Orange chicken and small serving of rice
    Cyndi W.

We've been wanting to try china cuisine for a long time after reading all the reviews online. I picked up my grandson from school and we went for an early dinner. We got there too early for the buffet. I was craving old style chow mein with crunchy noodles which I knew was on their menu. My grandson ordered the orange chicken which comes with rice. The sauce and crispiness was wonderful. He loved the first couple of bites. But afterwards said he was having a little bit of an aftertaste, he said it wasn't bad. But he liked it, and it was a nice large serving, not greasy, nice and crispy and the sauce was very good. They gave him a very small bowl of steamed rice to go with his orange chicken. I ordered one of the individual dinners that had chow mein, fried rice and sweet and sour pork. The chow mein was delicious. Just what I was craving. The fried rice was mushy. The sweet and sour pork had a very tasty sauce on it and was nice and crispy, but the meat was very tough and dry. I didn't eat the sweet and sour pork or the fried rice. I had enough chow mein left over to take home for later. They don't serve soup before the dinner or include an egg roll, like many other chinese restaurants do. They also add a 3.50% charge if you use a card to pay. The booths were comfortable and they have plenty of seating. I would like to go back and try the ribeye steak which everybody raves about but the next time, for chinese food, I'll stay local.

The best for rib eyes here in the valley. Posted on Facebook our last time there and got over 156 likes, so with that said, they are the best! The Chinese food is very very good, buffet on Fridays. The burgers are outstanding, let's just say never a bad meal there. Scottie the owner is a real kick, he can be a real joker at times. Service is excellent

Wonderful local spot well worth the drive from Bakersfield. Established in 1989. Survived a fire in 2005. Came back serving all their best dishes, and still going today. Spacious open dining room, with touches of Chinese decor. The owner is so kind. Always welcoming and friendly, bantering with all the locals. Service with a smile and a laugh here and there. The food is always spot on. Their not so secret specialty is a nice big juicy ribeye. Cooked to order served with your choice of side, a salad bar and toasted bread. Seasoning delicious served on a hot plate. Tender and juicy. My E dinner had so much food. Sweet and sour pork always a favorite, with ribs, fried shrimp, Chow mein and fried rice. Large portions and plenty for my midnight craving or lunch tomorrow. Great spot, so glad to have a family owned place service their community. See you next time

In Our Second Visit to this Shafter Fixture Since 1989, We Discovered Even More Delicious Entrées! I can't even begin to explain how amazing this place is, so I'll let my photos and captions speak for me. As Rod Stewart and Faces asked, "Every Picture Tells a Story, Don't It,?, the answer is yes and Whooo!!! This place rocks!!!

Heard about this place on IG... So I thought I would give it a try. I was super excited to go in…read moreand try since the review on IG sounded like the food was amazing. The place is like your standard Chinese takeout restaurant, where you have premade dishes, ready to be served with white rice, fried rice, or chow mein noodles. The menu has standard items such as orange chicken, general, chicken, chicken, teriyaki, honey, walnut, shrimp, honey, chicken, mushroom chicken, and so. They also offer egg rolls, cream, cheese, wontons, and soup. What stands out about this place is that they offer a catering menu, unlike some of the other homegrown Chinese takeout places. The restaurant itself is very clean although had a strong smell of Fabuloso and the tables in the floors were a bit sticky. They have one singular bathroom and it was clean. The person who took my order was very nice, friendly, and professional. She was very eager to give me a taste of the entrées in case I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat and I thought that was very cool. I purchased a bowl with half fried rice and half chow mein, and one entrée. For my entrée chose the honey shrimp. my meal came with a fountain drink so that was good. The entrée is $9.99 however, because I got the shrimp, it was a little bit extra. I wish I had gone when the IG people were there doing their reel... Because my food didn't taste anything like how they described it. The honey shrimp was very tasty and the shrimp was cooked perfectly however, every now and then I would get a huge puffy piece. I was not impressed with the fried rice nor the chow mein. I was expecting it to have a wok-seared flavor, like how it was described by the couple doing the reel on IG. For me, it was very plain, in fact, at one point, I thought the chow mein noodles were spaghetti noodles. While the meal satisfied my hunger, since it was dinner time, I likely will not be going back... Sorry, peeps I still have not found good Chinese food in Bakersfield. I hope you have a different experience, and if you do, enjoy!

I also had the 3 entree combination with rice, chow mein, two servings of Kung Pau Chicken and an order of Garlic Chicken. The food was good, but not spicy as it was claimed to be. There was a big lack of spice and that was the main reason I ordered those options. Service was fast and good. There was little atmosphere at the place, however it was quite and clean. I do recommend this place, at least if you want great egg rolls and non spicy food.

The chow main is surprisingly really delicious not oily at all. The rice is so dry. My steamed rice you can tell was hitting the bottom of the pot. I will say the white rice taste better than the fried rice. I'm seriously confused as to why the reviews on here suggested I'd get the orange chicken because it is definitely not it and it tastes burnt, not overcooked but burnt. Another reason behind the low review is because I'd rather have a spork, spoon or fork rather than getting a dry cookie. They also charge for condiments which is baffling to me beacuse their rice needs some moisture and flavor which would be handled by the soy sauce. This was my first time trying this place and I'm not going back. The beef and broccoli is so chewy and the texture feels like it's coated with loads of flour. Broccoli is so hard and bland. The items I had to pay an dollar extra which were Shrimp and bbq came in a tiny container, I pay more but get less okay. I'll stick to Hummus Express .

We waited for a little bit for them to clear off a table and were seated quickly. It's a simple layout inside. They have enough seating to nicely fill the space. And a TV hung up that was playing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie at the time, which was fun to have on. The service at this restaurant was fantastic! Our server was very attentive, sweet, and made sure to check in on us at different points during our meal. The great thing about the meal is that it's family style! We ordered the yellow curry and the pineapple fried rice. When the meal came out, they handed us separate plates for each of us to serve the portion we wanted. I only experienced a couple of negatives when it came to the food and that was: 1. The yellow curry was so delicious and had a nice coco-nutty flavor, but it felt like a few too many potatoes and not enough chicken. 2. The pineapple fried rice lacked pineapple. I love a few pineapple chunks in my fried rice but this had more of the pineapple flavoring and none of the actual fruit. Now, these aren't as much negatives as they are dish preferences. Everything still tasted solid and we left with our Thai food craving satisfied! Btw, make sure when you visit not to sleep on their dessert. The dessert is the best part! I absolutely love their sweet sticky rice with coconut ice cream. They add peanuts on top of it and it's incredible. Definitely go and check them out!

We ordered the pot stickers, stir-fried green beans, BBQ pork bao buns, spicy popcorn chicken, and soup dumplings, and honestly, there wasn't much to complain about! The spicy popcorn chicken was delightfully crispy and paired perfectly with the chili crisp sauce. I also loved that they had several sauces already on the table: dumpling sauce, soy sauce, and sesame oil, so you can customize each bite. The stir-fried green beans had a slightly sweet brown sugar flavor, and the dried Thai chilis they were fried with added a nice layer of flavor and just the right amount of heat. The soup dumplings were good, as were the BBQ pork bao buns, but my favorite of everything we ordered was definitely the pot stickers. You could really tell these were made with fresh wonton wrappers rather than the frozen, mass-produced ones you often find in grocery stores. They had that perfect combination of crispiness on the bottom while remaining soft around the sides. They were also sturdy enough to poke a little hole in them and let the dumpling sauce ooze right into those little pockets. The staff were super friendly, too. It seemed like every person working there checked in on us at some point to make sure we were doing well, which made the experience feel genuinely welcoming.
