    Shrimp menu

We didn't need a full meal, but we needed something. It was one of those days where we had a late lunch. Now it was early evening. If we had a full meal, a good night's rest would be out of the question. We were near Bakersfield College and I remembered a little Chinese place my Dad took us some10-15 years ago. We stopped in. It didn't look like the place changed much. There was the enormous aquarium in the entry giving the place an interesting ambiance. The staff seated us quickly. Our server took our order - Honey Walnut Shrimp. It was the perfect portion we were looking for. The shrimp was tender and the honey and walnuts added a pleasant flavor. There was a good serving of steamed rice. We enjoyed our plate and promised ourselves it would not take another decade to return and try a full meal.

Good portions, spicy and tasty. I ordered the lunch special so it came with an egg flower soup which was good too. The crunchy noodles were a little over toasted.

Came here after a long run on a weekend and we were immediately seated. All the food on their menu sounded really good and they have reasonably priced lunch and dinner plates. Meals come with soup, egg roll, fried rice, and noodles. I found my shrimp meal a bit dry but the rest of my companions' meals were really flavorful! And if they say spicy sauce, they mean it. A little goes a long way! Will be back for sure!

Pork in Pork Chop W/ Peking Sauce

Jay continues to perfect the recipes. Seafood soup. Put white pepper and some hot sauce in the soup for mouth explosions. Pork with Peking. So good with white rice. Service is solid

We absolutely love the food here and this is our go to meal. Spicy shrimp with fried rice. The service was great and were greeted and seated right away. It was really slow when we visited. It was really quiet tv was on but not loud like other places. Restaurant was very clean.

I've been going to Lam's ever since I moved to Bakersfield. This spot has the best authentic Chinese sit down food to date. If you want real stuff and not Panda Express or those standard to go places around the corner then this would be your destination. They have everything! Claypot dishes, noodle dishes, rice dishes, you name it. You can taste the "wok hay" from all of their food. One thing to note is you should finish all of your food right then and there because heating any of this up will not be as appetizing! I always love having crunchy house chow mein whenever I get Chinese. This is just the way to go. Always 10/10 as the noodles slowly softens, but make sure you finish it all as left overs as I've previously mentioned. Reheated soft noodles are not it! The beef clay pot was so savory! You can taste the generous mound of five spice they put in there. Always order a veggie dish such as stir fried green beans or eggplants to soften the heavy savory flavors. I would go here much more often if it was in a more accessible part of town. Lam's is a Bakersfield hidden gem!

The hot and spicy shrimp is just the way I remember it over 30 years ago. Happy to revisit this Bakersfield classic! Grateful the most recent owner kept the Lam family recipes!

Hometown East side staple. Heard about it for years and somehow hadn't gone in. Boy am I glad Hubby and I did today. Old school family restaurant decor, plenty of space for diners. Ladies greeting and waiting on us were helpful, welcoming and kind. It was a cool afternoon, so I had to try the Congee available on the weekends. We opted for the Chicken. It was a dream. Smooth silky and creamy rice porridge. White meat chicken, with mushrooms, topped with some chopped green onions. Comfort food deliciousness. We shared some paper wrapped chicken. Little packets of tasty seasoned chicken. So good. Rounded out our meal with the Hot and spicy pork chops. Amazing. Delicate crisp exterior tossed in a salt and pepper spiced seasoning with green onions and what I think is a pepper oil. The pork and Congee alone are destination, crave worthy dishes. We ended up order a to go order of the Congee because I wanted it for later. Looking forward to our next trip and trying new to us dishes. Thank you Lam's for our wonderful lunch.

The pan fried dumplings were fine, although the filling was reddish colored with little spice. Added the dumpling sauce, reluctantly, because the containers did not look recently cleaned. My most favorite dish, House Special Shrimp, was way off. It looked and tasted like Sweet and Sour Shrimp. The vinegar taste was strong, overwhelming any taste but sweetness. It used to have a savory brown glaze, garlic and mild spiciness. This dish did not. We also had garlic chicken, which was probably the best dish we ordered. Our plate had a few pieces of thinly sliced chicken, but the majority of chicken we were served were 'bits.' Hard to tell the minced garlic from the chicken bits. The fresh onion and bell peppers were great, but cut too big and overwhelmed the chicken bits. Prices at restaurants have gone up, up, up! Now we're being charged for tea & white rice that had been included in every meal for the last 40+ years?!?! Last but not least!, the floors are dirty and there's dust everywhere. place is dusty & dirty. I don't recall it ever being this dirty. I was looking forward to the House Special Shrimp and a delicious Chinese meal. I was very disappointed

This time the son and I decided to dine in and the food was borderline spoiled, nothing tasted fresh and it wasn't hot, nor warm. Our food was borderline cold. The interior was dusty and in need of attention, especially the fake plants. Though spacious when we entered there wasn't a soul in the place, which was a red flag, but per usuh we brought people. I'm not sure if our food was so nasty because we ordered a lunch special and they reserve what's going bad for those orders because the other four families dining in didn't seem to be having the same experience. What saved this review from being a 1 star review and the only reason I didn't complain to the waitress about the quality of the food is because the only server was elderly and unable to pick up her feet and my very gracious son said to lig, so I did, but it appears if the couple who runs the restaurant doesn't get some help soon they may need to close their doors.

Heard about this place on IG... So I thought I would give it a try. I was super excited to go in…read moreand try since the review on IG sounded like the food was amazing. The place is like your standard Chinese takeout restaurant, where you have premade dishes, ready to be served with white rice, fried rice, or chow mein noodles. The menu has standard items such as orange chicken, general, chicken, chicken, teriyaki, honey, walnut, shrimp, honey, chicken, mushroom chicken, and so. They also offer egg rolls, cream, cheese, wontons, and soup. What stands out about this place is that they offer a catering menu, unlike some of the other homegrown Chinese takeout places. The restaurant itself is very clean although had a strong smell of Fabuloso and the tables in the floors were a bit sticky. They have one singular bathroom and it was clean. The person who took my order was very nice, friendly, and professional. She was very eager to give me a taste of the entrées in case I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat and I thought that was very cool. I purchased a bowl with half fried rice and half chow mein, and one entrée. For my entrée chose the honey shrimp. my meal came with a fountain drink so that was good. The entrée is $9.99 however, because I got the shrimp, it was a little bit extra. I wish I had gone when the IG people were there doing their reel... Because my food didn't taste anything like how they described it. The honey shrimp was very tasty and the shrimp was cooked perfectly however, every now and then I would get a huge puffy piece. I was not impressed with the fried rice nor the chow mein. I was expecting it to have a wok-seared flavor, like how it was described by the couple doing the reel on IG. For me, it was very plain, in fact, at one point, I thought the chow mein noodles were spaghetti noodles. While the meal satisfied my hunger, since it was dinner time, I likely will not be going back... Sorry, peeps I still have not found good Chinese food in Bakersfield. I hope you have a different experience, and if you do, enjoy!
