Expensive!! Food is good, but not great! Meals do not come with salad! You have to order a side salad. When you pay $50 for steak, salad should come with it. read more

Best green beans ever, I had the ribs my husband had the Top Sirloin, everything we had was very very good. We shared a salad, house made Blue cheese dressing great. Would come here every week if we didn't live 400 miles away. Can't go wrong here good service too. read more

I took my wife to a nearby resort for her birthday. Figured we get away from the LA to relax, thinking the food would be tasteless and I would have to cook. Boy was I wrong. The steaks were fresh thick and juicy. $30 for the 14oz well worth it. We are going back just for the food read more

Food was tasty, but not anything special (we got the meatball spaghetti and chicken alfredo). The big selling point was the nice portions. Service was attentive and quick, but wouldn't refill until asked. read more

The food was good although it was a long wait for it from the kitchen. We went on a Saturday night, service was good, just a little slow. Nice atmosphere, neat bar I thought. The streaks are on the pricier side with the filet mignon being $30 and the 14 oz rib eye was $29. My dinner guest ordered the filet mignon as medium well and received it as "rare"m but she did not seem to think it was a bad deal. read more

The service was friendly enough, pretty fast. Only disappointing thing was they were out of bacon. A smidge overpriced but the black and blue burger was fantastic read more

Perfect steakhouse. Old fashioned comforting ambience. Sides and veg were perfectly cooked, service was superb. House wine was delish and the pours were generous. Made me happy!! read more

Fabulous food, terrific service! Harris Ranch Prime Rib with all the fixings (YUM!) Nice selection of CA wines. I could eat here every day.

Got into town late in the evening not thinking we would find a restaurant open after 8. The waitress was very nice and very efficient. The grass feed steak was perfectly seasoned. Terrific blue cheese salad dressing on the fresh salad. The wine list was reasonable. Only regret was we didn't have room for dessert. Will definitely go back if we pass that way again. The steak was that good. read more

My husband wanted to order a prime rib but the waitress said she wasn't sure if there were any left (she didn't seem to know what was going on) so my husband said that it was fine IF there weren't anymore he would take a ribeye but only if they were out of prime rib. The waitress never came back saying either way but once we got our order my husband ask if they were out and she said yes so we ate our meal and got ready to pay. A family came in and sat at the table next to us, they had a different waitress but over hearing the waitress she told them about tonight special, which we were NEVER informed about at all, also letting the table know that they only had 2 more prime ribs.... why were we told that you were out but yet another server is telling another table something else. Not only did this upset us, because we were lied to and the special sounded amazing but yet we were not offered this, we waited over 15 minutes if her to come back and get our card. read more

Had lunch special this week and both the service and food was great!! I've never been disappointed at Jake's !!

We came to drop my girls home , we had the best visit with our waitress from Darlene from Seattle bless her heart very professional class act and sweet as pie :))) the food was exceptional great visit !!! read more

Our family use to go here all the time !! Unfortunately it's gone down hill with the staff. When we would get a lady named Darlene we would get awesome service. She was great with our kids and always keeping up with refills and checking in. The last few times we have gone we had a gal by the name of Michelle. She was very cold and not friendly to my kids or I. We never got refills and she was real belittling. Wish there was more staff like Darlene. But until they rehire some more nice people like her we won't be back!! The food has been cold and under cooked and the vegetables look old read more

One of my favorite places to dine for lunch and dinner. I ordered the fillet Mignon medium well. Never a disappointment! The atmosphere is relaxing and the servers are friendly. Will be there again on my 46th birthday ! woo -hoo! read more

Ok food but the staff is the worst consistently!! Holy smokes!! The night manager called my sister fat twice..very sad that the owner don't seem to have a clue:/ read more

Excellent filet steak, great fried green beans appetizer, awesome cream of mushroom soup special. Friendly service. A definite must if you are in Tehachapi. read more

The food was expensive, but tasted fine. The au gratin potatoes were dry and the green beans were way undercooked. The ribeye was tough and the bread was just plain white bread. But the real problem with everything started when the server seated us, calling us "girls." Then he wrote our orders on a wrinkled up piece of paper out of his pocket. Instead of bringing ribeye steaks, he brought prime rib 45 minutes after we ordered. After returning it to the kitchen, he stopped by our table and said he would comp our drinks. Then he said that dessert was on him. When we ordered it, my sister said that we'd both like the lemon cake to go. He brought one small piece of cake for both of us. When I asked him about it, he said, "Oh what? That's not big enough for both of you?" We were going to different places and I called him on it. It was an extremely small piece of cake for which they charge $7. He was rude and said he could only give out one piece. I told him we didn't ask for it, but it wasn't right. He also continued to call us girls. Irritating end to a nice day! read more

Great steakhouse. Wonderful service and food. Only 4 stars due to the fact my steak was over cooked. BUT they took it back and made me a new one immediately. Great service and very responsive. Yummy to the end. read more

Omg! Glad I found this place, best PrimeRib I've had in awhile and it's not at Mortons price.

$8.50 for a Caesar and $8 to add blackened salmon. I'm ok with both, but when my fork is bigger than the piece of salmon (not exaggerating) it is an issue. I've been here two other times. It is definitely nothing over 3 star place. read more

This place needs Robert Irvine or another of those restaurant maker over folks to have a talk with their staff and update their decor. We were looking for a nice place for steak dinner so we stopped in to have a beverage and small plate while we checked the menu. When we walked in the hostess was at the stand but busy reading something. She never looked up and said nothing to us. A waitress behind the bar said hi and asked if we wanted dinner. We told her our plan and she gave menus and told us to sit at the bar, which was totally uncomfortable. We looked over the menu and found something to snack on and what we might have for dinner... and we waited, and waited for someone to take our order or at least bring us water or something. A waitress came by and smiled and kept on walking. We waited and waited and waited. The hostess kept reading and then looked up and said they were busy because they had a big party in the back. We waited some more. Hostess disappeared. Waitress came to the bar and ignored us intentionally. Another walked by and smiled but kept on walking. So, we got up and left and kept on walking too. We will never be back and do not recommend anyone ever bother with this place. read more

When you are paying between $30-$40 for an entree, one woulld think that excellent service and a properly cooked filet would be a given, but sadly this was not my recent experience at Jake's. The staff appears to have no clue on how to properly address and resolve a legitimate, politely communicated customer complaint that even casual dining chains who charge $7 or $8 an entree know how to handle. Here I is your first clue Jake's...make sure the customer is satisfied before leaving your restaurant. Have a manager come by the table to make sure everything was resolved to the customer's satisfaction. In short, let the customer know that you give a damn and that you want their return business. read more

Good food and service. We had the New York steak and king cut prime rib both were good. Relaxing atmosphere. Very enjoyable experience.

We love Jake's. Every time we visit Tehachapi we eat there. Their beef soup is bomb. They always have great food! Their service is awesome too. read more

Love the food and Darlene was an awesome server. We are visiting from Arizona and really enjoy Jake's.

Best restaurant bar in town. The cooks know how to burn a steak. Only reason for 4 stars is no dry aged beef.

Jake's exceeded our expectations! Our waitress, Beth, was attentive and professional. The calamari was delicious, and the sweet potato fries with wasabi dressing were the best! Each of our steaks was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The grilled vegetables were also a treat. All in all, a great dinner at a fair price. We will be back! read more

What a wonderful place. Cocktails were delicious, food was phenomenal...the best part, our server Ginger, what a gem!!! We'll be back

Stopped in Tehachapi on our way home from Palm Springs. Dinner at Jakes was outstanding. Prime rib cooked to perfection, and steal salad was delicious. Wonderful service as well. read more

Service was AMAZING! Traveling through and Jake's was recommended to us. They were busy and we did not have reservations. They were able to still seat us by the bar. Service was great! Food was served timely. We enjoyed a halibut dinner and corned beef and cabbage. Thank goodness we were at at wedding the night before and I missed out. Again, I must compliment the amazing service. They were packed and the girls were busy. They were always smiling and courteous. Thank you read more

Food is normally very good, this a restaurant that my wife and I eat at every 2-3 months. On our last visit on 8-18-2019, a little after noon, I ordered their premium cheese burger, the one with ham, I ordered it medium rare. It was so big that I cut it in half, to eat half for lunch and take half home. When I cut the burger in half it was cooked well, completely brown, with no pink or juice in the middle. I informed our waitress and she apologized and acknowledged it was very over cooked and she'd have a new patty cooked. I declined as I was looking forward to this meal and now I no longer had a that appetite for it. She told me talked to the cook/owner and it'd be taken care of. When the bill came, Jakes took 25% off my burger. I consider this terrible representation for their product. Jakes could have done something more, come on, the burger was cooked 3 levels over what I ordered. We ordered two entree's, 4 lunches and one dessert, it's not as though we showed up trying to get free food. read more

My husband loved it and I thought it was ok. Aside from the waitress referring to us as "city folk" (I've been called worse), it was decent. Slightly over priced though. read more

Very good food, not on cheap side. Waiter forgot my salad until my dinner was ready. I like to have time to enjoy my salad first. A very nice place to go on a special time. We will go again when we come thru here! read more

Wow, Totally impressed with the staff. The food was perfectly cooked and the bartender not only knew what she was doing but was cute too. Thanks to our server Tanya for great service. I recommend this place for anyone wanting a great prime rib or rib eye dinner. read more

Just a reminder that jakes is closed today and tomorrow for remodeling in the bar. Soooo disappointed because we go there every time we come through. Best food in town read more

Excellent food. Good service. We had been driving all day and there was something for everyone. Sauces are light and full of flavor.

The wife went here after hearing how great it was. The flat iron steak was tough. The salad came out of a bag with a couple extra things tossed on. Vegetables were over cooked. Portions for price, small. My wife's order was wrong so I sat waiting for them to make it right while my food sat getting cold. Service was so-so. I must have been to this place on an off night, after reading other reviews. Over priced and over rated. read more

The food was pretty good for an off the side of the road in the middle of nowhere kind of a place. However, the service was remarkably bad. The one waitress for the whole place was surley. (I don't really blame her, I guess) Apparently the bartender had just walked off the job, so we couldn't get a drink. They were out of any decent beer selection that we asked for. The waitress misheard my husband's order and brought him a steak instead of steak fajitas -- and to make it right she took a whole $1.90 off of the bill. read more

Went here for lunch and had a horrible experience. We were "riff-raffed" by the waitress who only showed up at our table 3 times; once to order, once to deliver substandard food, and once with the check. She totally ignored us as we left. The food was awful. I had fish and chips that had obviously been purchased frozen; nothing even kind of fresh there. My husband had a Reuben sandwich; made with roast beef rather than corned beef, and no dressing in sight. Bad food; worse service. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone. read more
