This is the first time visiting Lam's and I have to say it was pretty damn good. Everything from the orange chicken to the fried rice to the lo mein noodles was delicious. The egg rolls were good as well and if you feel like kicking it up a notch make sure to grab some chili sauce. The service was nice and friendly. The restaurant was nice a quiet, which was nice for a change. If you haven't been here, I'd definitely recommend coming to try it out.

We didn't need a full meal, but we needed something. It was one of those days where we had a late lunch. Now it was early evening. If we had a full meal, a good night's rest would be out of the question. We were near Bakersfield College and I remembered a little Chinese place my Dad took us some10-15 years ago. We stopped in. It didn't look like the place changed much. There was the enormous aquarium in the entry giving the place an interesting ambiance. The staff seated us quickly. Our server took our order - Honey Walnut Shrimp. It was the perfect portion we were looking for. The shrimp was tender and the honey and walnuts added a pleasant flavor. There was a good serving of steamed rice. We enjoyed our plate and promised ourselves it would not take another decade to return and try a full meal.

Came here after a long run on a weekend and we were immediately seated. All the food on their menu sounded really good and they have reasonably priced lunch and dinner plates. Meals come with soup, egg roll, fried rice, and noodles. I found my shrimp meal a bit dry but the rest of my companions' meals were really flavorful! And if they say spicy sauce, they mean it. A little goes a long way! Will be back for sure!

The hot and spicy shrimp is just the way I remember it over 30 years ago. Happy to revisit this Bakersfield classic! Grateful the most recent owner kept the Lam family recipes!

Good portions, spicy and tasty. I ordered the lunch special so it came with an egg flower soup which was good too. The crunchy noodles were a little over toasted.

Jay continues to perfect the recipes. Seafood soup. Put white pepper and some hot sauce in the soup for mouth explosions. Pork with Peking. So good with white rice. Service is solid

We absolutely love the food here and this is our go to meal. Spicy shrimp with fried rice. The service was great and were greeted and seated right away. It was really slow when we visited. It was really quiet tv was on but not loud like other places. Restaurant was very clean.

I've been going to Lam's ever since I moved to Bakersfield. This spot has the best authentic Chinese sit down food to date. If you want real stuff and not Panda Express or those standard to go places around the corner then this would be your destination. They have everything! Claypot dishes, noodle dishes, rice dishes, you name it. You can taste the "wok hay" from all of their food. One thing to note is you should finish all of your food right then and there because heating any of this up will not be as appetizing! I always love having crunchy house chow mein whenever I get Chinese. This is just the way to go. Always 10/10 as the noodles slowly softens, but make sure you finish it all as left overs as I've previously mentioned. Reheated soft noodles are not it! The beef clay pot was so savory! You can taste the generous mound of five spice they put in there. Always order a veggie dish such as stir fried green beans or eggplants to soften the heavy savory flavors. I would go here much more often if it was in a more accessible part of town. Lam's is a Bakersfield hidden gem!

Lam's is probably one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Bakersfield. I have a few places that are on top of my list and this one is up there. I'm a fan of family style meals since I'm usually dining w family or friends. I love the idea of sharing different items so we know what to get next time. The place is a little outdated with a little bit of upgrades, but this place has been here a long while so it looks the same from many years ago. Any time we have dined in it has never been too busy, but I see quite a bit of people do phone/pick up orders. We are always seated pretty quickly and after we order our food it doesn't take long for them to get our food out. The staff is usually pretty nice, we've never had issues here. It seems like a family owned restaurant. My favorite item to order is either the wonton soup or the fried tofu w shrimp. We don't come here often since this place is not near our neighborhood, but we do like the food so we make our way out here sometimes. The parking area seems a little sketchy, so make sure to park close to the restaurant. There's lights, but not a lot of other businesses nearby. Parking has never been an issue since they have a good amount of parking and it's not usually too busy.

My grandson and my babies geeked out on the statues lol, kids will be kids. Restrooms are super clean. Crunchy noddles are a must try. Eggs rolls were perfectly crunchy and packed with filling and flavor. Food was a 10/10 and again customer service was amazing. Mai Tai 10/10. The place is like your standard Chinese takeout restaurant, where you have premade dishes, ready to be served with white rice, fried rice, or chow mein noodles. The menu has standard items such as orange chicken, general, chicken, chicken, teriyaki, honey, walnut, shrimp, honey, chicken, mushroom chicken, and so. They also offer egg rolls, cream, cheese, wontons, and soup. What stands out about this place is that they offer a catering menu, unlike some of the other homegrown Chinese takeout places. The restaurant itself is very clean although had a strong smell of Fabuloso and the tables in the floors were a bit sticky. They have one singular bathroom and it was clean. The person who took my order was very nice, friendly, and professional. She was very eager to give me a taste of the entrées in case I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat and I thought that was very cool. I purchased a bowl with half fried rice and half chow mein, and one entrée. For my entrée chose the honey shrimp. my meal came with a fountain drink so that was good. The entrée is $9.99 however, because I got the shrimp, it was a little bit extra. I wish I had gone when the IG people were there doing their reel... Because my food didn't taste anything like how they described it. The honey shrimp was very tasty and the shrimp was cooked perfectly however, every now and then I would get a huge puffy piece. I was not impressed with the fried rice nor the chow mein. I was expecting it to have a wok-seared flavor, like how it was described by the couple doing the reel on IG. For me, it was very plain, in fact, at one point, I thought the chow mein noodles were spaghetti noodles. While the meal satisfied my hunger, since it was dinner time, I likely will not be going back... Sorry, peeps I still have not found good Chinese food in Bakersfield. I hope you have a different experience, and if you do, enjoy!

Spicy, stir-fried flat rice noodles with your choice of meat (we picked chicken and beef & pork are available for an additional fee) chili, garlic, basil, onion, bell pepper, carrot and tomato. You can pick your level of spicy and we went with spicy. 5/5 2. Crying Tiger $18.95, Thai style grilled beef. Served medium rare with spicy tamarind sauce. This was definitely my favorite. Thai Boat Noodle Soup $16.95, a savory herbal broth with pork rinds, beansprouts, Chinese broccoli, choice of noodles and choice of beef or pork, topped with fried garlic, green onion, and cilantro. I have food allergies, and they went out of their way to accommodate my dietary needs, which I greatly appreciated. It's not always easy to find a restaurant that takes allergies seriously, and their willingness to help made the entire dining experience stress-free and enjoyable. The food was fresh, flavorful, and generously prepared. The lemon chicken was a standout dish--the chicken was tender and crispy, coated in a bright, tangy lemon sauce that was perfectly balanced between sweet and citrusy. I also really enjoyed the chow mein, which was packed with flavor and had a great texture with perfectly cooked noodles and vegetables. The chicken and vegetables dish was another favorite, featuring tender chicken and fresh, crisp vegetables in a light, savory sauce that let the ingredients shine. It's pretty simple, basic furnishings, nothing fancy at all. It looks like it can use some upting inside. But I was more focused on trying the food because I had heard that it was good. The staff that took our order was kind. The food menu gave options of different combinations. We chose combination a for both of our meals. I ordered double charmaine and the steamed vegetables. The other order was chow, main rice and orange chicken. We found a table and had a seat. And when we got our food, the first thing we noticed, was when we opened the takeout box container to eat, was an odor of something being overcooked like a kind of charred smell. After taking our first bite, it was noticeably that the chomain had like a burnt smell and taste. I don't know if this is the way they normally cook.Their noodle, or if they had actually overcooked it, and just was serving it? I tried putting soy sauce on it to try to see if that made it better. It did not. The Orange Chicken was just okay. The vegetables were okay, but I basically threw the entire container in the trash after eating a few of the vegetables. I did not tell the attendant anything about the taste of the food or our experience. I was just too mentally exhausted that day to post a complaint and try to figure out what else I could order. So sad to say everything I had heard about this place was completely wrong. The food is not good at all.And I will never return. So my suggestion is, if you want fast Chinese food, there's a place up the street that is way better. And skip this, its obvious whoever is preparing the food isnt really concerned about quality or flavor.
