I almost didn't make it

Been coming here for sometime decided to try their dinner. Let me tell you something the burger is bigger than you think and tastes better than it looks. And always service better than the last time I was here every time. You will remember this burger.

A white coffee mug filled with a hot beverage is on a table in a restaurant setting. The table has utensils and napkins nearby. In the background, there is a view into a dining area with black chairs, tables, and framed wall art. The restaurant has a mix of wood and neutral-colored decor, with ceiling lights and a carpeted floor.

Always a great place to stop in. pancakes are huge. The food is good. The service is great My daughter said it's one of the best burgers she has ever had. French fries are fantastic. The hasbrowns are a bit greasy. But still good. Always clean.

Pancakes - A white oval plate holds two large, golden-brown pancakes topped with two pats of butter. Two small cups of syrup are placed on the side of the plate. The plate is set on a table with a newspaper or menu underneath. Part of a person wearing a dark shirt is visible in the background, and the setting appears to be a casual restaurant or diner.

Wow, absolutely the best breakfast place around. The staff was beyond amazing, service, epic, and the food unbelievable. The pricing was insane compared to how much food you get. This is definitely our new favorite breakfast spot. Love love love it. and the best part is, we got to see Santa Claus today.

Check out this YouTube channel about J's Hideaway, quality isn't great. Good info though - The image shows two people sitting and talking in a dimly lit room, possibly a bar or lounge, with a wooden bar shelf behind them. The background includes framed pictures, bottles, and American-themed decor, such as a gun display. The lighting is warm and subdued, and the individuals are wearing dark clothing and glasses.

Great unassuming place with excellent food and nice service. Jamie is awesome! I had the sausage links as usual and they are huge!

Food is very good, like a home cooked meal, large portions and friendly staff. Breakfast is excellent.

The turkey ciabatta was flavorful, had the right amount of meat, cheese & pesto to the bread ratio. The grilled cheese was good, the balsamic drizzle was missing, would have just made it better.. it was good without it. Our barista was focused on completing the orders, which is great for the traveler wanting to get back on the road, not so much for the friendly idle chitchatter! It's all good! We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the Sunday afternoon knitting club was there knitting and pearling away while they sipped delicious coffee and ate delicacies from the baked goods. We were there for the delicious turkey ciabatta sandwich. The bread is toasted and it just makes the turkey spinach and tomato covered with melted provolone so much more tasty I chatted a while with members of the knitting club while we waited for our sandwich. They're there every Sunday and they knit for people that have cancer who need hats to stay warm. It's a great community up here in Tehachapi. I was impressed with it several years ago when we held a dance recital here this coffee shop seems to be sort of a club of community activity. The only downside is it does take a while to get your order because they're busy, but that sandwich was worth waiting for, and it made the miles from Tehachapi to Mojave speed by

Service can sometimes be a little slow, but your in a small town. So sit back, take your time, and enjoy! Breakfast is a staple here and the pancakes are so yummy! Today im having salad and fries. They enjoy eating here and usually have no problem. It took a good 20 minutes before our server took our drink order, and even longer to take our dinner order. We all three ordered because I changed my mind and decided I wanted a club sandwich, I also ordered a salad and so did my friend. We never got them until our meal arrived, and even then one was forgotten. When one of my friends received her order it was the wrong one. She ordered a chicken sandwich, not a burger. The burger that did come was burnt; luckily that is not what she ordered. We had to ask for refills as our server was walking by. She never once came to our table to see if we were doing OK. My friend said this was definitely an off night for this place. 12/23/25

Most of the restaurants I was interested in on YELP were closed on Sunday nights, so we took this reco from a local and ran with it. The restaurant is set back from the street in a little shopping area just off the main street from the first exit going East. It is worth a stop even if you are just driving through town. The service was warm, friendly and attentive. I had heard that the shrimp tacos were good, and I was hungry, so I ordered the dinner. My husband got the Carne Asada dinner. I got a very reasonably priced glass of Chardonnay, which I sipped as I studied the selection of tequilas lined up behind the bar. We were also brought chips and salsa right away. The chips are good, but more like packaged chips than fried chips. I sipped my wine, and enjoyed the ambience of this "local's" restaurant. It is the kind of place that your small office goes to for a celebration lunch, or for casual drinks after work. It has that casual vibe combined with affordable pricing that makes it popular. Our dinners came quickly and we enjoyed the hearty dishes. The food is kind of American-Mexican, as there was tartar sauce on my shrimp tacos. The shrimp were plump and there were plenty of them. My husbands Carne Asada was tender and there was a rolled up cheese enchilada with his meal that was just yummy!! It all tasted good and home-made, and we went away satisfied and refreshed, with lots of take-out leftover!
