The restaurant wasn't packed only A few people although the owner First off warned us that the food Takes time to cook it's fresh..but Expected no less it did take a lot of Time and Mango Haus know it.. They should bring to the table.. Fresh bread and perhaps an olive Spread for it.. I want them to succeed in their Business and the waiting for the Food when you are hungry is not Right they must have something That comes to the table beside's Fresh water.. This was the first time eating here since the name change from Prohibition to Mango Haus. I was able to meet my friends and fellow Yelpers, Patrick and Bett. It wasn't busy when I arrived, just 3 other tables of people. They were short-staffed with only one cook, so it took awhile to get our food. We weren't in a hurry; it gave us time to visit. We all ordered smash burgers, and you had the choice of regular fries, sweet potato fries, or a salad. We each picked one so we could share. The food was delicious. The overall feel and first impression is great! This place is clean and has an upscale appearance. Great vibe, good temperature, decor is on point! Service is calm and even paced. Great selection and very accommodating for allergies. The tea has great flavor, very fresh. The Aperol Spritzer I got is well balanced and very good! This is the second review I leave on here and unfortunately, it's another bad one. I ordered a simple pesto pasta. Waited 30 minutes for it to come out COLD. I asked them to reheat and it came out WARM. For it to be an almost $30 pasta. I would expect more. But it was terrible. The ambiance is nice but the food and drinks are just not good. :/ read more

I took my wife, kids, and in-laws here during one of their visits, and it was such a refreshing surprise. Once you step inside, the ambiance feels nothing like the typical Tehachapi restaurant. It's got more of a modern, upscale lounge vibe that really stands out in this town. Definitely a hidden gem. The food was top notch, and I appreciated that they even took reservations over the phone, which made planning easier with a group. Service was smooth, and everything from start to finish felt thoughtful. After a long week of work the Wife and I wanted to try something new for dinner. So we came here and right when we walked in we were greeted immediately. They sat us down at a nice table and gave us water immediately. They also took our drink orders, the Wife got a dirty martini and I got a root beer soda. The appetizer was garlic fries with a creamy Alfredo sauce. I ordered the 202 burger with fries which was wrapped in bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled onions as well. The Wife got their steak dinner with roasted potatoes with a balsamic vinaigrette sauce. Everything was really delicious and the service was top notch. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere with a bar area or a dining area, you choose. We will definitely be coming back to try other menu items. It was hard to choose what to get. It took forever to get our food, and still some of the orders were not correct. The restaurant was empty, so I do not understand the wait time. We came specifically to taste the Master Chef's food. I can say since she has come, the presentation of food is beautiful and the new recipes are delicious. I just wish the wait time was less. Sadly, we most likely will not be back. read more

Tried Mango Haus a couple times when they opened. It was good, but we could tell they were still getting their footing. Went again recently and they blew our socks off. They have found their footing! Entrees were delicious and perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and very helpful. The ambiance is unique and nothing else you can find in Tehachapi right now. They have adopted their menu to be more Americana focused for Tehachapi but it would be awesome to see them bring some of the menu items from the Bakersfield restaurant! This is a wonderful addition to the Tehachapi restaurant scene, very cosmopolitan. Farm to table fresh ingredients, well prepared, interesting entrees. Nice full bar with lots of fun cocktails, local beers and wines. We ordered the ribeye steak, which was excellent and served with sides of spicy salt and pepper, mango salsa and crumbled blue cheese as well as potatoes and roasted carrots. Also the mango chicken sandwich with a salad and their amazing chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful and proud of the quality of their food and presentation, as they should be! We'll be back for sure! read more

Each menu item is hard to resist. They've got a great variety of prices - from pricier steaks, to lower priced burgers, and plenty of options in between. Literally, something for everyone. I look forward to coming back for their brunch menu and unlimited mimosas. I appreciate their awareness and attentiveness to my food sensitivities (gluten & dairy). The atmosphere, food, and service were great! Their food was delicious. We ordered shrimp taco starter then for the main course my husband got fish and chips and I ordered the Bear Valley Burger with an actual beef patty bc they were out of lions mane* mushroom. I think it would have been nice if they provided a water bottle on the table so we could have refilled our water, however, overall it was a great experience. They have a nice building, the chairs and tables aren't too close together. Their heat works, the place is clean. Their food is another matter. Four of us recently visited for dinner on a Saturday night. It's probably not a good sign when a restaurant and bar are not busy on a Saturday night. All of us ordered the steak frites special, because we had previously had this dish and on that previous occasion, it was great. On this visit, not so much. Everything came to the table cold. The steak and the fries were cold - actually sort of room temperature. In addition, the time it took for our warmish food to arrive was a bit long. Our waiter seemed disinterested in his chosen profession on this particular night. He was attentive, but not very friendly. He told us that they only had one dessert available, but he did nothing to sell it. He didn't ask if we'd like coffee. He didn't upsell us and ask if we'd like any side dishes with our steak and fries. A salad or some vegetables would have been nice. Maybe this is just a bar that just happens to have a seating area as a "concept of a restaurant." Could it be a money laundering scheme? Could be a tax write off? It's certainly not a serious restaurant. We won't be back. read more

This place gets 5 stars because I have a ton of allergies and this place uses lots of allergen free recipes. One can eat standard fare, there are paleo and vegan options. It's one of the nicer date options in Tehachapi. And word has it they do brunch! read more

Just finished a meal with the family. I'm here to give an honest review without being nasty or petty. The server, Lexi, was great. She was quick to take our drink orders and quick to take our food orders, when we were ready. That is where it took a turn for the worse. It took them somewhere around an hour to get our food after our order was taken. We were a table of 6 and there were maybe another 6 tables of 4ish people. I don't know why it took so long, but Lexi kept checking on our drinks and apologizing for the delay on food. When our food did arrive my wife's pasta was missing the steak (which Lexi quickly realized and went to get made) and was cold, my youngest didn't have her meal ready and took another 10 minutes or so to come and my sister-in-law's salmon was undercooked (which went back twice before it was cooked to her request). My filet mignon had great flavor and the mango chimichurri was delicious! It's was cooked to my liking. The carrots were tasty but raw. I couldn't even cut them with the knife. Their smash burgers were really good! Their mac and cheese was also very tasty. Also, their drinks were very good and strong. To sum it up, it will be hard for us to go back based on the quality of food, compared to how much we paid. Like others, we love the idea of a new place up here, but this was disappointing. read more

More of a lounge look, very comfortable and cozy with soft music playing in the background. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated immediately. We ordered from the Dinner Menu the Pesto Pasta and Filet Mignon. The food presentation was phenomenal and tasted delicious. The Filet Mignon was tender and the Mango Sauce was amazing! We could not leave without trying the Chocolate Mousse Cake and Carrot Cake. Both deserts were not overly sweet, so we had no problem eating every bite of it. I was really excited to try this place because of the limited options in Tehachapi and we always end up going out of town for dinning. My mom and I finally got the chance to come in on a Saturday it wasn't busy yet so the service was fast. Our waitress was an attentive and friendly. Ambiance was nice and clean. Now for the food, I was really excited for the garlic cheese fries but it tasted like flour gravy, heavy on the flour, which is definitely not an Alfredo sauce, that was disappointing because the fries themself were the best thing I had there, they were nice and crispy on the out side but the taste of the sauce unfortunately ruined them. My mom had wings, they were alright. I had look at pictures from the business owner on yelp to decide what I wanted ahead of time and had decided on the pasta with white sauce, but was told it's no longer available. I was also going to order the fondant potatoes with the pasta but was informed that was also no longer available which was also posted on the menu 3 months ago from another yelper, along with a photo from the business owner. Unfortunate because they looked incredible and are better than the usually mashed or baked but instead of even those options there were only roasted potatoes which ended up being bland along with the vegetables that came with the filet I ended up ordering. The mango sauce with the mango chimichurri was a little overpowering for the filet. I'll most likely come back for some drinks with friends because of the atmosphere but I'll probably wait for the menu to change again before I dine in. Also would love if they would post menu changes and updates from the business owner so you don't go in expecting multiple options that are no long are on the menu. read more
