch on while waiting for the appetizer and it was really good. The portobello mushroom sliced, fried, and served with marinara sauce. I have found mushroom appetizers usually very underwhelming and I wasn't expecting anything extraordinary here, but this appetizer was delicious. The mushroom was prepared perfectly and paired so damn good with the marinara. I forgot all about the sold out cauliflower! Since the cordon bleu was off the menu, I saw my good ol' standby, eggplant parmesan on the menu. At $25, I thought it was a bit pricey considering it didn't come with pasta, but I thought, what the hell. I'll give it a go. My wife ordered the Beef bourguignon with rice. They bring our plates to the table, and my jaw literally dropped at the size of the portions. HUGE. The eggplant parmesan looked more like a lasagna and it was topped with cheese and marinara. Cutting to the chase, it was delicious, impossible to finish, and the eggplant was tender and breaded just right. That portion of eggplant became 3 more meals for me, and I can eat a lot. Worth every penny of that $25. The beef bourguignon was also delicious and the portion was very large as well. We wished we got it with the pasta instead of the rice, though. The leftovers her meal also provided a couple more meals, and the flavor holds up to reheating. I am going to be coming back to this place to sample more of the menu, because if what we had on our first visit is any indication, I will be getting a great meal no matter what is ordered. The service is a little slow, but everyone was very pleasant and seemed truly happy their food was enjoyed. read more

We walked in later than I was comfortable with, they closed at 8:00pm and we came at 7:30. I asked if it was too late to be seated and the man there was so kind and made us feel very welcome! Service was so kind and friendly. All our meals were amazing. The cucumbers on the salad were some of the best I've ever eaten. We got the cinnamon tea with our meals of shrimp scampi, chicken Parmesan and chicken Marsala. Their pasta is fresh and made in house. Very quaint and quiet place. Love it there! read more

We have been wanting to come here for a while. I made a reservation for two us on Saturday night. Walked into a classic diner feel with plenty of seating. You walk in and wait to be seated. There was hardly anyone there so the reservation was pointless. The menu has lots of choices of all kinds of dishes to choose from. The food was absolutely delicious and pure authentic Italian cuisine. I got the seafood pasta, and the wife ordered their chicken marsala. Perfetto is settled right next to the Hitching Post Theater in the heart of Tehachapi, a spot that couldn't be better for a date and a movie night for couples wanting small-town charm. My wife and I have been slowly working through all the restaurants in town on our monthly date nights, and this one sounded promising. We love Italian food and were surprised we hadn't heard more about it. After visiting, we kind of understood why. It had the potential to be something cozy and romantic, but it ended up feeling more like a dated diner with some random Italian décor thrown on the walls, complete with red vinyl booths. On a Friday night, it wasn't packed, but even with only a few tables filled, it took quite a while for anyone to take our order. The music didn't help. It bounced between 60s and 70s rock with a random sprinkle of The Beatles, absolutely nothing romantic or Italian about it. At the very least, I expected some Rat Pack vibes or something that whispered, "Welcome to our little slice of Italy." No such luck. When the food arrived, it was a mixed bag. The garlic bread was actually pretty good. The pasta, on the other hand, was overcooked. My wife described it as possibly authentic noodles that had been frozen and then thawed another day to serve. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar, and for a place claiming to be an Italian restaurant, it missed the mark across the board. The service was friendly but slow, and there wasn't much effort to check in after the food came out. We really wanted to love this place. It's in a perfect location and could easily be one of those hidden gems Tehachapi is known for. But instead, it felt like a missed opportunity. This place is a nice gem in the heart of Tehachapi. My wife where met with warm greeting and seated right away. The service was amazing and we got to speak to owner who so very friendly, she explained how everything was fresh and home made even the pasta. I had Italian sausage in a red vodka sauce over pasta, and my wife had the chicken parm. I had to try hers and I was not dissapointed, it was just as fantastic as my dish. This is a new favorite of mine. I'm the type that is stuck in a rut only going to a few restaurants in town, my wife saw this place and wanted to try it. Food was awesome. I definitely suggest a reservation. We came on a bad night. The staff was overwhelmed with a big party and us other smaller parties suffered for it. We were able to sit right away, but soon every table was full and there were parties waiting for a seat. We asked for drink refills 5 times. They kept coming out of the kitchen with plates of food for the big party, but couldn't bother to bring water and wine refills to the smaller tables. The waiter had a strap on his bracelet that fell on my plate of food as he reached across to place another dish. We ordered food that never made it out. The food that we did receive was very good--that's why I'm still leaving a high rating. We had ordered another round of bread and apps that they were apparently just too busy to make or forgot. Another lady came out that seemed embarrassed and thanked everyone for their patience...But still didn't bring water. We were here for 2 hours. Italian is my favorite and I really wanted to love this place and support a local family-run business. This is a sweet little gem in Tehachapi, it feels like you're being served right out of your nonna's kitchen. Service: They had one waitress serving all 11 tables, therefore there was a long wait for everything (from drinks to taking orders to serving the food). Not the girls fault, and she was super great and apologetic for the wait time. The owner was in the kitchen but did take time away from the stove to check on some of the tables. Food: Portobello fries were great except their oil was reused / not a new batch since the coloring was a dark brown. Salad and garlic bread as typical, but my husband really enjoyed their creamy potato soup. My husband decided to share and try their eggplant parm and their lasagna. Their eggplant parm came in three thick slices with sauce and cheese. Great flavors and my husband enjoyed it more than I did. The lasagna was at most a 3x3 slice, small and drenched in melted cheese. I ate about 1/4 of it there and took my other 1/4 home and ate it the next day which tasted better. Indoors is a fancy little dining area, wish we could've eaten inside, but since its covid season 2020, we cannot. The eggplant parm is massive and delicious! Something was strange about the shrimp scampi, maybe the pasta and white wine sauce didnt go hand in hand but both if eaten separately could be good, and shrimp were large and mouth watering. Garlic bread was crunchy and flavorful but still had better sticks elsewhere. Soup and/or salad comes with Entrees and both are great quality. We went there last week for the first time since we moved to Tehachapi 6 years ago. Let's just say, I won't be back. How can you ruin chicken picatta? Well, they certainly did. The pasta was overdone as if it was sitting on the stove all day, the chicken was tasteless and the capers were so overdone they resembled large peas. It was not the chicken picatta that I'm familiar with. Just chuncks of chicken that reminded me of something from the Campbell's soup company. I brought the whole dinner home for my dog, he was hesitant about eating it but in the long run, it appeared as if he enjoyed it. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs, also unedible because of the dry overdone pasta. I'm giving 3 stars because the garlic bread was tasty and the waitress was really nice, and, I guess I can throw in that my other dog actually jumped for joy eating the meatballs. So, if you want to get a nice meal for your dogs, by all means, go. read more
