Sad to say, but there's no good Chinese food in Annapolis. Jack's Fortune is no exception. Like many other reviewers have said, there was no flavor to the food! I got the kung pao chicken, which LOOKED great! It's just chicken, scallions, peanuts, and dried chilis, so I thought that was a good sign that it wasn't a bunch of mixed veggies. No, not good! I don't know how a dish covered in such a dark sauce can be so flavorless, but that's what it is! It wasn't salty, wasn't sweet, wasn't spicy, and the sauce was watery and half an inch deep in the carry out container. Based on other Yelp recommendations, I decided to use Jack's Fortune to provide food for our community Lunar New Year party. Mae was extremely accommodating and helped me to order the correct amount of food for 40 people. The food was excellent and the price was very fair. read more

Best Chinese in Annapolis! Friendly, fast and super convenient.

I have to first start off by saying the service was fast and friendly. But it doesn't make up for the bland food. I have never had Chinese that did not have flavor. Both my fiancees and I's dinners were bland. His dinner was some type of dark mystery meat. It was horrible. Definitely will not be returning. No amount of soy sauce could have helped! read more

Favorite local Chinese place in Annapolis! I've been eating here for years, and its always been good. I will admit, I found something I liked at the beginning and stuck with it. They have fantastic chicken with string beans along with a very tasty egg drop soup! Eventually I will try something different, but when your regular is this good, it's difficult to stray from it. Went here after my son highly recommended it... we went to lunch on a Saturday afternoon. They had lunch specials for $8.95 that included soup egg, roll, hot tea and a large portion entree. My was large enough, I took it home and got another meal out of it. Water was filtered. ( Annapolis water usually is not tasty)Tables were set with white linen tablecloths and a real flower. Amazing food and staff. High quality ingredients, no short cuts like frozen veg or sauces out of a jar. The best wonton soup I've ever consumed (everything is from scratch), absolutely the best Chinese food in Annapolis and the surrounding area. For vegatarians, Jack is a genius with eggplant. True Wok-Fu can be tasted in every dish- I have never had less than a great meal here. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food- I only wish they delivered. Also great for a larger group, rservations are taken and accomodations will be made for just about any request. Mai (Jack's wife) keeps all the customers happy. Not uncommon for the kitchen to offer an extra snack if they think you might like the item, etc. Very inexpensive lunch menu with egg roll (also made in house and super yummy), choice of soup and fried rice. Two great dishes on the lunch menu that you can also order for dinner are beef with zucchini or chicken and shrimp in brown sauce (ginger, green onions, fantastic smoky flavor- a favorite!). My family and myself love this place. First, Jack and his wife are always there and meet you like your are old friends and we are. The rest of the staff are the best around always waiting on your every need. My wife starts off with fried green beans, she loves them. Every thing we have ordered come out of the kitchen super hot and more then one can eat a a single sitting, always some for the next day lunch. I'm not one to try new things, they call me the bland man, but I have gone out and tried some new things other then my Chicken Chow Mein. Give Jack's a try, your be glad you did!!! read more

Jack's is the Best! Try the "Pan Fried Noodles" (the name doesn't sound awesome, but it's literally a HUGE portion with Shrimp, beef, chicken, lots of veggies, all on top of a bed of pan fried noodles)! YUM and it's big enough to definitely share for 2, easy! The place is nice (it's not the Ritz, but it's not overpriced either). You get Great Chines food at reasonable(low) prices. It's also great because there is almost never a wait to be seated on a Saturday night (unlike every other restaurant in Annapolis that you wait an hour ++++ for!). It's really good Chines food. I felt compelled to write a review for Jack's after posting a bad review of The Main Ingredient down the street today. I have realized that I write more bad reviews than good based on my desire to warn would-be diners! So, I have decided that for every bad review I will likewise write a review of my good dining experiences! I like Jack's Fortune because the food is consistent. Is it "authentic"? - I have no idea, and doubt it, but I do know it is better than anything else I have had in Annapolis. (House of Hunan used to be great, but the last time I ate there the food was awful.) I really enjoy Jack's hot and sour soup and the Triple Delight. The last time we were there (this past Sunday) my husband even admitted that the shrimp fried rice was very good :-) And my children like the Poo Poo Platter, mostly because it is called a Poo Poo Platter and because they get to cook things on an open flame, but that is part of the fun. (Plus they make Shirley Temples.) The staff are absolutely always friendly, helpful and accommodating, the atmosphere is welcoming and the Jasmine tea is also very nice. I appreciate all of those things about Jack's and hope you do too. read more

If you want excellent Chinese-American (those of you who have been to China know that the authentic Chinese cuisine is quite different from what is generally on offer in the US) Jack's Fortune is the place. My husband and I had the Crispy Pan Fried Noodles - the best we have ever had - and the Hong Kong duck, also wonderful! The portions are very generous and the service is prompt and polite. This will be our go to Chinese restaurant from now on. We just hope that the quality remains the same! read more

Sorry this is a month old, but I was very disappointed in this place especially because of the other reviews. We ordered carry out for lunch. The first warning was no customers, the second was the total lack of smell from cooking. And lastly was the great disappointment in the tasteless, msg ladden food. We were once frequent patrons (at least once per week), but we stopped dining at Jacks after the last two times we had hair in the food. We informed them when it happened the first time and we were told that the cooks weren't wearing their hair nets. It happened again the next visit PLUS there was a dead fly in the water. What a wonderful surprise! You see, we're from Texas where great Chinese food is non-existent! Fresh, real chicken (not parts are parts) obviously prepared with a great love of cooking only the best! After searching for good Chinese takeout I found Jack's Fortune online. I was eager to try this restaurant after such great reviews but I called at 3:01...one minute after the lunch hour. I told the woman that answered the phone how I really wanted to try their restaurant and asked if I could still order lunch . She said "No. Lunch ends at 3 o'clock. Maybe tomorrow." Well...I was very disappointed. I can only afford the lunch menu....and the dinner portions are too large. Too bad....so much for great customer service. We ate here around 11/1/16. We were told by a neighbor that the food is not good, but it's just a few blocks from our house, so we figured we'd try for ourselves. What a mistake! This was some of the worst Chinese food we've had in years. It was tasteless, overcooked, and just plan awful (egg rolls, curry chicken and beef and broccoli)... It wasn't cheap either. Most of the food at Jack's Fortune is pretty mediorce but the Salt-and-Pepper chicken wings are divine. You will have dreams about them. I got to be friends with the servers here and they started letting me order "real" Chinese food like Chinese broccoli and baby bok choy. Delicious! read more

Jacks Fortune has always been a pretty good experience. I very much enjoy that most of the clientele is 30+, and refined. There seem to be quite a few regulars who like to enjoy a variety of Chinese food dishes. Not sure what comments about not having authentic Chinese food are about, you would have to go to China for that or make specific requests if you expect exact food prep. As others said the staff are friendly and happy to provide dine in or take out. Plenty of parking, and never a wait for seating. read more

We have lived in Annapolis for a long time, and we have frequented many of the Chinese restaurants in the area. Our favorite restaurant was Court of Shanghai on West Street, but they closed a year or two ago. We've been in search of a good Chinese restaurant since then. This is not the place. Their wonton soup is okay. However, their food tends to be pretty bland and unexciting. I like Moo Goo Gai Pan, and their version of it is so boring with no taste. My husband loves General Tso's, and his dish is always bland and mooshy. General Tso's should be crunchier than it comes. There is one waitress who is so rude that she practically yelled at our family to ask us our order. What you want! It was insane and disturbing. I've never been treated like that at a restaurant. My son likes the decorative birds that they make out of vegetables, but other than that. Out of desperation, we have been there at least ten times, but things don't seem to get any better. It's a shame that there aren't any good Chinese restaurants in Annapolis now. read more

We just picked up some food from Jack's Fortune and were more disappointed than usual. The soups (wonton and hot and sour) were OK but the accompanying fried chips were awful and tasted stale. The egg rolls were too hard to be cut with a knife and lacked any flavor, even with mustard and duck sauce. The fried rice was very dry and flavorless, and the shrimp in lobster sauce contained five very rubbery shrimp. If this is what passes for Chinese food in Annapolis it's pretty sad! read more

Fake fried rice. Just rice with soy sauce in it. Kung Pao Chicken was cooked in same sauce as beef an broccoli. Disgusting.

The restaurant is in a decent location, and the staff seems very friendly, but that wasn't enough to save my experience. This was the second worst Chinese food I've ever had (second only to the Golden Dragon, also in Annapolis). As pointed out by another review, this may very well be the "Best Chinese in Annapolis" but that still isn't saying a whole lot. It took ever fiber of my being to eat the Sesame Chicken takeout that I ordered. I only made it through the meal only out of sheer determination, because at around $16 (tax included) for the meal, I just couldn't see wasting that much money and not eating it. The chicken contained no white meat and was a soggy mess, sitting in a "sauce" that more closely resembled brown, flavorless water than anything else --the "sauce" was not the least bit thickened. The rice even tasted like a bad minute rice. I guess when you barely have any competition, you don't really have to hold yourself to any high standards. Save your money. Eat at Panda Express. Even if you hate Panda Express, eat there anyway just to avoid this place. At least that way you won't regret having spent so much money on the meal. read more
