This tiny bar and space services two hotels. So it is understaffed. And the servers are overwhelmed. So it really isn't their fault it is poor design. The bar is well stocked if you can get service. The first night I stayed it went to the bar and was refused service. They said I can only get service at a table. Um, ok. So we went to table, and waited 40 minutes, but got not waiter. Cocktails were generous-sized and refreshing, helping us beat the heat. Ambiance aimed for mod. Low-volume Jazz/Euro-tech/reggae-ish music I was unfamiliar with played pleasantly in the background. Large interior with high ceilings and multiple seating areas, including at the bar. One roomy isolated corner had screens (muted) showing a baseball game. I've eaten here multiple times over multiple stays at the A Loft and the food is generally average to slightly above with the exception of the pesto chicken pizza which was borderline inedible. That being said it's a nice vibe with a good beer selection and the staff is always super friendly. read more

The food is hit or miss. Stayed in the attached hotel for a week and ate here 3 times during my stay. The first experience was the Korean BBQ tacos off the starters menu. These were way too big to get a bite and while the avocado was fresh, the BBQ and sauce was watery and not very good at all. The next meal I had a simple grilled chicken Cesar salad that was good. I had the cheesecake with strawberries for dessert. The strawberries were not cleaned and cut very well, but overall it was okay. Ok for a hotel lounge, I guess. I ordered clam chowder and a burger. They came at the same time, so I had decided between hot soup or hot fries. The chowder was served with a teaspoon rather than a soup spoon and wasn't exactly what I'd call hearty. The perfectly formed burger clearly came out of the freezer. My water glass never got refilled. And to top it off, you can order dessert (which I didn't), but you can't order coffee. Meh. Not a bad place for a drink or two. W XYZ Bar is located inside the Aloft Hotel in Redmond, right across the street from Microsoft. Therefore, you can imagine the kind of guests that stay and most likely get a drink here. In fact, when my friends and I visited this bar, we walked in and saw that most of the guests were in business attire and working on their laptops. It's definitely a gathering place for Microsofties and their clients and business partners. My friends and I visited W XYZ Bar after dinner, as it was walking distance from the restaurant that we ate at. On a Friday night the place had quite a few people there. Yet, we were able to sit further from the bar area, where all the comfy chairs were. I liked that this bar is more of a lounge, where people can relax, with hip hop in the background playing. When I asked the bartender what IPAs were on tap, she was a little confused at what breweries were which when she looked over where the beers were, but we saw the handles and figured it out ourselves. I ordered an IPA for my first round. And for my second round I ordered a Jameson on the rocks. She poured the Jameson in the glass first then put the ice on top instead of vice versa, which is how it's normally made. Because of so, the first thing I tasted was the block of ice that was stacked high and near the top of my glass. I wish it had been made the traditional way. We didn't order any food, but that's cool they offer grub. I'm sure hotel guests find this place to be a lifesaver and convenient. Glad to know this is in the area, in case I'm around and need a place for a drink. But it's far from the best bar experience. Yet, I did love seeing all the dogs around since Aloft is dog-friendly. This little gem was a sweet surprise. We stayed at the Element (hotel attached the the Aloft/WXYZ Bar) and checked this place out for dinner. It's quiet with a fun ambiance. Shuffle board for fun. Reasonable pricing. Bar bites (pizza, burgers, caprese, etc) and drinks. The best part is that kids can be in there because it's a hotel lounge. Perfect for being attached to the hotel. We were seen then ignored. My boyfriend and I walked in to get a drink last night before heading to a Yelp event nearby. The two bartenders saw and watched us walk in. One even saw and started to follow as I walked down the entire length of the bar to find two open seats. No luck. All the bar stools were taken. We found an open table in direct line of sight of the bar and sat down. The two bartenders that were behind the bar disappeared one at a time into the back room / kitchen area and never came back out. We waited a full five minutes before we decided to leave. I love coming here for happy hour. The menu is light but delicious, and the atmosphere is pretty chill. They have a decent selection of spirits, and the skilled bartendresses can really knock it out of the park with their cocktails. Natasha, Irene, and Gianna are amazing, and they hold it down - even when the place is packed. Stop in and get one of the best Manhattans on the Eastside! Writing a review after my second visit at this place, the last time was short and was just a quick drink. I am Marriot Bonvoy elite (formerly SPG) thus I may sound a little bias about the properties because I have had great experiences always. We were a party of 15 came for our team party, and we are a crazy bunch. Hayley and Natasha took care of us very well. The ambiance is great, with a blend of couches and chairs, and the design of the lounge is unique. Must try the Atomic and Fiery pizza if you are a spice lover. Given the quality of the lounge the prices are not that high. Rest of the food items are decent (definitely there is some room for improvement) based on most of the items we tried from the menu except salads and burgers. Will be back again soon. read more

I was very excited to try this new bar / lounge and when I got there, all the tables were tucked in and the bartender (who was also our server) expected us to untuck the tables and move the chairs so that we could sit. Really? Maybe we should go and cook our own food too? The bartender (blonde woman) was relatively rude, some of the beer taps were mixed up and therefore, we kept getting the wrong beers. She took forever to bring the new drinks and didn't come and check on us much. Frankly, I wanted to make this a go-to spot, but the service there isn't great (at least from the bartender) and so unless she changes her approach, attitude or the restaurant takes service seriously, i won't be coming back. There's two things I truly enjoy about this place. The crew (Hayley, Natasha, Maggie, etc) are truly awesome. They engage with folks on a personal level, learn about new comers and regulars, and make each visit remarkable and memorable. I've been here a handful of times and will keep coming back mainly because of the awesome folks here. The second thing I enjoy about this place is the ambiance. Lots of fun architecture, color patterns, and seating arrangements make it a fun place to hang out. The only critique I have about the ambiance is the tv placement at the bar; they're exceedingly high, but in all reality, the crew here and friendly conversations make that critique forgettable. read more

I had pretty high hopes for this given the reviews here and the fact that it's situated in an area that's a desert for anything resembling a good cocktail bar. Alas, it didn't particularly impress me. Went there for a random Tuesday night. Ordered one of the cocktails off the menu (Rob Roy) and found it incredibly watered down (Rob Roys generally aren't served over ice at all, neverminding a glass entirely full of ice), and it wasn't clear that the correct liquor was even used (it tasted like well whiskey, not the Glenlivit 12 on the menu). Food was fairly mediocre - I got the Korean tacos (fine, but nothing amazing, could definitely use a better flavor or sauce on it and the pork was a bit dry), and Caprese salad (tomatoes were cherry tomatoes, which is kinda weird but permissible for winter, but otherwise nothing distinguishing for it). The bar itself is pretty and hip looking (although it'd be less jarring on the eyes if the neon color fade behind the bottles were WAY slower), and the space is fun. Just wish the food and drinks had been a bit better. read more

Very cozy, clean and modern looking. But there was nobody on friday night. Drinks were strong and tasty!! Super nice service and good music. Def want to see more people find this place to make it crowded so we can have more fun here. They got shuffleboard, long fireplace and big TV. This is part of the hotel so you will see other hotel customers walking by. Parking was tricky. We parked across the street at the apartment parking garage(either avalon or element?) where it said retail parking but when we got back to get our car back the garage door was shut!! There was no sign of gate closing time anywhere!! So we waited until some residents left to open the gate. That was not what we expected of hotel bar experience lol read more

Writing a review after my now fifth visit to this bar. I work nearby in Redmond, so if I ever need to stay later than I usually do, I'll kill time here instead of sitting in traffic on my way home.
