I don't know what choke hold Jack has on the Braselton/Hoschton area.... All of his restaurants suck! They are all poorly managed, overpriced and mediocre food. Thank goodness my mother wanted to have a steak from Jack's on her birthday seven years ago. I really had no idea this restaurant and bar was nestled in that corner spot. The food was simply amazing. They had and continue to have daily specials from amazing chefs, yes chefs! The fresh herbs and vegetables with top quality meats can't be beat. The owners care about their customers and their experiences. They always have a smile on their face when you walk in the door. Whether eating dinner with the family in the dining area or grabbing a beer and a sandwich at the bar, you will never be disappointed. One of the only late night spots in the area I was ready to settle for just about anything that resembled food. The patrons and bartenders were so friendly and the food was so good! I got a chicken tender salad and I had them tossed in Buffalo sauce and my husband got the burger. This was actually one of the best Buffalo chicken salads I've ever had. The salad was super fresh and the bacon on it was delicious big pieces. The chicken tenders seemed like they were hand breaded (I'm not sure if they actually were or not) and the Buffalo sauce was spicy and very tasty! The burger was delicious. It was cooked to order and the patties seemed hand formed with tons of flavor. I think the roll was a Kaiser roll or something similar. It tasted like something from a high end restaurant. The food took a little while from when we ordered it but we realized it was because everything was fresh and made to order and totally worth the wait! We travel through the area a couple times a year and always like to stay in Bradenton due to its proximity to the highway and because we love Chateau Elan. Can I give 0 stars? Walked in tonight with my girlfriend and 3 older kids. Watched 3 servers discuss how they didn't want our table and then proceed to ignore us for the next 10 minutes. A couple walked in shortly after and they were promptly greeted with menus, etc. I've heard the food was decent but I'll never be back with my family. Appreciate the discrimination against children. read more

Update! Although the food is still good, the service has dropped to a 1 Star level. Last night we went out for our date night. We sat at a table we had to find ourselves, even thou it was set-it was still dirty. The table wobbled horribly, so I got on my knees to correct it for them. The floor was disgusting. Like not swept in days disgusting. Both the table and the floor indicate to me the staff has become lazy. Then the adventure really began - after sitting for 5 or 10 minutes we notice a server acknowledging/greeting another table that had sat them selves AFTER US! Nothing is worse than being made to feel you are invisible to service staff. When I finally got someone's attention I was given a lame excuse about forgetting to tell the server we had sat at the table? Place isn't that big. Maybe 10 tables. Pay attention and do better. When the server finally arrived, no apology from her - no acknowledgment of fault - and no promise to intensely insure that the rest of the experience would be flawless. And she failed to execute even the smallest parts of our dining experience. We had to remind her 4! Times to get our water. She served pork chops without a steak knife. And the baked potato that came out with the Mahi was pathetic. When a customer is paying $25 for a plate of fish, be sure the plate looks awesome! (Also, go back to butter - never serve margarine!) We honestly just wanted to get out of there. We weren't made to feel appreciated. And I'm seriously considering not visiting again. That's a shame, because the food is wonderful. But the bottom line is they were adequately staffed, but the staff isn't trained on the basics of hospitality. They do not come to work with an attitude of service. Sad. I don't think the place will last much longer. And ask for Jose as your server! Kinda funky looking place in an odd location. Great service. Good strong cocktails. Not loud. Awesome food. Great place to avoid the expensive restaurants at Chateau Elan. Pros: The food. The 1/2 rack of ribs was enormous. Perfectly seasoned and fall off the bone good. Wings are good. Service was good, though they were overworking the one and only waitress. Definitely a local dive kind of atmosphere. Cons: Beer was kind of expensive. As a blue blood yankee from Massachusetts, this place is now my southern Santarpio's. for those of you who do not know, look them up! What a great little gem tucked away from the main road and away from the vineyard/golf courses. Showed up on a Monday night (which also was Italian night) and the place was busy but not crazy. Sat at the bar and had the Jack's Melt with fries, washed down with a few drafts... it was fantastic!!! Conversation was flowing as were the drinks but even more impressive was the bartender who was running a well oiled machine. She wrote all the orders by hand and knew everyone by first name!!! We stayed at a resort nearby and asked our bartender what was a good place nearby that we could go get drinks. We were pointed in Jacks direction. My experience of the place, in fairness, was as unimpressive as the food I ordered. I'd like to point out that my partner and I have worked in the food/service industry for 10 years and that has given us a sense of understanding on how things work in restaurants. We came Sunday afternoon and there was live music on the outside patio, which was nice. However, the first thing you notice besides the music is the long line of really nice motorcycles fellow patrons have parked along the parking lot. Seemed like a good place to come to so far. We came inside and sat ourselves at the bar as we had only intended to order beverages. We were promptly greeted and given menus by the bartender on duty. There were 4 other guests inside as most customers sat outside for the music. We ordered our beers and asked about her favorite appetizer choices. She recommended the chicken sticks, baked mushrooms, and fish dip (that they were unfortunately out of). We took some time to make up our mind and against her recommendations, I ordered a NY Strip I read on their specials board. We had the choice of salad/side and chose loaded baked potato with a side Caesar. Before she left to put the order in, my partner asked to change the salad to a wedge instead. The food came at a reasonable time but came with both salads mentioned. We tried to explain we had only wanted a wedge instead but the bartender insisted that we said to "add on a wedge". She refused to take it off the bill even though we did not touch the Caesar salad. This where her frustration with us started to show. The steak was cooked Medium rare with a balsamic glaze over a bed of spinach. The steak wasn't seasoned enough, the spinach came from a can, and the salad was drowned in dressing. It took a while to get her attention again, maybe irritated by us and wanting to show the other 4 guests were keeping her busy. Ordered butter for my potato and steak sauce and you could feel how dry her tone was as it's clear we've annoyed her by now. The best thing I can say I had was the baked potato. The steak was cooked just fine but as mentioned before, lacked flavor. All in all I feel that this place is a great after hours place to get drinks at after a night shift. Probably good for bar food and drinks, but not impressive for a $28 steak dinner. read more

My GPS in my truck and my phone sent me to the wrong place. Look for the Waffle House behind the convenience store and turn in there. I had a drink at the bar while waiting for my to go order. Mick the bartender was nice, the people at the bar seemed to be adult regulars that gave the place a nice feel. After seeing Jack's parking lot packed all the time, I have determined that it must be so popular with the locals because there is nothing else to choose from and you get good service, if you are a local. I have tried numerous times to have a good experience at Jacks but it never works. Tried to enjoy the place as a bar, but have never received good bar service (even though you sit and watch other get drinks without even having to ask). Tried to go for food since I have heard good things about their fish. They were out of the fish that day and the ribs I ordered instead were so boiled they slopped right off the bone as I tried to pick them up and I had to eat them with a fork (cutting off lots of fat). I had a great omelet for brunch one Saturday but had horrible service while sitting at the bar. I had to get the local guy next to me to hail the staff to get any refills or even my check. I have learned that if you want to go there, you need to A.) go with a local; B.) sit in the table area (staff is better there); OR C.) sit outside and enjoy the music when the weather is good...patio service is also better than bar service. read more

I cannot understand the bad reviews for this place. The food is so good. I mean, the kind of good that you really don't expect in this area. I love the shrimp and grits, but I know people who live in Atlanta and eat the steak at Jacks when they are in the area. The food at Jacks is super fresh, prepared in house and always just really good. It isn't creative, but it is far beyond any bar food you will ever have. You can have a burger and chicken wings or you can have a center-cut filet. But, whatever you have, it will be good. Is it a little noisy? Yes, it is a bar, but if you don't like noise then either avoid bars or go there for lunch. Also, it is usually crowded, because it is so popular in the area. So, yeah, crowded places are noisy. Is the crowd "ruff"? No. Just no. My 68-year old mother goes there frequently with her retirement community friends. In fact, the biggest groups are probably Chateau Elan types and Village at Deaton Creek types. If anything it just feels like a place that attracts locals, but happens to have really good food. Are they giving out their competitors to-go boxes? Nope, again. Jack owns both Jacks and Jeffrey's down the street. So, yeah, the ability to purchase another location is the opposite of a business going down the drain. Hoschton is a food wasteland. There is nothing to eat out here. The reason why this place usually has a full parking lot is because it is the only restaurant worth visiting in the area, and, I think that the reason it doesn't have better reviews is probably because the people who go there all the time just don't think about writing a review. In the end, if you are in the area, and hungry (though probably not Hungary), I would stop here before I would stop anywhere else. read more

Came for lunch after reading such great reviews, but didn't expect it to feel like a sports bar. Don't let that fool you though - the food really is good. I had grilled shrimp and cheese grits, which were absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked well and was full of flavor. As we got the check, our server offered us drinks to go - sweet tea please! It was perfect. The only area that could have been improved was the speed of service - our server was very friendly, but we were there about 50 minutes before our food came out. Jack's nailed it! We are from out of town and were racing at Road Atlanta all day and into the evening. We walked in on a Saturday night after 10:00 p.m. with a group of 10 with no reservations. The server greeted us and made us feel welcome. Many servers would have panicked at that point, but no panic here! She put together some tables so that we could all sit together comfortably. Drinks came out quickly. We made everything complicated when all of us ordered something different, and all wanted separate checks. No problem! We started with soups and salads, and more drinks. Our party ordered from the dinner menu, including steaks, grilled shrimp, and the grouper special. I had the Steak Diane that was on special that night. Everything came out at the same time, and was piping hot! All of the steaks were prepared to perfection as ordered, and my Steak Diane was absolutely fantastic! The seafood bisque and sides were wonderful as well. Dinners were absolutely delicious, and our server accommodated us in a professional way with everything we needed. Did I say we were also ordering drinks from craft beer and cocktails, and everything came out quickly? My hat is off to the server and the chef! Jack's was just what we needed after a long day and night of racing. It is nearly impossible to find a late night spot with great food, and Jack's is a place you can count on. We have been coming to Road Atlanta every year for the last 10 years and have been to many bars and restaurants in the area. None of them are anywhere close to as good as Jack's. Been there for lunch a few times and was always impressed so I decided to take the wife. she wasn't impressed when we walked in as most newbies aren't. even after setting the expectation! but the food spoke for itself. the service was a little slow to start because it was packed but we never waited for anything.
