Corn pudding was gritty, moist bbq was dry with a big swath of unrendered fat, something that should rarely occur if trimmed correctly. Our server did her best but it didn't stand up to a poor excuse for central bbq despite all the pics with local Texas bbq celebs. This review is from a recent pickup experience so I cannot discuss much around the service provided. I ordered the brisket plate with two sides, all the fixings, and an extra order of two sausages (one regular and one jalapeño cheddar). For my sides I got the greens and the Mac and cheese. The pros: The fattier brisket piece, the greens, and Mac and cheese were strong items. I'd get these again.the fattier piece of brisket was moist due to the fat content and the meat was smoked well. Was seasoned well and not too salty with the sauce. The greens were soft but still had some texture to them with noticeable meat chunks in it. Maybe could use a little more vinegar but I liked it overall. Mac and cheese was thick and creamy. The cons: the leaner brisket piece was pretty dry and harder texture. This totally makes sense but still worth noting. The fixings....2 white bread slices were fine but the onions/pickles were pretty laughable. Not in terms of taste really. More so in terms of quantity. I had like four onion strands and one pickle slice. Needed way more so if you order to go, I recommend asking for extra of this. My hot bbq sauce had a hair strand in it also, you can see it in one of the pictures. The sausages were just ok to me. Very smoky flavor which I liked and the casing had a nice chew but it was not very snappy. Maybe they're a bit on the older side or something. Overall I think the food was okay. Glad we finally got a great BBQ place on our side of the lake. Plenty of parking outside and pretty big restaurant on the inside with an outdoor patio. Service was outstanding, Michelle was a hoot. We tried their ribs, pulled pork, brisket and a couple of sides. The meat was outstanding, delicious and juicy. We both weren't a fan of the potato salad, it had tons of mustard in it, but the slaw was nice. They also have two of their BBQ sauces on the table and the spicy one was definitely our favorite. My Birthday Club went to Jake's for the first time today! Our server, JJ, was very helpful, kind & knowledgeable. Our food runner was not hesitant to adjust the error that been made on one of our orders.. service was awesome! A sparkle candle was added to the peach cobbler and ice cream to celebrate a birthday we had in our group. . The Cobb salad was breathtaking! A couple other dishes were " different " flavors. Super friendly service and welcoming atmosphere- and as an added bonus, it smelled great as soon as we walked in. Our waiter was very dedicated, going to check if the kitchen had plain pulled chicken when I asked (sadly they didn't, but I'm glad he tried) and taking our order efficiently. I got a pulled pork sandwich with collard greens. Pork was perfectly seasoned and cooked- slightly greasy but not so bad that I couldn't enjoy it. Collard greens were too salty imo, but had good smoky flavor. Bun could have done without the butter, as it was just oily. The meat is what counts, and the meat was great. There are many reasons why we don't eat bbq from local restaurants and here are some of the reasons why we won't be coming back to jacks bbq in bellevue. We arrived around 1245 and there's were 4 other tables. Here's everything we ordered, *Fries *Double trouble w half chicken and ribs w potato salad/mac and cheese *The trinity w chilli and cornbread The highlight of our lunch were the fries and sodas. The fries were HOT fresh crispy and had flavor. Everything else came out barely warm to the touch and flavorless. We had to ask for salt and pepper to try and salvage our sides. Wish their bbq sauce wasn't basic, to help the meats. The brisket, didn't taste like anything. Not beefy. Just flavorless fatty in texture, tender and juicy, but not a lick of flavor. The ribs had the most flavor, but they were borderline room tem and dry, so that took away from the overall flavor profile. Nothing had a crust or crisp to it. The chicken wasn't dry and was the warmest of everything we ordered. The skin was past rubbery. The sausages were blah. I've had better sausages off food carts in seattle. We dug in the second everything came out and nothing was close to being warm in temperature. It's like if you were served food at a family party where everything was just sitting out. Absolutely Fantastique'! OK- right now, we are all trying to work and live in the aftermath of the 2024 Bomb Cyclone event. I have been working this whole week at my office's emergency command center. Three times a day, there are 30-40 people to feed, so they can function in their emergency roles. So, today, I needed to order lunch, and decided to call Jack's, to see if they could take care of lunch. I spoke to Robert, the chef. He was so accommodating, and patient while I asked him logistical questions. With only a two-hour window of time, Jack's BBQ came through. EVERYTHING was delicious, and we had shout-outs in the office for the hot, fresh food. I didn't have time to take pictures, but all of the meats were delicious, and the other entrees, especially the Mushrooms were a huge hit! We love it, always get at least two pounds of brisket, (delivery) and we make our own sides. It lasts for two or three meals, although this is a small household! (2 guys). I came in alone for a bowl of chili. The food tasted good but the chili was really soup. A fork would never stand up in it. Service was good and the ambiance noisy and heavy on the Texas, but the hollywood version. There were no napkins on the table and I needed more. The server took a long time to bring the check and it was a credit card device. I put cash on the table and was then ignored for quite a while. Turns out they don't take cash. I had no idea Jack's had a location in Bellevue; I just happened to stumble across it. We made reservations online for Friday at 5:45 PM. It was unnecessary; there was plenty of room. It's a pretty big place. There is additional seating outside. By the time we left, it had gotten much busier, so if you can't make it before 6 PM on a Friday, you should make a reservation on their website. There is parking in the front and back and limited street parking. It gives off an old-school Italian restaurant vibe, with some wild game mounted on the walls. Our service was excellent from start to finish. There were only two of us, and we ordered enough for plenty of leftovers. 1. Hush Puppies are a must-try, they are giant and tasty 2. Fried Pickle Jar (fried pickles, okra, and jalapenos with fresh cherry tomatoes), meh 3. Side of Corn Pudding, meh 4. Side of Flour Tortillas, warm and soft 5. Side of Queso, yum 6. 1 lb Brisket, not overcooked, delicious 7. 1 lb Pulled Pork, salty but delicious I ate the pulled pork by itself and stuffed brisket and queso in the tortillas... soooo good. This is the third time I visit this store and absolutely the worst experience. We invited friends over from Seattle to try their beef rib, which is only available Thursday evening. We arrived early at 530 and asked for beef rib. The waiter and the lady told us that there are plenty available tonight and we can order when our guest shows up. However, when our friends arrived at 6:00 and we immediately placed the order. We were told there was none left. And they didn't reserve for anybody. There was not a sign of apology. So happy to finally have bbq on the eastside!!! I was excited to try this place and it did not disappoint. I love the ambiance- very chill and felt like I was in the south! It's a bit noisy but not crazy loud. Ordered two bbq plates and the chicken tender with fries for my toddler. The kitchen was so sweet- I'm pretty sure they added a small slice of corn cake for my daughter bc it's supposed to only come with one side (fries). She loved everything- devoured her plate of food! Our food was delicious too- my husband who's picky AF enjoyed his ribs. I got brisket and sausages- bith were tasty but the brisket rly stood out. For sides we got Mac and cheese, potato salad, corn cake and corn pudding. All were so tasty- the corn cake comes with a huge slab of butter so it was super moist. Best of all the service was so friendly here- servers coming to check on us all the time, refills, extra napkins, takeout boxes. I loved it- highly recommend! It's the Eastside's turn!! Finally (5/9) we are blessed with Jack's BBQ on Bel-Red in Redmond. Location is fantastic with a very roomy venue and plenty of onsite parking. Couple picnic tables outside with some corn hole waiting for you. Inside is clean and well-staffed with most tables 4+, and some bar-height doubles. Very open ingress/egress for those needing accommodation. I love their brisket and jalapeño sausage, so I went with the two meat plate. Great center-Texas flavor profile, and both were super moist. I did the cornbread and queso mac for my sides, and the mac was addictive. Accompanied by a well-poured grande margarita, and good old white bread, pickles, onions, and jalapeño. All the feels of their SoDo and Algona locations, but never feels less than original. Was nice to talk with Jack for a few minutes - I love an owner that spends time with his guests. Will frequent.
