While in town, I asked my best friend for recommendations for places to eat. Glad that she joined me on this trip as it has been on her 'to try list' for a while. We were not disappointed! I got the Pulled Chicken with Honey Chipotle Sauce and Pepper Jack Cheese. I will state that I LOVE spicy. This was a bit too much for me. However, I would get it again with the sauce on the side. It was difficult to eat the whole thing while it was so spicy. I got tater tots on the side and the balsamic Brussel sprouts. My best friend got the White Pizza with Mushrooms added (eww!). I did try a small piece and it was really good. The crust was chewy and crisp. The toppings and garlic was perfect. I remember this place as JP Bullfeathers and spending many late nights closing out the bar. They have a downstairs that has a lounge, pool table and dart boards. read more

Recently opened in the old Bullfeathers, Jack Rabbit is certainly an interesting new spot. For starters, if you remember the old Bullfeathers, it's going to look very familiar to you. It looks like the main room is largely unchanged except for a coat of purple paint and a few garage doors I don't remember being there before. The real changes come in the upstairs and downstairs rooms, nicknamed the "dungeon" and the "Lounge", where it seems to owners splashed some cash to make some different theme rooms. We came here the other day for dinner and although we were curious enough to check out the other rooms briefly, we mainly stayed to the main room. The menu seems smaller, I'm not sure if it's a soft launch menu or the final one, but most of the dishes center around rotisserie Chicken. I personally had the pulled chicken sandwich with tater tots while my wife went another direction and ordered chicken fingers, which were roughly the size of a fish fry. Although it did seem notable to me that a restaurant in Buffalo didn't serve wings,they otherwise had a pretty normal assortment of burgers, cast iron pizzas, etc. Overall this was a nice first visit to what could potentially be a good spot. Jack Rabbit is at 1010 Elmwood Avenue in the old J. P. Bullfeathers. They are open Wednesday through Saturday 11am-12am and Sunday 11am-10pm. The restaurant is fairly new. They have been open for 40 days and a friend and I were looking forward to checking out this place for quite some time. I just read in a February Buffalo Rising article that the name is a nod to a friend of the owner who passed away. They were on a rollercoaster called the Jack Rabbit at the Seabreeze amusement park in Rochester years ago. We came here for dinner around 5pm on Sunday evening. (About seven hours ago.) The blonde hostess was nice and seated us promptly. They have a cool looking drink menu. I ordered a Guinness. My friend and I each had a water. I wish I would've ordered one of their cocktails. They have a great drink list. I've seen a two page menu online but their menu today was only one page. I ordered some tater tots under their snacks and sides part of the menu. They were perfectly crispy and great. They brought it out with ketchup but forgot the sauce that I had requested. My friend ordered Brussels sprouts under their vegetables section of their menu. She shared some with me and they were quite good. She enjoyed my tater tots too. She ordered the beet balsamic salad for her meal and really enjoyed it. It seemed pricy to me at $14 but looked delicious. For my meal I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Buster. It was small but quite good. It was a house made bread bowl filled with steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, banana peppers, provolone cheese, and mozzarella cheese. This place has really cool decor and a cool vibe. They have their logo up all over, gay pride flags on the window, and cool framed decor like the framed Queen photo near where my friend was seated. When you enter, there is a picture of Willie Nelson and beneath that, there is a LOVE IS LOVE colorful sign. Across from my seat, behind where my friend my seated, you can see where a band would play. We weren't here at night but they had the music piped in so LOUDLY that it was aggravating and hard to hear my friend when we were conversing. I wish the waitress would've checked on us more. I had to ask one of the bartenders for the checks. (By the way, if you ask for separate checks, it's not a problem. Our waitress was named Sky and she was really nice about it.) The tater tots could've been hotter but they were tasty. My Philly Cheesesteak Buster was good. I was only going to give this place three stars because of the loud music but because of the cool decor and good reuse of the old Bullfeathers, I decided to up it to four stars. This place is such a gem! We both ordered the Wakin Bacon Hangover Burger and LET ME TELL YOU. This was by far one of the most delicious burgers I have ever had. My friend advised me to also order the tots because they're apparently out of this world. She was correct. I'm so glad I ordered this burger with tots and met our awesome bartender, Randy. I am VERY picky with how my margaritas are made. Several places I've been to make their margaritas too sour. This place makes them so well that we ended up ordering 6 total margaritas in the short time frame that we were there. Awesome job, Randy!! Almost middle of the week pre-hump day (aka Tuesday evening) after dinner at Kunis, we decided to stop by Jack Rabbit. I must say the name itself is full of energy, to say the least! So we walked in, and were greeted by the hostess but we decided to grab a seat at the bar. We ordered a beer and high noon for myself. They didn't have any Mexican beer, so my date ended up ordering a draft beer but he said it was very good! In addition, we heard they may possibly add some Mexican beer to their list in the near future. After sitting down at the bar, one of the bartenders (Alyssa) comes over to greet us and to take our drink order. She introduced herself and Tony (another bartender) and also asked for our names, which was very nice and made us feel 100% welcomed!! Since this was our first time there, we had asked about the live bands, and she explained that they normally have live bands on Friday and Saturday nights so if you looking for a fun and lively ambiance, those are two of the nights to swing by! Afterwards, we took a walk around and found the nicest little nook downstairs. Walked down just 4 steps, and you'll find a dimly-lit cozy, sexy AND CLEAN area down there with a pool table and dart board. The ambiance was VERY NICE and absolutely perfect for groups, both large and small. I don't know (though) if this area is normally reserved or on a first come first serve basis (forgot to ask, sorry). Overall, we had a very nice experience tonight and we were so happy we stopped by on our way home after dinner. The bartenders were very attentive, super friendly and happy to serve. The establishment itself is very clean, and ambiance was lively even on a Tuesday (and the other patrons were well behaved: no fighting/yelling). All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves and our experience. It's definitely going to be my new favorite spot in Buffalo, so yes, we definitely recommend this place. On a recent Sunday night with nothing better to do, the old gf and I went to find live music somewhere in Buffalo. But the live music that night was canceled and we were still hoping to enjoy the first days of summer sitting outdoors relaxing in the halcyon days. After several stops which showed closed or soon to be - we sauntered down to Elmwood and into Jack Rabbit's. There were a few outdoor seats available on the patio and our decision was made. We ordered and were promptly served. The barkeep did the proper 2 minute pour - always an extra buck in the tip for that. Outside people strolled by as I sipped on my black gold. Thinking this bar needs to be in the top Guinness on tap bars in the city. One guest sat outside with his dog obediently by his side as he took in the early night hours. They allowed the dog and even brought it water. In my ongoing search for the best Guinness on tap in the Buffalo area I would say that Jack Rabbit was a top five. The price was $7 - a fair price for a pint it's served in. The only (if you can call it a complaint) was no waitresses offered to refresh our drinks. I had to walk into the business to get the second round. Not a dealbreaker mind you, but it would have been nice. As this is my last year in my 50s (yes I'm old) I'm a bit more sensitive to how old people are in a given establishment. I was still the oldest but the age ranged from early 20s to late 40s. I didn't stick out too badly! Anyway, the second round tasted as good as the first. And with that - Jack Rabbit's will get a follow up visit sometime this summer! read more

Looks like a small bar/grill from the outside, but they have a really nice setup. They even have a lounge area with a pool table and darts. Really chill stop! We stopped here for a girlfriends catch-up dinner, and the location was Kool. I forgot the restaurant it used to be years ago. I wanna say JP Bullfeafhers Anyway, we were seated right in the front, not far from the bar area, and it wasn't that crowded. The waitress was prompt in stopping over to assist ... the problem was the music. It was extremely loud We could barely hear one another speak. They also had a game playing, which was cool. We had made the reservation on the open table for dinner, and it just wasn't what we expected. It is more of a walk-in sports bar ... There's nothing wrong with that... it just wasn't the vibe we were looking for. We ordered some fries and Brussel sprouts that were good. Had a drink and ended up finding a reservation for The Terrace and went there for dinner. This place is in a fantastic location in the heart of elmwood village. Perfect walking distance to shops and music in the park. Their food is meh, nothing to sing home about however, their tater tots are oddly good. Crispy and cooked perfect every time. And who doesn't love tots?! It is HUGE inside. I'm giving this place 4 stars because the OFTEN have good live music. Their stage isn't very viewer friendly but the drinks are decent and the vibe is always good. People love it. I honestly love the honey chipotle pepper jack sandwich so much that that's the only thing I've ever had off the dinner menu! The chicken is always juicy and flavorful. This place was great what a pleasant surprise! I brought my girlfriend here on a Friday night for dinner and the food was excellent, the service was great, and they even had live music too! They had some excellent drinks and the whole place was super cool with lots of decorations and things to check out. It's a lot bigger looking than you'd think too with multiple rooms, bars, and places to hang out and enjoy a drink. They also have a nice outdoor patio for seating in the summer and warmer weather. Customers/Attire--I saw old and young, it was fit for anyone seemingly who wanted to check out an Elmwood Village Restaurant,people in street clothes and people dressed a little fancier, people out w a friend(s) and others having a celebration and even in the back on first floor a private party going on-so this restaurant seems ready to meet the needs of whatever ya mt be looking for and whoever my like to ck a seemingly hip newer place on Elmwood for dinner Parking-- I am always quick to admit when parking is an issue and for a lot of good places it certainly can be, there is a nearby small parking lot by the restaurant but it's pretty full on a Friday night so chances are you're going to be doing some street parking and having to walk a little bit but that's OK! I mean it's the Elmwood Village right ?! a little brisk walk is fun! Host/servers: i'm gonna go with "chill" and "friendly" on this one. They were smiling and easy to talk to. I couldn't really tell the difference between the table bussers and the servers they all kind of dress alike in casual attire. Seating: The layout in this place is extensive so I have yet to see it all but you'll notice right away there's an outdoor patio for those warm summer days where you can view the Elmwood strip while eating a meal and that's always a plus. When you walk in the first floor seating area mt remind you still a bit of the old Bull feathers restaurant that used to be here many years and that's nice too. The second floor where we sat is pretty, blue walls, nice lighting, some casual seating too of couches, and tables aren't crowded together, just a handful of table tops. We made a reservation and that seemed smart for a Friday nt. Bathroom: was just a small flight of stairs from 2nd floor, and covered in Calvin and Hobbes cartoons! You'll find the "bathroom" sink in hallway just outside the two stalls by kitchen but they have lockable full length doors Food: UNIQUE, GORMET, DELICIOUS are some of the words that come to mind. your going to find soups, appetizers, salads, burgers/sandwiches, interesting bread bowl concoctions, rotisserie chicken options and cast iron pizzas, and specials (and they also have what looks like a great brunch menu too!) I was excited to try their loaded tots! And of course one of their pizzas-they had a special with goat cheese, caramelized onions and sriracha sauce! That smooth and creamy goat cheese was heaven! Us buffalo bread people tend to be used too thick doughy pizza but their thin slices made me want to eat the whole pie by myself! And if you feel like staying in for the night you can also order food to be delivered via your local whatever door Dash GrubHub or whatever the heck they're using Drinks: beer wine and cocktails-I love ordering a good cocktail and while the cocktail list was small including only a handful of options I went for the "Alter Boy" and fell in love! Vodka, red wine and some citrus lemon mixed in?! What?!! What a weird combo! But so glad I tried it! So what are the CONS? Hmmm... okay we made a reservation-but somehow everyone lost track of us it took a half hour for a waiter to find us and apologize that somehow we hadn't gotten assigned to a server I don't know? And given that additional wait it seemed like it took a while for our food to come out as well. And honestly I was ready to get liquored up! So if I had saw my server more I probably would've ordered 4 drinks instead of just 2, you know I was kind of like where are you man?! and we were so full after eating our loaded tots and pizza that we told our server to nix the rotisserie chicken order, only to find out that he didn't even know we had ordered the rotisserie chicken LOL he said he thought the chicken we mentioned was a part of the pizza we ordered?! What?!! Lol so again money lost on their end as if the rotisserie chicken had come out with our other food we would of course LOL have ate it and paid for it willingly! and we were sitting right by a speaker which was on top of another speaker that was facing towards the first floor private party area and for a while everything was great the music was a perfect level and nice until the private party started and the second speaker started playing music as well and suddenly we could hear two speakers going on at once right by our table and that was a bit jarring! So maybe because they are "newish" they have some kinks to still work out perhaps. But I was still pleased to have had the experience and the food was good so yeah I probably wouldn't come here for a regular meal it's just not that type of place for me but once in a while kind of thing or definitely for the sake of eating outside at the patio experiencing unique delicious food is worth my time for sure here and there read more

The first visit I had to jack rabbit was pretty good. The beer selection is very good with a good variety. This time I selected the gennessee cran orange which I think you can never go wrong with. This second visit was very disappointing. We ordered the chicken noodle soup and it came out without noodles in it. We were already half way through eating the soup until we realized it and just ended up finishing it. And after the waitress came out with the noodles. Secondly we got the buffalo chicken buster which was way too salty for my taste. Which I think was the combination of the hot sauce and homemade blue cheese. Lastly my girl friend got the chicken bacon ranch which came out with either none or a very small amount of ranch on the sandwich. I would think it should have a good helping since it's in the name chicken bacon ranch. Another suggestion I would make is to allow any of the pulled pork sandwiches be made into busters to give a better selection of busters. read more

What a unique and fun place with lots of character. My friends and I had such a great time here. The food is delicious. I had a nice hearty salad, super packed and delicious and my friend had the Buffalo chicken pizza. Wow, what a unique and flavorful pizza. I loved the carrots and celery on it. Never thought I would like anything like this, but it is definitely worth the try. The servers were so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere very fun. They were playing lots of good throw backs that we were jamming out to in the patio seating. Incredible food, service and ambiance. Started the night with the rotisserie chicken and tots, incredible. The dark quarter was moist, incredibly seasoned and overall just delicious. These folks were kind enough to let us take over the back room for the Phish SPAC live stream, our bartender was great to talk to and kept the food, drinks and good times flowing. As I was leaving I decided to try the chicken fingers sub, they're house made and served with a Buffalo hot sauce, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato on a hoagie. I have been back a number of times and always have a great time. The decor is hip and trendy but the menu caters to all demographics. I've been here twice now and I have concluded that Jack Rabbit is worthy of 5 stars. Front and center is the stellar service. I've been incredibly impressed by everyone with whom I've interacted: hosts, busboys, runners, servers. Every single person is extremely friendly and accommodating. Service is also very prompt. Food comes out quickly and I've never felt ignored. The food itself is excellent. I love the menu. I find its particular variety unique. I absolutely love that rotisserie chicken is one of their features. Try the pulled chicken sandwich made with the rotisserie - so much better than a typical pulled chicken. All the sides are fantastic! From the delicious but naughty (tater tots!!! mmmm) to the delicious and healthy (brussel sprouts, beets!!! mmmm), they're all great. And it's easy to substitute sides if you want to try something different. Good drink list with reasonably priced local beers. NEGATIVE: not enough to detract a star, though it might if this continues. Right now Jack Rabbit seems to be of the impression that patrons always want some sort of live music. NOT SO. It's always so loud here, whether there is a live band or a DJ. The first time I was here was a Sunday afternoon and a DJ was BLASTING music.
