We have been weekly customers since they opened. We will not go back after tonight's experience under the new owner. We waited over an hour for a burger and shrimp po'boy with 16 customers in the restaurant. The food was horrible. Undercooked and cold. I complained and asked to see the manager. She hid in the kitchen after the server spoke with her. I fed the burger to my dog. I hope this place closes and gets bought by someone who knows what they are doing. read more

I've have NEVER sent food back, ever. Not only did I send it back, I skipped my meal entirely because of how awful it was. Not only did I send my meal back, my mother and sister had to as well. I have never had such awful food. The waitress was amazing but the manager was stumbling and trying to spit out excuse after excuse. Safe to say, will never be returning to Jacks seafood. You can't open up a seafood restaurant and wing it and expect it to pass in a fishing community. The only reason for the 1 star is because our waitress was so sweet. read more

Right on the wharf with nice view, friendly service and excellent food

They are trying but it doesn't feel like they are trying that hard. We were asked twice about a drink besides water before they even brought us a drink list(which was under not up to date). I got their tacos as it was taco Tuesday(the waitress didn't remember this was a thing that jacks does and I had to remind her of the $3 drafts as well). I have grown fond of fish tacos from living in San Diego for a dozen years, One of each to see which I liked best. They all came with guacamole on them but I would prefer it separated as I think it's better being more traditional. All of the tacos were too big for the tortilla they are served on. I think doubling up on tortillas would be great. Once you pick up the taco it is near impossible to put it down without it falling apart, if it didn't already from the shear volume of fillings. The shrimp taco was delicious, however the shrimp size was so large that my last two bites were without it. I think sizing down on the shrimp to better evenly distribute would be great. The grilled rockfish and halibut was okay. Your not going to be able to distinguish between the two in a bite of the taco so I don't see why they have a mix of fish. The traditional battered fish was my favorite. I tried the other two tacos with the guacamole and on this one I took it off and enjoyed it tremendously. My lady got the surf and turf(steelhead and quail). She got the clam chowder with it that turned out to be more of a gravy than anything. It was so thick that when you took a spoonful of it nothing moved to fill in the divot. It sounded as if it would be better served over biscuits than with French bread. I love that idea too, I've never had biscuits and clam gravy before! Overall I think taco Tuesday is a hit but wouldn't yet go there for full price fare. read more

I took my three kids to the boardwalk for, well, a walk along the bay. My three year old had to immediately go to the bathroom (of course, right when we got there) and jacks was 20 feet away. I asked the woman at the front if my son could use the bathroom and she said yes. She was very nice and smiled, which was nice in this sometimes gloomy and unhappy world we live in. It was a refreshingly kind attitude. So A+ on friendly staff. The bathroom was clean, so A+ on cleanliness of the bathroom. After leaving, I noticed a sign by the front door with the daily special and soup of the day listed. I'm a sucker for a good French onion soup with nicely melted gruyere cheese atop it... mmm... being recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I decided to look up the carb count of French onion soup and according to google, a cup would have been around 8g of carbs, so i was glad my love of French onion soup could continue, minus the big crouton (:/) Anyway, I went back inside and decided because they were so nice and let me use the bathroom, I would grab a bowl to go. The woman working the front brought it out front for me because my kids were playing outside the front doors and I didn't want them getting accosted by the sometimes less than savory characters that actively roam the boardwalk near the restaurant (although I didn't see any of them actively shooting up heroin, so that was good). After getting my bowl of soup to-go, we got in the car and went home (it had started to rain which happens a lot here). I got home and opened the bowl of soup in its container. I was a bit confused.... where was the gruyere cheese melted on top? Had it sunk to the bottom during the drive home? I stirred it up... but no, no cheese whatsoever. I paid 8 dollars for broth and onions. I guess it was good for my cholesterol, but I was really looking forward to that perfect bowl of French onion soup. I still ate the soup of course and due to the spot on broth and great texture of perfectly soft and delicious onions, I decided to still give 4 stars to this restaurant experience. I can tell you I also judge a restaurant quite a bit based on cleanliness of bathrooms which says a lot about how much staff cares about how clean things are. A clean bathroom for me = clean kitchen and grooming standards. While I was in the restaurant, I took notice of the beautiful view of the bay. It would be a very nice restaurant for a date or anniversary or just a nice meal with your significant other. Had the French onion soup contained the classic gruyere cheese melted on top, I would have given jacks a 5 star review. I will go back to this restaurant someday and have a meal. If it's anything like the French onion soup broth, I'm sure it will be good. read more

I give my experience at Jack's a 3 1/2 stars. The ambience and location were great. Our waitress as well. Our starting salads were delicious! But our entrees were not all that great. My boyfriend had a fish dish and said it was good, but sizing far too small. I had scallops, they were good. They were served with way undercooked broccoli & cauliflower and roasted potatoes. The potatoes were OK but never should be served with seafood. They just don't go together! Tasted horrible together in fact. Steak and potatoes yes. Not seafood and roasted bland potatoes. As well it was pricey. Not crazy, but we expected more food for $20+ plates. Perhaps we will give it another go.... Pasta dishes looked big! read more

Good food, great service, great scenery if you like watching people shoot up heroin. As soon as my family and I exited the car we were approached by a homeless man aggressively asking for money. After our dinner, which was very good, my family and I took a stroll on the board walk. We didn't make it far past the seagull sculpture before we witnessed a man openly shooting up heroin. Brought the 5 of us for birthday dinner. 1st time here but the menu was enticing. We knew bringing a kid with shellfish allergies was an issue but when we asked if the fries share the same fryer as the seafood and was told it does, I knew this was a bad start. Wrote that one off to down home style and proceeded to ask if the advertised fresh halibut was local, I was told it was not, nor was it fresh but frozen. Asked if the Columbia River steelhead was frozen and the waitress must have misheard me as she responded with having to ask the cook which farm it came from. It was then clarified that the fish comes from a farm in the Columbia River area. Anyway..... the food was decent, my ciopinno seemed decent, it had no kick but was well stocked, with the exception of a nice crab claw. I got to the last clam and it was only slightly open, when I split it the rest of the way, it's black ooze spilled into the remaining soup and shrimp and told me I was done. When I told the waitress she said sorry and brought me the bill. I told her I wasn't comfortable paying full price for a rotten clam in my 30 dollar soup and not being her fault she shouldn't have to see me take it out of her tip. I was told that I had ate most of it but if I want to talk to a manager..... I would have paid the 200 dollar bill for a casual seafood meal and maybe even come back again had she just dealt with it properly. If you found a rat tail in the last bite of a hot dog does it make the rest of the hotdog ok? What if it was a 30 dollar hotdog? Just because the ooze filled clam was in the bottom of the bowl, it was still in the soup. read more

Terrible food! Over priced.... they also had a special of live crab..... we are from here and eat crab a lot.... they tried to serve my kids crabs that had been frozen then supposedly just boiled fresh, but part of it was still frozen!!! They get 2 stars because they very kindly without complaint apologized and removed the cost from the bill.... the waitress seemed embarrassed that she had to try this trick on people.... did a birthday party dinner there.... spent a lot of money, and if it was good would have happily done it again as I have several times at Bayfront! read more

Coconut encrusted prawns, Great White draft, House salads, Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos. Service very attentive and pleasant. Great background music (some Tango, perhaps?!). My boyfriend and I just recently ate here, excited at the prospect of a new seafood restaurant. We ordered the soft shell crab appetizer and some sandwiches. The crab was hot out of the fryer but it was limp, unseasoned and soggy. The flavor was flat and muddy and it was really disapointing. Our sandwiches were TINY and the prawns in mine were quite bitter. The food is over priced for the portion sizes delivered (considering the underwhelming quality of the dishes served). But what frustrated me the most about this experience is the fact that this meal left both my boyfriend and I tag teaming the bathroom for the remainder of the day. I believe as time goes on and the servers and kitchen hits their stride they will be getting a higher rating from me. The coffee they served was cold. I'm one who doesn't like my coffee piping hot so when I say cold it was coooold. The calamari steak I ordered came out in strips so was not what I expected. It was tasty but really salty. It also was really cold inside. Mostly due to the building I think and the open ceilings but it will get dialed in. I believe I will be going back and am looking forward to seeing the progress. I was actually very impressed with this restaurant. To start, the service was great! The chowder was really good, I have a favorite at another restaurant in Eureka, but this one is pretty close to beating it. The view is nice and the atmosphere is great, I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. All the meals I saw coming out looked great and it was obviously very fresh ingredients. Service was spot on. Appetizers were perfect. We had calamari and oysters. The calamari was fried and seasoned well. The oysters were bbq and damn fresh. We both had a bowl of clam chowder mine had a little sand in it, but it was so good I finished it lol. For dinner I had fish and shrimp andx chips. My wife had the seafood Alfredo. The fish and shrimp were OK. Greasy maybe but still good plating. Slaw was kinda dry. My wife loved hers said it was perfect. Very nicely cooked scallops and shrimp. DELICIOUS food! We decided to go to Jack's while visiting Eureka. We ordered lunch and our food was delicious. My first time here! I must say that after a long day of work, Jack's offered a relaxing and much needed down time. Our waitress Daniella was very attentive and professional and offered us her time with small chat and timely service. The wine list was good and although we came in late we still were able to get our cravings on. My half of crab was served with a side of fresh veggies and the creme brûlée was great! Too bad they ran out of the crab but none the less the half made it worth while! Crab cakes and the crab macaroni were also very good, again it's what you feel like eating and who you are with that makes your meal better! My husband and I have been here twice so far. Once when it first opened and again last week. The service, atmosphere, and food were great both times. This most recent time I got crab mac and cheese and my husband got clam chowder and halibut. We got the chocolate mousse for dessert. The Thursday summer concert was going on outside which added to the ambiance. It was fun to watch the boats go by, the pelicans fly by, and the people dancing outside while enjoying our meal.
