We were meeting family for a small get together a party of six. It was a Friday night and we had a reservation for 6 PM. We arrived and we're seated immediately. Our server, Paul, came and got our drink orders right away. A few minutes later, we ordered our food. My wife and I were going to split the Kung pow chicken and have a skewer of sushi. The chicken dish came out right away. But, we were a little disappointed that not everybody's food came out at the same time. Not being familiar with the menu, I didn't realize that our dish came with white rice. The rice was brought out about halfway through our consumption of the Kung pow chicken. We were at a rectangular table, which made conversation among six a little bit challenging. As the evening got busier, the place got loud, but never extremely so. Do you want bubbles in your birthday cake? If so, this is the place for you! The marketing person for this idea needs to stick to amusement parks or night clubs. Not a restaurant! This isn't a joke. Each birthday cake celebration is greeted by an employee blowing bubbles out of a wand onto your dinner table! It looks pretty tacky and doesn't fit with the restaurant's ambiance. All jokes aside, the kung pao shrimp was delicious. The honey chicken, not so much. And the crispy green beans are still on point after all these years of being on the menu. I think we will be back. Food was tasty; both entrees were served very quickly, but the food was warm at best, and portions were big kid-size, not adult-size. Overall review: disappointed with the food -- good deal, but didn't compare to the always fresh Panda Express meals. The main reason I stopped going to P.F. Changs 10 years ago was because of mediocrity, and giving them a chance in 2025, the mediocrity of the food is the reason I won't go back. I mentioned the mediocrity of the food and the portions to my wife, and she agreed. This place was empty when we went on a Saturday evening, and that's pretty much unheard of for most restaurants in Bakersfield. After dinner, when I drove by the Panda Express, the drive-thru was full. I'm not quite sure what P.F. Changs should do, but serving the customer warm chicken and rice when there are only five or six couples in the whole restaurant isn't the best business practice to keep them coming in. The staff on all levels--from the greeter, server, waiter, and bartender--were all outstanding. Just to compare, a hot three-item combo at Panda Express will run you about $14, and the food is always good, and so much easier. A sit-down dinner at a beautiful establishment like P.F. This was our 1st visit and we enjoyed our meal. Service was amazing as we were seated right away and then greeted by our waiter. We got on this visit the chef family meal for 2. Service was outstanding and food was good. The hot and sour soup was really delicious and didn't get over powered with the ginger that was in it. We enjoyed the pork dumplings. Plenty of flavor and seasoned perfectly. Beef and broccoli was good too. Meat was tender and the broccoli was cooked just right. If you get this dish as your entree it will have an up charge. Chang's spicy chicken was really good too. I loved this dish. The chef's feast came with your choice of white or brown and for a up charge you can upgrade to fried rice. The fried rice was a little mushy and needs a little more flavoring but overall we enjoyed our food. It was pretty noisy due to it being the dinner rush but it wasn't loud that you couldn't hear your conversations. They also had bar specials till 7pm with $10 appetizers. Honestly, pretty good! I went to a P.F. Chang's location in Los Angeles, before remembering we actually had one here. (A quick note, I'm a fellow Celiac. I cannot eat gluten period.) I went here for my birthday last year, and the service was incredible. When my lemonade was a bit too strong and too sweet she brought me another drink of my choice. Staff were very thorough and accommodating for my gluten-free needs. Including mentioning glove changes and different pans to avoid cross contamination. The ambiance was nice too. Came here for a quick happy hour. It was 5pm midweek and surprised that there were hardly any customers. If I remember correctly, there was a couple of ladies in the big dining room. There was an employee at the far end of the restaurant in a chef's coat that was just standing around chatting with my server. They were running a Mother's Day special this week. I chose the Sparkling Paloma. It was a subtle drink with a slight tang. For apps, I kept it easy and simple. I chose the crab rangoon and the steamed dumplings. Server said that the kitchen ran out of dumplings so they had to make fresh one, and so I was patient. Deep fried Rangoon came out first. It would have been nice to be asked if I wanted the sweet spicy sauce on the side. The sauce on the plate was sloppy but soaked the rangoons and completely lost their crisp texture. I waited more than 15 minutes for the dumplings. It finally came but again, only to find them sitting on top of the chili garlic sauce. They must've rushed through making the dumplings as some did not hold their shape and was opening at the seams. P.F. Chang's is not really a place suited for happy hour. Their menu has not changed and more suited for an a la carte dinner option. There's BJ's across the way and Yardhouse is but a few yards away. read more

First the good- food was delicious! My party of 9 tried several things: salt and pepper shrimp (even those who didn't like spicy enjoyed them!) Mongolian beef- yum! Chow mein, not impressed, but good, lettuce wraps-super yummy! Orange chicken- ok. Honey chicken- great! Pad Thai- not a dish I like, so I didn't try it, but everyone else seemed to like it. Restaurant was clean, a bit worn, but the atmosphere with the giant hanging lantern lights is impressive and relaxing! Service stared well, but got worse as it got busy. Eventually it seemed our waitress was never coming back! I took soooooo very long to get refills. 5 of our glasses were empty for more than 10 minutes, even with asking for more drinks. When it was time to pay the bill, which INCLUDED GRATUTITY, it took a long time to get the receipt back to sign. How long would you think is a long time? 10min? 15 min? Even 20 minutes is ridiculous, but it took 33mins!! I understand it was understaffed, but she never said or did anything to apologize or make up for it. When we left others in my party, who literally never complain made comments about being "released" and "escaping". I forget about P.F. Chang's honestly. We saw a commercial for happy hour; and we made it a point to go. The bar area is a good size; not too crowded if you go early; patio seating also available. They have decent drinks for $5 and appetizers for $5 as well; since this check in; the appetizer price has increased to $10; but it's all day everyday. Service is good. Went to have dinner here, it had been a long while. I was very glad to return to see that the quality of food is wonderful. The hostess acknowledged and seated us promptly and it was just a few minutes after being seated our beverage order was taken. I always heard that Pf Chang's food was special. At California's PF Chang in Bakersfield, my meal was just mediocre. Maybe the chef had an off-night. I don't know, and I'm not sure I would go back to give him a second chance. We had three Chefs Feast specials. My hot and sour soup was a little too oily. The pan-fried HandmadePork Dumplings had a very oily mild chili sauce on it. Without the sauce, the dumplings were standard and good. I would have preferred the chili oil sauce to be on the side for dipping. The Ma Po Tofu dish was tough. I have never eaten tuff or dry tofu before. The Mongolian Beef was chewy. The only thing that I liked was the Crispy Honey Shrimp. The dish was sweet, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The batter was light and crunchy. I had better meals with some of the local Chinese take-outs or the Chinese dishes in my supermarket's frozen food section than with this PF Chang meal. Finally, the restaurant tries to cheat you on the final check with a deceitful suggested tip amount. California's Pf Chang in Bakersfield recommends a 20% tip of $31.66 on a check of $106.97. If you use a calculator, the tip is $21.39. Their recommended 20% is actually 29.6%. I would be careful when using any restaurant's suggested tip. read more

Second try for this place. No better than the first one. Not going back. Limited menu with outrageous prices. The 8.99 cocktail was good, but that was it. I've had the eggrolls before and know that they are terrible so this time I tried the wonton soup for a starter. Tasty wontons but in no way like the real thing. Mongolian trio has virtually no sauce to it and the shrimp are tiny, not like you would imagine. Rice was cold. Food came out way too fast while I was still eating the soup. Long winded, you're forewarned. Our family stopped by to have an early dinner... this around 3:30pm on July 30th, 2025. We entered the lobby, the place was quiet, and noted especially so: there wasn't any receiving host staff at the front desk when we entered and there were only three parties dining in the main area, but someone showed up in under 2 mins to take us to our dining table. So, notably and mentioned, the dining area of unoccupied tables and space was palpable, where comparing years back situationally, summer, mid-day... was still odd. We were led in to the first booth, there where appetizer sized plates already on the table, but no eating utensils were there... the combo, though not unreasonable, was odd as the host/hostess bringing folks in would have handled that - but not the case that day, apparently. Pausing the review, I have to say now that we live close by, and have been going to this particular restaurant, on and off, for nearly a decade, this in addition to patronizing the chain in different cities and states for over 25 years, so we're familiar with the brand, and familiar with the changes locally, especially those since the onset of Covid moving forward. Most recently, we at the Atlanta Airport PFC which was a great experience. Having said this, comparatively, the overall presentation of the local restaurant signals "downward" and "struggling" to us, this a continual, gradual over those last few years, sad, but painfully obvious. So to continue the review, we were seated. Server is nice and prompt. She took our drink order, and we ordered appetizers... a double order of potstickers; the dinner order was done at this time. Drinks took a hot minute to show up, considering the lack of diner traffic, it seemed a while. Pot stickers came, we dug in and they seemed heated, then sat, then reheated to fill our order. The noodle portion of the potstickers dense, like dry-dense; not moist like they had been in times past. Of note, we had to ask for utensils after the appetizer was delivered. Moving forward, we had ordered two entrees: Mongolian Beef and Crispy Honey Chicken; we also ordered a chicken lo/chow mein. This essentially is our "PFC regular order". We dug in and signs of already warmed, then rewarmed food, at least for the lo mein and Crispy Chicken, was present. The lo mein's chicken was dry, like overcooked dry, sitting under a salamander dry as the noodles were not moust, but again, kind of overcooked-dehydrated presenting. The Crispy Chicken's serving portion was noticeably small, where the bed of white rice noodles they were on was voluminous in comparison and the chicken/sauce combo was oldish, with the sauce being oddly a different color, tasting much like raw honey added onto the plate after a sauce was prepared, and this was atypical for the dish. This was my wife's order and she took one bite, pushing it away. Adding insult to the dining experience? The square "appetizer" plates that were on the table before we arrived? They were the dinner plates for the whole meal. My rant: lThose plates are small, too smallish for the purpose of sharing dinner entrées as the dining style suggests. Now, this isn't a local thing: the PFC at the ATL had the same plates and just a weird change at the brand level that I don't support as a patron - personal choice. End rant. The only entree that turned out was the Mongolian Beef, but it was in smallish proportion, like the chicken, as well. Serving size seems a crapshoot compared to years past and I've no idea what dictates the randomness of what one receives after the order. So, for the privilege of eating very average Chinese, early dinner dine-in, we paid $106 plus change, adding to that the tip. To me, the cost is not worth the experience, at least at this chain PFC locally. Food had the texture and taste of being "old", on top of being expensive for what you get in the first place, and the chain itself seems to split its retail between the restaurant and the take-out/pick-up business for folks wishing to have food delivered. The service suggests this as does the quality and quantity of the food provided - but I think this is the world we now live in. For the price though, the dine-in experience could have been better, or at least par with what they used to be, perhaps an unreasonable expectation on my behalf. Skip? Give it another try? P.F.Chang's is always a treat. The flavors are just amazing! The severs are always friendly. Attentiveness can be hit and miss when it comes to refills, but the food makes up for that. For me personally, it's the only restaurant in town where I can get my favorite Asian dishes, gluten free. Part of the gluten free menu includes Chicken Fried Rice, Mongolian Beef, Beef w/Broccoli, and Chang's Spicy Chicken. If you want to order one of those items GF, be sure to specify you want it gluten free, or it won't be. The GF items will be served on a white dish rather than the usual black one. Our server last night was very attentive and friendly. He made sure everything was right. He was extra thoughtful. My daughter wanted fruit as her side for the kids meal, and said she hoped it was a lot of fruit. Well the server was paying attention and brought her a lot of fruit! He noticed our Disney attire and took the time to talk to us about our trip to Disneyland. He was just so nice! Besides the great service, again, the food is just amazing! My absolute favorite is Chang's Spicy Chicken. It is so full of flavor!!! It's similar to Orange Chicken you would get at places like Panda Express, but I think it's better. To start off let me say that our waiter took really good care of us. I've been to several PF Changs from San Diego to Manhattan Beach. Usually the food was always really good. This time, at this PF Changs all of the food missed the mark. It's like the quality of the ingredients were suffering. The sauces were all very sweet and single note. The proteins were all heavily breaded. The best dish was the crab Rangoon appetizer. I will give the benefit of the doubt as we arrived an hour before closing.and/or maybe the chef was having an off day. They literally have one of the best egg flower soups I have ever tasted in a Chinese restaurant. It may be a chain, but they do have some great choices such as the Mongolian Beef. nice ambiance and a good sitting. Our server was polite and helpful. It was a sad night at the restaurant. Like four tables at 7:00. Went for the special we saw advertised earlier. Two for $20 a person...it was more than that at this location. Oh well...but this review is about the food and service...Paul was solid as a server. He only had a couple of tables. The food was fair, at best. Paul got them the third star. My soup was cold, the side salad was difficult to eat in the bowl they served it in. I got fried rice, it came out cold. The noodles were good but would have benefited from more mushrooms. I am shocked that I haven't written a review for P.F. Chang's yet. This is my go to place when we are looking for some gluten free Chinese food. The menu consists of various items that have a Gluten Free Option (GFO). You can pick from entrees, soups, appetizers, etc and they all have GFOs. You can distinguish the GFO orders because they are brought out on a white plate, whereas the regular options are brought out on black plates. Just a little reassurance that the dish you're receiving is indeed gluten free. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes it's great and the place is dead - other times it's loud and busy and service is slow. Bonus - they have $5 glass of white or red one and it's actually pretty decent red wine. read more

Wow This place has gone downhill. We ordered online and picked it up with in 10 minutes. We were surprised by the speed our order was ready. But once we got home it became obvious how. Everything was premade and waiting in the kitchen under a warmer. Our Mapo Tofu that used to be my favorite dish was a pile of mush all stuck together in a clump With no flavor. Our pepper steak was like jerky and the shrimp dumplings were cold. The only decent items were the lettuce wrap and crab wontons. I ordered the Chef's Feast and was really disappointed. I only took one bite of the egg soup and the lettuce wrap appetizer -- both were unpleasant, with strange seasoning I couldn't get past. The spicy chicken was the most tolerable part, but it was too hot to eat more than a few bites. I even asked for teriyaki sauce to cool it down, but the flavors clashed badly. At that point, I gave up. I hardly ate anything and didn't even bother with dessert because I didn't trust it. For what I paid, it felt like a complete waste.
