Holy basil, this place is good! I had the red curry with tofu, and I think this is the best curry I've ever had. The Boyfriend had the garlic and pepper lunch special with chicken. He said everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, from the egg roll, to the soup, to the main dish. All of the vegetables were fresh and top quality. The tofu was soft with just the right sear on the outside. Our server got everything perfect with a friendly please and thank you at every interaction. What a wonderful experience. Travelling for work and I was passing through Tehachapi last week. I was looking for something new and Taste of Siam came up on my app so I decided to drop by and give it a try as I love Thai food. The restaurant is small but it's very cozy and there are enough tables inside to accommodate a handful of groups. The staff is so friendly, I was welcomed by more than one person when I entered and the person that brought me the menu thanked me for coming in and went over the menu with me including telling me about their specials. I went for the pineapple fried rice, one of my favorite dishes and it did not disappoint. The portion size was great, more than enough to fill me up. It was bursting with flavor and had plenty of chicken and pineapple mixed in with the rice. I also had a Thai Iced Tea and it was great, the staff checked on me several times and were just very friendly and accommodating. I could do with a touch more spice in the dish but overall it was very good and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. I'm not big on comparing places but there is another Thai location in Tehachapi that I've visited and I'll say with confidence Taste of Siam is better. This will be my new spot for Thai when I'm in the area and in the mood. Great food, great staff, great prices, a must try. read more

This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. When we came in to sit and eat, we waited over 20 minutes without anyone coming by to take our order or even refill our waters--we had to ask just to get water. Since no one was coming, we ended up placing a phone order instead. We arrived at 5:40 and didn't receive our food until 7:20. Throughout the wait, we were told things like "20 minutes left," "just need to grab the soda," or "your order will be ready after theirs." None of it was true, and there was no transparency on how long it would actually take. Meanwhile, a couple that came in after us was seated right away, had their order taken, and received four dishes before we even got our food. Not once did anyone apologize or try to make the situation right. Even the CUSTOMERS were acknowledging how long we were waiting because they received service and their food prior to us. One table shared their dessert because they felt bad with how long we sat there and no one came to our table to ask if we wanted to order. There was absolutely no sense of customer service. At the very least, some form of compensation should have been offered for the poor experience and wasted time. If it weren't for the fact that it was my birthday and I had traveled over two hours to celebrate with my father--who specifically wanted Thai food--I would have walked out and demanded a refund. To top it off our food was poorly packaged, sauce spilled out, and the chips for the salad aren't even sealed and just left in an open clear bag that spilled out! Completely unacceptable. Photos included to show the timeline of when we received our food and when it was placed. Even the online ordering isn't accurate and my friend received his order prior than us. My wife and I had a really good feeling that they'd be great because our wonderful friend Brittany recommended them. She said that they can make Mee Krob if we asked for it, and she was correct. We began our meal with the Mee Krob, and it tasted so very very good!! 5 stars for that appetizer! Pad Thai with Chicken was my choice. Always need to order this entree whenever I try a Thai restaurant for the first time. Their version left my tummy yummy and satisfied. 5 stars! Panang Curry with Beef was my wife's choice. Also 5 stars for this tasty dish! Tom Kha with shrimp was our companions choice for us all to share. My first time trying this soup. I loved it as well. Another 5 star winner! Banana Delight was our dessert. Unfortunately, they did not have Mango with Sticky rice available that evening. The Banana Delight was a terrific consolation prize. Been there a few times and this last time for takeout. My rounded comment is that they are very inconsistent in quality. Ordered Combination Fried Rice, and they had included a lot of filler vegetables not on the menu, like cabbage and bell pepper. So much cabbage it wasn't fried rice anymore and more like Mixed Vegetables and a bit of rice. The Wonton Soup had so much filler vegetables it tasted like cabbage chicken soup, and had maybe 4 or 5 wontons that mainly fell apart. The Calamari had very little squid in it wrapped in lots of batter, so it looked and tasted more like barely squid flavored fry bread. I think my takeaway is they don't have day to day quality cook consistency, they use a bunch of unwanted filler vegetables that don't match the cuisine, and skimp on ingredients. They make it look like a lot of food with the fillers, but it really detracts from the flavors and dishes. And please start serving fountain soda, don't give me a can, I want refills so I can wash your food down. read more

We were sad when King of Siam closed for business. So glad a new owner took over and re-open the Thai restaurant as Taste of Siam. The same great menu and food. Service was on point. Dan was our server and he was very friendly and accommodating. Another local yelper friend recommended we ask for an off menu order of mee krob. We did and it was delish! Portions were generous and food tasted great. We are so glad to still have an amazing Thai restaurant with great food and service in Tehachapi. I had driven past this spot for two years but read that they are offering fresh sushi. Yesterday, we went by and what a pleasant surprise! The restaurant is clean and nicely appointed. The staff was cheerful and extremely helpful. Our food was freshly prepared and ready for us in 15 minutes. I had the tempura shrimp rolls, cucumber salad and grabbed a king pao pork for dinner later. My husband had the orange chicken.
