I enjoyed the choices I had to choose as there were different cuisines including dessert. The cost was $25 per person for dinner. I believe the lady said $20 per person for lunch. Jade Buffet, formerly known as Sakura, may not be the newest or most polished place in town yes, the décor is dated, the koi pond could use some attention, and it can get pretty crowded but in my opinion, that's missing the point. This isn't a Michelin-rated restaurant; it's an affordable buffet, and for the price, it delivers exactly what you hope for. During my visit, I saw trays of food being consistently replenished and staff quickly bussing tables, which kept things moving smoothly despite the crowd. The variety was impressive, so many dishes that I could only try a fraction of them in one sitting. Everything I had was fresh, tasty, and satisfying for the value. This wasn't the most pleasant dining experience. This restaurant was formerly known as Super King Buffet, then Sakura Buffet, and now Jade Buffet. However, there's still the unlit "Welcome to Super King Buffet" light and the table notes and napkin holders both have "Sakura Staff" or "Jade Staff" on them. Their uniforms say "Sakura Buffet" too. The ambiance and consistency could use improvement. Upon entering, there's the cashier and a koi fountain. The fountain is in desperate need of cleaning. The algae has consumed the entirety of it. You must walk up to the counter to pay and then seat yourself-- good luck. It's a bit difficult to navigate the restaurant when customers are frequently up and out of their seats. I feel like the amount of traffic could be better handled by having a staff member guide you to your seat. The food is okay. Every dish is just like any other buffet. One special thing about this place is that a noodle chef can cook noodles for you, but the line is pretty long, so I didn't bother. read more

Don't go here. I was ready to get my plate when a cockroach comes out from the food where you serve yourself. I tried to tell the lady that was out there putting food out, but she did not understand me. Cockroach was too fast for me to take a picture. I went to the cashier front and demanding my money back. My family and I were looking for a new restaurant to try out so we were walking in with pretty low expectations. I can confidentially say that these expectations were definitely surpassed. The food not only tasted great but the trays were also being constantly refilled with fresh contents. As a sushi lover, I was more than pleased with the all you can eat sushi bar. When you walk in, if your lucky you will be greeted by a lovely young lady with tattoos. She's sweet and probably the best thing about this place besides the koi fish. First and foremost the buffet pricing isn't as noticeable as it could be and frankly it's pretty expensive compared to other buffet style restaurants. The giant koi are pretty neat to see. The place inside has plenty of seating, however when we went it was packed and they had a lot of sections closed off. The food, as my daughter put was "mid", but the shrimp pasta was "bussin". Or in other words, most of the food offered was okay and the shrimp pasta was tasty. Garlic bread was also good as well as the pot stickers. They had food rotating in and a chowmein grill station. Not all foods had labels so sometimes it was a guess as to what your eating. I think they shouldn't claim to have the best food in town. Maybe like the okay-est choice if your by yourself and everywhere else is full. Obviously other people like it and that is just fine. The main reason for the stars was the stir fry that you can get prepared by the chef. It's almost like this salad bar but for chow mien/pad thai type of noodles that you prepare yourself. All different meats, veggies and noodles and once done, you give it to the chef to cook it in front of you. The buffet food is okay, I had a few of the different options including fish, chicken, fried rice, french fries, and most of the typical buffet items. I do remember the wings being over cooked. None of the food was really special but for a buffet, it's a buffet. The server/bust boy in the area cleaned plates very often and kept it nice looking in the area. Overall I didn't like the outdated decor and lack of beverage options. This isn't a place I would've gone to on my own, I came with a friend. Used to come here with the family every couple months. Once the crab started to disappear it wasn't as exciting. But wasn't too bad still after all and the price stayed reasonable. Haven't been back and maybe a year. The setup and entryway has changed I think for the better. Probably to accommodate more people and to reduce the number of people probably sneaking in and out. The price has now gone up to about $22 per person at least Friday evening. Thanks for now included which I guess works if you want drinks. If you don't want drinks then you get the added cost. There is entirely way too many people for the amount of staff. Also the quality of food is lower. Things like ribs or refrigerator cold as well as a shrimp. Food items at least look like they were getting filled regularly . Stuff like California rolls were still not too bad. Ice cream a nice addition still. Lots of families with crying babies. A bus load of tourists of probably 30 people also entered. Which added to the already crowded business. My wife and I had to walk around to look for a spot and eventually asked a waitress who opened up a section for us. That filled up quickly. Quality of service and food I think is going to drop if not already. Entirely too many people for the staff. I feel bad for the koi fish. Lots of hands being stuck in the water that we're not the cleanest. Watermelon was warm like it was sitting in the 100° Sun before being put into service. Last time we ate here was October 2023, the place was very busy, the food was much better. This place has changed names, it is now called Jade buffet, and really took a turn for the worse. The cocktail sauce appeared a dull red, like it had been frozen, then thawed so I skipped it, didn't chance it. Nothing seemed to taste good. It's been awhile since we had a Chinese buffet and this one was right down the street. It was over priced ($83 1 adult / 4 kids) for the quality of the food and the selection. The coconut chicken was pretty tasty and the thin white egg fried noodles were solid. The jalapeño chicken.was good as well. The Philly roll sushi was standard. I chose this place because there were pics of crab legs on Yelp, but there was a big sign saying "No Crab Legs". The place was packed, but we found a table for 5 quickly. I was in this part of Bakersfield for a week for a job and came to this buffet many times for lunch and dinner because I could walk there from my motel. They were not so good on the off hours but for prime time lunch and dinner this buffet is worth every penny. Sakura's sushi rolls are delicious and the crab is the main reason why I came. The staff are very friendly and not stingy with refills or taking your plates. I've been to some buffets where you almost get chased out of. Sakura's pricing is affordable. It was between this and Panda Express/Chinese bistro... I should've opted for the latter options. The food did not sit right in my stomach at all, and the sushi bar is so underwhelming. Was traveling in California on company business and found myself in a depressing hotel room in Bakersfield. Yelped the closest Chinese buffet and came up with Sakura. Maybe I ignored all of the 1 and 2 star reviews because it' has the same bane as one of my favorite Chinese buffets in New Jersey. Either way- I opted to try it out. Sakura is one of these "pay before you eat" places. Okay- whatevs. Now- granted- it WAS 7pm on a Sunday evening but... 90% of the food trays were empty. What was left was.... Pathetic. Everything was cold, soggy, and drenched in sweet greasy sauce. To top it all off, a 20-ish waitress walked up to my table and asked me "Can I see your receipt?" about 90% of the way through my (mistake) meal. I asked her why- and she said "just checking." I looked at my $12,000 watch and asked her if she was serious. "Yes- I need to see it." As I held the receipt out in front of her face I said "that's pretty fucked up customer relations." They need to really update their look in there because it looks very mistreated and worn down. The stir fry noodles were good that's where you take it to the chef and he mixes it all for you, the pizza was good, also the egg rolls were decent. The crab cakes I do not recommend neither the broccoli and beef. I don't understand all the negative reviews with Sakura Buffet unless you're agoraphobic and hate noise. It's a busy and loud Chinese buffet moving out a lot of food each hour. There's plenty of selection on Sunday, most items were hot and the table and plates got removed quickly. I feel bad for the busboy-girls because the customer base don't understand tipping for quickly removing plates. The ice cream machine is still broken as of Sunday August 21, 2022. That s was mad good, people say its busy on weekends but i went there like around 8 and there was lots of seats open idk, food good but there was some stuff i wish were there but there wasnt. I think there are seats for families up to ten cause i saw a big ah family walk in and they sat right beside us n that table had around 8-10 seats. We have a tradition on Christmas Day that we go to a Chinese buffet for dinner. We have got to Sakura Buffet for several years now and not had any issues but last night as soon as I ate the orange chicken I knew something was off. I felt sick almost immediately. I continued to feel ill the remainder of the evening and developed diarrhea. My daughter, who also ate the orange chicken, started vomiting around 11 pm. I would say that we both got food poisoning from here. We will NEVER be returning to Sakura! read more
