We had 60th birthday dinner here for a friend

It's a Great Value And Food is Tasty Very Busy on Weekends I would Highly Recommend try it if you like Buffets

Food was delicious and plentiful. The service was great. The kitchen was constantly filling and keeping the buffet fresh. Clean atmosphere.

One thing for sure, come in hungry! Decided to come back here since I remembered their wide selection of seafood during the last time I went. They have crab legs, mussels, craw fish, and shrimps. Then, they have the Chinese classics, the orange chicken, beef with broccoli, honey walnut shrimps. I'd have to say, they were pretty decent. The egg drop soup was okay, too! The reason for the three stars are the dessert. Looks better than they taste - the red bean sesame ball was mostly filled with air and their cream puff was a little bit hard to bite. Sadly, you really can't put ridiculously high expectations on a Chinese buffet here in town.

I think the reviews are being a little too critical. I think they're forgetting that all chinese buffets essentially operate the same way, and people who enjoy this place may not be the type of people to get on Yelp. Went for the first time and had low expectations because of the reviews but it was better than I expected. The servers were very attentive and my family always had their drinks filled. I'd leave my dirty plate and go for my next round and soon as I get back, my dirty plate was already gone like magic. That's how attentive they were. The room was fairly filled with customers but we definitely did not feel rushed. We actually even overstayed from just talking when we were already finished dining. Was it the best dining experience of my life? Of course not. Was it good for $15? Absolutely. Don't come over here expecting a five star buffet.

The older lady there was being rude to us aside from waiting forever to receive our drinks and refills we were also followed to the register to make sure we payed. She stood behind us the whole time until we payed. Like lady we have the money to pay.... Were usually very good about the tipping but felt no need after what we experienced. The food was mid. Shrimp was good. If you're looking for a better buffet I recommend Sakura.

The first time I went it was pretty good. We decided to go back but for lunch this time. The waitress wasn't very friendly and only two of us were able to get a refill. Inside is nothing fancy but fine for casual dining. The food was fresh and pretty good. Plenty of things to choose from and for kids. Nuggets, fries, fish, shrimp, limited sushi bar, and several deserts to choose from. It's between a few hotels and stayed pretty busy.

Price is good for what you get. Staff is nice. No outdoor seating. Food isn't great but isn't bad. Food is fresh. Buffet is kept clean.

The lady who took payment when entering was really nice, helpful and bubbly! From there we found a place to sit and went to the buffet. There was an assortment of food. I enjoyed the choices I had to choose as there were different cuisines including dessert. The cost was $25 per person for dinner. I believe the lady said $20 per person for lunch. Ambiance was simple.

Jade Buffet, formerly known as Sakura, may not be the newest or most polished place in town yes,…read morethe décor is dated, the koi pond could use some attention, and it can get pretty crowded but in my opinion, that's missing the point. This isn't a Michelin-rated restaurant; it's an affordable buffet, and for the price, it delivers exactly what you hope for. During my visit, I saw trays of food being consistently replenished and staff quickly bussing tables, which kept things moving smoothly despite the crowd. The variety was impressive, so many dishes that I could only try a fraction of them in one sitting. Everything I had was fresh, tasty, and satisfying for the value. Honestly, I really enjoyed my meal here and left feeling full and happy. If you go in with the right expectations decent food at a fair price with plenty of options you'll likely leave the same way. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try the dishes I missed the first time.

This time the son and I decided to dine in and the food was borderline spoiled, nothing tasted fresh and it wasn't hot, nor warm. Our food was borderline cold. The interior was dusty and in need of attention, especially the fake plants. Though spacious when we entered there wasn't a soul in the place, which was a red flag, but per usuh we brought people. I'm not sure if our food was so nasty because we ordered a lunch special and they reserve what's going bad for those orders because the other four families dining in didn't seem to be having the same experience. What saved this review from being a 1 star review and the only reason I didn't complain to the waitress about the quality of the food is because the only server was elderly and unable to pick up her feet and my very gracious son said to lig, so I did, but it appears if the couple who runs the restaurant doesn't get some help soon they may need to close their doors.

The rib was probably the best of the meats. The trip was okay. The food is buffet food so I don't have really high expectations. For a traditional family style buffet I would give the a 3.5 on the food. They had a great selection on salads made in house. The meat guy recommended the broccoli salad and I tried it. It was pretty good. It's been at least 15 years since I've had broccoli salad. That did not disappoint. My wife liked the good variety and selection, and the fried chicken was pretty good. My son liked the apple cobbler and their homemade peanut butter cookies. The service was exceptional. Everyone working there was pleasant and friendly. 5 of 5 for service. The atmosphere, the design and theme was very appropriate, although dated it is still very welcoming and appropriate for the venue. With that being said, the carpet was filthy and the upholstery was warn and old. It looks dated and tired. They can keep the overall theme and look, but give the restaurant an updated facelift of sorts. The seasonal decorations were nice. The store gift shop sold miscellaneous items including some of their baked goods, so that was cool. The lighting needs to be updated. That would really enhance their atmosphere. The bathrooms. You can learn a lot about a place from the bathroom. These weren't filthy per se but the floors were pretty nasty. It always grosses me out when my shoes stick to the tiles. The fixtures were on par with a lot of the restaurant, old, dated, and tired. Formica countertops? A lot of these design elements just need to be polished up. I think this is a great part of the Bakersfield community, but I think it's been a bit neglected. It's probably family owned for a while and the kids or whatever have gotten complacent with the business. I'm not saying it is poorly ran and the positive experience with their staff can attest to that. But they can use some freshening up. Tip to owner, I didn't see any take out happening during my visit but in today's food retail market, take out is HUGE! Especially with the Holiday season and football games etc. I have a feeling you are missing out on some of your local market. Reach out if you want a more detailed discussion. Bakersfield is poised to grow and i hope that you are poised to grow as a local business as well. I'm glad we stopped by on our way back to Sacramento.

While it's far from the best Chinese food buffet in town, it's not horrendous like some of the reviews on here make it out to be. Yes, they do cut some corners here with the food they serve here but honestly, it's cheap here and for the price, it's fine. I actually like their soups here as their egg flower soup is decent and so is their hot and sour soup. I am not a huge fan of their fried rice nor chow mein, but items like their beef broccoli and teriyaki chicken are actually pretty decent. I have also tried their seafood and they have a good amount of seafood for dinner, but I personally am not huge on seafood, but I tried a white fish entree (not sure if it was tilapia or sole) and it was surprisingly good! Some things are not good however, like their sushi. I just can't trust this place with sushi because of their inconsistency with some of the food. I don't want to get sick! I'd rather go to a reputable sushi place in town! The service here is okay and not the worst nor the best I've experienced. The server that I had on my last visit was a little neglectful in the fact that he didn't pick up our plates and they seemed to pile up. He seemed like a nice guy, but it felt like he was under constant pressure by the manager. He did bring us more hot tea, but that was about it. However, I have been here before where the server was good and constantly took our dirty plates. I guess it varies. China Star buffet is not a 5-star buffet and don't expect that coming here. For the price, you can't go wrong as they even have a happy hour special Monday- Friday from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM where the buffet is $6.95. That's not bad at all! Some of the food is surprisingly good, but some of it is just not good. The food here is decent and at this price point, you could do much worse. If the food was slightly better, I'd go up a star, but hey, you get what you pay for here!
