I've given the new owners plenty of chances. This time, I decided to dine in instead of getting takeout to see if the quality had improved. Unfortunately, the soup was terrible, filled with gristly meat, and the broth tasted like water rather than chicken. They barely gave any sizzling rice. I didn't even eat the soup. My son said the buffet was decent and ate it, but to me, everything looked unappetizing. I'm done. This was the last chance for the new owners to make things better. Sadly, you can't get sizzling rice soup at any other restaurant in Tehachapi. For really good food, I have better luck in Palmdale or Santa Clarita. 6/9/24 read more

Food was ok. I went to use the woman's restroom and the hydraulic arm that is supposed to slow down the extra heavy door did not work. I heard the door coming too fast and reach behind me to try and slow it down. Instead it caught my fingertips in the door. I am brining this awareness before some child opens the door and gets hurt. read more

Some of these were taken from the meat-based dishes, broccoli taken from the beef & broccoli. The meat-eaters should be happy with the remaining meat-to-vegetable ratio. Hey, Wall of China, what happened? I hate to be rude but, your food is down right disgusting. We went there last night and I promise I will never go back again. Your buffett should be banned. Everything appeared to be a few days old, the orange chicken was hard as a rock, the coconut shrimp was a joke, fried cod (did you run out of shrimp?) was tastfree, what a total 'let down'. It seems you need to catch the early afternoon and early evening time in order to have a fresher selected buffet. We went at 5:40PM to chow down and the food seemed dried out or wilted. 6:00 rolled around and the food started to get replaced with fresher food. read more

I wanted to update my review. I went back to try the buffet again due to learning that their were new owners. People on Nextdoor said it was much better. So, I thought I'd give it a try. The buffet was much improved. There was a variety of foods and they were well prepared and tasty. It is not as big as it was before Covid but very good. We dine at a lot of Chinese buffets and this one was better than most. The food was tasty and hot. Most items were fresh and not old tasting. The service was very good. This place was very clean, even the restrooms, which in my opinion pretty much tells the cleanliness of the entire restaurant. Would go back when we're in town. read more

The prices are ridiculous and the food is awful. Went sometime last year and it was OK, now just terrible. $18.95 for a chicken dish that looked like it had been sitting around somewhere for a while. Sweet and sour shrimp burned beyond recognition and lots of pieces of fried batter with no shrimp in them. Barbeque pork fried rice last time was big and fluffy with nice, fresh pork pieces. Now it's one third the size and all greasy and pork looks days old. Not going back. Major rip off for the money they charge and non existent customer service. read more

Great Wall has the best sizzling rice soup, we go there just for the soup mostly and the orange chicken, wow, Chinese tea is good also just the right strength. I always bring the whole family here for dinner and we love it here, we have a favorite waiter here, Lancaster location. The service at The great Wall was good, plates removed in a timely manner, water refilled right away. The restaurant was clean, foam to-go containers out of place but that may be due to limited storage space. I had the buffet, and it was ok, some of the items had been there a bit, noodles where stuck to the pan and the beef and broccoli was sort of soggy and not very warm. Some of the fried items were mixed together, but my biggest complaint was there were no labels on the food. As for the prices, I guess they are about equal with everyone else, there are no good deals anymore when going out to eat. 15-20 bucks is the norm nowadays, that without anything but water. I will try The Great Wall again just to give it a second chance, maybe ordering from the menu would be better, at least you would know your food would be hot and freshly prepared. read more

I don't come here often enough, I am glad I did finally stop by. Sunday brunch seems to get pretty busy. We did not have trouble finding a parking space. We were greeted friendly at the door by a young man, and then sat down quickly without a wait (we beat the Sunday rush). We got a nice window view but we're quickly to our feet for hit the buffet line. Choices were great, nothing looked odd nor had any weird smell. Everything I tasted was very good, I was able to squeeze in some dissert after getting stuffed with the buffet choices. Overall service was GREAT, food was delicious, table, silverware, cups were all clean. I will come back soon, Happy customer. read more

I was recently enjoying a meal at The Great Wall and the food was good. The only point against the place in my opinion ( and I was the GM of a real nice bar a grill in Burbank for 10 years.......hint hint) was that they left the door to their ice machine wide open the whole hour I was there, and I'm sure it's regularly like that seeing the way it was tapped open for good or only the days the health department makes their visits. It may seem like a small thing to nit pick at but thats just completely unsanitary in my professional opinion. read more
